The name of my school is Bidya Bhaban High School. There is a garden in front of my school. There is a playground just before it. It is an open space for games and sports and a lot of fun. We play on the playground when we get time for that.

There are twenty-two classrooms, a library, a laboratory, a teachers’ room and the Headmaster’s room in the school. Our respected Headmaster is Debashish Ganguly. The name of my school is Ramakrishna Vivekananda Vidyapeeth. It is situated a few kilometers away from my home. I go on a school bus with my friends. Other than academic classes, students also enjoy dance classes, music classes, and art classes. We are also given computer knowledge and for this, my school has a separate computer lab. My school is the best in the town. My school feels proud of its students because of their achievements. My school conducts several competitions and also allows students to participate in several national-level events. Many students of my school get selected for IITs and NITs. Recently our school basketball team got selected for the National Level Basketball competition.

Teachers at my school support kids in their extracurricular activities, sports, and academic endeavours. They serve as the foundation of the school and instil in us critical life principles that we must implement daily. Our cooperation with friends and classmates is something we learn in school. Values such as sharing are modelled in children from an early age. Studies and extracurricular activities are given equal weight to help us grow as people. Our schools will always try to concentrate on our complete development and help us become healthy adults.

All great men have been taught to read and write at their schools. Thanks to our school, we acquire the proper values at a young age. We impart a set of strict moral principles that assist us in the future. Most of your early recollections are likely to be associated with the school. Living together with our peers teaches us to smile, weep, share, and give support to one another. In addition to providing a framework for developing our moral character, schools also operate as a road map for achieving our goals.

The first few school years go by quickly and are the best of our academic lives, but the higher classes show us that life is not always straightforward. We make mistakes on tests, stay up late to complete homework, and receive criticism from teachers, but most importantly, we learn how to handle the challenges that life throws our way.

Any person can advance in the proper direction and succeed in life with the help of school. Every parent encourages their children to attend school from the start because they recognise the value of education and realise that knowledge is the foundation for a better future. Children exhibit a sense of unity and connection at school in addition to their mental growth. All students are encouraged to advance because there is no discrimination at the school, and everyone is treated equally.

My School Environment

My school is located in a peaceful area of the city, distant from the noise and pollution of the city, and green trees and plants surround it. This allows us to study in a calm and unpolluted environment. Our school contains roughly 50 rooms, and there are three to ten sections in each class. There are approximately 3,000 students in my school. Additionally, the school features a playground, garden, and canteen where we hang out with our friends during downtime.

In addition, swings have been made for the students of class 1 at my school so they can amuse themselves while they study. Children are also taught several experiments in computer laboratories, chemical labs, and physics labs. In addition, a sizable auditorium is present, where various festive and cultural programmes are occasionally held.

Discipline is a priority in my school. As soon as we enter the school, we have a morning assembly where we sing the national anthem. Introduction: My school is a century-old school. Its name is Muslim Education Society High School. It was established in 1921. It is located at Anderkilla under Kotwali Upazila in Chittagong. My school has a long tradition and reputation. So, writing an essay about my school is a pleasure for me.

Description of My School: At present, the school is housed in a big five-storied building. It faces the north. The original four-storied building became dilapidated and was reconstructed in 1985. There are thirty-five classrooms , three science laboratories, one boys’ room, one girls’ common room, one teachers’ common room, and one office room in my school. The Headmaster and the Assistant Headmaster sit in two separate rooms. There is a big library in the school . The library has a big collection of books. Students can read and borrow books from the library. There is a pond on the south and a mosque on the north in our school. There is also a garden in front of it. Students take proper care of the garden. It is always full of flowers and looks very beautiful.

Teachers and Students: There are 1650 students and 34 teachers in my school. All the teachers are efficient, qualified, and experienced. Our Headmaster is a renowned scholar and a very good administrator. He has been selected as the best teacher of Kotowali Thana many times. We respect him very much. He always takes good care of us.

Results of My School: My school is well known for its brilliant results in different competitive public examinations. Almost all the students pass the SSC Examinations with good grades and the results of the Junior Scholarship Examination are also quite satisfactory.

Games & Sports in My School: There is a big empty space in front of my school where the students play football, cricket, badminton, and other games and sports. One of the teachers looks after the games and sports and coaches the students. The achievements of our school in different sports competitions are excellent. Every year our students win a lot of prizes.

Ceremonies observe in My School: Every year my school observes different religious and national events such Sirat An-Nabi, International Mother Language Day, Victory Day, Independence Day , and other events. The school also holds Annual Prize Giving Ceremony, Sports Day, Cultural Day, etc. On those days special programs are organized with participation from the students and teachers.

Description of My School: My school stands in an open place. Our school is housed in a nice one-storied building. A small river flows to the west of the school. It faces the South. It has twelve spacious rooms. The headmaster’s room stands in one corner of the school. Next to his room, there is a teacher’s common room. The teachers meet here before and after classwork. There is another room for the office. The clerk sits here and collects tuition fees. There is another room for the library. The classes are held in the rest of the rooms. Our school has a well-equipped science laboratory.

There are five hundred students and twenty teachers in our school. The teachers are well educated and trained. They love us very dearly. The headmaster is an M. A. Our school sits at 10:30 a.m. and breaks up at 4:30 p.m. We get leisure for half an hour at 1 p.m.

Results: The results of our school are always good. Every year many students pass the SSC examination in the first division. Some boys get junior scholarships every year.

Games and Library: There is a playground in front of our school. We play football, cricket, volleyball, and other games there. We also play Carrom and table tennis in the common room. Our school has a rich library. We read books and magazines there. The students borrow books from it.

Other Facilities: Our school publishes a magazine every year. The poor students enjoy free scholarships. Sometimes we go on picnics.

Our school life is always the best time of our lives. Furthermore, it is the only time where I can meet my friends. My School time is the only time which I enjoy a lot. I get to play many games. Also, I get to study my favorite subject. Above all, I get to play with my group of friends and spend a good time with them.

My School is the second-largest school in the entire city. Furthermore, it is among the most renowned institutions of the state. It has two very large fields. We call it the front and the backfield. On the front, we play sports like football and hockey because of its’ soft ground. However, the back is to play cricket . This is because it has a pitch on it and the ground was hard.

Moreover, my school also has a basketball court where students practice almost every day. My favorite is the swimming pool which is quite big. So I never miss any swimming periods whenever I have any. Further my school has two halls. One is the new gymnasium and the other is the old one. The students play sports badminton and table tennis in it. Also if we have any literary function, it always takes place in the new gymnasium.

My School Events

Every year in October we have a Literary and Cultural Festival. In this, students from different schools come to participate. Furthermore, it was a three-day function. This first day is of Western music , in this, the students sing western songs. Various bands from different schools participate in this. The second day is of Hindi music, in which we get to listen to some of the most beautiful voices.

The third day is the choreography. This is the best day of all three. Some, my friends, are really great dancers, so they always perform on this day. Moreover, we get to see some of the best dance acts on the day. These are the most memorable and enjoyable days of the entire school year.

Furthermore, at the end of every year, we have a P.T. Display. In this, the students from every batch have to perform an act. To perform this act our teachers start teaching us one month before the event. We all enjoy a lot during these days as we didn’t have to study for the first three periods. Moreover, on the day of the event, various competitions also take place. I always take part in an inter-house relay because I am good at it.

At last, before the farewell, there is a concert held. In this, we perform for our senior and the retired staff to wish them goodbye. It is a mixed concert in which we could perform any act. Whether it be singing, dancing or drama , everything is welcomed in this.

I have always admired my seniors because some of them had great achievements during their School life . And staying with them for so many years has enlisted an attachment. Furthermore, I have seen them spending their last days in college. And it was truly heartbreaking on wishing them goodbye.

A school is a pious place of learning. It is said to be the temple of Goddess Luxmi. The school plays a significant part in shaping the future personality of a child. A good school is a centre for learning good habits at a tender age which has an everlasting impact. Our country is not fortunate enough to provide good schooling to all the school going children. The schools are generally not provided with food facilities like good buildings, teachers, equipment and the like. Only a few schools in big cities are good centre of learning and education. The schools in rural areas and small towns presents a very bad picture resulting in very poor performance of students. lot of improvement is required in this field, then only can we boast of being a developing country.

I read in the Bal Bharati Public School, Karol Bagh , New Delhi. My school is at a walking distance from my house. The building of my school is three – storied. It is painted in red colour on the outside and in white colour from inside. It is a spacious building. In all there are 60 class- rooms, a hall, a large library, three laboratories and two staff rooms. There is a small but comfortable separate room for the visitor. The administrative Block of our school is a separate structure. It consists of the Principal’s room and the office. There is a large courtyard where we assemble in the morning for prayers. In the big hall cultural activities take place. Adjoining this hall is our dispensary.

In front of the hall there is a large open space used as a playground. On the three sides of this ground are flowerbeds and lawns. The lush green lawns, plants and flowers around this open space make it a pretty sight to look at. Our principal and a few of our teachers are very fond of gardening. They look after the flowerbeds with great care. There is also a gardener. He is well trained in his work of gardening. He also has a long experience in the line. There is a grand swimming pool where every facility is provided to the students to learn swimming.

All our laboratories are well equipped with instruments, etc., for doing practical’s. The library and its big reading room are a specialty of my school. There are thousands of books on all school- subjects. In the reading room we enjoy reading newspapers, magazines and books. About 50 students can sit at a time in the library and reading room.

The school has its own canteen where some eatables, hot tea, coffee and cold drinks are always available at subsidized rates.

There are about 2,000 girl and boy students in our school. It is a co- educational school. It is a co-education school. Education and learning are imparted in Arts, Commerce and Science subjects in our school. Last year computer training was added to the long list of our school subjects. It is one of the best schools in Delhi. The results of my school are a matter of envy for many other schools in the city. In games and other extra- curricular activities also my school enjoys a high reputation.

The standards of our school are very high. The teachers of my school are highly qualified. They are a devoted team of men and women headed by an experienced Principal. They love the students like their own sons and daughters. Special classes are held for weak students. brilliant students are also given extra coaching. The poor and needy besides meritorious students are liberally given stipends and scholarships. That is why students from far off places of the city come seeking admission in my school.

In real sense, our school is an ideal school. I like my school very much. I take pride in being a student of such a good school.

School is a temple of learning and a training ground for future citizens. The name of my school is JB High School. It was set up in 1943 by a landlord in our area. He donated land and money for the school.

The atmosphere in which our school is situated is very pleasant. It is surrounded by a playground on one side and a garden with a small pond on the other. The school has two rows of big buildings. The name of the school is written on the front building. There are ten classrooms in the front building.

Another ten rooms in the back building are for the Head Master’s Office, Library, the Clear’s Office, the Science Laboratory, the Teacher’s Common – room , the N.C.C. and Scout Room, etc. there is also a hostel in our school campus.

The total number of students in our school is about five hundred. The school functions from 10.30 A.M. to 4 P.M. The classes begin after a mass prayer. During the recess hour we go to the playground. In games period, we play football, volleyball, etc.

The library of our school is a big one. There are about two thousands books on different subjects; we have a library period in our weekly routine. We take books from our library and return them after a week.

The District Science Exhibition is also held in our school. Two years ago a classical teacher from our school won the Governor’s Award. The discipline , the study atmosphere and the brilliant academic result of our school attract many meritorious students from distant parts our state. It is an ideal school in all respects.

I read in A.K. Model School. It is situated on the Pusa Road. It is one of the best schools in Delhi.

It is a very big school. It is spread on a vast stretch of land. The land for the school was donated by some renowned philanthropists.

It has a huge building. It has about one hundred rooms. All the rooms are spacious, airy and well-ventilated.

About four thousand students study in my school. There are over one hundred teachers who teach them. All the teachers are great scholars. They have mastery over their subjects. They are also very hardworking.

There is a big auditorium hall in my school. There is also a stadium where matches and other sports events are held.

In my school there are so many other things such as a big library, a beautiful canteen, a swimming pool, a cycle and scooter shed, a car parking shed, a badminton court, a boxing court, a gymnasium, etc.

The administrative block is situated near the gate of the school. The gate is guarded by a security man. In my school there is also a garden-cum-nursery. It is supervised by two gardeners. There are also a number of officials, peons and sweepers in the school.

The name of my school Principal is Mrs. Kusurn Lata. She is a highly learned middle-aged lady. She is very kind-hearted. But she is a strict disciplinarian.

Our school excels in studies as well as sports and extracurricular activities. It shows very good results every year. Its various teams often win trophies. So many students of our school have often won prizes at local, district, state and even national levels.

I am proud of my school. At present, it is progressing by leaps and bounds. I hope it will continue progressing rapidly forever.

I study in Jain Happy School in Daryaganj. It is a double storeyed building. Its clock-tower can be seen from very far.

There are thirty rooms. All the rooms are spacious and well ventilated. There is a big library, a science laboratory, and one office room in my school.

Our library has thousands of books. There are many magazines. Students may be seen reading there in the hall.

There is a large playground. It also has a beautiful garden. There are many kinds of plants and trees. My school is one of the best schools in my city.

My school has 40 teachers and a principal. All our teachers are highly qualified. Our Principal is a middle-aged gentleman.

He believes in simple living and high thinking. He never punishes a student. About a thousand students come to study in my school.

I love my school very much. I am proud of my school.

In my school life, I’ve always been that ideal studious student so I typically don’t have that super amazing bunch of memories like the notorious back benchers except for ones that I remember when I was in my eighth grade.

My School Life Experience

It was a usual day at school until this incident took place. It was about the time of recess when I used to play football with my classmates. One day while I was out in the field suddenly a boy called Stephen Francis who was also the captain of our school football team kicked my brand new Liverpool FC soccer ball out of the school premises, to the narrow lane that passed just behind our school ground.

The walls of our school were a bit high and fenced and like every other school, going out of the premises was strictly prohibited. We partially climbed the wall so that we could have a look on the ball and waited for some genuine person to pass by so that we could ask him to return our ball.

We had to wait for quite long until a guy of almost same age as ours walked by. He was quite far however he saw the ball and went towards it. We saw that he tried to run away taking the ball. So, without thinking twice I and my friend jumped the school wall but till the time we could make it past the wall he was already running with our soccer ball.

We started running behind him and my friend bumped into a bike and was hurt badly. I probably had to let go off my soccer ball and see how she was hurt. She got three stitches from that injury. We were scolded by teachers and principal for this, as a punishment our parents were called to school the next day to discuss the seriousness of the trouble.

Since then me and this friend of mine have been partners in numerous mischief that have made my school life memorable.

Teachers : We realize how important it is to always have a guide who still thinks that we are immature for everything and makes us understand accordingly. We cannot get such a mentor/ guide after we have completed our schooling.
Homework : A thing which we hate during our school life and tried hundreds of creative excuses to avoid was actually fun. School life would have been so incomplete without it.
Punishments and rewards : Punishments used to come in the variety of standing whole period or getting out of the class or going to the principal’s office and the best reward was when someone was made the class monitor.
First Experiences : It was the time when we are allowed to make mistakes as too many things were our firsts, whether it was our first crush, first heartbreak without even being in relationship, first fight or first kiss.

All of these experiences hold a special importance in our hearts even as we grow up. They have taught me a lot and have helped me become the person I am today.

A school is a building dedicated to provide learning space and environment to provide education. It is a building wherein your majority of childhood has passed, a building that everyone misses after they’ve finally left it, same is the scenario in my case. I’ve studied in Don Bosco High School Vadodara, an all-boys Christian missionary School. Hard for other people to admit but being in an all-boys school has got some perks that only those who study here can understand.

My Memories of Primary and Secondary Classes

I’ve been a part of Don Bosco institution since kindergarten until my tenth grade. After tenth in higher secondary I went to Rosary high school, which was more or less like an unofficial dummy school for the students in science stream so I barely have any school memories from higher secondary school. So, the story of my enchanting school memories revolves around my school from junior years.

Like a stereotypical school going kid I used to go to the school in a school van. I would wake up at quarter to six in the morning, get fresh, wear school uniform, arrange my school bag according to the time table for the day and have a quick breakfast by 6:40 am as at sharp quarter to seven my school van would be right in front of my house honking. Then, further half an hour until we reached school was a time for chit-chat and discussion about the homework assigned to us the earlier day.

The Daily Activities at School

We would reach the school at around 7:30 am, approximately fifteen minutes prior to the school bell. We had to be in our respective classes before the bell rang. Then it was time for national song and school prayer that went on until eight which was a time for regular school periods to begin. This continued for four periods continuously until the recess bell rang at 10:30 am. Recess felt more of a games period then a lunch break. Everyone would be seen doing different activities during this time. The kind of activities one indulged in depended on the class he was in.

When we were in the primary classes we played different games in the school garden. Basketball, football, running and hide and seek were some of our favourite games. As we reached the secondary classes, we began to sit in the canteen to chit chat about the various things and enjoy delicious food. After the recess, we had to attend four more periods. Not every period was that boring though, art and craft, PT, value education and mathematics periods were interesting for me.

Apart from this formal schedule at school, those gossips with friends, hanging around at canteen, going to washroom to partially bunk the lecture, that fear of punishment when we’d forgotten to complete the homework, that note which the teacher wrote in the handbook when we’d done some mischief in the class, the ride in nervousness from home to school on the result day, from immature fights to the innocent laughs – everything from the school feels so dear now, maybe because the things were simple back then.

The Day I Bunked My School

I had many bittersweet high school experiences. One of these was when I bunked a lecture, with two of my friends, for the first time. Not only did we bunk the lecture, but also we jumped through our school walls to get out of the school premises and watch a newly released movie. We had a class of 70 students, out of which, around 55 students were present that day.

Now coincidentally, 10 more students from my class also bunked the lecture which made the decreased class strength visible. Moreover, the bags of all of the 13 students, including us, were still there in the class, as we were not allowed to leave the class with bags during school hours. So, our teacher did the checking and found out about the students who bunked and so eventually we were suspended from our laboratory sessions for a week.

However, we didn’t stop bunking lectures post this. We became really smart in finding ways to bunk. We tried to strike a balance between being a good student and enjoying high school. During all those bunks, I realized how important it is to have friends to make your life worth living.

The Ups and Downs in My High School

Then, there came our first high school exam and I managed to be on the list of top 10 students of my class. I had always been a good student academically. So this time, even after all the shenanigans that I indulged in, I managed to score good marks. But this was the last time that I got good marks. My grades started degrading after that and this led to a lot of stress and anxiety. I lost interest in studies and indulged in gaming, watching movies or reading novels.

Thankfully, I didn’t do anything bad, but this normal stuff made the situation worse as I could not concentrate on my studies. So, I went through counselling which I never thought I’ll ever require. It was a difficult period for me but eventually I was able to get decent score in my finals. My parents stood as my pillar of strength during this time. They encouraged me to study and motivated me to lead the right path. I cannot thank them enough for their guidance and support.

All of such experiences from my high school gave me lessons to remember for a lifetime. They made me realize how everything wrong could turn right if only you believe so and have support from your loved ones.

It was a cloudy day when I took my first step into the compound of my school. I was carrying a new backpack that was filled with notebooks. Though the backpack was a bit heavy, instead of focusing on the weight, I was excited about the beginning of my journey on my first day in school.

My classroom was at the end of the corridor. As I entered my classroom, my class teacher introduced me to the class and made me feel welcome. Activities like reading, solving problems in groups, and sharing our lunch boxes slowly and steadily transformed the new student with a sense of belonging.

The whole day progressed with mixed excitement as well as emotions. As the bell rang, declaring the end of the school day, the school felt like a world of possibilities where the journey was more than textbooks.

The corridor was filled with the echo of students. As I entered the classroom, wearing a mix of curiosity and excitement, my classmates and class teacher welcomed me with a warm smile. My first day in school started by stepping onto the school bus with a bag full of books and a heart full of curiosity. It was like I was starting a new chapter in my life. After travelling a long way back, I stepped at the gate of my school. The school gate welcomed me with open arms and greeted me with a sense of excitement as well as nervousness.

As I entered the classroom, I found many new faces. Arranging my stuff on the seat, I sat next to an unknown, who later on turned into the best friend of my life. I entered my class with a welcoming smile, and later on, I turned everything in with ease. During our lunchtime, the cafeteria was filled with the energy of students.

At first, I hesitated to interact with the children, but later on, I was a part of a group that invited me to join the table. At lunchtime, I made many new friends and was no longer a stranger. After having delicious food and chit-chatting with friends, we get back to our respective classrooms. Different subjects such as mathematics, science, and English never left the same impact as they did on the first day of school.

The teacher taught the lessons so interestingly that we learned the chapter with a mix of laughter and learning. At the end of the day, we all went straight to the playground and enjoyed the swings. Moreover, in the playground, I also met many faces who were new to the school and had their first day in school, like me.

While returning home, I realised that my first day was not just about learning new subjects; it was about making new friends, sailing into new vibrant classrooms, and settling myself as a new student. The morning, which was full of uncertainty at the end of the day, came to an end with exciting adventures and endless possibilities. With new experiences, I look forward to new academic and personal growth in the wonderful world of education.

Remember, you are the expert on your story. This is an opportunity for you to reflect and understand who you are now, and who you want to be in the future. You have the agency to choose the information you want to share. This is your story: your experiences, your ideas, your perspective. 

A Few Writing Tips

Review the prompts thoroughly.  Be sure you’re answering the question or prompt being asked. Topics are chosen because the Admissions Committee wants to know specific things about you. If you don’t address them directly, we are left to make decisions regarding your application with incomplete information.
Consider your response carefully.  We understand that you may be writing responses for different schools and you may want to reuse material, but be sure to read through your response to make sure it is relevant to the prompt.
Double-check your writing.  Give yourself time to revisit your response. Try to avoid rushing your writing process so you have time to revise your work. Ultimately, it is up to you to polish and proofread your writing before you submit.
Do your research. Are there classes you’re eager to take? Research opportunities you’d love to pursue? A group or club you want to be a part of? This kind of specificity shows us you’re serious about Penn and have thought about how you’d spend your time here.

2023-24 Short Answer and Essay Prompts

When answering these prompts, be precise when explaining both why you are applying to Penn and why you have chosen to apply to that specific undergraduate school.
