Retirement Speech for Teacher

Tips for Giving a Great Farewell / Retirement Speech for a Teacher

posted on March 1, 2021

So, you’ve been asked to give a farewell or retirement speech for a teacher leaving your school? Perhaps it’s a beloved colleague and you want to make sure you send them off with exactly the right memory and ending to an amazing career. Or, maybe you’re a new principal nervous about getting this right in front of your staff. Either way, these tips will help you give a great farewell to a deserving educator.

We are entering the time of year where educators announce their retirement or accept a new gig for the coming year. I too, am making a change and stepping into optional retirement for now. This has me thinking about the end-of-year ritual of farewell speeches.

As a school principal, I’ve given dozens of these farewells. I’ve heard many more. While I’m no expert, I think I’ve got a good handle on what does, and doesn’t work. Keep these things in mind and you’ll create a moment to remember.

Table of contents

1. take it seriously, 2. it’s not about you, consider the honoree, ask kids / former students, comments from colleagues, work history, 4. emphasize contribution, 5. use quotes and poems sparingly, 6. close with thanks and retirement wishes.

Note – I did not say make it serious. It’s okay to use humor if appropriate! What isn’t okay is taking a final moment of someone’s time at a school lightly and winging it with a sloppy send-off.

You don’t need to stress (relaxed is good!) but this is worth spending a bit of time on in advance. If you’d dedicated years (and sometimes decades!) to a career or school, how would you want the person giving your farewell to treat it?

Oh, and while I mentioned a teacher in the open – don’t forget that every educator deserves the same respect and treatment. Don’t be the principal who goes on and on about a teacher, but virtually ignores the paraeducator who has given their career to supporting the school. Each one matters.

If you’re an administrator, public speaking is an important part of your role. You know I believe that takes effective preparation (if not, just check out how I prepared with over 200 principal interview questions ). Take the time to do this well and it will pay off in credibility and connection with your staff.

Treat this opportunity as an honor, not a burden.

Remember, the point here isn’t for you to be the star. Don’t spend time talking about yourself. Don’t center yourself in any remarks or stories you may share. I’ve seen too many of these where the audience is treated to a long story about the speaker that ties in loosely at the end with the honoree.

Remember, it’s their moment. Make sure your farewell remarks reflect that.

3. Personalize It

You’ll probably find a number of pre-written teacher retirement speeches online. I’m intentionally not doing that here. Canned speeches are obvious and usually awkward. I even attended a retirement event once where the same basic speech, with the same quotes, was used more than once! Don’t do that.

Since this tip is so important, and personalization makes the speech, I’m going to offer specific tips for how to create a simple, but personal, speech:

This one links to the “it’s not about you” above. You, as a speaker, may have certain strengths. You may use humor brilliantly, tell stories that make people cry, or love performing.

Those are all great and may be ideal in some cases. But make sure you are considering the personality of the educator who is leaving. This is their moment, not yours.

Introverts may not want to be the center of attention and having them get up in a performance may create a horrible memory. A serious teacher may not appreciate being the object of jokes or parody. Some may feel that cheesy kid story demeans their professional contribution.

Or…all of those things might be exactly what they want! The point here is that you consider their personality in how you approach the farewell speech.

Do Some Research

The best, and most well-received, speeches I’ve seen include a little research woven into the speech. Even better, this takes most of the work off your plate. In fact, if you’re an introvert nervous about public speaking this is my #1 tip because it lets you use the words of others.

It doesn’t have to take a lot of time. Usually it can be done with a short email or conversation and a simple question.

Here are three types of “research” in their order of effectiveness:

If you have access to any students the educator worked with, their comments are always crowd pleasers. You’ll get touching stories, humorous comments, and memorable pictures.

A simple question like, “What do you remember most about Mr./Ms. XYZ?” will get you amazing results.

If former students aren’t accessible, colleagues make a great source of materials too. Ask them for their most memorable moment, or what they think their colleagues biggest contribution to the school was.

Speech written!

Finally, if you don’t have time (or the ability) to talk to colleagues or former students, you can often find some great speech material by looking back on the educators career.

I’ve seen some administrators look in personnel files or old hiring documents to dig out timelines and previous positions. I don’t advise this.

Instead, I like to sit down with the educator who is leaving and have a conversation about their career path. Giving them this time is another form of respect and what you learn will often be surprising.

For this, I just open with something like, “I can’t believe you’re moving on and I wanted to learn a little more about the path that led you here.”

Stories, jokes, and appreciation is great – but people want to feel like they’ve had an impact. Make sure your remarks include a healthy dose of how they impacted the school they’re leaving.

Trust me – they’ll feel that and remember it down the road more than anything else you say.

Generic quotes/poems pulled from google are overdone.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using a favorite poem or meaningful quote in your farewell remarks. Just make sure it’s actually personal to the honoree. Talk about how it fits them perfectly, exemplifies something they’ve done, or why it made you think of them.

You’d be surprised how many times I’ve seen a solid speech sputter out at the end, or close in an awkward way that lessens the impact. Be prepared and keep it simple by doing two things:

Thank them for their contribution to the school. (again – emphasize contribution!)

Wish them the best on their future steps. Even if you desperately wish they were staying or think they are making a mistake by leaving, it is important that they know you support them in the future.

A simple example:

“In closing, it’s been an amazing 15 years working with Educator XYZ. They have dramatically changed the way our team impacts student learning. You have made a positive difference in an entire generation of kids. I will miss working with you every day, but know you’ll do great things in your next job. Cheers!”

Tips for giving a great retirement speech for a teacher!

Being asked to give a farewell speech can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! It’s a great honor and you will help create a meaningful moment in an educator’s life by keeping the following in mind:

  • Take it seriously
  • Remember – it’s not about you
  • Consider the honoree’s needs
  • Do some research
  • Emphasize contribution
  • Use quotes / poems sparingly and meaningfully
  • Close with thanks and best wishes

Now, go give a great teachers retirement speech!

There are many times in our lives when we have to say goodbye to the people we care about. We may retire or switch jobs. We may move away or graduate. We may even die. If you’re leaving a place or situation, you may be asked to give a farewell speech.

Jump ahead to these sections:

Step 1: determine your audience, step 2: figure out what you want to say, step 3: make an outline, step 4: be personal, step 5: don’t speak for too long, step 6: practice makes perfect, sample farewell speeches.

This can be nerve-wracking for people who aren’t experienced in writing speeches or speaking in public. You may be tempted to just read a farewell poem and call it a day. But even a novice writer can craft an inspiring farewell speech.

Here, we’ll break down how to write one step-by-step and also provide examples of farewell speeches from several different occasions.

Giving a farewell speech determine your audience image

Knowing who you’re speaking to will determine the tone of your speech. If you’re giving a retirement speech or saying goodbye to a co-worker, you’ll want to be slightly more formal. It’s definitely not the right place to engage in risqué humor.

If you’re a valedictorian speaking to your classmates, strive for an uplifting and inspirational tone. If you’re eulogizing yourself at a living funeral, you can be more irreverent than you might be eulogizing someone else. Give thought to the appropriate tone for the occasion and go on from there.

Even professional writers and public speakers can’t just whip up a speech in one draft. Before you start writing, take some time to jot down some ideas.

Are there particular stories you want to share about your time with the people you’re speaking to? Make a note of them. Are there specific anecdotes about coworkers or friends you want to revisit? Write those down, too. Once you’ve narrowed down what you want to say, you’ll find it a lot easier to begin writing.

Once you’ve figured out what you want to say, it’s time to write up an outline. A speech should include the following components:

  • Introduction: This will set the tone for the rest of your speech. A good introduction will grab people’s attention and keep it on you. A good introduction will include a greeting to the audience. It may also contain an icebreaker like a joke to loosen up the crowd. Finally, it will let people know the purpose of the speech.
  • Body: This is the meat of your speech. In the body, you can delve into the stories and anecdotes you wrote down in your brainstorming session. You will likely be talking about a few different events, so make sure to include transitions between events.
  • Conclusion: Finally, you’ll need to wrap up your speech. Most conclusions will summarize things you’ve already covered. For a farewell speech, you may want to end on a poignant note, even if the rest of your speech has been fairly lighthearted. This lends it emotional resonance.

Giving a farewell speech be personal image

You may want to make your speech feel perfect and polished. The problem with that is that a perfectly polished speech can end up feeling a little generic.

It’s important to infuse your speech with personal and specific stories. This will help your audience feel more connected to what you’re saying.

Once you’ve completed your speech, it’s time to edit it down. People may start to tune you out if you go on for too long. Even if your introduction is attention-grabbing, it won’t keep people engaged indefinitely. Five minutes is an appropriate length for more casual speeches. For a more formal farewell speech, you could speak for up to ten minutes. This might apply to a valedictorian speech at graduation or a retirement dinner for an important company figure.

Ultimately, you need to use your best judgment. Read your speech out loud, being sure to speak slowly and clearly enough to be understood. Factor in pauses for laughter during humorous moments. If your speech is too long, then go through and trim out any unnecessary parts. This will ensure your speech is as strong and memorable as possible.

You may think that once your speech is written, you’re all done. But there’s still one more important step. You need to be comfortable delivering your speech. This means practicing it as many times as it takes.

A lot of people will rush through speeches if they feel nervous or uncomfortable in front of a crowd. Practicing it at the correct speed will help ensure you don’t speak too fast on the actual day of a farewell event. It’s almost like muscle memory. As you practice, you can even note spots where you need to breathe or take a sip of water. Being prepared for little things like that can make you feel more confident.

Practicing can also help you memorize your speech. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to go up without cards or notes. Even the most well-prepared person can have a forgetful moment. Without notes, you may panic and go completely blank.

Keep your speech in front of you so you’re able to quickly pick up where you left off. Just don’t rely on your notes too heavily, either. You want to connect with the audience by making eye contact. Practicing and preparing can help you strike the right balance.

Sample farewell speech for retirement image

Now that we’ve broken down the steps that go into writing a farewell speech, we’ll share some examples. You can see how to say goodbye to coworkers through a touching retirement speech. You can see how people say goodbye when graduating or moving away.

You can even see how someone eulogizes themselves at a living funeral . Read on for excerpts from all of these kinds of farewell speeches:

Example for saying goodbye at work or retirement

“Over the past twenty years, I’ve seen this company grow from five people to over five hundred. But even though the office has changed significantly over the years, some things remain the same. We are truly like a family here. We’re just a much larger family than we used to be.

But just because I’m retiring, it doesn’t mean I don’t still care about every one of you. A family doesn’t stop being a family just because someone moves away. Anytime you need to talk, I’m just a phone call away.”

Example for saying farewell at the end of someone’s life

“I’ve attended an unfortunately large number of funerals in the past several years. This is the first time I’ve ever attended my own, though.

I decided to have a living funeral after burying so many of my other friends who also had terminal illnesses. I thought it was a real shame that they didn’t get to hear their friends and family members celebrate them. Perhaps selfishly, I want to hear all of you talk about how awesome I am.

But more than that, I wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate you, too. If you’re here, it’s because I can never fully express how much your support has meant to me while I’ve battled this illness. You’ve all helped me in so many ways. You’ve driven me to treatments. You’ve organized meal trains to feed my family. You’ve cleaned my house. You’ve taken care of my kids. You’ve told me jokes and let me vent. You’ve laughed with me and cried with me. You’ve been there for me in so many ways.

As you all know, we’ve hit a point where treatment isn’t doing anything to help anymore. I’ve gone ahead and discontinued it because it’s making me feel terrible and not actually doing anything. I’d rather go out peacefully and say goodbye on my own terms. And what better way to do that than throw myself a funeral party? So everyone please enjoy some food and music. And don’t forget to come over and tell me how great I am, because I do want to hear it.”

Example for students or teachers

“Over the past four years, our class has been through a lot together. We’ve had ups and downs, but no matter what, we’ve always come through it closer than ever. Maybe it’s because we’re such a small school. While we might not all be the closest of friends, we don’t have the same cliques you might find at other schools. That might also be because many of us have been in school together since kindergarten. In a lot of ways, we’ve always been like a team.

Now that we’re all going off to college, many of us will be on our own for the first time. It’s bound to be an enormous challenge for some. But I have faith in every single one of us. We’re graduating from a highly-competitive college prep school. Everything we’ve been through has prepared us for this.

We may be small fish going into a big pond. But we’re some of the smartest and toughest small fish you’re going to find. And ultimately, even if we end up scattered across the country, I know I’ll always be able to count on you. And I hope you know you can always reach out to me, too.”

Example for someone who’s moving away

“Moving away from friends isn’t exactly new for me. With a wife in the military, I end up having to pack up every few years to move. I know you all know what that experience is like. But this is definitely the hardest time I’ve ever had packing up to go.

Y ou don’t always encounter a lot of other civilian husbands living on base. It’s been incredible having a built-in support system with other dads and husbands who understand what this life is like. I’m really going to miss having our families all get together for cookouts on the weekends.”

Writing an Inspiring and Memorable Farewell Speech: Tips, Tricks, and Examples

When you’re leaving people behind, it’s hard to know how to say goodbye . You may worry that you won’t be able to properly express what the people in your life have meant to you.

Just follow the steps above and remember to speak from your heart. At the end of the day, that’s what will have the most impact.

And if you're interested in unique ways to continue someone's legacy after their passing, you can consider a custom urn from a store like Foreverence  or even have a memorial diamond made from ashes with a company like  Eterneva .

Funny Farewell Note to Boss

#1 Since you are leaving us, does it mean that I’m in charge now? That’s okay, you don’t have to answer right now. It can be a surprise. Seriously though, I do wish you the best in your future job, and I wish that you find employees as good as me.

#2 Hey, don’t forget to close the door when you leave. It’s freezing outside. Just kidding! I hope you really go to a warm new place and are comfortable with a fantastic new group of employees. They’re lucky! Also, I will never forget the raise that you are about to give me before you leave. (Right?)

#3 I am sorry to see you go, boss! I will always remember you as a hero, especially when you’d come to work with that Batman T-Shirt. Hold on, maybe that was just a dream I had. Anyway, may you have enormous success and happiness in all you do. And may you always have a job for me, in case I get fired.

#4 The least stressful days were the days when you were my boss. It’s hard to see you go because now I can’t be late to work anymore. Anyway, I do hope that you always stay true to yourself, no matter where you are and what you do. Lots of success!

#5 One day, you will have time to reflect on what you left behind. Probably you’ll see an office in a big mess, but what I’m trying to say is that you will miss us. Of course, not more than we’ll miss you, boss. Good luck and enjoy your retirement!

#6 Sometimes, I wonder: will you ever find another employee as good as me? Or will I ever have a boss better than you? I’m not so sure about the first one. Jokes aside, I wish you all the best, and may you be fortunate and prosper in all that you do!

#7 As far as I know, you weren’t all that bad. There were some good things about you. For example, your parking spot is the best in the whole company. Now, all joking aside, I don’t want to sound like a suck-up, but I will miss you, boss! Thank you for everything. (And now I can finally park in the best spot.)

#8 All these years of working for you, and I still can’t remember your last name. This is probably because you are so friendly we only call you by your first name. Let’s take a moment and celebrate what you gave us: freedom and a raise (which will be coming today before you leave for the last time). I wish you the best, boss!

#9 Resigning might be good for you, but it literally broke me. Working for you was one of the best things that were happening in my life. This, and winning the lottery, but the first one is way better. Farewell, boss! I hope we keep in touch and maybe have a drink sometime in the future.

#10 Remember when you covered for me because I was late that one time? On that day, I met the girl that later became my wife and the mother of our children. Nothing would have happened if you weren’t that generous. Okay, that’s not quite true, but thank you for everything anyway. I definitely will miss you!

#11 It looks like now you’re going to spend the money you have worked for all your life. Somehow this is a farewell from me, but it’s a welcome from your freedom. Enjoy your retirement. I really wish you the best. You were the best boss I ever had. Okay, you were the only boss I ever had.

#12 There will come a time in my life when I will share with my kids some of the wise words that you told me while I was your employee. For example, “I need this by tomorrow morning!” Joking aside, I will miss having you around. I hope your next adventure is all that you are hoping it will be. Best of luck!

#13 Before you leave, I have a request: Can I take your swivel chair? Mine has only 3 working wheels out of 6. I basically fall every time I turn around. Well, I understand that this isn’t your problem anymore. Anyway, I truly and deeply wish you lots of success in your new job.

#14 My first impression of you was that you were going to be very harsh on us. It turned out you were harsh on yourself by being patient with employees like me. I will never forget that, boss. You gave me a new life by offering me the chance to work for you. And all you got from me is this message. So here’s a hug to wish you the best in all your future endeavors (or maybe just a handshake)!

#15 I’m not saying that you were the best boss. I’m just saying that there isn’t any boss better than you. I will never forget when you opened the door for me and said, “Get out!” Just joking! You actually said, “Come in.” You made me feel at home, and I’ll never forget that. Good luck and best wishes on all your future endeavors!

#16 Everyone is sorry to see you go. We got used to you and your friendly tone of voice when you were asking for us to put in extra time on the weekends. Just kidding! I really wish you the best in this next chapter of your life. There’s no other boss like you. P.S. Please don’t leave this note lying around because I don’t want my new boss to read this.

#17 Working for you was an honor. I don’t remember ever having so much fun at work until I started working for you. Also, I don’t remember ever being paid so little. Kidding! I did have as much fun before working for you. Joking again! Seriously now, I truly believe that I don’t know how I’m going to handle being in the office without you. But I wish you the absolute best for your future and hope our paths cross again.

#18 The best part of having you as a boss was that we agreed on everything, except for my salary. But let’s leave that behind now. Honestly, I will miss you around the office. Wish you good luck and much success in your new job!

#19 My professional life has totally changed since I came to work for you. I learned so much from you, including how to make customers think you are working hard when you’re actually doing something else. Just kidding. Well, anyway, I’ve become a pro at that. May your new venture bring you happiness and success!

#20 Hey, boss! You got mail: the last mail you’ll get in your office from me. The news that you quit was shocking, but the time working for you was tremendous! I will always remember when you said to me, “No, you’re not fired.” That was music to my ears. Good luck wherever you’ll go and don’t forget about me, as I won’t forget about you!

#21 If you didn’t like the coffee, there are easier ways to make a change than leaving us. But seriously, I am sorry to see you go and please consider hiring me in your new business at double my existing salary. Okay, what I meant to say is that you will be missed, and please keep in touch!

#22 Now that you are out the door, can you go ahead and give me a raise before you go? Well, even if you can’t, I am still going to be thankful for the time I worked for you. You have been a great boss, and I hope that your success continues for many years to come.

Good morning respected headmaster, vice-principal, peers, families and friends, pupils, and my dear outgoing 12th class students.

I am thrilled and delighted to provide this farewell speech. Today is the 1st of July, which is a day of pride, especially for the graduating pupils and their parents.

We are all here to bid farewell to our students who are leaving this college after the fruitful accomplishment of their 12th year in the school. I welcome you all to this lively ceremony.

My dear 12th class pupils, despite some demanding tasks, grief, and sadness that you have faced in action of your lessons in the college, at the end of it all, you finished this part of the voyage with significant accomplishments and beautiful memories.

Being challenging with you does not imply that we dislike your set, but to prepare you for a more substantial test ahead, and to cultivate you to build a solid foundation for your next stage.

Under our advice, you have achieved this remarkable achievement in your life with great respect and honour.

Today, I am thrilled to say; we are gratified of your many accomplishments over the years, your various achievements in almost all core curriculum and extra program activities.

Your great results in educational discourse and sports competitions are indeed recognised. Your sweet remembrances will always remain in our spirits.

My fellow associates and I wish to thank you for the incredible passion you have displayed towards your studies, in your association with the teachers, management, the junior students, and even among yourselves.

In the chronicle of this beautiful college, we have observed and documented cases of school intimidation, aggression, and many unpleasant activities. It had originated because of the unrighteous actions of some of our students.

Today, I am very excited and happy to say that during your set, the school neither witnessed nor documented any such instances.

Honestly, you have showed to us you all came from a decent home and well educated. Therefore, you have left behind a very generous legacy for the apprentice and in-coming students to follow.

My beloved students, as you leave this college, anticipate that some challenges await you. Thereby, I firmly believe going by your qualifications and the way you have handled yourselves over the years and the abilities and knowledge we have taught you, you will surely conquer them.

I want to implore my dear gregarious students always to see yourselves as great representatives of this college and never allow venal interest to damage the integrity you have developed over the ages of this beautiful college.

Be courteous and decent to folks you encounter on your path up. Allow the expressions of God to steer you as you journey to prominence. Think big ideas and be hopeful in whatever you are doing.

On behalf of the school, I offer you farewell and wish you the best of luck in your days in the future. May God bless you all!

Beginning of sample farewell speech.

I am leaving here today with a wealth of knowledge I will always treasure. Working here has been a fantastic learning experience, and I am thankful for the skills I've acquired. I feel as if being here with you all each day has made me a more complete and well-rounded person.

I've learned how to take direction, criticism, and compliments. These are three things I wasn't so great at taking before, and now I feel as though I can apply that in many different situations.

I've also learned to be open-minded, to value other people's opinions and to consider other ideas along with mine, to end up with a great final result.

Body of Farewell Speech reflection on teamwork

Being part of a team has taught me skills that I can use in more than just the professional area of my life. My relationships on a personal level are in a better place than they were, thanks to some of the things I've learned from many of you.

I've come to realize that being a part of a community is more than just sharing credit. A team effort takes compromise. When you are on a team you have to at times lead, follow, and more often than not, meet in the middle.

Realizing that my marriage is also a team effort is what is prompting this bittersweet change for me.

When my spouse received the opportunity to relocate, it was up to me to compromise and agree to move our family across the country for her to fulfill her dreams. If I could stay here forever, I would, but this is an opportunity for her that can't be passed up. As her partner and teammate, it would be selfish of me to ask her to turn it down.

My wish for everyone here is that you all continue to experience success, to feel fulfilled in all you do, and to have nothing but pleasant results with each completed project! While that may be an overly optimistic wish, it is sincere.

It's been a pleasure working here, and I will genuinely miss it. I take with me fond memories, valuable skills, and I hope to one day leave an impression on others similar to the one you have left on me.

Ending of a Farewell Speech

Farewell Speeches - Not Changed Much in 500 Years

Following is a lightly revised version of the farewell speech of Queen Elizabeth I of England 1 delivered on November 30, 1601. The Queen spoke to 141 members of the House of Commons.

Notice the structure moves from appreciation , to discussion of oneself and reflection , to a solemn remembrance . Farewell speeches have not changed much in 500 years!

Appreciation

Mr. Speaker,

We have heard your declaration and perceived your care of our estate. I do assure you no prince loves his subjects better, or whose love can countervail our love. There is no jewel, be it of never so rich a price, which I set before this jewel: I mean your love. For I do esteem it more than any treasure or riches; for that, we know how to prize, but love and thanks I count invaluable. And, though God hath raised me high, yet this I count the glory of my Crown, that I have reigned with your loves.

Queen Elizabeth I of England - Year 1601

Your appreciation makes me that I do not so much rejoice that God hath made me a Queen, as a Queen over so thankful a people. Therefore, I wish nothing more than to content the subject and that is a duty which I owe. Neither do I desire to live longer days than I may see your prosperity and that is my only desire. And, as I am the person God has delivered you, I trust by the mighty power of God that I shall be his instrument to preserve you from every peril, dishonor, shame, tyranny, and oppression. God will preserve you partly using your intended help which we accept because it manifests the largeness of your love and loyalty to your sovereign.

The body of the Queen's farewell speech discusses her reign and reflects on the most important events and lessons.

Of myself, I must say this: I never was any greedy, scraping grasper, nor a strait fast-holding Prince, nor yet a waster. I never set my heart on any worldly goods. What you bestow on me, I will not hoard, but receive it to give you again. Therefore render unto them I beseech you, Mr. Speaker, such thanks as you imagine my heart yieldeth, but my tongue cannot express. Mr. Speaker, I would wish you and the rest to stand up for I shall otherwise trouble you with a long speech. Mr. Speaker, you give me thanks, but I have greater cause to give you thanks, than you to me. I charge you to thank them of the Lower House from me. For had I not received knowledge from you, I might have fallen into error, only for lack of accurate information.

Since I was Queen, I never put my pen to any grant, but that upon pretext and semblance made unto me that the ordinance was both good and beneficial to the subject in general. My ancient servants deserved profit and wellness at my hands. If found to the contrary by experience, I am exceedingly beholden to such persons and moved by them. And I am not so simple to suppose but that there be some of the Lower House whom these grievances never touched. I think they spake out of zeal to their countries and not out of spleen or malevolent affection as being parties grieved. That my grants should cause grief to my people or oppression, our kingly dignity shall not suffer it. Yes, when I heard it, I could give no rest unto my thoughts until I had reformed it. Shall they, think you, escape unpunished that have oppressed you, disrespected their duty, or disregarded our honor? No, I assure you, Mr. Speaker, were it not more for conscience' sake than for any glory or increase of love that I desire, these errors, troubles, vexations, and oppressions done by these rascals and lewd persons not worthy of the name of subjects should not escape without fitting punishment. But, I perceive they dealt with me like physicians who, ministering a drug, make it more acceptable by giving it an excellent aromatic savor, or when they give pills do gild them all over.

I have ever worked to set the Last Judgement Day before mine eyes and so to rule as I shall be judged to answer before a higher judge. If I abused kingly bounties or my grants hurt my people contrary to my will and meaning, I hope God will not blame myself for the offenses. If an authority under me perverted what I have committed to them, I also pray God will not lay their actions in my charge. The title of a King is excellent. However, the glory of royal authority has not dazzled my eyes. We know and remember that we are to yield an account of our actions before the great judge. To be a king and wear a crown is a thing more glorious to them that see it than it is pleasant to them that bear it. For myself, I was never so much enticed with the distinguished name of a King or royal authority of a Queen as delighted that God made me his instrument to maintain his truth and glory and to defend his kingdom as I said from peril, dishonor, tyranny, and oppression. A Queen will never sit in my seat with more zeal to my country, care to my subjects, and concern for your good and safety. I desire to live or reign no longer than my life and reign shall be for your welfare. Though you had, and may have, princes more mighty and wise sitting in this seat, you never had nor shall have, any that will be more careful and loving.

Request for Remembrance

For I, oh Lord, what am I, whom practices and perils past should not fear? Or what can I do? That I should speak for any glory, God forbid. And I pray to you Mr. Comptroller, Mr. Secretary, and you of my Council, that before these gentlemen go into their countries, you bring them all to kiss my hand.

Farewell speeches are an opportunity to bring your time with a company to a close in a polite and friendly way. Typically, they’re short speeches you can make on your last day or if your coworkers throw you a going-away party. They don’t need to be long monologues; you just need to express your gratitude for your time with the company and let people know where you’re heading.

Keep in mind that farewell speeches don’t have to happen every time someone leaves a job or switches offices. Farewell speeches are usually reserved for people who have had a significant impact on a company, worked somewhere for a long time, or are retiring . Not everyone has to give a special speech, so if you feel like you haven’t been at a company long enough or don’t have a high enough position to make a speech, you definitely don’t need to.

Farewell speeches are pretty low pressure, and you can just speak from the heart, so they’re not the trickiest professional speech you’ll ever have to give. But, it still doesn’t hurt to be prepared and have an idea of what you want to say before your opportunity arises. Here are the steps you should take when you want to prepare your farewell speech ahead of time:

Start with an outline. Even though goodbye speeches are just a few minutes long, it doesn’t hurt to have a general idea of what you want to say before you start forming your thoughts.

Beef up your ideas. After you have an outline, you can start filling it in with anything you want to share. Be sure to make everything flow, which the outline can help with since you already know what you want your next point to be.

Let people know where you’re going. Before you wrap up your speech, make sure you take a moment to tell your coworkers what your next step is . Whether you’re retiring, moving to a new company, or having a career change, people want to know what you’re up to and how they can stay in touch with you.

Create a strong conclusion. When you’re writing the end of your speech, make sure it follows the tone you’ve created throughout the rest of the speech. If you went for a more serious tone, you should make sure you keep the ending serious, and the same goes for if you went for a humorous tone.

Edit your speech. Before you read your speech for your coworkers, you should read it aloud for yourself to make sure everything feels right. You can even have a friend read it over for you, but just make sure you give it a read over before giving your speech.

Here are a few examples of farewell speeches you can give to your coworkers before you leave your job. We’ll give you some samples of different reasons you might be departing a company.

If You’re Retiring

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to celebrate my last day with ABC Company. After 20 years here, I can’t believe I won’t be seeing that hideous fake plant and all of your lovely faces every morning. I’m immensely grateful to everyone in this room, especially my HR team. We’ve done some amazing work during my time here, from implementing our database years ago to supporting our colleagues throughout some rocky patches at ABC. I’ll miss everyone on the HR team, especially our weekly Friday gossip lunches. I also want to give a huge thanks to Linda, our head of HR. Linda’s been with me almost since my start, and I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today without her kindness and support. Thanks for everything, Linda. I’m sad to say goodbye to all of you, but I’ll be stopping in from time to time. It’s been an incredible journey with you all, but now it’s time for me to kick back and finally watch that new show you’ve all been telling me about! Thanks again, everyone!

If You’re Leaving For Another Company

Thank you all for coming. I really appreciate you taking some time out of your days to send me off like this. I’ve loved my time here because of all the wonderful people I’ve met, so you’re making it really hard for me to leave. I just want to say a little thank you to my team, who has been by my side since I started at Smith Consulting. Without the leadership and mentorship of Brenda, I don’t know how I would’ve ever moved up to Senior Consultant . Of course, I have to thank my fellow team members Oliver, Sarah, and John, for keeping me motivated and laughing during our late-night brainstorms, countless airport trips, and meetings with tough clients. I also want to give a quick shoutout to Jamie, who will be taking over for me. Jamie is amazing, and I’ve really enjoyed working with her and watching her grow over the last month. I know she’ll do a great job and be a real asset to the team after I’m gone. I’ve enjoyed every second I’ve been with Smith Consulting, and I’m sad to leave. I’ll be moving to Chicago with my husband to be closer to our families, but I sincerely hope everyone will stay in touch. Hopefully, I’ll make it back out here soon, and we’ll have a chance to work together again. Thank you again to everyone, and I’ll miss all of you!

No matter how formal or informal your farewell speech is, you can follow these tips to make sure you deliver one that’s memorable:

Practice before the big day. Just like anything else, practicing your speech a few times before you give it is a good way to make sure it flows. It can also help you make sure you sound natural and relaxed when you give your speech.

Greet your listeners. To make your speech more lighthearted, you should acknowledge your audience before launching into your speech. Take a second to greet everyone and incorporate them into your speech.

Make it personal. At the end of the day, the speech is about you and your colleagues, so don’t be afraid to make it personal. Your audience will find it more entertaining if you make your speech specific and personal than if you just keep things generic and vague.

Stay positive. While you might be departing with your company for negative reasons, don’t bring anything up in your farewell speech.

Use anecdotes. One way to make your speech memorable and engaging is to use stories from your time in the office. Think of running jokes you have with your coworkers or talk about the great prank you pulled on your boss one year.

Thank your coworkers. While this is a speech about your time at the company, you should take time to thank your coworkers for their support and creating a fun work environment .

Keep it natural. There’s no need to force yourself to do a formal farewell speech if that’s not your personality. Do something that feels natural to you and represents who you are in relation to your audience. You can keep it light and humorous if that fits you, or go for something more serious; just keep it natural.

Use a relaxed tone. Since farewell speeches aren’t overly formal, you want to make sure you’re using a relaxed tone when you address your audience.

Be brief. Your colleagues want to hear from you, but they don’t want a ten-minute walk down memory lane, especially when they’re waiting to eat or need to get to a meeting.

Sometimes you’ll be asked to give a farewell speech for a colleague that is leaving. In this case, you’ll follow many of the same principles that we listed for a farewell speech that you’d give when you’re the one leaving.

Instead of talking about your time with the group as a whole, however, you’ll talk about the individual who is leaving.

Share some of their positive qualities and accomplishments, a few memories or uplifting experiences you had with the person, and how the person has impacted your career or the workplace as a whole.

Close by thanking them for their hard work and wishing them well as they move on to other endeavors.

How do I give a farewell speech for leaving a company?

You give a farewell speech for leaving a company by briefly mentioning a few positive memories of your time working there, expressing your sadness at your departure, and thanking your coworkers.

This speech should be more about your colleagues than about you, so make sure you keep your speech to the point and focused on topics everyone can appreciate.

General memories that most people have in common or your gratitude toward different people or groups in the organization are both great points to include in your speech.

How should I start my farewell speech?

You should start your farewell speech by thanking everyone for being there. Chances are you’re giving your speech at an event of some kind, and even if it’s just a gathering in the conference room to eat cake, you need to thank everyone for taking the time to attend.

From there, you can move into sharing what you’ve appreciated or positive things you’ve learned from your time at the company, thanking your coworkers, and sharing where you’re going next.

What are some good farewell sayings?

Some good farewell sayings are, “It’s been an incredible journey,” “I hope you will keep in touch,” and “I wish you the best.” These sayings all express your appreciation for your coworkers and your desire to continue those relationships.

It’s important to include phrases like these in your speech to show that while you may be excited about what you’re moving to next, you are still sad to be leaving this job and community behind.

How do I say goodbye to my colleagues?

Same ways to say goodbye include:

“I’m going to miss you. Wishing you luck in your new role and your future. We’ll talk soon.”

“It was a blast working with you. We will miss having you around. Goodbye, dear friend.”

“leaving this place and everyone will be difficult, thank you, everybody. Goodbye.”

“Although I am thrilled about my new position, I’m sad to leave the company. Everyone, goodbye.”

Farewell Letter to a Teacher from the Principal

A farewell letter to the teacher from principal is a formal or semi-formal message sent by the school principal to a teacher who is leaving, thanking them for their service and wishing them the best in their future. The letter is typically sent when the said teacher transfers out of school either through resignation or retirement and is sent at least a few days before the teacher has to leave.

Working closely with someone over a long period can create a bond you wouldn’t want to lose even in a professional setting. As a school principal, it is easy to get close to your teachers as you share in their day-to-day lives, which can make saying goodbye difficult.

Are you a school principal scrambling for the right words to say goodbye to a teacher? This post highlights some writing tips and examples to help you draft a professional and meaningful farewell letter.

Pointers for a Farewell Letter from the Principal

As an authority figure, it is easy to get bogged down by all the things you should or shouldn’t say to your subordinates. Keep in mind that your farewell letter to teacher from principal will likely be the last correspondence between you and the teacher. You want to sound supportive about their future and saddened by the loss, without losing the respect you have garnered over the years,

Writing Tips

Consider the following writing tips to keep you on course:

  • If you are unsure of the tone to use, try to imagine how you would wish the teacher a happy birthday or successful retirement. You want to sound pleasant, polite, and semi-formal.
  • Keep your letter to the point, as it is, after all, not a performance report.
  • Be genuine and precise in your praise. How did the teacher improve student relations in the school? Which of her projects made the most impact?
  • If the teacher is joining another school, be supportive and keep any resentment you may have for the competition out of your letter.

Drafting Your Farewell Message

The typical farewell letter should thank the teacher for their time at the school and give them a proper sendoff. To achieve that, you must do the following:

  • Mention the teacher’s resignation or retirement details
  • Express your feelings about this in a simple and dignified manner.’
  • Thank the teacher for their service and cooperation
  • Wish them well in their future ventures
  • Offer to maintain your professional relationship and include your contact information.

I feel highly honoured to stand before you on this memorable occasion and I welcome everyone to the 2020/2021 Award- Giving Ceremony of the year. Words are not enough to express our gratitude to God Almighty for making us witness this long awaited day. In spite of all the economic and social issues in our nation recently, the Lord has provided, protected and preserved each and every one of us. For this, we give Him all the glory.

I will never forget the day we were all enrolled into this prestigious institution, 9th of September, 2015. We all came from different parts of the world, from different families, with different mindsets and world views to be trained and prepared for a successful future. The preparation process was not easy at all; instead it was painful and strenuous. Sometimes, we felt like we were being maltreated, but now we know that we were only being prepared to be valuable and relevant in the future. Many of us left at some point in this journey for one reason or the other. Some were financially incapacitated, while others were expelled for truancy. All in all, we are grateful to be among the graduating today.

To my colleagues, the graduating class, we are encouraged and advised to keep the flag flying high. As ambassadors of LOGISS, we should shine brightly and never allow the winds of life to put our lights out. We must be the true definition of academic excellence and godliness of the youth wherever we find ourselves, not forgetting any of the virtues we have acquired here. According to John Rohn, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments” therefore, as we depart from LOGISS, we must endeavor to prioritize our day to day activities and take quick actions toward the realization of our noble goals and dreams. Never give up on your dreams because dreams do come through. Above all, never forget God because He is the Ultimate Guide who alone holds the map of your life.

To the school management, we really want to say a big thank you for all the years of nurturing. Thank you for not sparing the rod when we were wrong. Indeed we are blessed to have leaders like you. We appreciate the efforts of our amiable teachers and pray that their labour will not go unrewarded in this world and in eternity. We will also live to remember our mummy, the Principal of this esteemed citadel of learning, for her relentless efforts to see that the vision and mission of this school is achieved in our lives. We are really grateful ma, God bless you.

To our fellow students, we are leaving you here for the best, so we admonish you to stand firm and completely abide by the wisely prepared code of conduct of LOGISS because they are important for your general wellbeing and success in future. We advise you to “Buy the truth and sell it not “(Proverbs 23:23). Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” therefore, be persistent! Never give up on your goals. Push aside procrastination because it is the opportunity assassin, the thief of time. If you do these things, you will succeed. We will dearly miss you all. Farewell.

To the honourable man of God, the pioneer of this distinguished school, Pastor Aloysius Chukwuemeka Ohanebo, we say thank you for all your efforts and prayers which have lifted Logos International Secondary School to a place of prominence above others. May the Lord Almighty continue to replenish you and your family and grant you all your heart desires. Finally, we would love to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has made our stay here in LOGISS a success, our pastors and teachers. May the good Lord bless you and perfect all that concerns you.

The day of farewell is special for the teachers, senior students, and junior students. Juniors are those who arrange the farewell party for the seniors. They wish the seniors the best of luck for their upcoming challenges and also take their suggestions as seniors were at the same place where juniors are today.

The farewell party is the time to speak something on behalf of the class to the seniors to wish them well. You may get an opportunity to speak on this day on behalf of your class. Many students get nervous about the name of speech but in reality its an easy task. To deliver an effective speech all you need to do is to remain confident and have eye contact with the audience in the hall. Farewell Speech For Juniors

A very good evening to the respected teachers, seniors and my dear friends. As we all know that, today we are gathered here to give farewell to our seniors and it’s my pleasure that I am here to say thanks and wish to the seniors on behalf of my class. Having brilliant seniors is always a motivating factor and we are lucky that we have you as our seniors.

I would like to congratulate all the seniors for their nice journey in this school. They must have some good and ordinary memories of this school but as s junior, I also have some memories of them and it is from the fresher’s party. We all juniors think that your seniors have set a high benchmark of excellence and to reach that point we need to work hard.  You guys were like a guardian in the schools for us and we know that if we would need your help you would be always ready for it.

Now when you are going to college to pursue your dream career we all are happy. But somewhere we have the pressure to be as good as you were. To be there for the juniors as you were for us.

A farewell is a celebration to celebrate your success and wish the seniors well but today I want you to wish us well and to be as great as you all. As students, you all made the school proud and now it’s our responsibility to carry forward the legacy. We learned many important things from our seniors including the art of making healthy interactions with everyone in the school.  We will make sure to have a healthy relationship with the juniors and to follow the instructions of teachers.

At last to conclude this speech I want to say to our seniors that our wishes are always with you all. We wish you well for your successful future.

Farewell speech for College Student

Hello hello!!!! Mike testing 1, 2, 3, 4 everyone can hear me ok so let’s get started

Good evening dean sir, our professors and all those who are here with me for the last four years.

I am happy that I got the chance to stand in front of you and remind you of our good and bad memories which we lived in our college which are now going to be the souvenirs for all of us.

It seems like yesterday when we joined our college. There is something in this college because we all acclimatize with the ambiance of this college very quickly.

Earlier we thought that college life is so boring and we are going to miss our school days for sure, yeah we still miss our school days though, but this college never makes us feeling short of our school. We make new friends here who are awesome in all ways.

I would like to thank all the professors for not only teaching us but also the moral values which they inculcate in us which is more necessary in today’s world.

They taught us how to celebrate your defeat because it will remind you to do better next time and they also inculcate the never loose and never give up mentality.

College life is the most important phase of your life and if you didn’t get the right path then it will ruin the whole life.

Our professor always inspired us and challenged us throughout the 4 years and we also never let them down in any way. We really worked hard for this day.

They made us tough and gentle to face the real world we are going to face.

From the bottom of my heart and from the behalf of my all the batch mates I would like to thank all professors for made us responsible person.

Friends the day you all are waiting for has arrived today. Today we all are going to graduate from our college and I can see so many faces that are happy, knowing that from tomorrow onwards they do not have to attend any lectures, no project work, no practical anything but…

They are also feeling said when they thought about, that they are going to miss all the wickedness, lecture bunk, unnecessary gossip, times we laughed, cried, screamed in joy, eating food without paying the bill in the canteen and all that.

From tomorrow our all memories will be kept forever on the walls of the college. We don’t want to part from each other but it’s the part of life we have to move on, now everyone will cherish these memories throughout their life.

It is the day when you have a mixed feeling, at one time you will feel elated and at the same time, you feel dejected. All these feelings will vanish as time passes.

Before stepping down I would like to thank you once again to all professors and friends to be a part of a wonderful journey wish you all the luck for your future and I promise you to be in touch with you forever. Now let’s celebrate this day because it will not be going to come again.

Farewell Speech For Students (By Senior)

Sometimes the departure of a few people becomes a reason for celebration rather than their arrival and farewell is the same time. When a teacher or the juniors say goodbye to the seniors then it’s the time of celebration for all. When school staff and the juniors bid goodbye to the pass out seniors it becomes a celebration. A farewell is a time to wish good luck to the seniors and seniors motivates juniors to work harder whereas teachers feel proud of their students.

This is the time when all teachers, juniors or seniors all three of them speak of their mind. As a parting gift, farewell speech for teachers by students is the best. This is the time when students can give a speech to thank their teachers. We understand that penning down a speech is a difficult task so here we have given a farewell speech for students ideally for seniors are leaving the school. You can get inspiration from this and compile a speech for you.

Goodbye speech For Students (By Senior)

Good evening to the respected Principal sir, teachers, my juniors and my dear classmates. It’s a pleasure for me to speak here at this farewell party on behalf of my class. I would like to thank my classmates and friends to give me this opportunity.

Today as our farewell party is going on and it is going to be the last day of us in this school, we are overwhelmed with your love and respect. It’s like a journey to get admission to this school as a young kid who doesn’t know how to even hold a pencil and leaving it when my height is almost equal to my teachers. From here we all will go to see a bigger world in the form of college but it is the hard work of the teachers that made us capable enough to step out of this school. On behalf of my class, I would like to say that we all will never forget all the supports and care given by our teachers.

Unlike college in school, we are to be in discipline and the etiquette and discipline we learned here have given us a strong foundation. It seems like I just joined the school and its too early for me to leave this secure and familiar place. I am scared that how will I face the world outside of this school premises. But somewhere I am confident that I will make you proud and this confidence I got from your teachings and blessings.

This school was like our second home where we learned to differentiate between right and wrong. I will make sure that I will make my teachers and school proud. To my juniors, I would like to say that follow what your teachers say. Teachers may scold you sometimes but it’s for your betterment only. And to my batch mates, I would like to say that guys we will keep in touch. We have spent a very good time here and thanks for all those memories.

Thank you all

Farewell Speech for Students by Principal

Respected Teachers and my dear students,

Students, we all welcome you to this auspicious moment. This moment is very special for you as well as for us (principal, school staff). Every year we have students who pass out from our institute. For me, it has a mixed feeling of joy, happiness and on the other side, it gives sorrow and pain. A feeling of joy that all my students will achieve success, and sorrow for the thing that from today onwards we won’t meet in the classroom. Although, you are invited to every function in the institute. I with my faculty staff will always be there to support you. If you feel any help of mine, please do visit me.

I remember the day when you took admission to the school. You were not so bold enough to represent yourself. After your parents, we were the only ones who supported you, made you walk on your feet confidently, made you realize about the world through imparting knowledge. Sometimes we scolded you for your mistakes but trust me all we did was for the sake of your future. We have trust in our students and the knowledge we have provided you that you will never fail in your life.

You have just completed the first phase of life and there are more to come. Now, you have to take the major decision of your life and you cannot depend on anyone for that. All my students have a very good character and I never want you to diminish your good behavior.

I request you to remember the much-used proverb, which has been told you by your faculties that is “If health is gone nothing is gone, if wealth is gone something is gone, but if the character is gone everything is gone. You will face many situations in your coming life and the principles, which are inculcated in you, will help you to get rid of you

The name and reputation we have earned for this institute are all because of you. The progress of the school equally depends upon the faculties and the students. I am thankful to all of the students for their support and for maintaining the dignity of the school. An institute is a structure whose pillars are students and the faculties.

I won’t conclude it by saying that work hard for your examination, our faculties have already told you the strategy to study. However, I must say that your goal should be achieving good marks and parallel work on self-development. Inculcate good habits, Eat healthy food and stay focussed. I thank you again for being a part of this huge family.

Good luck with your future endeavors.

Farewell Speech For Students By Teachers

A farewell is an occasion when juniors, seniors, and teachers gathered at one place and share their thoughts and experiences. Farewell party is one of the rarest occasions when people celebrate the see-off to others else generally saying goodbye to someone is not a happy moment.

Farewell, the party is a celebration time as the seniors leave the school to appear in further studies and bigger college. They will get more chance to grow and make their career. For juniors, it’s a time of celebration as their seniors are leaving with a legacy behind. And for teachers, its celebration time as their students have grown enough to come out from the boundaries and the discipline of the school and to move to a bigger world.

On farewell celebration students and teachers speak of their mind which generally known as farewell speech. When you write a farewell speech you may have many thoughts in mind but to pen down them is not easy. So here we have compiled a sample farewell speech for students by teachers. The speech given here has been written keeping the Introduction, Briefing and wrapping up part in mind so this one going to be a perfect speech to bid goodbye on the farewell party.

Goodbye speech By Teachers

Good morning respected principal, dear colleagues, and friends, and my dear outgoing 12th class students. Finally, the day has arrived when we all are gathered here to wish farewell to the students of the most senior class of our school. Time really flies like anything. For me, it’s just a few days back when I was appointed as your class teacher and today I am honored and pleased to deliver this farewell speech.

Dear students of 12th class, you may have faced many challenges in your academic session so far. For a few, the Maths is the biggest difficulty in life and for others, it may be some other subject. But as you are moving to college now and going to plan your career then as a teacher it’s my responsibility to prepare you mentally about the upcoming challenges.

This school was like a nest of bird to you and now it’s the time to fly to explore the world. Trust me, students, today we are as happy as a bird would be after seeing her baby flying. We have worked hard to teach you how to fly and now when you are moving out, you will have to use that teaching. I am overwhelmed today as under our guidance, you have achieved this impressive milestone of your student life with integrity. Because of your intelligence, you have left behind a very good legacy for the junior to follow.

When you are leaving school, its name will follow you everywhere you will go. I know that you will keep making us proud wherever you will go. We have given you a firm foundation here in schools so now it’s in your hand what kind of building you want to develop on it. With this responsibility on your shoulders, I would like to wish all the best to you for your future. Keep shining and get more success in the future. May God bless you all!

Thank you very much.

Farewell speech for office

A very good evening to all of you, you all must be wondering why you have been invited to today’s party. So let me reveal the surprise for you, as you know I have been a part of this wonderful company for the last 18 years and it’s like my second home. I still remember it was 14th of March 2002 when I associated with the company and it seems like it was yesterday when I joined the company and today I am standing in front of you and delivering my farewell speech…

Yes, you all heard it right I am going to retire from the company today. On the first day of joining, I never thought that one day I will deliver a farewell speech and it’s true but I am retiring from my job but not from my duties.

I am thankful to the company that improves my level of skills. The journey from a contract basis to a permanent employee of the company is so challenging for me. I learned so many things from the company especially from our seniors, they are always supportive and never pressurize me for any work and never gave me the deadline, I don’t know but somehow I understand that what they want from me and in what duration, this is just because of mutual understanding between me and my seniors.

I saw so many ups and downs but I never quit and that’s my motto. I keep on working and always tried to give my best from yesterday.

Today, I would like to thank everyone who is always there to help and support me, even my junior’s colleagues, they are from the new generation and they know various things and I learned so many things from them and I am that kind of person who is so keen to learn new-new things.

Yesterday when someone asked me how much money you are going to receive on your retirement day, I told him that I am going to receive the wealth of knowledge and respect which is more than any treasure. I am thankful to all of you to be a part of this journey and make my journey easier.

Being a part of this company is an honor to me it gives me so much respect among my family and friends circle.

I will tell you the two important things which I learned here, are time management and instant decision making and both these qualities are going to help me in the future. Because earlier I am not that great in both the department but slowly-slowly my seniors inculcate these qualities in me.

In my term, I got so many offers from other companies but I don’t want to part with from the company because this company made me eligible to stand tall in the market and because of this I got the opportunity from other company and…

When everyone is getting a pink slip in recession time then, this company stays strong with me, then how could I leave such company? And always refuse such offers.

All the moments which I lived with this company and all of my colleagues are will be there with me for time-immemorial. We have given our day and night to this company and I can expect the same from the young guns of my team and they will carry on as we are doing and even more of it.

Someone asks me what will you do after retirement and I always keep my answer ready for such a question from the last few years, I didn’t spend quality time with my family so for the next few months I am going to do that and after that, I will join my friends business.

Once again thank you so much to all of you it’s been a wonderful experience working with you guys and thanks for coming to the party and all the very best for your future!

Farewell Speech For Teachers

Farewell in school is the time when the students and the teachers both have a mixed feeling. The students are sad as they are to leave their school but excited for college or new schools. The same applies to the teachers, on one hand, they are sad as their students to whom they have taught for years are moving forward and on another hand, they are happy that the students are going to study in further classes.

Schools and students both organizes a party to farewell to the students. Generally, this party or get-together is organized by the juniors but teachers are equally involved in this as they also want their students to leave their existing school with good memories. On the farewell party, the teachers also speak something to motivate and the students for the upcoming challenges. Here we have compiled a farewell speech for teacher. If you are a teacher then read the speech compiled below to get inspiration from it. We hope this will help you on the farewell day.

Goodbye speech For Teachers

Good morning to respected, principal, vice-principal, dear colleagues, families, and friends, lovely students and students of 12th standard who are going to join different schools after a few days.

I am honored to give this farewell speech. Today I am speaking with a mixed feeling in my heart. Today is the day of happiness as students have grown up and now they are moving forward for further education but I am sad too as soon these familiar faces of students will move in front of my eyes. As you all know we are here to give a farewell to all our students, who are leaving school after the successful completion of their 12th in the college.

It’s a pleasure for me to welcome all of you to this colorful ceremony. Today I am overwhelmed to see you guys grown up enough to go out from this school to explore the new world. I congratulate to all the students of 12th class as their journey in this school is going to be over soon. Despite all the challenges you have faced in past years related to tour studies, other activities and competitions you shine like a star. As your teacher, I know you will make your new college proud too as you made us proud.

Today we have your juniors also with us in this hall. They have made all the arrangements for your farewell party. Nothing can be greater than this when your junior follows your footstep and our school is witnessing this proud moment.

Dear students, being a teacher is not an easy job. We need to be harsh and strict to you in order to make you capable enough to handle the upcoming challenges. Now when you will join a college it will be a test of our education as well. At last, I would like to wish the best of luck to all the students for their future. I hope you guys will make your new teachers proud too as you did to us.

Farewell Speech for School

Good Evening Principal sir/mam, vice-principal sir/mam, teachers, our beloved juniors and my dear colleagues. Today we gathered here to celebrate our farewell party and our juniors giving us bid farewell. Our juniors are so sincere they respect each of their teacher and seniors very well and guys you have done awesome arrangement for a farewell party and you definitely deserve applaud for it.

Today, I am standing in front of you on behalf of my class to deliver the last speech of my school life; right now our classmates are feeling nostalgic because we all are going to part from today. It is our last day of school and after that we all will jump into the well of competition, to get the best college to make our future bright.

I would like to thank all our teachers for their selfless dedication, just because of you we all are standing here and going to join our college life soon. You made us so strong so that we can face any kind of situation.

Our teachers play an important role in our life; they showed us the right path, especially mine because earlier I am just a below-average student and always in the chart of bad behavior students…

But my teacher knows the hidden caliber in me and they know, if they took me to the right direction then no one is going to stop me and seriously they worked really hard on me and because of it, I am the prefect of my class for the last five years and in the top three ranked students of our class from last five years.

The kind of support we get from our teacher in our lows and highs is commendable; they not only teach us but also prepared us how to face the world we are going to now face on.

I would also like to thanks the principal, vice-principal and chairman sir; just because of you, we got a fantastic environment for study and always ready supportive teachers. You have arranged us whatever we need in a short span of time.

You are always ready to help any students anytime and this shows your dedication towards the schools and students, thank you so much for that sir.

I would like to thanks all my dear colleagues, you guys are so supportive and as you all know…

Maximum of us are in the school since our first class and we spent twelve years of our school life together and we all are like a second family to each other.

I will miss all the moments we live in the classroom, campus, canteen, and especially on the roads.

The way we crack a joke, doing interesting things, playing games, doing silly mistakes, a competition that who is going to reach the school gate first, eating other lunch boxes especially in the periods and never endings talks and…

Even sometimes we fight with each other but we can’t live more than one day without talking to each other but moreover of it, we always ready to help each other when anyone is in need.

I am sure from tomorrow onwards whenever we recall our school days then there will be a dull smile in our face.

Friends you remember that day when we are in junior class and we heard about farewell party first time ever…

And how we all are excited that we are going to have a party this year but when we get to know this is only for senior students who are in their final years then we all feel so said and…

We all keep on waiting for this day and we are so excited, that we will get the farewell party but when we get to know, that the day of farewell party is going to be the last day of our school life then we are praying from god that we do not want this day to come in our life…

And as the day comes closer and closer our heart starts pumping faster. But someday it has to come and here it is.

The entire moments of our school life is a souvenir for all of us and we are going to cherish it for our entire life.

The more I will talk about the past it makes me feel nostalgic, so I will wrap up my speech and once again…

I would like to thank all the teachers, other staff members and the watchmen uncle from the bottom of my heart.

Let’s celebrate this day because it’s never going to come again in my life again.

Farewell speech for kids

Respected, Principal sir, teachers, and all my dear friends. My name is Taashi and I am the students of class 4. Today is the last day of our class at this school. From tomorrow onwards we are going to join the senior secondary school branch of our school. My class teacher gave me the responsibility to give a speech on our farewell day. This is the first time when I am giving a speech so pardon me if I have done any mistake.

I would like to thank on behalf of my class to the teachers who teach us with their new ideas and because of them, we learn daily new things. Vikas sir we never forget the single table thanks to you for teaching us in a new way. My parents are so happy that I am a part of this school and the way I perform and this happens just because of our teachers.

We will miss our teachers who never give up and tolerate our all silly mistakes. Especially our class teacher Nalini mam, she is so nice and she never forgets to celebrate our birthday in class and she always played with us in our free time. She is one of the best teachers in our school every student from our class loved her a lot. Mam, we will miss you.

The moments we shared in this school are unforgettable for each student, we will definitely going to miss the last corner of my class where we all students play games.

I would like to thank our sports and cultural teacher also, they gave us chance to join their team and we won a trophy for our class last year just in a cultural activity it was because of them. Most of the students of our class are now always ready to take part in cultural activity and sir you will be happy to know that we are going to give audition for kid’s talent hunt which is going to be held next month in Delhi.

I also like to thank our principal sir who is so friendly in nature. It feels homely when we are in school. We never miss our homes when we are in school, but we definitely going to miss our school when we are at home for sure.

At last, I also like to thank our driver uncle who took all of us from home to school and vice versa.

We will definitely rock in our senior secondary school to make all our teachers proud thank you all of you for your guidance and love.

Farewell Speech for Graduating Students from a Student

Hey there everyone,

It’s such an important day for every single person from our batch. It’s been very obvious that we have been enjoying and cherishing every single moment out there in this institution. So, we have been very sentimental regarding our beloved institution, too.

It had never compromised in making us sharp and shine. So farewell speech is a perfect moment to thank our faculty for always remaining by our side.

Through this entire long journey that I’ve spent in this institution, I’d like to thank (Let teacher, 8) for always making me feel that I can get through to everyone I want. That respected person has always made me believe that I can get through every difficult moment in my life, and from such moments when I have been trodden in the dirt or difficulties, I can rise and thrive.

Without all of such lovable and admiring personalities, my journey would not have definitely been possible so far. I wholeheartedly thank every single teacher who helped me rise and let me be who I am.

Farewell Speech

A farewell speech is a speech given by a person leaving a position or place.

It the statements made by the public figures i.e. politicians, teachers, etc about their earlier careers, or by individuals related to their reasons for leaving.

Speech on farewell is more than the words like ‘thank you’, ‘ meet again’, and ‘goodbye’.

Why do you need a  Farewell Speech?

A farewell speech helps you make an impact on the people you worked with and it is also a very good way to say goodbye to your career life.

It gives you a chance to thank all those people who helped you and even apologize for the things you have done.

Farewell Speech for Students:

My best regards to all the students.

Today all of us have gathered here for the farewell ceremony .

This is a day when we remember all the good and bad moments we spent at this place and we try to take the memories of good times with us from here.

After so much hard work, now is the time to say goodbye . I still remember all the moments from the first day to the present day.

It seems like yesterday was the day when I had my first day at this place. All the people were unaware and there would be fear and hesitation in the mind.

Time passed slowly, a special and different relationship was attached to this place. If there is any place after my family where I have spent most of my time, then this is the place, this is my second home.

Today this is my last day, tomorrow we will not be able to meet and I would like to thank all the people who worked so hard to make my day special .

Someone’s life does not stop for anyone, just live with the memories and good moments that I have received a lot from this place, and I am going to take them with me from here and goodbye to you today.

I will never forget these days spent with you all in my life .

Everyone had to be separated one day or the other, I will pray that you are always happy and make a lot of progress in your life and one day you will definitely achieve your goal .

I wish you all a very happy future.

Farewell Speech for Seniors:

Dear Respected Seniors,

This is a special moment for all of us and personally, it matters even more to me, as it is a farewell party for our valued and respected seniors , who were not only my best associates but also were my best friends.

Yes, you guys have shared your experiences of academic life and we are very grateful to all of you, especially me.

Contrary to the belief that what I did about you was completely the opposite. I learned a lot from you, hearty laughter and timely deadlines, pressures and challenges of projects.

You help me, whenever I have a problem, thank you for helping us.

It was truly memorable together in the company of my superiors , while we enjoyed it very much.

Farewell Speech for the Teacher:

Good Afternoon Honorable Principal, all respected teacher and my fellow students.

I feel much honoured while giving this Farewell Speech .

Today we all have come here for the farewell to our respected teacher .

Those who are going to retire today after many years of active service. Today I realized how quickly the time runs-off .

Farewell Speech for Boss:

Good morning to all respected listeners.

Friends, today all of us gathered here in my respected boss  farewell and I am thankful to all of you that you gave me an opportunity to express my thoughts, I hope you guys will like my speech.

Manager Sir is a charismatic person, he has helped me everywhere. First of all, let me tell you what my perception was about them.

He is a tree laden with fruits, who has always learned to bow to others. Many qualities can be learned from him.

I have never seen him come late to office in the last five years, never seen him fighting anyone in the last five years.

I have learned a lot in my life from manager sir & learned to fight with these challenges, I have learned humility from them.

I still remember today, when our team’s target could not be achieved and the manager Sir constantly used to motivate all of us to complete the target.

But today, he is leaving all of us because he is promoted and transferred. This happens many times when you are doing well, you are given a more good post.

So that you can do more good there and take the company to greater heights. Friends Sir has always done a lot for this company.

He is credited for bringing this company to great heights and today he has also got his years of hard work. It is a time of both happiness and sorrow .

Our sir may have to go away from us, but we all have to understand that he has been promoted here.

Even though his departure from here is a sad moment for all of us, but we should be happy for him.

Friends, today he will move to some other office.

When someone as big as his will suddenly leaves this office, it will feel much more vacant, but friends, it is the responsibility of all of us to keep the lessons given by him in our life.

Friends, this time is very difficult, but we all have to face it firmly. Before coming to this office, I had never thought that I would ever be so attached to him.

They have all the qualities that an elder brother has, he has rebuked us all over our mistakes and on the other hand, he has given us encouragemen t in our bad times.

This promotion of him is just beginning, we all have seen his dedication to his work closely and it can be said with the claim that the Sir will reach the sky.

My best wishes are with the Manager Sir. I pray to God to force the successes to kiss your feet. Friends, thank you all for listening to my thoughts.

Even though it is a chance to say goodbye , but it will fill my colleague’s life with joy and open up immense possibilities for the future.

On this occasion, I wholeheartedly congratulate my colleague for a new life and wish him success.

My colleague. I would like to share with you all some moments spent with my colleague in this farewell ceremony.

As we all know that office is the place where we have to face many challenges to prove ourselves and forget all the troubles of our life.

We always have to give our best, because then we are our boss can attract attention and get success.

In such an environment , there is a feeling of competition among all the employees present in the office. But in spite of all this, my colleagues in my office.

I had a good relationship with her and every moment spent with her is very beautiful .

On this occasion, I would like to tell you that along with working in the office pressure, how I can keep myself positive, I learned this from my colleague.

Taking a sip of tea in a tee-break in the office, we not only discussed and concluded deeply on the serious project that has brought our company to the top but also shared the small bustle of the office and the boss.

This is one of the memorable moments I spent with my colleague. How time passed while working together in this company was not known and in my heart, respect and affection grew for you.

However, the time has come for us to get separated and say goodbye to the sweet memories.

It is a matter of pride for me that I got a golden opportunity to work with a colleague like you.

I have full faith in you, in your hard work and in your commitment to work, which will lead you to achieve your goal.

With this, as far as I have noticed, you have all the necessary qualifications as well as professional skills.

The quality that impresses me the most is that you know very well how to manage the toughest tasks in a competitive , challenging environment and how to solve any major problem.

Working with a colleague like you has not only developed a positive feeling in me, but I have also learned to work happily in every kind of environment.

You will miss every moment spent with you. Our best wishes are always with you.

Farewell Speech for Friends:

Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and my dear friends!

My best regards to all the members.

After so much work and hard work, now is the time to say goodbye . I still remember all the moments from the first day to the present day.

It seems like yesterday was the day when I had my first day at this place. All the people were unaware and there would be fear and hesitation in the mind .

Time passed slowly and a special and different relationship was attached to this place. If there is any place after my family where I have spent most of my time, then this is the place.

Everyone had to be separated one day or the other, I will pray that you are always happy and make a lot of progress in your life and one day you will definitely achieve your goal.

I wish you all a happy future.

Types the Farewell Speeches:

Farewell speech is given on various occasions and it has many types, but mainly Farewell speech can have the following types:

1. The farewell speech was given by junior students or senior students in school or college.

2. Speech to be given while leaving the office.

3. The farewell speech was given on retirement.

4. Eulogy speech is also given on the death of a person.

Thus Farewell speeches are given on various occasions . In spite of being different, there is a common thing which is Emotions .

How should be a farewell speech, so that it touches the heart of people, and makes their mind filled with happiness!

Therefore, a Farewell speech should include the following:

Truth and honesty: While giving speech well your feelings and your words should be pure. There should be no consistency in it since both sides work with each other.

They themselves and other people know about their mutual behaviour, so if there is a false statement in the Farewell speech, everyone realizes it and the speech does not leave an impact.

Positivity: Farewell speech should have positive thinking, which results in good results.

We should not take this opportunity to reproach each other about old bitter things, but instead of taking advantage of this opportunity, we should forget the old criticisms and exchange wishes for the time to come.

According to the audience: Depending on where you are going to deliver the Farewell speech, you should prepare your Farewell speech, otherwise, the listeners cannot connect with it and they find it boring.

Ways to deliver a Farewell speech:

If you are going to give a farewell speech, then there can be 3 ways, which you can adapt according to your convenience. These methods are as follows:

Reading your speech: If this farewell is affecting you emotionally, then this is the most appropriate way. Make an outline of what you want to say, read your speech.

Also, while printing it, keep in mind that the size of the words is large and there is enough distance between the two lines, otherwise there may be difficulty in reading.

Use of Sign Cards: If you give your Farewell speech by writing keywords on the card, it will be more effective than just reading the speech.

Numbers should be written on these cards. It also has the advantage that by connecting one point to another, you are able to say your point and further things are also clearly understood and they are successful in getting responses from people as well.

Give speech by memorizing: If you have time to prepare and memorize a Farewell speech, you can adopt this method; with this, you can interact with the peoples easily.

But if you forget something somewhere in the middle, then you also have to come to the art of handling the Farewell Speech well or your Farewell Speech will fail.

By adopting the methods mentioned above, you can make your Farewell memorable.

RELATED SPEECHES:

Conclusion:

When we say goodbye to someone or when someone else separates from us, saying goodbye to them is called Farewell.

Farewell is made up of 2 words: Fare + Well , in this Fare is derived from the Old English word Faran, which means – towards the journey, so we can also assume Farewell means that the person taking off, must have a nice and happy journey.

Usually, while the students are passing from 12th or finishing college, they are given a farewell by the school and their juniors as well. In this farewell meeting the students express their views on school life and how are they going to miss the school and college.

These speeches are supposed to be brief and also very emotional in nature as it deals with memories and lessons from the past.

When you are leaving your school or college or any other institution after completing your studies there you need to deliver a farewell speech to the principal, teachers, and your friends. Here, we have provided some farewell speeches for that purpose to you.

A very good morning one and all.

Respected Principal, Dean, the teaching faculties, and my dear friends, a warm welcome. Today we all have gathered here to wish outgoing students joy and happiness as we are to begin a new chapter in our lives. I’m obliged to have received this opportunity to give this speech and share my experiences on behalf of our department.

It seems like yesterday when we joined this college like reluctant caterpillars when our parents dropped us off at the college hostel. And then time just started to fly so quickly. The four years of our lives just flew away fast.

When we look back at this wonderful journey, we remember the morning bell, lunch hours where the day scholars used to get extra tiffins for the hostellers, those long queues in the cafeteria, the evening walks, nighttime snacks, night-long chats, and many more.

It was fun then but now it’s going to be the memories that we cherish throughout. Also, the industrial visits were no less than the fun trips, the college sports day and cultural events were great fun.

It’s not just memories but also the lessons will have a great impact on our transformation to be an adult and our college without a doubt has made me an independent person and tough enough to face the difficulties that will come over time.

Finally, I would like to conclude by saying wherever we go, we butterflies with their flight would make our college proud, always. Thank you All!

Respected Principal, Dean, the teaching faculties, and my dear friends, a warm welcome. I am pleased to deliver this farewell speech. Today, the 1st of July, is a day of joy, particularly for us, the graduating students, and our parents.

We are all here to bid farewell to our students who are leaving this college after the successful completion of four years in this college. I welcome you all to this beautiful ceremony.

My dear friends, despite some hardships, sadness, and grief that we have encountered in the course of our studies in this college, at the end of it all, we completed this journey with great achievements and the most beautiful memories.

Here, we were prepared for a greater challenge ahead, and to nurture ourselves to build a strong foundation for the next level of hardships. Under the guidance of our beloved teachers, we have attained this impressive milestone in our life with great honor and integrity.

Today, I am honored to say, we are proud of our many achievements over the years, our various accomplishments in almost all academic and extracurricular activities.

Our batch’s brilliant achievements in academic discourse and in sports must indeed be acknowledged. The sweet memories of our college life will forever remain in our hearts.

And my dear friends, I wish to thank you for the zeal that you have shown towards your studies, in your relationship with the teachers, management, the junior students, and even among ourselves.

We believe our teachers will agree to the fact that we are leaving behind a very nice legacy for the junior and in-coming students to follow.

Dear friends, as we leave this college, a whole lot of challenges await us, which of course, I strongly believe going by our achievements and the manner we have conducted ourselves over the years and the skills and knowledge imparted in us here, we will surely overcome them.

At this point, I want to tell this all my dear friends to always see yourselves as good ambassadors of this college and never allow selfish interests to blemish the integrity we have nurtured over the years in this college.

Be kind and good to people we meet on our way up. Allow the words of God to guide us as we journey to greatness.

On behalf of our batch, I bid farewell and wish all your friends the best of luck in your days ahead. May God bless us all!

Thank you all very much.

Good Evening everyone,

Respected Principal, Dean, the teaching faculties, and my dear friends, a warm welcome.

We are leaving today, with a wealth of knowledge that all of us here will always treasure. Working here has been a fantastic experience, and I am thankful for all the skills we’ve acquired here. We feel as if being here each day has made us more complete and well-rounded.

Inside these college walls, we’ve learned how to take direction, criticism, and compliments. These are the three things most of us weren’t so great at taking before, and now I feel as though we can apply that in many different situations.

We have also learned in these last four years, how to be open-minded, to value other people’s opinions, and to consider other ideas along with our own, to end up with a great final outcome.

Personally, being part of a team has taught me skills that I can use in more than just the professional area of life. My relationships on a personal level are in a better place than they were, thanks to some of the things I’ve learned from our lovely teachers.

I have realized that being a part of a community is more than just sharing credit. A team effort takes a huge compromise. When you are on a team, you have to at times lead, follow, and more often than not, meet everyone in the middle.

My wish for everyone here is that we all continue to experience success, to feel fulfilled in everything that we do, and to have nothing but pleasant results with each successfully completed project.

It has been a pleasure studying here, and I will genuinely miss this college and this beautiful campus. I take with me fond memories, everlasting and real friendships valuable skills, and I hope to one day leave an impression on others similar to the one this college has left on me.

Thank you all, and farewell!!

Thank you boos for your all support, friendship, and help. Please forgive us for all mistakes which we have made unknowingly. I wish you a very good luck in the new company. All the best and success for your new projects. I hope you will be in touch with us and guide us time to time accordingly.

Good evening to the respected teachers, fellow schoolmates, and my dear colleagues. Today is our farewell party, the last day of school. I would like to give this speech on behalf of my class.

We joined this institution many years back. However, it feels like it was yesterday, and the departure time had come very soon. We liked our time here because the education environment is strict, cool, and motivational.

Sometimes we were depressed. Sometimes not happy. Sometimes were playful, and others studious. However, our teachers have always tried their best to make us feel good and comfortable throughout.

I, therefore, want to express gratitude towards you, teachers. You are our Gurus and mentors and our second parents. You have always tried to teach us lessons beyond the four walls of the classroom.

Not to forget our junior schoolmates. Your stubbornness taught us how to be responsible. Your nagging taught us how to be compassionate. Your presence in our lives has been such a blessing that words cannot describe it.

I wish I had much time to keep talking and talking. The memories we have made in this school are endless. However, since our time has come and we need to create room for others, we are obliged to depart in body but not in spirit and soul.

Be blessed! We love you all! May the God of all mercies continue to watch over you all.

Long and Short Farewell Speech by Students in School and College on Farewell Party

Farewell speech by students in college – speech 1.

A very Good Afternoon to the respected Principal Sir, Vice President (VP) Sir, respected Teachers, other staff members and dear Students.

As you all are aware that we have assembled today to celebrate a very special event, i.e. our farewell. I am extremely thankful to the management and my dear fellow friends for giving me this opportunity of delivering the farewell speech.

While I am excited and enthusiastic to share that we are certified graduates today, I am also feeling sad that we will be leaving our college now. This place has been like the second home for us where we have spent most of our time. The teachers have been extremely kind and they always supported us throughout our learning phase.

First and foremost, I would like to thank our Principal Sir, who has always portrayed the image of a highly disciplined personality yet so kind and humble. With his charisma and charm he has always influenced us and motivated us to achieve the impossible. Sir, I must acknowledge that we have learnt the most important lesson of life from you, i.e. to be disciplined and self-restrained. Also, the policies you launched in the college have earned great fame and recognition in the world of education. Your ‘no tolerance’ towards ragging was one of the most appreciated steps that earned huge accolades for our college.

Sir, I am very sure that the lessons of life we have learnt from you would help us climb the ladders of success while being humble and modest at the same time.

I would especially like to thank our sports Sir, Mr. A, for his constant support in mending me physically and mentally. When I had joined the college in 2014, I was undergoing some family problems due to which I was not able to concentrate on my studies. But Sir A, with his unvarying support and never ending trust in me, transformed me completely to a practical individual. In fact, all the teachers at this college are highly sensitive towards the students and they go to any extent in helping us.

I would also like to thank our class teacher Ms. B who is very kindhearted and has been sympathetic towards each and every student. She used to give me extra time, support and always helped me with my projects and assignments during my days of anxiety and worry. I am sure she is going to display the same kindness and humility in years to come.

In fact all the teachers and each and every staff and all the students, junior and senior had been very friendly, caring and co operative. The special relation and bonds we shared amongst each other are forever going to remain in our hearts and we will always miss the lovely days spent here. In fact, I don’t want to call it a farewell speech as we will always cherish each and every moment spent here.

On this day of farewell, I would also like to take the opportunity of sharing the mischievous acts we did during our stay at the hostel. Sometimes, we would be late in reaching the hostel; dying with hunger, we would approach the Warden Sir who would scold us first and would treat us with the delicious noodles afterwards.

While we know, we will not be able to live this life again; we are never going to forget the days spent here. In the end, I would like to thank everyone once again and I am promising that we will always display the ethics, skill and proficiency we have learnt here in every future act of ours.

Thank you and all the best to everyone!

Farewell Speech by Students to Teachers – Speech 2

Honorable Principal, Vice Principal Sir, Respected Professors and My Dear Friends – Warm Greetings to all of you!

First of all, I would like to thank you all for gathering here for the celebration of the last day of our school. Most of us joined this school since we were around 3 to 4 years old, which makes approximately 15 to 16 years spent in this school. In these past 16 years we never thought that we will someday approach a day when we would stand like this and bid ‘goodbye’ to our beloved teachers, Principal and VP Sir.

However, we also remember the lesson taught by our dear teachers who always said that this is just a chapter of our life; which gets closed and the new chapter of life begins. Though true, we are not going to forget the lessons we have learnt in the school and the bonding we share with our teachers. The teachers at this school are extremely kind and supportive who have always showed their selfless love, care and attention to each one of us. Now when I am grown up, I imagine, how difficult would it have been for our teachers to teach us to adapt when we were small children. Along with teaching us to adapt, we have also learnt to be good and well-behaved people. We have studied and grown at this school and are standing here today all set to enter the new phase of our life.

“Thank You” is a very small word; the kindness and gesture our Principal Sir, VP and the teachers have shown to us is incomparable and we promise that we will land in the new world with positive approach and attitude. We will forever represent ourselves as the good ambassadors and messengers of this lovely school so that all our teachers can feel proud of us.

While all of us have passed the 12 th examination and are certified today; we have also learnt a lot of different activities such as sports, art & crafts, music and dance and various other skills. This could have been possible because our teachers trusted us and they have done a lot of hard work in transforming us in all-rounder who can encounter any kind of challenge, life throws at them.

While I am sharing the good memories; I can’t resist sharing the mischievous acts we have done in the school. Those temporary fighting and the patch-up, silly jokes cracked on the new joiners, celebration of best friend day, sharing and stealing the lunch box, and a  lot more sill activities, we were indulged in during our school days. All of us are certainly going to miss those all. I now feel, our teachers, the VP sir and above all, the Principal Sir have been so patient and enduring and they never took harsh steps to men our ways. The teachers, especially our class teacher, Ms. Y ma’m had been very strict yet she has been very compassionate. She would scold us at once and the very next moment, she would explain the reason behind her anger and fury.

All thank to our teachers, Principal Sir and the entire staff and their blessings and teachings, because of which we are leaving the school with the practical knowledge and skills needed in the real world. It’s hard to say goodbye to our beloved ones though, we are here with taking along cherished memories which we can treasure forever in our hearts.

Once again, a special thanks to each one of you for guiding me through the right path and teaching me the discipline, humility, good manners along with studies.

Farewell Speech by Students to Principal – Speech 3

Respected Principal Sir, Vice Principal (VP) Sir, Respected Teachers and My Dear Students – Warm Greetings to all of you!

Today is a very special day for all the final year students including me and I thank you all from the core of my heart for making it to the event. While I had been very excited and anxious about this day, I am equally happy and satisfied that all my fellow friends and I have passed our final year exams, and we all are certified Graduates now.

In the midst of all these excitements and enthusiasm, I have been bestowed with this responsibility of delivering the farewell speech today. Before I begin my speech, I would like to Welcome you all to the event today and kindly ignore my mistakes as I am really excited.

I am sure that all the final year students may be feeling in the same manner as I am right now. While on the one hand, we are hugely satisfied and happy that we have passed one of the biggest exams of our life and have become graduates, we are sad on the other hand, since we know that we are not going to see all these faces again at least not of our dear Principal Sir, VP Sir and superb faculty members.

I still remember when I joined this college in July 2015, I was absolutely raw. I had come from a small town and I was highly nervous as I felt I would not be able to make at par to the students of this grand college. Getting admission to this college was one of my most adored dreams like many students across India. I recall my first meeting with our beloved Principal Sir, Mr. X. I cannot express in words, how supportive and compassionate he was then and still he is. I was lacking in various skills such as my vocabulary was not good when I joined this college first; our Principal Sir, in the first meeting sensed my nervousness and he said that I was in this college to learn skills not to display my skills at that time. Ever since, he would guide me and show path towards improving all the skills that could transform me in a capable individual. And imagine today, I am standing in front of you all and delivering speech in English (smile); all thanks to our Principal Sir.

Apart from that off course, our Principal Sir has been highly supportive and he has always motivated the students to participate in sports and all other extracurricular activities such as Quiz, debates, Indoor games, etc. He has also promoted art and craft in our college; in fact he has been the first principal who promoted dance and music in our college.

Sir, I would like to express a heartfelt thanks to you on behalf of the entire college since we have also got our college Idol in music and dancing superstar and all this has been possible due to your constant support and unvarying trust in us. Jokes apart, today our college has earned a great admiration and fame in the entire city and it has become one of the foremost choices of most of the aspiring students to get admission in.

On this special day, while we are feeling nostalgic about the old days spent in the college, we also feel anxiety as the new life is waiting ahead of us. We are nevertheless, forever going to remember the life’s lesson we have learnt from our respected Principal Sir, VP Sir and all the teachers.

In the end, I would like to once again thank everyone including the faculty, administration and my fellow friends for the unwavering support and kindness and I would like to wish good luck to everyone for the future.

Farewell Speech by Students on Farewell Party – Speech 4

So finally here we are!

A very warm Good Evening to the honorable Principal Sir, Vice Principal Sir, respected Teachers and my dear Friends!

Today is our farewell day and I would like to thank you all of you for gathering here and a special thanks to the junior students and the organizers for organizing such a grand party.

I would also like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to deliver the speech today. I am standing here today with a mixture of different feelings and emotions. While we all are highly excited about today’s event, we are equally feeling emotional as this is the officially the last day of our college life.

While our journey to college life comes to an end, we will be entering the new life which will be quite strange and we will not have anyone to hold hands and guide us like we had our Principal, VP Sir and all the teachers.

Throughout our college life, we made lots of mistakes but the faculty had been great supporter who showed trust in us throughout. I made lots of friends here who I am going to maintain close relationship with forever, if god permits. I will also maintain closeness with the Principal Sir, VP Sir and all the teachers here for their guidance since I know, life outside will not be equally kind and whenever I will feel upset, disturbed or confused, I will come here; hope my teachers will not get disturbed (speaker smiles).

I would also like to acknowledge; the seniors during our days in college were very helpful and supported us in assignments and project work. The juniors now are pretty enthusiast and full of vigor. I hope they continue with the same vigor and bring good name and fame to our college.

Their enthusiasm and liveliness can very well be imagined seeing the preparation for today’s farewell party. Therefore, on behalf of the entire college and our batch, I would like to thank the juniors and all those who have helped them in organizing today’s event.

As we are all set to step out from the college to the new world, we would like to show our gratitude to all those who shared their wisdom, skills and experience with us and prepared us for the new world. Our college for us has been like our home because along with knowledge and learning we also got scoldings like kids get from their parents. We know dear teachers and especially the Principal Sir were strict at times as they wanted us to become disciplined and learn good manners which will help us in the new life.

In the end, I would only appeal to all my friends especially from my batch to party hard tonight and enjoy well as we have to make the most out of this day.

Wishing all a very successful life ahead and once again thank you all!

Best of Luck!

Farewell Speech by Students Leaving College – Speech 5

Honorable Chief Guest, Respected Principal Sir, VP Sir, Respected Teachers, Dear Juniors and My Dear Fellow Mates – Warm Greetings to all of you!

First of all, I would like to thank each one of you for gathering here to celebrate our farewell evening. This grand evening has been organized by our juniors who I must say are quite talented and dedicated. I am really surprised and feel honored at the same for the fact that I have been given this opportunity to deliver the speech as well as we have got such grand farewell by them, Thank You!

I am standing here with mixed emotions and I am sure all my fellow students might be feeling the same way. While I am excited about entering the new world, I also have a lot of apprehension as I am not aware what has the future in store for us.

Having said that, I also remember, our class teacher, Ms. D always used to say that we should not think about our future; we should in fact, only be prepared for the future and do well in the present to secure our future. Ma’am, we would always remember this precious lesson of yours.

To my juniors, I would like to say that you all have joined a very prestigious college as it is one of the most renowned colleges in the town and many students only dream of joining this.

Here I have not only acquired a lot of academic and book knowledge, I have also learnt practical lessons of life. One of the best things about our college has been the charity works that students are inspired to do and other acts to preserve the environment such as planting, gardening, ban plastics, etc. are some of the activities, our batch did in the last year.

I must say, through these acts, we learnt such important lessons of life in such fun and pleasurable way.  We also promise, we would always live by the spirit of the precious knowledge we have acquired here and would inspire everyone to follow these basic rules of life. To my juniors, I would like to say ‘participate in each and every activity, the teachers and the school authority plan, as you would not only learn many things practically, you would also become good human beings.

I certainly become one; as I was a short tempered person earlier and ever since I started participating in the charity activities, I became practical and sensible.

In the end, I would like to thank each and every staff at this college, the teachers, Principal and the VP Sir, juniors and fellow students for everyone has been great throughout my days at the college.

I would end my speech with the promise that I would keep in touch with most of you, especially with the teachers through social media.

I would wish all the luck to the students; in the end I would say that always believe in yourself and don’t lose heart even if you fail.

Thank you and all the very best to everyone!

Farewell Speech by Students of Class 10 – Speech 6

Good morning to respected teachers, juniors and my dear batch mates!

I am _________ of class 10 and I am standing here before you for the last time as it is our last day at school today. I speak on behalf of everyone who will be leaving the school and going to another school for senior secondary classes. We all wish that this school should have been a senior secondary school so that we would not have to leave, but moving on is the norm of life.

So, first of all, I would like to thank our brilliant teachers who have taught us all these years and have helped us become better human beings. Whatever we are today, it is the product of their sheer hard work and untiring efforts. They have been with us {and for us} as a mentors and friends. They have not only taught us academics, but have inculcated moral values in us which will remain with us in our life forever and ever. The life lessons learned here will help us deal with our problems in future. It is a fact that our teachers have scolded us, punished us but above everything, they have loved us the most.

We have spent many years in this school and it was the first school for a lot of us. We have some beautiful memories associated to this place. We miss organizing the cultural and sports events in this school. The after-school rehearsals for annual functions were the best as they brought students of different classes together. Going to a new school feels a little sad because we are very attached to this school. Having said this, I wish all the students good luck for the journey that will begin in their new school. I am sure it will be hard but you will adjust to a new environment and this is what our teachers also expect from us. No matter where ever we go in life, this school will remain the favorite most chapters of our lives, because it was the building block of our personality.

Before ending this speech, I would like to thank once again to our teachers for helping us and being our mentors. We have troubled them many times but now we will not be their students anymore, we all will miss them. We will miss our batch mates as we were each other’s first friends and have shared the most carefree days of our lives together. I would want to thank the helping staff of the school as they never failed in finding the uncountable pens and pencils that we lost in classrooms every day. They were humble and helpful. Thank you for giving us this farewell and making our last day memorable. In the end I would just like to say that you all were dearly loved and will be missed. This is the best school for me and I am glad to have studied here. We will come as alumina after today.

Thank you all for this wonderful farewell and memories to cherish for the rest of our lives!

Farewell Speech by Students of Class 12 – Speech 7

Respected Principal Sir, Vice Principal (VP) Sir, Respected Teachers, Dear Students and My Dear Friends – First of all, thank you everyone for gathering here in order to celebrate our farewell day so nicely!

While today is the day of joy and celebration, it is also filled with lot of emotion and sentiments because we will be leaving the school today and enter the new world i.e. college life.

I am sincerely honored for having been given this opportunity to deliver the farewell speech, for I never thought I would stand like this in front of the entire school and would deliver the farewell speech. While I do so, I would like to give the entire credit to my school and would especially like to thank our Class teacher, Ms. A ma’am, who filled me with so much of confidence and self-assurance.

School for me has been the first place which taught me discipline and way of conduct along with, off course giving me top class education. I still remember my first day at this school; I was filled with so much of nervousness and fear as I had joined in between the sessions. Also, I had come from a small town, oblivious and unmindful of the way of city life. I would not talk to many people and would always busy with my drawing. But after joining this school, I started gaining confidence; made new friends and opened up with teachers and staff at the school.

This school is one of the most recognized and famous schools in the city and my parents were very keen to have my admission here and now realize why they were so willing. Along with spending good days at the school and having received appreciation and accolades from the teachers and the Principal Sir at the school, I also remember the days of mischievous and the playful acts we did at the school.

Actually, most of the students in our class were interested in experiments and we would do all sorts of naughty acts in order to clear our doubts and learn new things. I would like to apologize today on behalf of the entire students of my class as we never realized during those days that our act of experiments could have harmed others; for it did once harm me. I burnt my hand in one of the experiments that involved use of fire.

Nonetheless, we are now stepping into the new world, i.e. college life and we promise that we will represent ourselves as good brand ambassador of this school and would always keep the name of our school in high spirits.

In the end, I would like to thank everyone for all the support and kindness they have showed to us throughout our life at the school. We would leave the school with the hope that we can approach any of the teachers, Principal and the VP sir, whenever needed,

Once again thank you everyone for this heart-warming party and I want to wish all the very best to everyone present here!

Farewell Speech by Students Leaving School – Speech 8

Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and my Dear Students – First of all, I would like to thank you everyone for gathering here to celebrate our farewell! I am highly honored for having been given the opportunity of delivering the farewell speech today.

The thought that this is our last day at the school makes me emotional as well as nervous. We have spent some of the best moments at this school and have learnt a lot of things here along with off course acquiring bookish knowledge.

While we are really sad that we will be leaving the school post this day, we are also happy; in fact the entire school is happy that each student of our class has passed with good marks. Our school has good reputation and image in the world of academics and I am glad that we have lived up to that image. While off course, we did a lot of hard work to achieve such grades and marks, our teachers had been very supportive and motivating. They helped each one of us with the projects, assignments and other coursework whenever needed.

I would also like to thank our Principal Sir who always believed in us. He would provide us with extra study material and allow us to stay in the library even after working hours for studying and completing the course.

He is the true example of a disciplined yet kind personality. Along with motivating students for achieving high grades in the exams, he has also promoted various extracurricular activities such as dance, music, sports, painting, art & craft and many. Though our school did conduct sports week every year but because of our Principal Sir, our school could participate at the state and national level too. Thank you Sir, you really taught us that career can be made in other fields too as well as you taught that by making sports an integral part of our life, we can stay fit and agile.

Under the guidance of our respected Principal Sir, our school also made visits to several charity organizations such as orphanage, old-age homes, etc. This has been favorite activity as serving the needy made me feel that I am serving the humanity.

Sir, you may not imagine and I cannot even express in words my gratitude towards you. Learning such acts of humanity at the school level is certainly going to make us good human beings in the future and we promise that we will live by all the lessons we have learnt here.

In the end, I would like to thank everyone for supporting me in all manners, especially the teachers for standing by me in my odd days.  Though, none of us know, where will our life take us, but wherever we go, we will forever preserve in our hearts, the respect for our school and each and every staff of our school.

Thank you everyone and I wish good luck to each one of you for your future!

School Farewell Speech by 12th Class Student

School time is the most cherished time in the life of a person. I am not wrong if I say that children spend almost an equal amount of time at school that they spend with their family at home (sleeping and bathroom time reduced 24- (7+3)=14). This makes a special bonding between the teachers and schoolmates. But, this relationship comes to an end when children pass out of 12th class. That’s why a farewell party is organised for the 12th class students leaving the school. If you are looking for a farewell speech by 12th class students then you can read further.

Farewell Speech by 12th Class Student | Speech in English | School Speech

A very Good Morning to Principal sir, teachers and my friends! So friends, How’s the josh??

I am Raunak Singh a student of class 12th. Today we have gathered here to celebrate our farewell party. Our final exams are due in the next month. After that whole 12th class will leave this institution forever. But we will cherish a lot of things inside our hearts. Our school staff and teachers are a part of a gradual change in us; growing from a sapling to a young plant. They have made us capable of shouldering responsibilities and challenges.

Today, I want to share an incident with you all. In my primary classes, I could not learn spelling properly. But my teacher never scolded me for that. She simply asked me to write the correct spelling of each wrong word ten times (it sounds easy but it is very difficult). Many times I cried while completing that boring correction work. The most irritating part of that homework was that the correct spellings had to be written 10 times. Sometimes, it even haunted me in my sleep.

Now when I look back, I can understand that it was this task that made me win the Spellathon contest and score full marks in the English language. You must be wanting to ask the reason behind sharing this incident here. I disclosed this to you so that you may understand the value of mistakes. My teachers always encouraged me to tackle a situation without worrying about mistakes. “ A mistake can be understood as nothing but an experience gone wrong”.

I wish my classmates find the best career for them in life. Our school has done so much for us. Now, it is our turn to bring laurels to our school and teachers. Last but not the least, one valuable piece of advice to my juniors, enjoy your school life to the fullest. You would not get this chance again in life.

Farewell Poem in English for School

Emotional Farewell Speech in English | Farewell Speech by 12th Class Student for Teachers

Good Morning!

Respected Principal Sir, Vice Principal Ma’am, and honourable guests, teachers and my dear friends.

My name is Aryan Gupta. I am this year’s senior prefect of ABC school. It has been more than a decade now since I came here. I was mesmerized to see how large the school campus was. I came here as an observer and a learner.

Today, I am standing here as a mature and confident boy. I know this is my last opportunity to stand here on this podium in front of all of you. I will leave school after my class 12th.

Over the years, I have seen students always asking what the school has done for us. Sometimes, they are full of complaints and bad words about the institutions and the teachers. But why don’t we think and ask what we have done for the school? You would argue here what you can do for the school, you are paying money, so it is the school’s duty to think for your welfare.

But deep thinking will make you realise that it is a two-way process. You must have heard that it takes two to clap. The school provides opportunities for the students to evolve. It is the children’s responsibility to learn from the available resources.

Do you remember that in our primary classes, it was mandatory for students to carry a hygiene kit daily to school? Some did it as a compulsion while others learnt to groom their personality from that small kit and I am one of them. I learned the value of cleanliness and hygiene from that single strict rule of our school.

There was a time when we could not understand many words. Our teachers made us understand the meaning of the words, they helped us with the right pronunciation. Teachers at ABC school have instilled various qualities in us. Tomorrow, these qualities will help us become great entrepreneurs, leaders, teachers, doctors or engineers.

A school is a student’s second home. We have learnt so much here that even our parents could not teach us. I cannot count on everything that the school has given us. Now, it is our turn to do something for our school.

Today, we are recognised by our school’s name, tomorrow there will be a time when our school will be recognised by our name. That will be a great moment and I am sure my teachers and my fellow students are waiting for that moment to happen. Through this platform, I want to take a golden opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude and thankfulness towards all the guard uncles, aunties, admin staff, teachers and my fellow students.

thank you all

You can share your school farewell speech here. It might help your juniors. Thanks for reading.

“An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s” isn’t precisely the book that presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin set out to write.

Dominating this often fascinating volume is both the colossal presence and the sudden absence of Richard “Dick” Goodwin, Doris’ late husband, whose speechwriting talents defined some of the most memorable moments of the 1960s. The couple’s aim was to co-write a book based on his extraordinary archive — 300 boxes! — of personal papers and curios, from voluminous speech drafts to a shattered police club from the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.

Husband and wife spent years perusing and discussing those treasures, an effort short-circuited by his death in 2018, at 86, of cancer. Amid her grief and a move from their rambling home in Concord, Mass., to a Boston condo, Goodwin took up the project on her own.

Book jacket, "An Unfinished Love Story"

She describes the result as a hybrid of history, biography and memoir. At its most poignant, “An Unfinished Love Story” is, as the title indicates, an account of personal loss. It also turns out to be a reflection on the process of constructing history, suggesting how time, perspective and stories left unwritten can shape our view of the past.

Goodwin, the author of award-winning biographies of Lyndon B. Johnson, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and others, has a nice touch as a storyteller. Here she successfully navigates the awkward feat of weaving together the couple’s gently probing conversations, her husband’s archival documentation, other historical sources and her own reporting.

“An Unfinished Love Story” offers a bird’s-eye view of familiar events, and of a decade marked by both idealism and political violence. “Too often,” Goodwin writes, with her characteristic optimism, “memories of assassination, violence, and social turmoil have obscured the greatest illumination of the Sixties, the spark of communal idealism and belief that kindled social justice and love for a more inclusive vision of America.”

While arguing for this rosier perspective, the book provides nuance and detail on matters such as the origins of the Peace Corps and the Alliance for Progress, Robert F. Kennedy’s private agonies over whether to challenge LBJ for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1968, and Jackie Kennedy’s emotional struggles after her husband’s 1963 assassination. In a 1966 letter from Hawaii, Jackie addresses Dick Goodwin, her close friend, as a fellow “lost soul” and complains of “memories that drag you down into a life that can never be the same.” That is a sentiment that Doris Kearns Goodwin understands.

She and the then-married Goodwin — with his “curly, disheveled black hair,” “thick, unruly eyebrows” and “pockmarked face” — met at Harvard in 1972, where she taught a popular course on the American presidency. He had left the Johnson administration in 1965, three years before she joined it, and had become disillusioned with the Vietnam War. Despite having penned her own antiwar piece for the New Republic, she would become an LBJ confidante, an aide on his presidential memoirs and a lifelong admirer.

Not just a speechwriter but a policy advisor and political strategist, Dick Goodwin enjoyed a Zelig-like march through 20th century American history. President of the Harvard Law Review and law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter, Goodwin worked for two presidents, John F. Kennedy and Johnson, and several would-be presidents, including Eugene McCarthy and Robert F. Kennedy. He later wrote the concession speech that Al Gore delivered after the Supreme Court stopped the recount of the 2000 presidential election vote in Florida.

According to his widow, Goodwin idolized the coolly self-possessed JFK, fused with LBJ, regarded McCarthy as “the most original mind” he’d encountered in politics and adored RFK, his best friend of the bunch. (No mention is made here of the seamier side of these politicians’ lives, or how their sexual indiscretions bear on their legacies.)

Nearly every Democratic leader seems to have sought the services of the brilliant, cigar-smoking, workaholic Goodwin. But, as “An Unfinished Love Story” makes clear, he was more than a pen for hire. Goodwin had passionately held views about civil rights, the alleviation of poverty and other issues. As Johnson’s principal speechwriter, he helped fashion both the title and the programs of the Great Society. He was responsible for LBJ’s single most powerful speech, on behalf of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which coopted the anthem of the civil rights movement: “We Shall Overcome.”

Goodwin left the Johnson administration, against the president’s wishes, to pursue a solo writing career. Over time, his public stance against American involvement in Vietnam pitted him against his former boss. “It’s like being bitten by your own dog,” Johnson said of Goodwin’s defection.

Goodwin was, at heart, deeply loyal, his widow suggests, even if he sometimes chose loyalty to principles over personal attachments. On the other hand, when a previously hesitant Bobby Kennedy entered the 1968 Democratic primary race against McCarthy, friendship prevailed, and Goodwin switched sides, as he had earlier warned McCarthy he would. The RFK assassination, following victory in the California Democratic primary (and Martin Luther King Jr.’s murder earlier that year), was shattering for Goodwin, as for so many others.

“An Unfinished Love Story” is at its most moving when it touches on the Goodwins’ long, happy, occasionally contentious marriage; its bumpy origins (after becoming a widower, he wasn’t as ready to commit as she was); and his emotional farewell. Always attuned to relationships, Goodwin is an astute chronicler of her own.

Beyond underlining the brighter side of the 1960s, the archive and the conversations it prompted changed the couple’s views of the two presidents they served. She gained a deeper appreciation of the impact of Kennedy’s idealism, she writes, while her husband moderated his long-standing bitterness toward Johnson. Embedded in that rapprochement is an unstated hope: that more knowledge and informed debate might somehow ease our country’s current political polarization as well.
