Why Should Current Education Models Include Art and Culture?

Art is so much more than a medium of expression. While it helps local craftspeople promote their creativity and culture, developing synergy between different communities is essential. Beyond culture, art also promotes people's cognitive abilities and critical skills, especially in children. If art is excluded from the academic curriculum, a child will face difficulties adapting to new cultures and environments. 

Art helps the younger generation adopt a diverse opinion set and successfully influences people towards the roots of society. It is also scientifically proven that art can help in reducing interdisciplinary actions, increasing attendance, and helping kids respond better in classrooms. However, some people can argue against the cause by replacing art lessons with academic concepts. In my opinion, eliminating art from school programs is another way to invite trouble and make education boring. With art, kids have the opportunity to bond with each other and creatively present their ideas. 

It is believed that children have gifted creative abilities, and regular art lessons can help stimulate their intellect. In the earlier stages of life, kids often find it challenging to catch up with linguistic capabilities and problem-solving skills. However, art helps simplify basic concepts, thus strengthening their overall academic acumen. It does not mean that academics should entirely be replaced by art. Both entities are equally important and must be essential for school coursework. However, if taught together, academics and art can bring a new change in a kid's life by giving them a healthy balance of all subjects. 

Apart from academic development, art is also linked to improved emotional intelligence in children. All art forms help stimulate emotions and present 21st-century educators with an innovative way to help kids think better. Teachers can also use art to explain scientific topics in an improved manner. For example, kids are more likely to learn basic mathematics if they see diagrammatic representation rather than just writing numbers on their notebooks. 

To conclude, we can say that schools must include art in the coursework. While some people believe it will distract and poorly affect kids' grades, it is not entirely true. Art helps kids connect with their culture at the root level and brings a sense of belonging. Overall, students can also express their values more clearly, thus making it easy for parents and teachers to track their progress.

Art has presented a medium for different cultures to express their values and connect. As a result, we come across an array of art forms all across the globe. All these forms are interrelated and possess similarities and dissimilarities. While art has played a crucial role in connecting society, we also notice more people turning to science, technology, and business sectors. 

This shift in priorities can be attributed to the lack of basic infrastructure and an everlasting need to improve the lifestyle. People believe that art is a mere expression form and not a means of adding value and character to their lives. While it is easy to admire a canvas painting or a marble sculpture, it does not improve the way our society operates. For example, a science degree is likely to get a well-paid job in a multinational corporation compared to an art degree. However, it is not entirely true. Art has given most communities a way to sustain their cultural values. Additionally, it has also been a source of revenue for underprivileged communities and resulted in their cultural and financial empowerment. Therefore, authorities must take the proper steps to promote and revive gradually disappearing art forms. 

Government can take the much-needed steps to promote art by organizing cultural events and opening more national galleries. A formal acknowledgment and celebration of the art form will help create more awareness of the cause. 

While technology has presented people with a way to connect, it has also created a more extensive community divide by acting as a two-edged sword. Art can help fill that void and bring together a larger proportion of people. Technology has made all forms of content more accessible. It has ultimately resulted in shorter attention spans. But with the promotion of art and culture at the root level, we can expect more development in our cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills. 

In conclusion, we can safely say that art is losing popularity and importance as it does not help people scale their careers. However, there is a growing need for the promotion of art. It helps us connect to our cultural roots and presents us with a way to express our thoughts and ideas. Government should focus on allotting a separate budget for the art and culture sector and provide more job opportunities in the same field.

There are two words which you need to learn: 1) The arts This relates to art and other skills which reflect human creativity and expression such as dancing, threatre, video making, design etc 2) art This relates to painting, drawing and sculpting. It is usually something created with hands or brushes and involves an image or picture being formed. This is a general definition.

Spending on Theatres and Museums or Medical Care and Education

Some people think that the government should not put money into building theatres and museums, but spend more money on medical care and education. To what extent do you agree or disagree? In recent years, the question of whether the government should allocate more money to the construction of theatres and museums or the development of medical care and education has become controversial. Some people suggest that the construction of theatres and museums needs to be given priority. However, I advocate putting more money into medical care and education. There are several reasons to support my view. First, medical care and education are the basic needs of the general public. The opportunity of receiving medical care and education is indispensable to members of a modern society. Human beings get sick, so they need to receive medical care. Human beings need to learn in order to make a livelihood, so they need to be educated. Their needs of receiving medical care and education are thus related to the nature of human beings, which is an inflexible demand. In addition, satisfying people’s basic needs is an imperative for accountable governments. If a government cannot deliver fundamental medical care and education to the public, it will inevitably discredit its people whom it governs. As a result, the legitimacy of the government gradually declines, costing the whole society stability and solidarity. However, the view of those who suggest putting more public funds into building more theatres and museums are understandable. They care more about the cultivation of people’s sense of art and culture. But I need to point out that these are not basic needs of people, lessening the necessity of such a suggestion. In conclusion, the need of putting more public funds into medical care and education overwhelms that of allocating more public funds to the construction of theatres and museums. Studying Art and Music in School

All students should be required to study art and music in secondary school. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? There is an argument that students should be required to study arts and music. I completely agree with this statement for two reasons. Arts and music helps students to be more creative and also it helps students to relax their busy schedule. First of all, arts and music help people to be creative. In secondary school, student have more tendency to learn new things. If they receive arts and music education they will not only become more creative but also, possibly develop interest in this relevant area. Even, if they don't like arts and music, they will learn to evaluate problems from a different angle. Secondly, nowadays all students are very busy and they need relaxation. Good music can help students to relax and forget about their problems. They always work hard for their lessons so they have to be relax in during school day It is true that maths, science and history are very important lessons but they can be too hard for them in a they therefore there needs to be arts and music. In conclusion, every family wants their children become to be a doctor or an engineer but they never think about their abilities. However, this situation can be overcome if appropriate measures are taken to attract youngsters towards artworks.

In the interconnected world, many people do not consider arts as an important subject. Instead, they think that learning arts subjects may not help them professionally and monetarily, and focusing on other subjects is the only gateway to success. To be more precise, art is usually considered a hobby rather than an independent profession.

It is an acknowledged fact that art is the backbone of every culture, and absence of interest in art will eventually lead to the decline of cultural heritage around the world. In order to avoid this cultural ruin, it is immensely important to increase the awareness of art, and the governments can revive interests in younger generations by constructing art galleries, organizing cultural events, and maintaining museums. The government authorities should take the necessary steps to bring alertness to artwork. This way, it will attract more individuals towards art, which will help generate more revenue. Better financial prospects will boost and elevate the people to pursue art as a passion and a career option.

To sum up, science, technology, and business are lucrative in terms of job prospects, but art too can be a reliable source of livelihood. Thus, the government’s efforts can facilitate the survival of art as it is the only way to keep our culture and traditions alive for future generations.

Every civilization that came into existence has become immemorial due to the exclusive art they bring into the world. Due to this reason, arts have been an intrinsic part of every culture all the world throughout history. Unfortunately, nowadays, people tend to be partial towards scientific studies and business. Therefore, in this essay, various reasons for this transition and ways to prevent this favouritism will be analyzed to reach a denouement.

The primary reason for this prejudice against arts is the scope of employment. Multinational companies and high-ending jobs mostly look for candidates who are enlightened in scientific methods as they deal with an array of technological advancements. When the contender from the field of arts gets less priority and proclivity, they form the opinion that it is best to take up the practical streams of studies, namely, science, technology and business. Additionally, the lifestyle of every individual is swayed by the different modes of technology that determine our current way of life as well as our future. As a result, they feel that partaking in scientific and commercial studies is more lucrative than dwelling in the past that is presented through the arts. Furthermore, in professional terms, artists and creative developers are not revered like scientists and thriving business personnel. If one takes a look at history, most acclaimed artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Franz Schubert, Oscar Wilde, among many others, died penniless as their genius was not recognized.

To curtail discrimination, individuals have to change their mindset as they should realize that without arts, a country or a community will be bereaved of its ethnic identity. So, one of the most important steps to sustain our aesthetic integrity is to arouse passion among the young generation. The government should organize various programs galvanizing people to appreciate the arts. Other than that, different study courses and employment opportunities should be devised to stimulate the working population to consider taking up arts or participating in such activities. Consequently, the general public should be made aware of the fact that the heritage buildings and sites that showcase the art and celebrate the history of the past are one of the factors that attract tourists and help in creating revenue for the country.

To conclude, it can be said that the genesis of the universe is a masterpiece created by the amalgamation of arts and science. Ergo, they cannot survive without each other. Hence, it is our duty to acknowledge the importance of both these fields along with the knowledge of economic negotiations to make our life survival interesting and our future secure.

Meaning: (of a level or amount) higher or greater than normal. Eg: The newly introduced scheme will elevate the status of working women in the society.

Meaning: producing a great deal of profit. Eg: The students got placed under reputed organizations with lucrative offers.

• Independent

Meaning: free from outside control; not subject to another’s authority Eg: Rose was living independently in the UK.

Meaning: of support or subsistence Eg: People across the world believe that it’s difficult for artists and painters to earn a livelihood.

• Acknowledge

Meaning: accept or admit the existence or truth of. Eg: Even after acknowledging the truth, the principle didn’t punish the students.

Meaning: a situation in which something no longer exists Eg: The Bengal Tigers are on the verge of extinction.

Arts reflect the heritage of the nation and creativeness of an individual. However in modern days, many people think that devoting attention towards arts is a waste time. In reality the youth tend to focus more on science, technology and business which will help them to get job upon graduation easily. It’s opposite to my point of view, as I believe that arts is also equally important as science for the progression of the nation.

Many youngster thinks that diverting their attention towards arts will hamper them financially in near future. For example, in this era of digitalization doing specialization in fields like engineering, doctors, teacher will be help them to land with better package than that of arts. As monetary fund by government is mostly invested in Hospital , transportations, schools and in other infrastructures. So working on this fields will provide them more opportunities in work field.

Most of the people now a days takes Arts as a hobby rather than a profession and the importance of Arts is slowly disappearing from society. This problem can alleviate by depicting importance of Arts among young generations with the help of seminars and plays where artists can show that science and arts can go hand in hand. More number of galleries and theaters should be funded by the government which will attract tourists all over the world and will help to boost the economy of the country and at the same time will inspire young generation in a positive way to take up arts as there choice of profession. A joint effort from the government and private bodies should be taken to create more job opportunities in arts to encourage people to take up different form of arts like painting, singing, dancing and acting as their major.

In conclusion, It is clear to me that focusing in science is vital but arts is also equally importance. Arts can also be a reliable source of livelihood. The government effort can help people to understand the value of arts, as it’s the only way to keep the culture and tradition intact for the future generation.

Concentrate on the correct usage of articles, verb forms, prepositions, subject-verb agreement and punctuation.

Pay attention to spellings and correct use of words in a sentence.

Follow the conventions. Only the first letter of the word in a sentence and proper nouns must be in capitals and there should be proper space between words.

It has been noticed by some individuals that art plays a vital role in every culture globally. Although, only some amount of popultion is rewarding art and mostly emphasis on science, technology and business. I belive this phenomenon is occured beacuse of insufficient knowdelge about culture, which attracts more public, hence, we could motivate people by organizing events appropriately.

To begin with, the foremost reason of art is not being appreaciated by the society is due to lack of imformation about culture and history. In other words, since technology has been imtroduced to the youth from their early age, therefore, they are more likely to expose themselves to new devices and seeking data related to their work purposes. Not only adults are fascinated with video games and other medias, but also nowaday, elderly citizens are more attracted towards hi-tech. A good example of this is parents are the role models of every child. However, they are mostly using digital gadgets, when a child is around them instead of demonstrating him handcraft, which they might know, therefore, a toddler is automatically learning what his family is doing. This directly indicates that shortgage of knowledge among youth theseday may leads to an extinction of important art.

Despite, there are certain measures could be taken to address this issue. The main approach is conducting events by government and schools. To explain futher, if authorities are willing to introduce cultural art such as Knitting, classical music and woodencraft by showing people and encurage masses to participate. In addition, education centres could also add this extra activities and give prize to students. By doing this, community can sustain culture of art and also motive their children to show their creativity and imagination, which might aid them to choose career path and embrace new opportunities in their way.

In conclusion, it can be eventually said that presently, people are less likely to invole in art completition and give priority to new developed technology. I think proper awareness and guidance by government and institutions can provide positive impacts on upcoming generation, in order to preserve art.

Many people believe that arts form an important part of every culture around the world. But in today’s world, only less numbers of people are attracted towards arts and majority are interested in science, technology and business. In my opinion, I believe it’s because of the less income people getting being an artist and the difficulty in becoming a reputed artist. There are several measures which should be implemented to solve this problem. Firstly, the reason for people not opting for arts is due to the low income they are paid when compared to the engineering and business fields. Artists don’t earn steadily like the other professions as they are needed only when there is a demand for them, a musical concert or an exhibition, for instance. Secondly, the decline in interest towards arts is because of the difficulty in becoming a reputed artist. People always look for an artist who has a high expertise in that field and it takes quite a long time to be in that position for them. There are two effective solutions to the problem of less focus towards arts. One way to tackle this is to ensure that art is being taught as a subject in schools along with the elementary ones. Children should study at least one of them compulsorily and this would in turn make many of them, in future, to pursue higher studies in the field of arts. Another method is to provide pensions to people working in these fields, for example, sculptures, painters, musicians etc, by the government. Every one ultimately looks for financial stability and this scheme would definitely encourage people to turn up for arts. In conclusion, developing the interest for arts right from small age and providing good pay with pension system can help many individuals to be attracted towards arts. This eventually results in the development of culture which is a heritage owned by a country.

Essay on Art and Culture for Ielts General Training Task-2 is one of the common topics for Essay writing. The topic might change a bit or the type of the essay might also be changed, so accordingly the structure of the essay needs to be restructured. However, the content of the essay can be used to put relevant ideas on the same topic.

Many governments in the world spend large amounts of money on art, which helps to improve the quality of people’s lives. However, governments should spend money on other things rather than art. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion.

Approach for the Essay on Art and Culture for Ielts General Training Task-2

It is true that authorities invest a great deal of money in order to preserve art and culture of their country. For some people, the authorities could invest the same effort and money on other development activities but I disagree with this fact that we should allow art and culture of any country to be vanished over the time due to lack of attention.

Firstly, people beyond the borders like to experience different traditions when they visit other country and neatly maintained art and culture attracts more visitors. Tourist pours to United Kingdom during Christmas celebrations from across the world to experience their culture and local celebration. Secondly, this also provides employment to local people who sell handmade items which tourists normally like to purchase. For an example, local people sell potteries, statues, or wall hangings nearby Taj Mahal in India, employs many from the state and which in turn adds to the GDP of the country.

In addition to that, it should be our moral responsibility to maintain the history of the country for the next generation. Help from the authority to the local artists could aid interest among other people as well. New Zealand Government partly funded the production of a locally made movie which emphasizes on their culture. Nevertheless, art and culture is also used for educational purpose for children where schools provide guided tours to local museums to explain them the history of the country. These fun filled learning activities would be missed if authorities do not spend some money in maintaining the museums.

In conclusion, it is not just the responsibility of the Government authority but also the local people of every country to help preserving the art and culture of their country.

Why Should Current Education Models Include Art and Culture?

Art is so much more than a medium of expression. While it helps local craftspeople promote their creativity and culture, developing synergy between different communities is essential. Beyond culture, art also promotes people's cognitive abilities and critical skills, especially in children. If art is excluded from the academic curriculum, a child will face difficulties adapting to new cultures and environments. 

Art helps the younger generation adopt a diverse opinion set and successfully influences people towards the roots of society. It is also scientifically proven that art can help in reducing interdisciplinary actions, increasing attendance, and helping kids respond better in classrooms. However, some people can argue against the cause by replacing art lessons with academic concepts. In my opinion, eliminating art from school programs is another way to invite trouble and make education boring. With art, kids have the opportunity to bond with each other and creatively present their ideas. 

It is believed that children have gifted creative abilities, and regular art lessons can help stimulate their intellect. In the earlier stages of life, kids often find it challenging to catch up with linguistic capabilities and problem-solving skills. However, art helps simplify basic concepts, thus strengthening their overall academic acumen. It does not mean that academics should entirely be replaced by art. Both entities are equally important and must be essential for school coursework. However, if taught together, academics and art can bring a new change in a kid's life by giving them a healthy balance of all subjects. 

Apart from academic development, art is also linked to improved emotional intelligence in children. All art forms help stimulate emotions and present 21st-century educators with an innovative way to help kids think better. Teachers can also use art to explain scientific topics in an improved manner. For example, kids are more likely to learn basic mathematics if they see diagrammatic representation rather than just writing numbers on their notebooks. 

To conclude, we can say that schools must include art in the coursework. While some people believe it will distract and poorly affect kids' grades, it is not entirely true. Art helps kids connect with their culture at the root level and brings a sense of belonging. Overall, students can also express their values more clearly, thus making it easy for parents and teachers to track their progress.

Art has presented a medium for different cultures to express their values and connect. As a result, we come across an array of art forms all across the globe. All these forms are interrelated and possess similarities and dissimilarities. While art has played a crucial role in connecting society, we also notice more people turning to science, technology, and business sectors. 

This shift in priorities can be attributed to the lack of basic infrastructure and an everlasting need to improve the lifestyle. People believe that art is a mere expression form and not a means of adding value and character to their lives. While it is easy to admire a canvas painting or a marble sculpture, it does not improve the way our society operates. For example, a science degree is likely to get a well-paid job in a multinational corporation compared to an art degree. However, it is not entirely true. Art has given most communities a way to sustain their cultural values. Additionally, it has also been a source of revenue for underprivileged communities and resulted in their cultural and financial empowerment. Therefore, authorities must take the proper steps to promote and revive gradually disappearing art forms. 

Government can take the much-needed steps to promote art by organizing cultural events and opening more national galleries. A formal acknowledgment and celebration of the art form will help create more awareness of the cause. 

While technology has presented people with a way to connect, it has also created a more extensive community divide by acting as a two-edged sword. Art can help fill that void and bring together a larger proportion of people. Technology has made all forms of content more accessible. It has ultimately resulted in shorter attention spans. But with the promotion of art and culture at the root level, we can expect more development in our cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills. 

In conclusion, we can safely say that art is losing popularity and importance as it does not help people scale their careers. However, there is a growing need for the promotion of art. It helps us connect to our cultural roots and presents us with a way to express our thoughts and ideas. Government should focus on allotting a separate budget for the art and culture sector and provide more job opportunities in the same field.

A.I.-Generated Garbage Is Polluting Our Culture

Increasingly, mounds of synthetic A.I.-generated outputs drift across our feeds and our searches. The stakes go far beyond what’s on our screens. The entire culture is becoming affected by A.I.’s runoff, an insidious creep into our most important institutions.

Consider science. Right after the blockbuster release of GPT-4, the latest artificial intelligence model from OpenAI and one of the most advanced in existence, the language of scientific research began to mutate. Especially within the field of A.I. itself.

Commendable

A study published this month examined scientists’ peer reviews — researchers’ official pronouncements on others’ work that form the bedrock of scientific progress — across a number of high-profile and prestigious scientific conferences studying A.I. At one such conference, those peer reviews used the word “meticulous” more than 34 times as often as reviews did the previous year. Use of “commendable” was around 10 times as frequent, and “intricate,” 11 times. Other major conferences showed similar patterns.

Such phrasings are, of course, some of the favorite buzzwords of modern large language models like ChatGPT. In other words, significant numbers of researchers at A.I. conferences were caught handing their peer review of others’ work over to A.I. — or, at minimum, writing them with lots of A.I. assistance. And the closer to the deadline the submitted reviews were received, the more A.I. usage was found in them.

If this makes you uncomfortable — especially given A.I.’s current unreliability — or if you think that maybe it shouldn’t be A.I.s reviewing science but the scientists themselves, those feelings highlight the paradox at the core of this technology: It’s unclear what the ethical line is between scam and regular usage. Some A.I.-generated scams are easy to identify, like the medical journal paper featuring a cartoon rat sporting enormous genitalia. Many others are more insidious, like the mislabeled and hallucinated regulatory pathway described in that same paper — a paper that was peer reviewed as well (perhaps, one might speculate, by another A.I.?).

What about when A.I. is used in one of its intended ways — to assist with writing? Recently, there was an uproar when it became obvious that simple searches of scientific databases returned phrases like “As an A.I. language model” in places where authors relying on A.I. had forgotten to cover their tracks. If the same authors had simply deleted those accidental watermarks, would their use of A.I. to write their papers have been fine?

What’s going on in science is a microcosm of a much bigger problem. Post on social media? Any viral post on X now almost certainly includes A.I.-generated replies, from summaries of the original post to reactions written in ChatGPT’s bland Wikipedia-voice, all to farm for follows. Instagram is filling up with A.I.-generated models, Spotify with A.I.-generated songs. Publish a book? Soon after, on Amazon there will often appear A.I.-generated “workbooks” for sale that supposedly accompany your book (which are incorrect in their content; I know because this happened to me). Top Google search results are now often A.I.-generated images or articles. Major media outlets like Sports Illustrated have been creating A.I.-generated articles attributed to equally fake author profiles. Marketers who sell search engine optimization methods openly brag about using A.I. to create thousands of spammed articles to steal traffic from competitors.

Then there is the growing use of generative A.I. to scale the creation of cheap synthetic videos for children on YouTube. Some example outputs are Lovecraftian horrors, like music videos about parrots in which the birds have eyes within eyes, beaks within beaks, morphing unfathomably while singing in an artificial voice, “The parrot in the tree says hello, hello!” The narratives make no sense, characters appear and disappear randomly, and basic facts like the names of shapes are wrong. After I identified a number of such suspicious channels on my newsletter, The Intrinsic Perspective, Wired found evidence of generative A.I. use in the production pipelines of some accounts with hundreds of thousands or even millions of subscribers.

As a neuroscientist, this worries me. Isn’t it possible that human culture contains within it cognitive micronutrients — things like cohesive sentences, narrations and character continuity — that developing brains need? Einstein supposedly said : “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be very intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” But what happens when a toddler is consuming mostly A.I.-generated dream-slop? We find ourselves in the midst of a vast developmental experiment.

There’s so much synthetic garbage on the internet now that A.I. companies and researchers are themselves worried, not about the health of the culture, but about what’s going to happen with their models. As A.I. capabilities ramped up in 2022, I wrote on the risk of culture’s becoming so inundated with A.I. creations that when future A.I.s are trained, the previous A.I. output will leak into the training set, leading to a future of copies of copies of copies, as content became ever more stereotyped and predictable. In 2023 researchers introduced a technical term for how this risk affected A.I. training: model collapse . In a way, we and these companies are in the same boat, paddling through the same sludge streaming into our cultural ocean.

With that unpleasant analogy in mind, it’s worth looking to what is arguably the clearest historical analogy for our current situation: the environmental movement and climate change. For just as companies and individuals were driven to pollute by the inexorable economics of it, so, too, is A.I.’s cultural pollution driven by a rational decision to fill the internet’s voracious appetite for content as cheaply as possible. While environmental problems are nowhere near solved, there has been undeniable progress that has kept our cities mostly free of smog and our lakes mostly free of sewage. How?

Before any specific policy solution was the acknowledgment that environmental pollution was a problem in need of outside legislation. Influential to this view was a perspective developed in 1968 by Garrett Hardin, a biologist and ecologist. Dr. Hardin emphasized that the problem of pollution was driven by people acting in their own interest, and that therefore “we are locked into a system of ‘fouling our own nest,’ so long as we behave only as independent, rational, free-enterprisers.” He summed up the problem as a “tragedy of the commons.” This framing was instrumental for the environmental movement, which would come to rely on government regulation to do what companies alone could or would not.

Once again we find ourselves enacting a tragedy of the commons: short-term economic self-interest encourages using cheap A.I. content to maximize clicks and views, which in turn pollutes our culture and even weakens our grasp on reality. And so far, major A.I. companies are refusing to pursue advanced ways to identify A.I.’s handiwork — which they could do by adding subtle statistical patterns hidden in word use or in the pixels of images.

A common justification for inaction is that human editors can always fiddle around with whatever patterns are implemented if they know enough. Yet many of the issues we’re experiencing are not caused by motivated and technically skilled malicious actors; they’re caused mostly by regular users’ not adhering to a line of ethical use so fine as to be nigh nonexistent. Most would be uninterested in advanced countermeasures to statistical patterns enforced into outputs that should, ideally, mark them as A.I.-generated.

That’s why the independent researchers were able to detect A.I. outputs in the peer review system with surprisingly high accuracy: They actually tried. Similarly, right now teachers across the nation have created home-brewed output-side detection methods , like adding in hidden requests for patterns of word use to essay prompts that appear only when copy-pasted.

In particular, A.I. companies appear opposed to any patterns baked into their output that can improve A.I.-detection efforts to reasonable levels, perhaps because they fear that enforcing such patterns might interfere with the model’s performance by constraining its outputs too much — although there is no current evidence this is a risk. Despite public pledges to develop more advanced watermarking, it’s increasingly clear that the companies are dragging their feet because it goes against the A.I. industry’s bottom line to have detectable products.

To deal with this corporate refusal to act we need the equivalent of a Clean Air Act: a Clean Internet Act. Perhaps the simplest solution would be to legislatively force advanced watermarking intrinsic to generated outputs, like patterns not easily removable. Just as the 20th century required extensive interventions to protect the shared environment, the 21st century is going to require extensive interventions to protect a different, but equally critical, common resource, one we haven’t noticed up until now since it was never under threat: our shared human culture.
