Recently I and my friends went to a nearby water park in Kolkata that is well known for its water slides, fun, games, and also the ambience of happiness. Everyone needs to take a break from the crazy pace of NYC lifestyle, once in a while. When I ask myself where the best place to do that is, I do not have to think for more than a second. My favorite spot in the NYC is Van Cortlandt Park , with its long paved trails that I so much like to ride on my bike, passing jungles of trees and bushes so wild that they make you believe you have escaped the city completely and are somewhere in the middle of a real rich forest. I love its ample, spacious green valleys that remind me of those gorgeous Scottish hills you can sometimes see in movies, with white, puffy dots of sheep, and lonely, chunky trees. I adore the impetuous, dashing stream of the Tibbets Brook, and the contrasting calm and breathless pacifying waters of the Van Cortlandt lake.

Last week, I made my annual escape to the park. I was alone, did not take my bike this time, only my camera and my five senses, which was all I needed to enjoy a day away from work, buzz, and crowds. I first went to the Parade Ground, watched as a couple of cricket players run back and forth in their crisp, white mantles that sparkled in the sun. The players were like those sheep in the Scottish hills, only whiter and much faster. Not wanting to get burned in the bright morning sun rays, I quickly moved on to reach my destination—the meadow grass plot in the middle of the oak forest. I had spotted at this location before, and promised myself to go there again.

As I moved through the dense forest of the park, I pushed away the ample fluffy branches that came my way, trying not to hurt any of the big flat leaves, or neat, perfect acorns that covered each branch. Wanting to be closer to nature, I decided not to take the pathway but, instead, go directly through the forest. It was as if there was no sign of civilization around me. The oak trees were my favorite, with their wide, strong, mossy trunks and tender, roundish leaves. The air was still wet from the early morning shower—while everywhere, in the open, it had already been dry and hot, as if there had not been no shower. The shadows of the forest still preserved the humidity, intensified by the smell of wet moss and last year’s leaves that still laid on the ground. I loved this deep moist air, saturated with oxygen and filled with freshness.

As I was moving through the forest, a couple of times I came across little glades with no trees. They were intensely lit by the rays of the summer sun, like small islands of happiness, not enough to make me too hot from the fullness of sunlight, but enough to bathe my face and arms in their warmth. And when it got too hot, I could again dive into the pool of fresh, moist greens of the forest to appreciate the shadows of the generous old oaks. I stopped a few times, took my camera out, and captured the play of the light and shadow, spellbound by nature’s simple beauty that we tend not to notice, looking for chic and glam instead.

A half an hour later, I was at my destination point. The valley lay right in the middle of the park, between the forest and the lake, thoughtfully muffled by nature, protected from the inner noises and fuss. There were a couple of people already sitting on the grass, picnicking, reading, laying down dreaming. Even though I was not alone on the meadow this time, I appreciated this fact: I could observe the people merge and coalesce with nature in this somewhat Utopian picture of a perfect idyll.

Although there are numerous parks in my neighbourhood, one is unique and  worth mentioning .

 When do you often go there? 

I go there twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening.

Where is it?

It is a stone’s throw away distance from my home.

Who do you often go there with?

In the mornings I prefer to go there alone, whereas in the evenings we are a group of friends. Whenever I spend time in this park, I feel satisfied, like I am having a  walk on air .

What is it like?

It is a big park with a  lush green  outfield. It has a fountain in the middle, which provides a cool breeze and is a boon for visitors in the scorching heat of summer.

And explain why you like to visit it.

I like to visit it for many reasons. Firstly, it always remains clean and pristine, and I feel close to nature whenever I go there. Every morning, I reach the park at 5 p.m. and do stretching exercises, and after that, I run on the jogging track for 20 minutes. After that, I walk and talk to myself; it helps me plan my day, and my worries go for a toss while roaming here. Moreover, in the mornings, it looks  as pretty as a picture .

I come here and spend  gala time  with my friends in the evenings. We talk about the summary of the day and crack jokes which generate guffaws of laughter. After walking in the evening in the park, I feel calm and relaxed. Spending picnics in this park also appeals to me  under the open sky .

Lastly, I like this park because it helps the people of my neighborhood remain fit and healthy. It is  like a   breath of fresh air  for my city residents as they spend the most time in the hustle and bustle of urban development. Every community should have a garden like this, which can serve the purpose of a  nature playground  where people can spend their leisure time productively.

It is not a small park because it is spread over fifty acres. The strong feature of this park is a small waterfall, which adds to its beauty. In the scorching heat of May and June, it provides a refreshing experience to the visitors. Moreover, during that time it is always  in full bloom  with numerous flowers.

Moreover, it has swings and slides where people from all walks of life come and enjoy. This area is usually full of children and teenagers.

Apart from that, there is an open-air gym where many fitness freaks come for a workout under the arms of nature.

The management team has recruited seasoned gardeners who have  green thumbs  because,  under their aegis , the garden area always looks clean and pristine.

Furthermore, a food court only serves healthy food such as coconut water, fresh fruits and juices, and steamed vegetables.

I like to visit this park for two reasons. The first and foremost reason is exercise. I’m not particularly eager to do workouts in an air-conditioned environment because you do not sweat over there. I like to exercise in an open environment to bring out the best in my training.

Moreover, the second reason for visiting this park is relaxation. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and exhibits a clean and pristine environment. Because of this, whenever I visit it, I feel like the worries in my life have gone for a toss.

Well I live in a well-developed city, and there are plenty of parks in my city but today I would like to describe the park that is just a stone’s throw away from my home and the name of the park is Emmar Hills which is located in my vicinity.

There are various gardens, but I would like to discuss one of my favorite gardens, Rose Park. I go daily for exercise. Moreover, I have also joined the old people group, and with the help of this, I do yoga and exercise, which calms my mind the whole day.

After that, I also do cycling or jogging on the path of the park, and in this park, there are facilities such as gym machines for older adults or young people.

If I talk about the minor children, there are areas like sand areas for these children to play with the sand and make the structures and prototypes of monuments. After that, sitting is also available in the park for old age people.

It is a perfect park due to its beauty, and the greenery is well-maintained in this park. Whenever I go to this park, I feel over the moon because the fresh air makes me energetic to exercise more. In particular, this park is also used for community purposes, like my town members arrange parties in that park.

Being a natural enthusiast, I love going to parks and Gardens. Out of the parks that I have visited to date, one of them is unique and hence worth mentioning.

Being busy, I visit this park on Sundays because of the holiday. It is about 10 km from my place, and I often go there alone, but sometimes, if my friends are available, they accompany me.

The best part about this Garden is that it has numerous mango trees in the city’s heart. These trees provide so many benefits. First and foremost, they provide shade throughout the day. The other notable feature of the park is that in the middle of the park, there is an open-year gymnasium where people can do various strength training exercises.

Moreover, people from all walks can come here for various activities. Children have a dedicated play area where the adults can exercise, and the elder people can walk, sit on the benches, and have chat sessions with people of their age group.

I love this park because it makes me feel close to nature. Whenever I visit it, my stress goes for a toss, and I talk to myself while walking there.

In today’s time, parks and gardens provide a serene environment to the people. Finding a pleasant space in today’s urban areas is a delight.

There is a park. The park’s name is Park View, and it is a lovely park. I always go in the evening with my friends because I am staying with my friends. If nobody is following the rules and regulations about cleaning then it will be very messy and apart from that the authorities should have to take responsibility for managing the strict rules about cleanliness and following these rules, apart from that the people who go there also have some role in doing some work about the maintenance of the cleaning and planting more trees, which is very good for the environment.

 Yes, parks and gardens play a crucial role for urban people because, like in the modern era, there is not a lot of open space in urban areas, and people have only place parks and gardens where they can go and sit down in the natural beauty, and they feel fresh. They get the fresh air there, so it’s very near to nature.

 10. What improvements would you suggest for parks and gardens in your area? 

  Nowadays, I’m staying in Canada, so there are a lot of parks and gardens available near every area, and people can quickly go there. Still, the government should have made some rules about cleanliness and maintaining everything related to the parks so people can also follow the rules. Because it’s a natural beauty and if we do not care about it, things will spoil, so we have to follow some stringent rules about cleanliness.

I live in Mumbai, which is a metropolitan city with a large population. Even though the city is crowded, there are many parks situated in every nook and cranny of the city. I like visiting parks when I want to spend time by myself peacefully. I would like to talk about Shivaji park that I visited recently, located near Dadar in Mumbai. It is usually thronged with people during weekends, so I went there on a Wednesday last month.

There are many parks in my neighbourhood but I chose to go to Shivaji park as it has been months since I visited it. It is about 10 kilometers away from my home. There are public transportation services such as metros and buses available every hour to reach the park. However, I went there on my bicycle to avoid being stuck in traffic. 

After reaching the park, I bought cotton candy for myself and went inside for a stroll . There were a lot more facilities provided in the park now than in the past. It had an astonishing collection of bonsai trees and a garden of roses. There was a newly developed skating rink and a jogging track where many adults were running. There was a small koi pond which was beautiful. I sat by it for a few minutes enjoying the view and proceeded to walk around the park for an hour. 

I absolutely enjoyed my visit to the park where I had a chance to play with some kids as well. The ride to reach the park and the walk felt rejuvenating . I loved the bonsai garden and musical fountain set up in the center of the park. I am glad I visited it and look forward to going there again soon.

A Visit to a Park in English

A park is a place where we can sit, walk or play with friends and family. There are a lot of plants and trees and the ground has grass all over. I visited the ‘Hathi Park’ in Lucknow in winter vacations.

It was a very big park and it also had different swings for children. On the entry gates, there was a big board hanging above. It was written on the board that the park was built in the memory of B.R. Ambedkar. There were a lot of people in the park.

Children were playing games and some people were there for a picnic. We carried Ball and Discus Throw with us. My parents sat on a bench and my brother and I went to play. We threw and caught the disc and after that, we played with the ball. We then asked our mother to take us on the Elephant Statue. We climbed the statue and we could see the entire park from there.

My father clicked many pictures of us. After that, we went on to the playground to enjoy the Swings. We swung on Sea-Saw and then I went to a Slide which is my favourite. We joined other children on Merry-go-round and laughed a lot. My parents then asked us to eat something and we went to the Food Stalls. We ate oodles and I had Chocolate Shake. After we were full, we all went for a walk.

There we saw many types of flowers there were Tulips, Daffodils and Roses of all colours. The wall was covered with Climbers and it looked beautiful. After coming back from the park, I told my mother how much I loved that park and she promised that she will me take me there again soon.

Recently, there have been many reports in newspapers and on TV about big animals coming into towns and cities. There have been bears in Vancouver parks, leopards on the streets of Mumbai and wild pigs in gardens in Berlin. What happens when big animals come into our cities? Is it a good thing or is it dangerous for us and the animals? Wild animals usually come into cities to look for food. In Cape Town, South Africa, baboons sometimes come into the suburbs. They eat fruit from gardens and go into people's kitchens and take food from cupboards and fridges! Baboons are strong animals and sometimes they scare children and fight with pet dogs. Many people do not like them, but the city can be dangerous for baboons too. Sometimes, baboons are hurt in car accidents and the sugar in human food can be very bad for their teeth. The city council in Cape Town has a team of Baboon Monitors. Their job is to find baboons in the city and take them back to the countryside. This makes the city safer for people and it is healthier for the baboons. The problem is that a lot of baboons will come back to the city to find food again. In Berlin in Germany, groups of wild pigs sometimes come into the city to look for food. Pigs have come into the city for hundreds of years, but now the winters are warmer, there are more pigs than in the past. Pigs eat flowers and plants and dig in gardens and parks in the city. They also walk in the street and cause traffic accidents. Some city residents like the pigs and give them food. But the city council is worried about the traffic accidents. They have told people to stop giving the pigs food and have put up fences to stop the pigs entering the city.   In Moscow in Russia, there are 35,000 wild dogs. They live in parks, empty houses, markets and train stations. Some of the dogs were pets that people did not want so they left them on the streets. Others were born on the streets and have always lived there. Some dogs live alone and others live in packs (a pack is the name for a group of dogs). In 2010, scientists studied the dogs. They found some very interesting facts:

• Packs have leaders. The leaders are the most intelligent dogs and not the biggest or strongest ones.
• Dogs know that it is safer to cross the street with people and some dogs understand traffic lights.
• Dogs have learnt that people give more food to small, cute dogs than to big ones. The cutest dogs in a pack wait on the street for people to give them food. When they have got some food, they share it with the other dogs in the pack.
• Some dogs have started travelling on the Moscow underground trains.

What do the people in Moscow think of the dogs? A lot of people like them and are used to seeing them on the streets. They give the dogs food and water to drink. The winter in Moscow is very cold with lots of snow and temperatures of -10 ºC. It can be hard for dogs to survive but some city residents have built small huts for the dogs to live in during the winter. Mice, squirrels and birds often live in cities and survive. Some bigger animals like the dogs in Moscow can survive in the city too, with a little help from their human friends. For many big animals, cities are dangerous places and they need our help to return to the countryside.

Once a Sheriff’s Deputy in Florida, Now a Source of Disinformation From Russia

In 2016, Russia used an army of trolls to interfere in the U.S. presidential election. This year, an American given asylum in Moscow may be accomplishing much the same thing all by himself.

A dozen years ago, John Mark Dougan, a former deputy sheriff in Palm Beach County, Fla., sent voters an email posing as a county commissioner, urging them to oppose the re-election of the county’s sheriff.

He later masqueraded online as a Russian tech worker with a pseudonym, BadVolf, to leak confidential information in violation of state law, fooling officials in Florida who thought they were dealing with a foreigner.

He also posed as a fictional New York City heiress he called Jessica, tricking an adviser to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office into divulging improper conduct by the department.

“And boy, did he ever spill ALL of the beans,” Mr. Dougan said in a written response to questions for this article, in which he confirmed his role in these episodes.

Those subterfuges in the United States, it turned out, were only a prelude to a more prominent and potentially more ominous campaign of deception he has been conducting from Russia.

Mr. Dougan, 51, who received political asylum in Moscow, is now a key player in Russia’s disinformation operations against the West. Back in 2016, when the Kremlin interfered in the American presidential election, an army of computer trolls toiled for hours in an office building in St. Petersburg to try to fool Americans online.

Today Mr. Dougan may be accomplishing much the same task largely by himself, according to American and European government officials and researchers from companies and organizations that have tracked his activities since August. The groups include NewsGuard, a company that reviews the reliability of news and information online; Recorded Future, a threat intelligence company; and Clemson University’s Media Forensics Hub.

Working from an apartment crowded with servers and other computer equipment, Mr. Dougan has built an ever-growing network of more than 160 fake websites that mimic news outlets in the United States, Britain and France.

With the help of commercially available artificial intelligence tools, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and DALL-E 3, he has filled the sites with tens of thousands of articles, many based on actual news events. Interspersed among them are also bespoke fabrications that officials in the United States and European Union have attributed to Russian intelligence agencies or the administration of President Vladimir V. Putin.

Between September and May, Mr. Dougan’s outlets have been cited or referred to in news articles or social media posts nearly 8,000 times, and seen by more than 37 million people in 16 languages, according to a report released Wednesday by NewsGuard .

The fakes have recently included a baseless article on a fake San Francisco Chronicle website that said Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, had smuggled 300 kilograms of cocaine from Argentina. Another false narrative appeared last month in the sham Chronicle and on another site, called The Boston Times, claiming that the C.I.A. was working with Ukrainians to undermine Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign.

Mr. Dougan, in a series of text exchanges and one telephone interview with The New York Times, denied operating the sites. A digital trail of clues, including web domains and internet protocol addresses, suggests otherwise, the officials and researchers say.

A friend in Florida who has known Mr. Dougan for 20 years, Jose Lambiet, also said in a telephone interview that Mr. Dougan told him in January that he had created the sites.

Steven Brill, a founder of NewsGuard, which has spent months tracking Mr. Dougan’s work, said he represented “a massive incursion into the American news ecosystem.”

“It’s not just some guy sitting in his basement in New Jersey tapping out a phony website,” he added.

Mr. Dougan’s emergence as a weapon of the Kremlin’s propaganda war follows a troubled life in the United States that included home foreclosures and bankruptcy. As a law enforcement officer in Florida and Maine, he faced accusations of excessive use of force and sexual harassment that resulted in costly lawsuits against the departments he worked for.

He faces an arrest warrant in Florida — its records sealed by court order — on 21 felony charges of extortion and wiretapping that resulted from a long-running feud with the sheriff of Palm Beach County.

Mr. Dougan’s activities from Moscow, where he fled in 2016 one step ahead of those charges, continue to draw scrutiny from the authorities in the United States. Last year, he impersonated an F.B.I. agent in a telephone call to Mr. Brill, according to an account by Mr. Brill to be published next week in a new book, “The Death of Truth.”

Mr. Dougan, who acknowledged making the call in a text message this week, had been angered by a NewsGuard report in February 2023 that criticized YouTube for allowing videos parroting Russian propaganda about the war in Ukraine, including some by Mr. Dougan.

In a rambling, profanity-laced video in response on YouTube last year, Mr. Dougan posted excerpts from the call with Mr. Brill and showed a Google Earth satellite photograph of his home in Westchester County, a suburb of New York City — “just down the road from the Clinton crime family,” as Mr. Dougan put it, referring to the home of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The call prompted an F.B.I. investigation that, according to Mr. Brill, traced the call to Mr. Dougan’s telephone in Russia. (A spokeswoman for the bureau did not respond to a request for comment on the investigation or Mr. Dougan’s previous activities.)

A History in Law Enforcement

Mr. Dougan began to hone the skills that he is putting to use today during a turbulent childhood in the United States. In the written responses to questions for this article, he said he had struggled at home and in school, bullied because of Tourette’s syndrome, but found a passion in computers. When he was 8, he said, the man who would become his stepfather began teaching him to write computer code.

“By the time I was 16,” he wrote in one response, “I knew a dozen different programming languages.”

After a four-year stint in the Marine Corps, which he claims he offered to join in lieu of a jail sentence for fleeing a police stop for speeding on a motorcycle, he became a police officer first in a small force in Mangonia Park, Fla., and then the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office from 2005 to 2009.

According to news reports and his own accounts over the years, Mr. Dougan repeatedly clashed with superiors and colleagues, facing numerous internal investigations that he said were retaliatory because he objected to police misconduct, including instances of racial bias.

In 2009, he moved briefly to Windham, Maine, to work in another small-town police department. There he faced a complaint of sexual harassment that resulted in his dismissal before he completed his probationary period.

Mr. Dougan started a website called WindhamTalk to defend himself. The website foreshadowed others he would create, including one devoted to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, PBSOTalk.

After moving back to Florida, he used PBSOTalk to torment in particular the department’s elected sheriff, Ric L. Bradshaw, whom he accused of corruption. He posted the unlawful recordings of “Jessica” chatting with a former detective commander, Mark Lewis, who, Mr. Dougan claimed, was investigating the sheriff’s critics, including himself. As Mr. Dougan acknowledged in a video interview last year, it is illegal in Florida to record a telephone conversation without permission.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, Therese C. Barbera, said Mr. Dougan was “a wanted felon for cyberstalking using unsubstantiated and fabricated claims that have NO factual basis.”

In February 2016, PBSOTalk posted confidential information about thousands of police officers, federal agents and judges. The next month, F.B.I. agents and local police officers searched Mr. Dougan’s home, seizing all of his electronic equipment.

Fearing arrest, he said, he made his way to Canada and caught a flight to Moscow. He was indicted on the 21 Florida felony charges the next year.

Peddling Russia Propaganda

In Russia, Mr. Dougan refashioned himself as a kind of journalist, documenting his travels around the country, including Lake Baikal in Siberia and Crimea, the peninsula in Ukraine that Russia annexed in 2014 in violation of international law.

He posted photographs and videos from those trips on YouTube, which suspended his channel after NewsGuard’s report last year. He also appeared regularly on state media, including with two former intelligence operatives, Maria Butina , who penetrated Republican political circles, and Anna Chapman , one of 10 spies who inspired the television series “The Americans.”

In 2021, as Mr. Putin began mobilizing the military forces that would invade Ukraine, Mr. Dougan posted a video that the Kremlin would cite as one justification for its attack. In it, he claimed that the United States operated biological weapons factories in Ukraine, an accusation that Russia and its allies have pushed without ever providing evidence .

Once the war started, Mr. Dougan recounted in his written responses to questions, he traveled to Ukraine 14 times to report from the Russian side of the front lines. He appeared in Russian government hearings purporting to expose Ukraine’s transgressions, indicating some level of cooperation with the government authorities.

He has faced criticism for the reports, including in a profile in The Daily Beast, that he posted on YouTube and other platforms. Mr. Dougan has portrayed the war much as Russia’s propaganda has: as a righteous battle against neo-Nazis backed by a decadent West, led by the United States and NATO.

“The West has consistently lied about every aspect of this conflict,” he wrote. “Why does only one side get to tell their story?”

Fake News Sites in the U.S.

In April 2021, Mr. Dougan revived a website called DC Weekly, which had been created four years earlier and published fake articles about the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. According to a report last December by Clemson’s Media Forensics Hub, the domain and internet protocol address were shared by PBSOTalk and Mr. Dougan’s personal website, as well as two marketing books he wrote in exile and a security firm he operated, Falcon Eye Tech, which offered “offshore security monitoring services.”

After Russia’s assault on Ukraine began in 2022, the site carried articles about the war.

Then, last August, the site began to publish articles based on elaborate fabrications that the Western government officials and disinformation researchers said came from Russia’s propaganda units. They often appeared first in videos or audio recordings on obscure X accounts or YouTube channels, then spread to sites like DC Weekly and then to Russian state media as if they were authentic accusations, a process researchers call “narrative laundering.”

The baseless narratives included claims that relatives or cronies of Ukraine’s leader secretly bought luxury properties, yachts or jewelry, and that Prince Andrew, the brother of King Charles III of Britain, had abducted and abused children during a secret visit to Ukraine.

Dozens of new sites have appeared in recent months. They included ones made to look like local news outlets: The Chicago Chronicle, The Miami Chronicle, The Boston Times, The Flagstaff Post and The Houston Post. Some hijacked names of actual news organizations, like The San Francisco Chronicle, or approximated them, in the case of one called The New York News Daily.

When The New York Times reported on the new sites in March, DC Weekly published a lengthy response in a stilted style that indicated the use of artificial intelligence. It was written under the name Jessica Devlin, one of the fictitious journalists on the site. “I’m not a shadowy foreign actor,” the article said.

At the end, the article invited media inquiries at an email address with the domain Falcon Eye Tech.

Two days later, Mr. Dougan answered.

103 New Sites in Two Days

Mr. Dougan, who became a Russian citizen last year and voted in the country’s presidential election in March, said in his messages to The Times that he made a living by selling security devices he designed for a manufacturer in China. He denied being paid by any Russian authorities, claiming he funds his activities himself.

His friend Mr. Lambiet, a private investigator and former journalist, said he considered Mr. Dougan a good man but cautioned that Mr. Dougan had a propensity to make things up. “He’s like a Russian disinformation campaign: It’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not,” he said.

As evidence of Mr. Dougan’s role in the news sites has emerged, he has shifted tactics. Recorded Future, the threat intelligence company, released a report this month that detailed his ties to agencies linked to the Russian disinformation. The report documented the extensive use of A.I., which one of the company’s researchers, Clément Briens, estimated made Mr. Dougan’s work far cheaper than hiring a troll army.

At the time, Recorded Future identified 57 domains that Mr. Dougan had created. In a two-day span after the report was published, 103 new sites appeared, all on a server in California.

“He’s trying to obfuscate the Russian links,” Mr. Briens said.

Mr. Dougan at times treats his activities as a game of cat and mouse. He spent months engaging with a researcher at NewsGuard, McKenzie Sadeghi, revealing details of his life in Moscow while mocking her boss, Mr. Brill.

“He seemed to be toying with me, both to elicit my responses and, it seemed, to show off his talent for global online mischief, without actually admitting anything,” she wrote in the report published on Wednesday.

While Mr. Dougan’s sites have focused on Russian narratives about the war in Ukraine, the researchers and government officials say he has laid the foundation for interference in the unusually large confluence of elections taking place around the world this year.

This suggests a “risk of an expanded operation scope in the near future, potentially targeting diverse audiences and democratic systems in Europe and other Western nations for various strategic objectives,” the diplomatic service of the European Union wrote in a report last month when the network included only 23 websites.

In recent weeks, the sites have included themes that seem intended to stoke the partisan fires in the United States before November’s presidential election.

Last month, articles appeared on two of Mr. Dougan’s newer fake sites, The Houston Post and The Flagstaff Post, detailing a baseless claim that the F.B.I. had planted an eavesdropping device in Mr. Trump’s office at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

Some of the new sites have names, like Right Review and Red State Report, that suggest a conservative political bent. In April, a site that researchers also linked to Mr. Dougan offered “major cryptocurrency rewards” for leaks of information about American officials, singling out two prosecutors and a judge involved in the criminal cases against Mr. Trump.

“If the site was mine,” he wrote in response to a question about it, “I would want people to give documents on any dirty politician, Republican, Democrat or other.”
