Population Explosion Essay - 100, 200, 500 Words

Population Explosion Essay - Population refers to a group of living beings of the same kind as humans, animals or birds that lives in a specific habitat or specific place. Population explosion means a sudden and rapid growth in the population of a given place or area across a specified time. An increase in population at a normal pace is known as population growth. Here are a few sample essays on “Population Explosion” .

100 Words Essay on Population Explosion

The term population refers to the number of existing people in a particular area, place, city or country. Excessive population is a curse for any country as it is pretty challenging to manage and cope with the needs of people. It is because every country has a limited amount of resources, and it becomes impossible to manage the economy of the country in that scenario.

Population explosion creates many problems as it impacts the living standards of the people significantly. Generally, the country which suffers from this affair is in the developing or underdeveloped stages. Everybody suffers a lot due to this as the burden on resources has to be borne by the people themselves, which in turn leads to compromise on the basic amenities too.

200 Words Essay on Population Explosion

At a global level, presently, China is the most populous country in the world, accompanied by India in the second position. Research at a global level has concluded that the nations in their developing phase are more populous than the developed ones (Source: The World Population Prospects: The 2017 Revision, published by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.)

Impact of Population Explosion

The rising population leads to unemployment, exploitation of natural resources, excessive wastage of water, global warming, etc. Some major causes of the population explosion are illiteracy, low education level among women, etc. It leads to various problems like depletion of natural resources. Also, one of the most common problems is unemployment. The government becomes incapable of employing such a huge population. People are unaware of the fact that their next generation and heirs will have to face the repercussions of their deeds today.

China adopted the One-Child Policy, though it didn't work as per expectations . But our government should also formulate such a plan in order to curb the prevailing problem. The government should also take the initiative to promote a girl child because it is the mother who suffers physically and mentally in expectation to give birth to a male child.

500 Words Essay on Population Explosion

Presently, India accounts for around 17.5% of the total world population (Source: based on worldometer elaboration of the United Nations data.) CNN World writes, "It is estimated that India will surpass China almost by the year 2023 in terms of population." There has been an exponential growth in our population since our independence, i.e. 1947. The Population of India at the time of independence was around 34 crore, whereas we are expected to reach about 165 crore in the year 2050. (Source: Govt. of India)

Causes of Population Explosion

The major cause of the problem is low literacy among economically backward people. It is a common belief among them that more children will help them in solving their problem of poverty as they will have more hands to earn. Child marriages are prevalent in many Indian states even today. People are still gender-biased, and the desire to have a male child results in giving birth to more children.

Impacts of Population Explosion

This population explosion is impacting the entire globe. The significant increase in the population has led to the over utilisation of natural resources. Also, it has increased poverty among the people, and the gap between the rich and poor has increased dramatically. Not only these, but the cost of living has also significantly increased due to excess demand for basic necessities. Illiteracy has increased because more people cannot educate their children because they cannot afford it.

Examples of Population Explosion

There is a slum at an approximate distance of 5 km from our home. The slum-dwellers live a very unhealthy life. They do not have access to the basic amenities of life. The government is non-responsive to the needs of the people there. The men work as daily wage labourers in the nearby glass factory. Many times, the children are also found working at the same factory.

My friends and I got to know about this through a local newspaper. We decided to go to this place and see if we could do anything to improve their living conditions. Upon conducting a small survey, we learnt that almost all the houses had at least 4-5 children each. And the total population of the particular place showed shocking figures. We met with the district magistrate after an appointment and explained the situation. Also, we asked a few local people to accompany us so that the magistrate could listen to the problems and understand their pain.

When the magistrate learnt about the same, she immediately ordered her officers to accompany us and do the needful. We also took the initiative to make people understand the issue of population explosion and also organised various problems caused by the same. We motivated people to send their children to school. Also, the magistrate was very happy to see us working for the community and asked us to bring more such issues to her knowledge.

Equally, a good standard of living has to be provided to the children by educating them, providing them with healthy food and skill training, and also bringing an ample number of employment opportunities so that they can be an asset to the country.

Population Explosion Essay

500+ words population explosion essay.

Population explosion means a sudden increase in the number of individuals in a particular species. The term is used to refer to the world’s human population. In India, the Population explosion has become a severe matter of concern because the increase in population leads to poverty and illiteracy. In this situation, it is difficult to cope with the economy of the country with the rapid growth of the population. The Government of India is now looking into the matter seriously, and many states have framed laws to tackle the problem of population explosion.

Major Causes of Population Explosion

1. increase in birth rate.

One of the major causes for the growth of the population is the high birth rate. During the 1891-1990 period, the birth rate declined from 45.8 per thousand in India, but it is still considered high. So, unfortunately, in India, the birth rate has not seen a decrease in spite of the framing laws in terms of family planning, population education, campaigns, etc.

2. Decrease in Death Rate

In recent years, the decrease in the death rate has been another factor contributing to the rapid growth of the population. In 2001, the death rate in India was about 8.5 per thousand. The death rate has seen a decrease due to advancements in the medical field. For example, chronic diseases like typhoid, chickenpox, etc., are no longer dreaded. Even the infant mortality rate has decreased because of proper sanitation facilities, cleanliness, and better prenatal and postnatal care.

3. Early Marriage

Early marriage is also an essential factor in the rapid increase in population. In India, the marriage age of a girl is 18, which is very low compared to other countries, which is about 23 to 25 years. It leads to a longer span of reproductive activity.

4. Religious and Social Reasons

In India, marriage is considered a compulsory social institution, and every person should marry. Every individual in a joint family takes equal responsibility and has access to an equivalent level of consumption. So, people don’t hesitate to increase their family size to a joint family. In India, most people think that one male child is necessary, and in the expectation of getting a male child, they increase their family size.

Another major cause of the population explosion is poverty. In most families, children become the source of income. From a very young age, children start working for their families instead of going to school, and they become a precious asset to the family. So, every individual becomes an earning member and additional income for the family.

6. Standard of Living

It is seen that people with a low standard of living wish to have additional children as it will be an asset for them rather than a liability. As we know, most of India’s population is uneducated, so they don’t understand the importance of family planning. They are unaware that they can enjoy a better quality of life with a small family.

7. Illiteracy

In India, 60% of the population is either illiterate or has minimum education, which leads to minimal employment opportunities. So, due to the high illiteracy rate and belief in social customs, child marriage and preference for a male child still prevail. As a result, there is a rapid population growth rate in India.

Effects of Population Explosion

1. the problem of unemployment.

An increase in population leads to a vast army of the labour force. But, it is difficult to employ such extensive labour working force due to a shortage of capital resources. Disguised unemployment in rural areas and open unemployment in urban areas are fundamental features of an underdeveloped country like India.

2. More Pressure on Land

Overpopulation creates more pressure on land. It adversely affects the economic development of the country. On the one hand, per capita availability of land goes on diminishing and on the other, the problem of subdivision and fragmentation of holdings increases.

3. Environmental Degradation

Extensive use of natural resources and energy production of oil, natural gas, and coal negatively impacts the planet. An increase in population also leads to deforestation, which directly affects the environment, and it also degrades the soil’s nutritional value and causes landslides and global warming.

So, at last, we can wrap up the essay by stating that overpopulation is considered one of the biggest challenges humanity faces.

Overpopulation is by Far the Worst Kind of Pollution – Mokokoma Mokhonoana

Long Essay on Population Explosion

‘Population explosion refers to the sudden and drastic increase in population. Population explosion is associated with the time of rapid population growth, generally caused by factors such as high birth rates, reduced mortality rates, improved healthcare, and advancements in technology. In India, the period from 1951 to 1981 is referred to as the period of population explosion. During this period, the annual growth rate was 2.2 percent.

Causes of Population Explosion

Several factors are responsible for the population explosion in a country.

High Birth Rate

The high birth rate is one of the major causes of the population explosion. From 1951 to 1981, India’s population increased from 31 crore to 71 crore. This was mainly because of higher birth rates in both rural and urban areas. When the birth rate is higher than the death rate, there is an increase in population.

Reduced Mortality Rates

India’s current mortality rate is 9.45 deaths per 1000 inhabitants. With the advances in healthcare, sanitation, and medical technology, there is a decrease in mortality rates. It means the number of deaths per 1000 population is reduced and more people survive to reproductive age, leading to population growth.

High Level of Illiteracy

India’s current literacy rate is 77.7%. However, from 1951 to 1981, when there was a sudden increase in population, the literacy rate was only 18.33%. It was the low literacy rate during this period that resulted in a population explosion in India.

Religious and Social Factors

In several places, religious and social factors are responsible for population explosion. Some communities and religion’s beliefs promote large family size and contraception, impacting birth rates.

Early Marriage

The rapid increase in population is often associated with early marriage. In India, the legal marriage age for men is 21 and for women is 18. Early marriage results in a longer span of reproductive activity. In developed countries, the legal marriage age is generally 21 years or above.

When people migrate to different cities or countries, it impacts population growth. For example, immigration to urban areas can contribute to population explosion in those regions.

Gender Inequality

Societies with gender inequality experience higher birth rates, as women have limited control over family planning decisions. Societies with restricted women’s rights lack control over their bodies and decisions about childbirth. This can lead to unwanted pregnancies and higher fertility rates.

Impact of Population Explosion

Nature is the first victim of population explosion. As the global population increases, the demand for resources increases. From depletion of natural resources to economic crises, population explosion affects society as a whole.

Depletion of Natural Resources

With the increased human population, the demand for natural resources such as water, land, forests, and minerals increases. Overexploitation of these resources will eventually deplete natural ecosystems and disrupt ecological balance.

Deforestation

Humans need land to build houses. With increasing population, the need for land increases and there is only limited land available on Earth. This will result in deforestation as forests will be cleared for human settlement, agriculture, and infrastructure development. This will result in habitat loss for many plant and animal species.

Increased Unemployment and Poverty

An increase in population means a large number of workforce. However, there are not sufficient employment opportunities to sustain everyone. This will result in increased unemployment and poverty.

Increased Air and Water Pollution

Air and water pollution are the results of human activities. Increased population density is associated with increased industrialization and urbanization. This will result in increased air and water pollution. The release of toxic substances in water and air pollutes these life-saving resources.

Waste Generation

The increase in population leads to increased waste generation. Inadequate waste management can result in pollution of land, water bodies, and the atmosphere, posing threats to both human and environmental health.

Strategies and Policies to Address Population Explosion

Implementing realistic strategies and policies that promote sustainable population growth, improve reproductive health, and ensure the well-being of individuals and communities can surely help with population explosion.

Promotion of Family Planning Programmes

Easy access to family planning services like contraceptives and reproductive health education can be of great help to deal with population explosion. People must understand the importance of family planning and make civilised decisions.

Education and Women Empowerment

Investing in education and the empowerment of women can help build a just society. Women must become aware of the population explosion and its consequences. The promotion of gender equality will ensure that women have equal opportunities in education, employment, and decision-making.

Enhanced Healthcare Facilities

A strong healthcare system provides essential maternal and child health services, including antenatal care, safe childbirth, and postnatal care. However, people must have easy access to healthcare services to address issues related to maternal mortality and morbidity.

Public Awareness Campaigns

Public awareness campaigns can help with family planning and making informed decisions about having children. Media platforms and the internet can help raise awareness about reproductive health and family planning.

Global Cooperation

Overpopulation or population explosion is not a regional issue. Eventually, it will affect the world as a whole. Therefore, global cooperation is essential to address the population explosion. Moreover, it can create a platform where people from different backgrounds can put creative and innovative ideas to address the population explosion.

Essay 1 (250 – 300 Words) – Population Explosion

Introduction

When population crosses its healthy limit then this condition is known as population explosion. In India population explosion is at its peak. India is now ranked 1st in population statistics. In India family planning is necessary to be enacted and Govt needs to take this issue very seriously. Earlier in 2019 population bill was proposed but it was never enacted like other bills.

A burning question

This issue has been raised since independence by many members of parliament and at times the bill was almost passed but few members voted against the bill. Thus the bill was discussed but never enacted. BJP MP Ravi Kishan, Nishikant Dubey etc proposed private bill of members to tackle the issue of population explosion.

Current Scenario of India

By Feb 2023, statistics proved that India has taken over China in population. India has 1.42 billion population and china which was ranked first earlier, has 1.41 billion population. Population explosion is one of the most discussed topic in parliament, currently.

We as citizen of India need to seriously think and take the responsibility to follow the rules of family planning. BJP MP Ravi Kishan said in parliament that if India wants to become VISHWA GURU, then we need to enact two child policy and family planning rules.

Essay 2 (400 Words) – How to Control Population Explosion

India has been marked as one of the fastest developing countries. Development is good but it should have multiple dimensions. There should be growth but in certain terms. A nation’s development is decided in many ways like the economy, politics, education, trade, etc.

What is the Population Explosion

The drastic increase in population is termed as population explosion. The population is not bad but when it increases in an uncontrolled manner then it is not a good thing.

Every day thousands of children take birth and due to the development in the mortality rate, there is a drastic increase in population. Although, it is a good thing, in many ways, it has affected our population. India and China are the first two countries having the highest population and it is increasing day by day.

When the resources are less and people are more and they aren’t able to get the required things, then it is an alert, it directly affects the growth as well as the economy of the country. A nation will not be called developed unless people living there get basic facilities. These facilities are education, employment, proper food, and good living space. The population explosion directly affects all these factors.

How to Control Population Explosion

By Proper Advertisement : There should be proper advertisement of different birth control methods because there are many who don’t even know and many who feel shy to ask with someone. When there will be proper knowledge among people, they will think about it and will also use it.

Women Education : There are many parts of the nation where people do not focus on women’s education but it is necessary for many ways. An educated woman can think about her future she can make a decision and is helpful in many ways. Illiteracy is one of the major reasons behind overpopulation.

Some Government Initiatives : There are many countries that provide subsidies to the only first two children. Similarly, the central government also provides various benefits to the first two children only but this should be adopted everywhere. And the government should do a proper campaign to increase awareness among people.

Overpopulation is definitely a problem and is increasing day by day. It is quite true that the government should take certain majors still we should also try at our level. Colleges and other NGOs should organize different campaigns to promote awareness among people.

Essay 3 (500 – 600 Words) – Population Explosion: Reasons and Drawbacks

When anything increases in a continuous amount in an uncontrolled manner then it is known as an explosion. When it is in terms of human beings then it is termed as population explosion. It is for the first time in the history of Homo sapiens that the population has crossed more than 5 billion; although there is a lot of difference between the sex ratio of man and woman.

Reasons behind the Population Explosion

There are various reasons behind the population explosion I have discussed some of them below:

The Decrease in Mortality rate : Due to the development in the medical sector, there is a decrease in the mortality rate. Although it is good in many terms but is also one of the major reasons behind the population explosion. In other words, we can say that the less the death rate will be the more the population will grow.

Illiteracy : Illiteracy is another reason behind the increased population as India is a country where more than 50% of the population hails from villages. Also, a country where girl child mirage, the killing of girl child is common and, in this scenario, there are very few who care for their daughter’s education. I can say that many women are still illiterate. So, they don’t understand the importance of family planning and don’t know much about birth control methods.

Lack of New Principles : There are many countries that have laws and rules for children. As people can’t have more than one or two children. There is nothing like this in India and as a result, people are free and they have many children.

Some Cultural Hierarchy : Sometimes families also have 5 children just because everyone needs a boy so they keep on having a child every year unless it is a boy. It is also one of the major reasons behind the killing of a girl child. The Patriarchal society has made boys superior although there is nothing special about boys. Still, the cultural belief is still alive in many localities and this is also one of the major reasons behind population explosions in our country.

Drawbacks of Population Explosion

Too much of anything is harmful either it is vitamins and minerals or population. They cause some imbalance in a society which is not good in many terms.

Poverty : India is a country where you can find a large number of poor. The more members will be in a family the more the family should earn and when they fail to manage things, it automatically hinders them to fulfil some basic needs. This leads to poverty. Although India is a developing nation there are many equally poor.

Unemployment : One of the main problems which can be easily seen. Nowadays there are very few jobs in comparison to the population. When more people will be unemployed it will automatically lead to poverty. There should be a balance in everything then only there is peace and harmony in a society.

Increase in Crime : We can say that poverty and unemployment are directly proportional to the crime. When people will not have money and not even any source of earning it, they will tend toward some negative acts. And nowadays you can daily read news of robbery or loot in the new paper. The crime rate is increasing day by day.

The population explosion has many drawbacks and there is nothing positive in it. We should bring a certain rule to control it. Although there are many benefits provided by the central government, still there are many who don’t even know about it. Various campaigns should be organized to develop awareness among people.

Population Essay (150, 200, & More Words)

Think of population as the total number of people on a team. Just like each team member plays a different role, each person in a population has their own story and impact on the world.

Population doesn’t just talk about how many people there are, but also where they live, how old they are, and how they live their lives.

The number of people living in an area can change many things. It can decide how many schools, hospitals, or houses are needed.

It can also affect things like how much food and water we need, and how much space and nature we have. At the same time, things like how many babies are born, how long people live, and if people move in or out can change the population.

Population Essay In English 150 Words

Our world has a lot of people – over 7.8 billion as of 2021. Every day, this number goes up as more babies are born and people live longer. This is what we call population growth.

Population Essay

Population growth changes our world. When there are more people, we need more food, water, houses, schools, and hospitals. It can be tough because sometimes, there isn’t enough for everyone. We might also harm nature by using more resources.

On the other hand, a bigger population can be good. More people mean more ideas, more workers, and more opportunities for everyone.

But the way the population grows can also cause issues. For instance, if too many people live in one place, it can be crowded and lead to problems like traffic and pollution.

Population Essay 200 Words

Understanding population is important. It helps us learn from our past, live in the present, and plan for the future. Each one of us has a part to play in shaping the future of our growing world.

Population Essay

Population explosion means the sudden and fast increase in the number of people in the world. As of 2021, there were over 7.8 billion people. This is a huge increase from a century ago, and the number keeps growing quickly.

When the population explodes, it can cause problems. The first issue is resources. More people need more food, water, homes, and services like education and health care. Sometimes, there isn’t enough for everyone. This can lead to poverty and hardship for many people.

Second, a rapid increase in population can hurt the environment. To build more homes or grow more food, we often cut down trees and use more water. This can lead to less clean air, less clean water, and fewer homes for animals.

Lastly, when a lot of people live in one area, it can become very crowded. This can lead to issues like heavy traffic, lack of open spaces, and increased pollution.

But population explosion is not just a problem, it’s also a challenge. It pushes us to find better ways to live, like using resources wisely and making cities better for everyone. Understanding and managing population explosion is one of the most important tasks for us, as it will shape our future world.

Population of india essay

India, known for its rich culture and history, is also known for its large population. As of my last knowledge update in 2021, India had over 1.3 billion people, making it the second most populated country in the world, after China.

India’s large population is both a strength and a challenge. On one hand, it gives India a lot of young people who can work and contribute to the country’s growth. This is sometimes called a ‘demographic dividend’, which means India has many people in their working years, which can boost the economy.

On the other hand, having so many people can also create problems. For instance, it can be hard to make sure everyone has enough to eat, a good education, and proper healthcare. It can also mean that jobs are harder to find because there are so many people looking for work.

Another problem can be the strain on the environment. More people means more resources are used, and this can lead to issues like pollution and deforestation.

However, India has been working to tackle these challenges. The government has programs for things like improving education, healthcare, and creating jobs.

Understanding India’s population helps us to understand India better. It tells us about the country’s past, its present challenges, and its potential for the future.

Short Essay on Population Explosion

500+ Words Essay on Population Explosion

Introduction.

Population explosion refers to the rapid increase in the population of an area. For a developing country, it is a great problem to deal with this problem and meet the demands of the population at a given time. Despite being a concerning issue, it is not addressed by the government of these countries.

Population explosion leads to many other problems in a country such as meeting the daily needs of the population, providing employment, preventing social injustices and maintaining internal peace etc. If countries do not find a resolution soon, the earth will have to face severe consequences in the near future.

MAJOR REASONS

There are many reasons for the population explosion. Some of the major reasons are discussed below. These reasons significantly contribute to the population explosion.

Illiteracy is one of the primary reasons for population growth in a country. Illiterate people do not understand the importance of family planning and thus bear many children.

Child Marriage

Child marriage is the second major reason in developing countries that greatly contributes to rapid population growth. Lack of sex education and childbirth prevention methods leads to more children.

Women Education

In society, men and women both hold equal importance but it is seen that women’s education is still an issue in developing countries. Uneducated women have no choice than being dependent on others and hence they are married as soon as possible.

Poor Mentality

This is the most disgusting reason, at least I find. The poor mentality of people leads to a population explosion. They think more children means more wealth arriving at home. Another kind of people thinks children are god’s gift so conceive as many children as possible.

A Decrease in Infant Mortality Rate

Due to better medical services and facilities, we are able to minimize this rate and now only a few cases of death are known per thousand death.

The Life Expectancy Growth

Due to the betterment of lifestyle, we have increased the life expectancy of people. This is the reason behind the huge population at a given time.

Population explosion impacts the economy and natural resources. Here is a list of impacts due to the population explosion.

Unemployment

With the growth of the population, the demand for jobs and employment also increases. but to meet the supply of employment for a huge population is not easy. Hence, Unemployment is one of the greatest outcomes of population explosion.

Due to a lack of employment, people do not meet their daily needs and live their lives below the general standards of living. This is called a state of poverty.

Economic Decline

Having a huge population, a country faces a huge demand for resources. To meet this demand, there are chances to import more and export less. This alone can be a reason for economic decline in a country.

HOW TO DEAL WITH POPULATION EXPLOSION

There are many ways by which we can control a population explosion. The government can take steps to aware of the people about the various ways that can help in controlling the population. Also, it should execute some strong campaigns for family planning and birth control.

To conclude, population explosion impacts society, the economy, human life and the world. In a country, it produces a problematic situation that drives various challenges for a country such as unemployment, poverty, child labour, exploitation of labour, bribe culture etc. If it is controlled, many other problems will come to an end automatically.

Essay on Population Explosion- Causes

Define population explosion.

Population Explosion Essay (1000 Words)

Population explosion has been a major concern in some countries. For India , it is in a continuous dramatic phase.

The rapid growth of people in a certain area gives rise to this issue. Should the government take any major step or significant rule to bring this to an end?

What should be your contribution to this revolutionary change? Well, these questions have the right answers.

Some proper majors can play important roles in this major issue. You will find them right here, within this content.

Population Explosion Meaning

When you search for it on Google, an explanation pops up. It shows that there has been a sudden and large increase in the size of the population .

In an area, the number of people increases over time. When it gets a boost within a few calendar days, this is something major to focus on.

The increase in the number of people within a confined region or place gives rise to this major issue. Many countries these days come across such issues. You find a higher population rate in cities than in villages .

However, things were different in the past. Due to the revolution in industries, IT departments, finance sectors, and all other economic points, cities have become the centres of attraction. With

Population Explosion in India

That’s what the population explosion looks like. It is the increasing number of people in a selected area.

For India, this has been a major issue since its independence. During those periods, the number of people was not like today’s growth.

Even if a large number of people were there, it was still acceptable. Due to the lack of improvements in medical science, many suffer from life-taking diseases like diarrhoea, chickenpox, measles, and much more.

Those were tough times to survive these deadly epidemics. Medical science wasn’t that popular with certain permanent cures.

Things are different with time. With certain revolutions in such sectors, people won’t fall for these traps.

In different cases, some epidemics in the past played huge roles in the elimination of a mass number of citizens.

With proper medication with revolution, the death ratio receives a declining graph. That raises the population rate.

Causes of Population Explosion

The term population explosion or overpopulation signifies a lot of reasons . Each human has the authority to claim the natural resources of the earth.

Due to this rising issue, it may get slightly compromised in different circumstances.

Some unique reasons are there that explain these bizarre conditions:

1. Falling Mortality Rate

According to the WHO, there were 8.8 million infant deaths in 1990. However, the numbers were not the same in 2017.

The reduced number was 4.1 million. It was like half of the population had managed.

At the same time, the lifespans of people are increasing around the world. As per the survey, the global average life expectancy has doubled since 1900.

With the advancements in technology , medicine, and general hygiene , the death rate is declining.

Falling mortality rates are just one explanation for the mathematical increasing rates in population numbers with fewer fatalities.

2. Underutilised Contraception

With the steady fall of the global fertility rate, the numbers are still not enough to control overpopulation. In the 1950s, a woman gave birth to five children on average. As per today’s calculation, the average value is 2.4.

This is a promising trend among all literate couples. Yet, most parts of the globe have not accepted the concept.

With the inclusion of religious beliefs and social norms, women just fail to plan properly for their family-making processes.

The unintended rate of pregnancy was about 44% between 2010 and 2014. With the lack of family planning methods among women, overpopulation arises unknowingly.

3. Lack of Female Education

With higher possibilities, a woman should know her priorities in family planning. However, this mindset or education process is not that simple to conduct.

Although female education around the world has positive responses to growth, the gender gap still exists.

With a rough estimation, around 130 million girls around the world can’t make it to their primary school. Encouraging education among women is the factor that is lacking.

So, this gives rise to the worst Population Explosion in different under-developed or undeveloped areas.

Effects & Consequences of Population Explosion

A logical reason for this Population Explosion issue is the reduction and strain on resources. It is like an additional burden on mother nature and all its natural products.

More people increase higher demands for water, food, housing, healthcare, energy, transportation, and more.

Here are some major consequences that overpopulation can generate:

1. Increased Conflicts

Well, higher population growth can trigger many significant conflicts, like political unrest and violence. The trigger in terms of the number of people is not good for any environmental stability. It generates natural disruption in different sectors.

Wars from the past are the best examples. What are the reasons for all those conflicts? Well, they are about land, water, and energy resources.

War zones were there in the middle-east or other regions of the earth . What are these conflicts telling us? The major part of these issues takes over due to overpopulation.

2. Ecological Degradation

With the increasing rate of population, the creation of pressure on ecological sections is obvious.

It starts with more deforestation , degradation of biodiversity, emissions of pollution , and higher climate changes . Apart from these effects, some uncommon issues are still there.

This issue won’t stop unless the government and citizens both do something. The higher population can lead to ecological disruption.

Also, it threatens the collapse of life on earth. As per the current population spike, this is a major concern for all ecologists around the world.

Scientists have found a result from recent research that a family with one fewer child can reduce the amount of CO2 emissions by 58.6 tonnes. That’s a big number to count.

3. Higher Risk of Pandemics and Disasters

The growing number of people provokes many devastating pandemics. The human world has witnessed a lot of tough situations, such as COVID-19, Ebla, Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, Spanish Flu, and much more.

The chances of getting into such tough periods are increased with a higher population rate. The encounters with diseases are due to a period of increased outbreak activity. The world is destroying the wildlife habitats of the world.

Coming into contact with wild animals regularly reduces the chances of different deadly diseases. With a higher population, you can clearly understand how difficult it is for us to keep social distance amid the pandemic.

Population Explosion Control Tips

When you talk about overpopulation, this tends to be a serious discussion. The controlling fact, it requires empowerment and awareness among all groups of people.

This time, every person should understand what is significant to put an end to this overgrowing population.

Combo efforts can make a huge change. They are about spreading awareness and reducing myths or false beliefs in your mind.

With the right order of raising listeners to this query can solve the issue. It is not about a one-time movement.

Also, negotiating some major steps towards limiting the number of children is important. Practising a few steps like family planning, safe intercourse, and educating each person in different areas can solve the explosion rate.

Population Explosion and Birth Control

The relationship between birth control and overpopulation is quite significant. They are just directly proportional, to say in mathematical terms. The higher the birth rate, the higher the population growth.

Explaining birth control signifies preventing pregnancy, controlling the growth of the population, and raising awareness of the protection of STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases).

An artificial method is there to prevent pregnancy after a consequence of sexual intercourse. Its name is contraception.

The methods come with the following steps to conduct:

  • Prevent the egg production.
  • Do not let sperm get attached to the lining of the womb.
  • Keep the egg separate from the sperm.

Also, fifteen to twenty types of contraceptive methods are there. They are not 100% safe and ideal. However, these procedures promise a low rate of risk.

The following methods are the safest:

  • Injectables.
  • Surgical methods.
  • Oral contraceptives.
  • Abstinence.
  • Natural/Traditional method.

Controlling the population is quite a major issue in different regions of the world. Still, countries and their governments must take some significant steps to make things move.

A few practises are necessary to promote the prevention of population explosion. With the right use of awareness and birth rate control, prevention will be easier.

The problem of population explosion is a common one across all countries. However, some countries like India, China, the USA, and Indonesia are the major regions.

The rapid growth of people may be subject to unstable social progress with lousy economic growth. For sustainable management of natural resources, it is important to take control of this matter.

However, there is a sizable difference between the social and private interests in the reduction of the fertility rate. The more people get to know about such problems, the easier it is to achieve this rate under control.

Essay on Population Growth

One of the major problems the world is facing is the problem of the exponential growth of the population. This problem is the greatest one. Most countries in the world are showing a steep rise in population figures. The world’s resources are limited and so they cannot support a population beyond a certain limit. There has been news about the scarcity of food grains and the paucity of jobs mounting across the world. The number of human beings is multiplying at a steady rate. The world population has already crossed the six billion mark and it is expected to double in the next three or four decades.

If the population continues to grow at this rate then the economy of the overpopulated countries will be unable to cope up with the growth of the population. Every attempt to bring peace, comfort and welfare to everybody’s door will be thwarted and misery will become prominent if the population is not kept within proper limits. Except for a few countries, all countries are facing a population boom. Currently, the largest populated country in the world is China and India is the second-largest populated country. India represents 17% of the world’s population. Other countries like Bangladesh, Japan, Indonesia and some countries of Europe are threatened to be burst into the seams by population explosion.

Causes of Population Growth

The major cause of population growth is the decrease in death rate and rise in the life span of the average individual. Earlier, there was a balance between the birth and death rate due to limited medical facilities, people dying in wars, and other calamities. The rapid spread of education has made people health conscious. People have become aware of the basic causes of diseases and simple remedies for them.

Illiteracy is another cause of an increase in population. Low literacy rate leads to traditional, superstitious, and ignorant people. Educated people are well aware of birth control methods.

Family planning, welfare programs, and policies have not fetched the desired result. The increase in population is putting tremendous pressure on the limited infrastructure and negating the progress of any country.

The superstitious people mainly from rural places think that having a male child would give them prosperity and so there is considerable pressure on the parents to produce children till a male child is born. This leads to population growth in underdeveloped countries like India, Bangladesh.

Poverty is another main reason for this. Poor people believe that the more people in the family, the more will be the number of persons to earn bread. Hence it contributes to the increase in population.

Continuous illegal migration of people from neighbouring countries leads to a rise in the population density in the countries.

Religion sentiment is another cause of the population explosion. Some orthodox communities believe that any mandate or statutory method of prohibition is sacrilegious.

Impact Due to Population

The growth of the population has a major impact on the living standards of people. Overpopulation across the world may create more demand for freshwater supply and this has become a major issue because Earth has only 3% of freshwater.

The natural resources of Earth are getting depleted because of the exponential growth of the population. These resources cannot be replenished so easily. If there is no check on the growth of population then there will be a day in the next few years when these natural resources will run out completely.

There is a huge impact on the climatic conditions because of the growth of the population. Human activities are responsible for changing global temperature.

Impact of Overpopulation on Earth’s Environment

The Earth's current population is almost 7.6 billion people, and it is expanding. It is expected to surpass 8 billion people by 2025, 9 billion by 2040, and 11 billion by 2100. The population is quickly increasing, far surpassing our planet's ability to maintain it, given existing habits.

Overpopulation is linked to a variety of detrimental environmental and economic consequences, including over-farming, deforestation, and water pollution, as well as eutrophication and global warming. Although many incredible things are being done to increase human sustainability on our planet, the problem of too many people has made long-term solutions more difficult to come across.

Overpopulation is mostly due to trends that began with a rise in birth rates in the mid-twentieth century. Migration can also result in overcrowding in certain areas. Surprisingly, an area's overcrowding may arise without a net increase in population. It can happen when a population with an export-oriented economy outgrows its carrying capacity and migratory patterns remain stable. "Demographic entrapment" has been coined to describe this situation.

Some Major Effects of the High Population are as Follows

The rapid growth of the population has caused major effects on our planet.

The rapidly growing population in the world has led to the problem of food scarcity and heavy pressure on land resources.

Generating employment opportunities in vastly populated countries is very difficult.

The development of infrastructural facilities is not able to cope up with the pace of a growing population. So facilities like transportation, communication, housing, education, and healthcare are becoming inadequate to provide provision to the people.

The increasing population leads to unequal distribution of income and inequalities among the people widened.

There will be a large proportion of unproductive consumers due to overpopulation.

Economic development is bound to be slower in developing countries in which the population is growing at a very fast rate. This also leads to low capital formation. Overpopulation makes it difficult to implement policies.

When there is rapid growth in a country then the government of that country is required to provide the minimum facilities for the people for their comfortable living. Hence, it has to increase housing, education, public health, communication and other facilities that will increase the cost of the social overheads.

Rapid population growth is also an indication of the wastage of natural resources.

Preventive Measures

To tackle this problem, the government of developing countries needs to take corrective measures. The entire development of the country depends on how effectively the population explosion is stemmed.

The government and various NGOs should raise awareness about family planning and welfare. Awareness about the use of contraceptive pills and family planning methods should be generated.

The health care centres in developing and under-developed countries should help the poor people with the free distribution of contraceptives and encourage the control of the number of children.

The governments of developing countries should come forward to empower women and improve the status of women and girls. People in rural places should be educated and modern amenities should be provided for recreation.

Education plays a major role in controlling the population. People from developing countries should be educated so that they understand the implications of overpopulation.

Short Summarised Points On Population Growth

Based on the number of deaths and births, population growth might be positive or negative.

If a country's birth rate outnumbers its death rate, the population grows, whereas more ends result in a drop.

There are 7.7 billion people on the earth, and India, with 1.3 billion people, is the second-most populous country after China.

Mumbai, the Bollywood capital, is India's most populous city, with a population of 12 billion people. Delhi, India's most populous city, comes in second with 11 billion inhabitants.

The advancement of knowledge in science, medicine, and technology has resulted in lower mortality and higher fertility, resulting in population rise.

Factors contributing to India's population expansion, such as mortality and fertility rates, child marriage, a lack of family planning, polygamy marriage, and so on, have wreaked havoc on the ecosystem.

Industrialization, deforestation, urbanisation, and unemployment have all been exacerbated by population expansion. These causes degrade our environment and contribute to societal health issues.

Pollution, global warming, climate change, natural catastrophes, and, most importantly, unemployment are all caused by the population.

To keep population increase under control, individuals must have access to education and be aware of the dangers of overpopulation.

The government must raise public awareness about illiteracy and educate individuals about the need for birth control and family planning.

Overpopulation may lead to many issues like depletion of natural resources, environmental pollution and degradation and loss of surroundings.  All countries must take immediate steps to control and manage human population growth.

Essay on Population Explosion Boon Or Bane

Students are often asked to write an essay on Population Explosion Boon Or Bane in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Population Explosion Boon Or Bane

What is population explosion.

A population explosion means a very fast increase in the number of people. This happens when births are much more than deaths. Many countries, especially in Asia and Africa, are seeing their numbers grow very quickly.

Benefits of More People

More people can mean more ideas and more workers. This can lead to bigger economies and more things being made. Countries with lots of young people can have a strong workforce to build and create.

Challenges of Many People

Too many people can lead to not enough food, water, or houses. Schools may become too full, and hospitals may not have enough room for sick people. Jobs can be hard to find when there are too many workers.

Finding Balance

Countries need to balance their growth. They should make sure there are enough resources and jobs. Planning and good rules can turn a population boom into a chance for growth and wealth.

250 Words Essay on Population Explosion Boon Or Bane

Population explosion means a huge growth in the number of people. Imagine a balloon getting bigger and bigger as you fill it with air. Just like that, our world is getting filled with more people every day.

Is it Good?

Some people say having more people is good. They think more people means more hands to work, more brains to think of new ideas, and more power to a country. In places where there are not enough people, having more can be helpful. They can grow more food, build more houses, and make new things.

Or is it Bad?

But too many people can also be a problem. When there are too many people, there may not be enough food, water, or homes for everyone. Schools may become too full, and hospitals may not have room for sick people. Jobs can become hard to find, and roads can get too crowded.

What Can We Do?

We need to find a balance. It’s important to make sure there is enough for everyone. Countries can teach people about family planning. This way, families can have the number of children they can take care of. We can also use technology to make more food and find better ways to share what we have.

In conclusion, a population explosion can be good or bad. It depends on how well a place can take care of more people. We must work together to make sure everyone has what they need to live a good life.

500 Words Essay on Population Explosion Boon Or Bane

Introduction to population explosion.

Population explosion means a huge growth in the number of people living in a place. Imagine a small garden. If too many plants start growing in it, they may not have enough space and food to grow well. Like the garden, our world has a limit on how many people it can support with food, water, and homes.

When Population Growth is Good

More people can be a good thing in some ways. With more people, we have more minds to think of new ideas and more hands to work. Young people can take care of older ones. More people can also mean a bigger army to protect the country. Companies can make more things and sell them to more customers. This can make the country richer and stronger.

The Downside of Too Many People

But too many people can also cause problems. When there are too many people, there might not be enough food, water, or homes for everyone. Schools may become too full, and hospitals may not have enough beds for the sick. Roads can become too crowded, making it hard to travel. Jobs may be hard to find, leading to poverty and unhappiness.

Effect on Resources

Our Earth has a limited amount of resources like water, coal, and oil. When the population grows too much, we use up these resources quickly. This can lead to shortages, making life difficult for everyone. Clean water might become rare, and without enough fuel, we can’t run cars or factories.

Impact on the Environment

A big population also hurts the environment. More people means more trash and pollution. Forests may be cut down for homes and farms, which can harm animals and plants. Air and water can get dirty, making people sick and changing the weather in bad ways.

Planning for the Future

To make sure the population explosion is more of a boon than a bane, countries need to plan. They should teach people about family planning so families have only as many children as they can care for. Governments should also make sure there are enough schools, hospitals, and jobs for everyone.

In the end, whether a growing population is good or bad depends on how well a country prepares for it. If a country plans well, more people can mean more progress and happiness. But without good planning, too many people can lead to less food, dirty water, and a sad life for many. It’s like a garden; with the right care, it can be full of life and beauty, but without it, it can become crowded and wilted.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

Essay on Population Growth for Students and Children

500+ words essay on population growth.

There are currently 7.7 billion people on our planet. India itself has a population of 1.3 billion people. And the population of the world is rising steadily year on year. This increase in the population, i.e. the number of people inhabiting our planet is what we call population growth. In this essay on population growth, we will see the reasons and the effects of this phenomenon on our planet and our societies.

One important feature of population growth is that over the last century it has shown exponential growth. When the pattern of increase is by a fixed quantity, we call this linear growth, for example, 3, 5, 7, 9 and so on. Exponential growth shows an increase by a fixed percentage, for example, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and so on. This exponential growth is the reason our population has seen such an immense increase over the past century and a half.

essay on population growth

Causes of Population Growth

To fully understand the phenomenon, in this essay on population growth we will discuss some of its causes. Understanding the reasons for such exponential growth will help us better understand how to plan for the future. So let us begin with one of the main causes, which is the decline in the mortality rate.

Over the last century, we have made some very significant and notable advancements in medicine, science, and technology. We have invented vaccines, found new treatments and even almost completely eradicated some life-threatening diseases. This means that people now have a much higher life expectancy than their ancestors.

Along with the decrease in mortality rate, these advancements in medicine and science have also boosted the birth rates. We now have ways to help those with infertility and reproductive problems. Hence, birth rates around the world have also seen massive improvements. This coupled with slowing mortality rates has caused overpopulation.

Often the lack of proper education is also stated as the culprit of rampant overpopulation. People around the world need to be made aware of the ill-effects of global overpopulation. Values of family planning and sustainable growth needs to be instilled not only in children but adults also. The lack of this awareness and education is one of the reasons for this growth in population.

Effects of Population Growth

This exponential population growth that our planet has experienced over the last 150 years has had some severe negative effects. The most obvious and common impact is that overpopulation has put a great strain on the natural resources of the earth. As we know, some of the resources available to us come in limited quantities, for example, fossil fuels. When the population explosion happened, these resources are becoming rarer and will one day run out completely.

The increased population had also lead to increased pollution and industrialization . This has adversely affected our natural environment leading to more health problems in the majority of the population. And as the population keeps growing, the poorer countries are running out of food and other resources causing famines and various such disasters.

And as we are currently noticing in India, overpopulation also leads to massive unemployment. Overall the economic and financial condition of densely populated regions deteriorates due to the population explosion.

Population Explosion Essay, 450 Words

By: Haque | For Class: 9-10 | 22-05-2022

Introduction: The population problem is one of the major problems in Bangladesh. As the days go by, the problem is creating more and more anxiety.

Current Population Situation in Bangladesh: Bangladesh is the most densely populated country in the world. It is a small country of 56 thousand square miles. But its population is seventeen crores. The country has a population of 3,277 people per square mile. More than two million people are added to our population every year. The rate of population growth in Bangladesh is still out of control. New houses are being built every day. So, the cultivable land is decreasing rapidly. This small amount of land can never produce enough crops. Therefore, we have to pull the reins of the population explosion.

Why population is a Problem: The population of a country is the biggest asset of that country. But this becomes a problem when the country cannot provide the necessary food and clothing to the people. The population of the country is increasing day by day. But food production cannot keep pace with our growing population.

The high growth rate of our population causes problems in every area of our lives. It creates problems for food, clothing, housing, health, education, and employment. If our population continues to grow at the current rate, the country’s population will double in the next twenty years. Then the need for food, clothing, shelter, and school will also double. But there is no possible way to meet this increased demand. So, population growth is a burning question in Bangladesh.

Remedial Measures: We should take family planning measures. No family should have more than two children. We need to make women aware through education. Child marriage should be banned.

Conclusion: We need to control population growth for our survival.

A Paragraph on Population Explosion

By: Haque | Words: 150 | For Class: 6-8

Write a paragraph about population growth, in other words population explosion. Include answers to the following questions in your paragraph:

  • What is the population of our country?
  • What is the rate of population growth?
  • How many people live here per square kilometer?
  • What is the amount of cultivable land per capita in Bangladesh?
  • How does a high rate of population growth hurt the economy?

Population growth is a great problem. Our country is burdened with one hundred and eighty million people. This is because of our high birth rate. Our density of population is 1265 per square kilometer and growth rate is 12.03 per thousand. This is why this called population explosion. This high rate of population hampers the economic development of the country because the excess population needs food, clothes, housing, medical, educational and employment facilities. For our large population there is only 0.04 hectare of cultivable land per head. It is not enough to provide us with the bare necessary amount of food for our existence. Moreover, the increased number of children only consume but cannot do anything for economic development. In the practical sense of the term our population is increasing like mice. If this growth is not controlled effectively, our country will face a great problem in future.

Paragraph about Overpopulation

In 100 words, for class 4 to 8

When there are too many people in a country, compared to its size and available resources, it is called overpopulated. Overpopulation causes serious economic, social and political problems. It’s also one of the principal causes of poverty, malnutrition, illiteracy and backwardness. The size of the population is directly related to the quality of life of the people in a country. A country with a small population is generally better off then one with a large population. A country, with a large population and limited resources, can’t provide to its population even the bare necessities of life. So, a balance between population and resources is important.

Essay on Population Explosion in India

By: Haque | 1100 words | 22-05-2022

The population in India is expanding at an alarming rate. According to the 2011 census, the population of India is about 121.05 crore. The population in 2001 being about 102.8 crores, there has been an increase of about 17.7 percent in one decade. If we compare these figures with figures of earlier censuses, we come to the conclusion that on average the increase in population every ten years has been about 25 percent. Despite various measures having been adopted, we have not been able to reduce this percentage substantially. The result is that we are threatened with population explosion and are heading towards over-population. Over-population is a phenomenon in which the population is greater than the available resources. This stage is likely to be reached in the very near future in India. Over-population is fraught with serious dangers. Hunger, disease, squalor, famine, malnutrition are the concomitants of the population. India’s expanding population is causing us concern for we are adding about 1.8 crores of people to our already large population every year. The teeming millions have created the problem of space. The housing problem is assuming alarming proportions. Roads are crowded and there are traffic jams . Trains and buses become so overcrowded that travel itself has become virtually a great adventure. Educational institutions are facing admission problems. Owing to the absence of a coordinated approach to meet the challenges educational standards are fast sliding down, nay, there are no standards now. All our developmental efforts will bring no relief to the poor, no substantial rise in a standard of living if our numbers go on increasing at the present alarming rate. In India, with over 102 crore people already inhabiting the land, any further substantial increase in numbers will wreak disaster more destructive than the devastation caused by atomic bombs.

An exceptionally higher decline in death rate as compared to birth rate, high infant mortality rate, low female literacy rate, the marriage of girls at an early age, high incidence of poverty , hot climate, social and religious taboos, eagerness for sons are some of the major causes of population. Recently we have witnessed a significant exodus of foreign people from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and some countries of Africa. For some time past some political causes have also been responsible for inhibiting certain sections of the population from limiting the size of their families. Since in democracy it is the numbers that count, the Muslims and Scheduled Caste/ Tribes people do not generally take to family planning because they wish to increase the percentage of the population of their community in the entire population. No wonder, therefore, the increase of the Muslim population is proportionately greater than that of Hindus. The burning desire in every couple for having a male child in the family more often than not contributes to the swelling of the family. They will not stop producing children till a male child is born. All the causes described above have contributed to the phenomenal expansion of our population so much that we shudder to think of the state of affairs about fifty years hence when the population will become unmanageable if population increase is not brought within proper control.

We should, therefore, accord top priority to the program of population control. The first very important thing is the need to secure universal education for our population. The traditional view about large families must be changed by education. There is every need to raise the standard of living of our people. The standard of living and size of the family go together. Family planning programs must be implemented vigorously. All efforts must be made to popularize methods of population control. Besides incentives that are offered to couples undergoing family planning, certain disincentives are equally necessary. China is a very notable example before us. By sticking to one child one family norm they have largely succeeded in substantially bringing down the percentage of population increase every year. We have no alternative but to emulate China’s example and enforce family planning programs firmly without making any distinction between different sections of the population on the basis of tradition or the so-called religion. Results would be disastrous for us if the population of India continues to grow at the present speed. We should co-operate with the Government in making its population control measures a success. Every department of the government must put the family welfare program at the top of its priorities. Sizable funds earmarked for family planning in every plan must now produce results and the years to come must witness a substantial reduction in population increase percentage.

Simultaneous with measures being taken for population control, the pace of development and generation of additional resources should be accelerated so as to forestall the onset of the stage of overpopulation.

There is a controversy regarding embryo testing. Embryo testing is resorted to by couples to determine whether there is a female or a male child in the womb. Abortion is carried out in case the sex of the child is different from what they wish to have. From the human point of view, it may be regarded as a criminal act and a large number of people are certainly against this practice. But if this measure helps in curbing population growth, embryo testing may be legalized in the same manner in which abortion or medical termination of pregnancy has been legalized. There is no point in having unwanted children and having to bear the burden of a rapidly rising population. This legalization must however be done with some necessary precaution and restrictions with a view to ensuring that this practice does not lead to the disturbing of male-female proportion in the population. The Parliament of India, however, passed in August 1994, legislation that makes it illegal and criminal to resort to embryo testing in any way. It has allowed it only in medically recommended cases. Perhaps the measure has been enacted so as to put restrictions on the people of India who have the tendency to misuse scientific techniques. Whatever the case, it is essential that further rapid rise in population is stopped at the earliest possible.

Population Policy-2000 The government is wide awake to the dangers of overpopulation. It is with this fact in mind that a Population Policy-2000 has been formulated. The policy aims at the stabilization of India’s population by 2045. It has to reduce the total fertility rate to 2:1 at the replacement level by 2010. A population commission, with the Prime Minister as its head, has also been constituted to monitor progress as a result of the implementation of measures of population control. Let us hope we succeed in preventing the incidence of overpopulation.

In that sense, the huge population has become a problem for Bangladesh as this country cannot provide for the rudimentary needs of all the people of the country.

Reasons for the Increase in Population: There are some reasons behind the excessive increase in the population. The reasons are as follows:

01. Illiteracy: Illiteracy is one of the main reasons for the increase in population. They are unaware of the terrible consequences of the excessive population. They do not try to understand the advantages of family planning.

02. Tropical Climate: Bangladesh has a tropical climate. This warm and humid climate helps the people of the country attain puberty soon. It also results in more sexual activities among people.

04. Polygamy: Polygamy is also liable to some extent for the population problem. Many people in the country take more than one wife and have more children.

05. Religious Feeling: Some people consider family planning anti-religious. This also contributes to the increase in population.

06. Want of Recreational Facilities: The want of recreational facilities in villages is also a reason for more sexual activities and more children.

Impact of Overpopulation: Overpopulation has a negative impact on the development and economy of the country. It causes food shortages, communication problems, health problems, shelter problems, medical problems, unemployment, and poverty.

Preventive Measures: Certain things are needed to be done to check this overpopulation:

01. People should be motivated to use family planning methods. In this respect, family planning methods should be made available to people.

02. Every person in the country should be provided with education. For this purpose compulsory primary education and adult education programs should be strengthened.

03. Early marriage and polygamy must be stopped by properly enforcing existing laws.

04. Steps need to be taken to export skilled and unskilled manpower to foreign countries.

05. Our population should be made into a strength by providing vocational and technical education to them.

Conclusion: The government of Bangladesh has given much stress on population control by identifying it as one of the main problems of the country. So, we should help the government in this respect.

Population Essay 1 (200 words)

The world population is increasing at a very fast pace. The last five to six decades have especially seen a tremendous growth in the human population. There are several reasons for the same. One of the main reasons for this is the development in the field of medical science that has brought down the death rate. Another reason is the growing birth rate especially in the poor and developing countries. Lack of education and lack of family planning are among the top reasons for the high birth rate in these countries.

Ironically, while the human population is increasing rapidly, the population of animals and birds is decreasing by the day. In an attempt to satisfy their needs, the humans are cutting down on forests that serve as a shelter for the wild animals. Several species of animals and birds have been impacted due to this. The growing pollution due to the ever increasing traffic and the establishment of various industries is another reason for the decrease in population of the fauna. This is because it is having a negative impact on the weather.

It is time the governments of the countries with high population must take strict measures to control the same else our planet will no longer be fit for the survival of the mankind.

Population Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

Population is a commonly used term to denote the number of people living at a place. The density of population in different parts of the world varies drastically owing to several reasons.

Uneven Distribution of Population

Population on earth is distributed unevenly. While there are certain countries that are facing the problem of population explosion others are sparsely populated. This is not just the case with the human population it also holds good for animals and other organisms. At certain places you will see greater number of animals while at some places you will hardly find any.

Things that Impact Population Density

The density of population in any area is calculated by dividing the total number of people by the area they are living in. The density of population differs in different places owing to several reasons. Some of the factors that influence the density of population in an area are as follows:

Places with extremely hot or cold climates are sparsely populated. On the other hand, those that enjoy moderate climate are densely populated.

The areas with good availability of resources such as oil, wood, coal, etc are densely populated while those that lack these basic resources are sparsely populated.

  • Political Environment

Countries that enjoy a stable government and a healthy political environment are densely populated. These countries attract immigrants from other countries there by populating the area. On the other hand, countries with poor or unstable government see many people leaving at the availability of any good opportunity elsewhere.

  • Standard of Living

First world countries such as U.S.A. attract a lot of immigrants as they offer much better packages and a good standard of living to people. People from different parts of the world immigrate to such countries. This is the reason why the density of population in such countries is increasing.

Even though certain places around the globe have low density of population, the overall population of the country has increased over the last few decades and is likely to increase manifolds in the times to come.

Population Essay 3 (400 words)

Population implies to the total number of organisms inhabiting in a particular place. Growth of human population has become a cause of concern in many parts of the world, mainly in the poor countries. On the other hand, there are places where the rate of population is very low.

Increasing Population – A Major Problem in India

India is faced with the problem of growing population. Around 17% of the world’s population resides in India making it one of the most populous countries in the world. As is the case with almost every developing country, there are several reasons that contribute to the increase in population in India. One of the main reasons for the growth of population in India is illiteracy. People from the uneducated and poor class are seen bearing greater number of children. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, more children for them mean more number of hands to work and earn money for the family. Secondly, most of them are not aware about the birth control methods. Early marriage also results in greater number of children. The growth in population may also be attributed to low death rate. Treatments and cures for various illnesses have been developed and thus the death rate has gone down.

Steps Taken for Population Control in India

The government of India has taken certain steps to control the Indian population. Some of these are as follows:

  • Minimum Marriageable Age

The government has set the minimum marriageable age for men as 21 years and for women as 18 years. However, there is no stringent check on the same. People in the rural and backward areas of the country still marry their children at an early age. The government must increase the minimum age of marriage and also keep a stringent check on the same.

  • Free Education

The government of India has also made free education available for the children of the country by way of its Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act. Eradicating illiteracy is another way to control population.

  • Promoting Adoption

The government of India is also promoting the adoption of children. There are several people who abandon their children at birth owing to various reasons. Adopting children rather than having one’s own is also a good way to control population.

Growing population is a serious concern in India. While the government has taken certain steps to control the same these are not effective enough. There are many other measures that need to be taken to curb this issue.

Population Essay 4 (500 words)

Population commonly refers to the total number of people living in a particular region. However, the word population does not only mean the human population but also the wildlife population and the overall population of animals and other living organisms who have the ability to reproduce. Ironically while the human population is increasing at a rapid pace, the population of animals is going down.

How Science and Technology has Led to Human Population Explosion?

There are several factors that have led to population explosion in various parts of the world over the last few decades. One of the leading factors is the progress in the field of science and technology. While earlier there was a balance between the birth rate and the death rate of human beings, the advancement in medical science has created an imbalance in the same. Medicines and advanced medical equipments have been developed to cure several diseases. With the help of these, the death rate among human beings has been brought down and this has led to population explosion.

Besides, technological growth has given way to industrialization. While earlier most people were involved in agricultural activities and earned their livelihood via the same, many have now turned towards jobs in different factories. The population of the regions where these industries are set up is thus becoming denser by the day.

Impact of Human Population Growth on Wildlife Population

While the human population is on the verge of explosion, the wildlife population is decreasing over the time. The population of several species of birds and animals has gone down drastically owing to factors for which the human beings alone can be held responsible. Some of these are discussed below in detail:

  • Deforestation

The wildlife animals reside in forests. Deforestation means destroying their habitat. Nevertheless, the human beings are ruthlessly cutting and destroying the forests to fulfil their own needs. Several species of animals have decreased and several others have gone extinct due to the degradation or loss of their habitat.

  • Growing Pollution

The growing air, water and land pollution is another major reason why several animals are dying at an early age. Many species of animals are not being able to cope up with the growing pollution. They incur certain diseases due to it and face fatal consequences.

  • Changes in the Climate

The climate in various parts of the world has changed drastically. Many areas that earlier received moderate rainfall now witness flood like conditions. Similarly, the areas that remained mildly hot during the summer season now experience extremely hot weather. While the human beings are equipped to adapt to such situations, animals cannot withstand the same.

Man has always thought about his well-being and comfort overlooking the impact it has on the plants, animals and the overall environment around him. If human beings continue to behave this way earth would no longer remain fit for the survival of the human beings. It is time we must recognise the importance of controlling the human population as well as the practices that are ruining our planet.

Population Essay 5 (600 words)

Population is the term used to denote the total number of people living in an area. It does not only refer to the human beings but also to other forms of living organisms that have the ability to reproduce and multiply. The population in many parts of earth is increasing. While the governments of different countries are trying to curb the issue by various means, a lot still needs to be done in order to control it.

Why is it Necessary to Control Population?

The growing rate of population is a cause of several problems. The developing countries are struggling hard to reach up to the level of the developed countries and the rapid growth in the population in these countries is one of the main hindrances in this direction. The problem of unemployment is on all time high only because of the growing population. There are numerous people seeking jobs but the vacancies are limited. Unemployment causes poverty which is another problem. It also creates dissatisfaction among the people and gives rise to crime. Those who do not get their desired jobs often adopt unsolicited means to earn money.

It is also to be understood that the resources are limited but due to the increasing number of people the demand is growing higher. Forests are being cut and huge office and residential buildings are being made in their place. Why? It is all being done to accommodate the growing population. Natural resources are being depleted at a rapid pace because of greater number of people using them. This is causing an imbalance in the environment. More and more natural resources are being used to meet the demands of the people. This does not only cause degradation of the environment but also increases the cost of living. Controlling the population has thus become the need of the hour. It is necessary for establishing balance and harmony in the environment. It will also ensure better standard of living for people.

Possible Steps to Control Human Population

Here are a few possible steps to control the human population:

People from the poor and uneducated classes are mostly the ones who do not plan family. They treat women as a child bearing machine and have children one after the other. It is essential to educate people. The government must take steps to make education necessary for all.

  • Family Planning

It is essential for the government to sensitize people about the importance of family planning. This should be done repeatedly by means of radio, television, internet and other forms of communication.

  • Monetary Benefits

The government should exempt the taxes or provide other monetary benefits to the families who have single child. Since people today are money driven, this will be an effective step towards controlling population. The governments of quite a few countries have already implemented such policies.

  • Fine or Penalty

Just as the government can provide monetary benefits to those who do proper family planning, it should also put a fine on the ones who do not. A penalty should be levied on the families with more than two children.

  • Strict Monitoring

The government must not only implement the aforementioned points but also keep a stark check on the same and ensure that these are followed.

People must understand the importance of controlling the population. It would not only give them a clean and green environment and a better standard of living but will also help in the overall development of their country. The government must also take this matter seriously and put proper rules and policies in place to ensure population control. Both the public and the government require working together to control this problem.

Population Explosion Essay

Introduction

A country’s population is seen as an asset. However, it becomes a burden when it grows uncontrolled. This is true of the globe. Rapid population increase has become a global issue, and Pakistan is no different. At the moment of its establishment, Pakistan inherited a slew of long-standing issues. Problems like illiteracy, poverty, unemployment, corruption, criminality, political instability, and poor infrastructure were unwelcome presents to Pakistan. Overpopulation has fueled the flames even further. There are several causes for this, the most of which seems to stem from our social and cultural conventions. They are all having a negative impact on our society. Some of the significant consequences are a lack of food and housing, city overpopulation, poor investment, and so on. Let us first analyze the global problem of overcrowding and then look at the reasons and consequences for Pakistan.

Scenario of world

Overpopulation has gripped the entire globe. It has surpassed the six-billion-dollar milestone. After terrorism, the population increase is the world’s most pressing issue now. Every day, we hear the phrase “Population Bomb” over and over again.

Population explosion in Pakistan

Pakistan had a population of 33 million people at the time of partition. Our country has now surpassed the 170 million mark. Pakistan’s population is now expanding at a pace of 1.57 per cent each year. If Pakistan’s present growth rate is maintained, the country would soon be number one in terms of population.

Causes of population explosion

Following are the major causes of overpopulation that have adverse effects:

Overpopulation is primarily caused by illiteracy. Those who lack knowledge are oblivious to the need to limit population expansion. They are unable to comprehend the negative consequences of overpopulation. Lack of family planning is frequent among the world’s illiterate population. There is a tendency of big families in Pakistan’s rural areas, and owing to a lack of awareness and adequate education, individuals continue to produce more and more children.

  • High birth rate and low death rate

On the one hand, science saves people’s lives, but on the other hand, it has a detrimental impact on population increase. In Pakistan, the death rate is low while the birth rate is high which causes overpopulation.

  • Early marriages

The rapid expansion in population can be attributed to our society’s practice of early marriages. Moreover half of Pakistan’s population lives in rural regions. People in rural regions have a conservative mindset owing to ignorance. For their children, they want marriages at a young age. They do so to keep them from engaging in unethical behavior. Kid marriage has an impact not only on the couple’s health but also on the child to whom they give birth.

The polygamy tendency is also to blame for this issue. In our rural communities, polygamy is the most frequent. People in rural regions want to have more than one wife at a time. This propensity of people aggravates the country’s population predicament. Similarly, inappropriate contraceptive technique use has had a harmful impact.

  • The Desire of a Male Child

The preference for male children over female infants has exacerbated the problem in undeveloped countries. Again, religious enthusiasm instilled in the hearts of the uneducated class by pseudo-orthodoxy has very negative impacts on the ever-increasing population.

  • Lack of Leisure Activities

Only a small percentage of Pakistanis engage in outdoor activities like dining out, local and international travel for pleasure and employment, and so on. The majority of people are unable to participate in any of these activities. This is mostly due to a lack of funds and opportunities. Therefore, the absence of leisure activities drives people to stay with their life partner. The man conducts his function like a drone.

  • State Population Planning Policies Failing

The inability of the government’s Population Planning Policies to be properly implemented is the primary cause of population rise. Many policies have been developed up to this point. However, none of them has yielded the expected outcomes. In Pakistan, population planning implementation faces several problems. In Pakistan, cultural and religious organizations regard family planning as a heinous crime. This is the fundamental reason why many parts of Pakistan still lack family planning centers. Misconceptions, rumors, and misleading propaganda concerning family planning techniques are other significant causes.

The consequences of overpopulation

The environment suffers disproportionately as a result of population increase. Population expansion and expansion, resource usage and depletion, and environmental deterioration must all be addressed together and on a global scale. Some of these impacts are defined below:

  • Less economic growth:

The country’s economic progress has been impeded by overpopulation. The high population is to blame for the reduction in per capita income. People’s purchasing power suffers as a result of this. As the demand for goods falls due to the “Demand and Supply” rule, investment in the country suffers. A stagnating economy will result in the closure of companies and enterprises, resulting in joblessness and poverty.

  • Unemployment and less investment:

Even if the government is successful in luring foreign investment, overpopulation will have a negative impact on the country’s economy. A growing population implies a greater number of hungry individuals to feed. This is the “Dependency ratio” problem, which is severely felt in our country.

  • Poor social services:

Even after serious attempts by successive governments, the country’s social services have struggled for years. More schools, hospitals, and parks will be of little consolation if the population continues to grow at an alarming rate.

  • Social evils:

Overpopulation has exacerbated a variety of societal ills such as anarchy, crime, and corruption. The struggle for resources has divided society into two camps: those who have everything and others who are fighting for their own life.

  • Toxic pollution:

City overcrowding has also led to harmful pollution. A higher number of automobiles on the road means that significant amounts of a hazardous gas are available for humans to inhale. Population growth can also be blamed for sewage issues and a shortage of safe drinking water.

Pakistan is currently at a crossroads. What is required at this time is vision and true leadership capable of turning aspirations into reality. The population problem has begun to stalk us, and unless we address it pragmatically, our hope of a bright and magnificent future will remain a devout fantasy. Overpopulation necessitates a multi-pronged assault. Our first objective should be to build a strong Pakistan. If we have to make some difficult decisions to achieve our goals, no one should be afraid to take the initiative and pull the trigger. Indeed, Pakistan takes precedence above our interests.
