study aid essay reviews

The Pomodoro Technique is a popular time management method that can help high school students study more effectively by breaking their study sessions into shorter, focused intervals.

Here are a few examples of how the Pomodoro Technique can be applied to studying:

  • Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on a specific task during that time, such as reading a chapter of a textbook or working on a math problem set.
  • Take a short break (5-10 minutes) after each 25-minute study session.
  • After 4 Pomodoro sessions, take a longer break (15-30 minutes) to rest and recharge.
  • Use the technique to focus on one subject at a time. This way you can avoid multitasking and increase productivity and focus on what you are doing.
  • Use the technique to break down big projects or assignments into smaller, manageable tasks and tackle them one by one.
  • Use it to schedule your day, to make sure you have time for everything that you need to do.

The Pomodoro Technique is a simple but powerful tool that can help high school students study more efficiently and effectively. By breaking down study sessions into shorter intervals, students can stay focused and avoid burnout, while also allowing themselves regular breaks to rest and recharge. Give it a try and see how it can help you improve your study habits!

The Blog of the Dorraine Zief Law Library at the University of San Francisco

Study aids: what are they, how do you use them, and where do you find them.

Now that we’re a few weeks into the semester, you’ve likely accumulated a solid amount of information from your courses and, with midterm exams nearing, now may be a good time to look back and make sure you’re confident with that knowledge. Is there an area of Torts you need to review? Did a certain rule in Evidence not stick? Or, are you ready to test your issue-spotting skills in Constitutional Law? Fortunately, the Zief Law Library is stocked with a wide variety of study aids in book, eBook, and audio/video formats to meet your learning styles and help you review. Here, we’ll dive into what study aids are, how you can use them, and where you can find them.

What are study aids?

Study aids are commonly books, audio recordings, videos, and even flashcards, produced by major publishers that can help reiterate , reorganize , and reinforce what you’re learning in your law classes. As opposed to your casebooks, which teach you the law and lawyering skills using the case method, study aids can supplement your learning by putting the black-letter law, analysis, and examples into straightforward, plain language.

How can I use a study aid?

Study aids will vary in the depth and presentation, so they may provide different degrees of help at different points in the semester. Or, they may resonate with certain learning styles more than others. Below are descriptions of some of the leading study aid series we collect at Zief. But, for more detailed help in selecting the right study aid for you, talk to the research librarians!

Cover of "American Law and the American Legal System in a Nutshell"

Nutshell series: “Nutshells” are short, concise pocket books that can be great class starters or primers into new areas of law because they will not go into great detail or overwhelm with footnotes. Though lightweight by design, their titles cover an extensive array of legal courses and subtopics.

Cover of "Examples & Explanations: Constitutional Law"

Examples and Explanations series: “E&E’s” are well-known and are great companion guides to use throughout the semester. They offer clear explanations of concepts followed by hypothetical questions and explanations to reinforce your learning as you go.

Cover of "The Glannon Guide to Sales"

Glannon Guide series: “ Glannon Guides” are also great to use throughout the semester, as they offer short textual summaries followed immediately by multiple choice questions with thorough answer explanations and exam tips.

Cover of "Understanding Intellectual Property Law"

Understanding series: Unlike E&E’s or Glannon Guides, the Understanding series is not intended to help with exam preparation and does not offer example questions. However, it does offer more in-depth reiterations of the black-letter law and deeper explanations about, and citations to, leading cases.

Cover of "Mastering Environmental Law"

Mastering series: Like the Understanding series, the Mastering series reiterates legal concepts in plain language and does not offer practice questions. However, its text is less-detailed and it does not have footnotes. Each section provides a roadmap, checkpoints, and a master checklist to help identify areas that need further review.

How can I find study aids?

At Zief Law Library, we have study aids in print, eBook, audio/video, and electronic flashcards for you to use. So, whether you’re in the library, reviewing during your commute, or studying off-site, our study aids are easily available. As always,  feel free to ask any of the library staff for help finding your favorites!

Unsolicited

Study Aids has a rating of 4.88 stars from 8 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Study Aids ranks 277th among Homework sites.

“Trustworthy and Reliable.”

At first I was unsure if I should purchase material from an online website given the negative feedback that most of these sites have. I contacted study-aids to make sure they operate in the UK as advertised and that I would receive my order via email within a reasonable time frame. My experience = Company operates within the UK and not overseas. The dissertation I purchased (reference purposes only) was of a high standard and helped me structure my own research project. The dissertation was emailed within 1 hour of payment. I cannot recommend this site highly enough. I am very satisfied and I will use again should the need arise.

Why more students trust The BARBRI Way

“Thank you to Prof. Richard Freer for saving me in Civ Pro!!! Our entire law school loves him. When I talked to 2L and 3Ls about how to feel less overwhelmed by the huge amount of Civ Pro material, the advice I got was “watch Richard Freer (through BARBRI 1L Mastery), he will save your life.” I quickly understood why all the upperclassmen mention Prof. Freer’s name without missing a beat. He organizes the info in a way that makes sense and makes it easy to “keep it mechanical.” All you have to do is follow his steps! He offers great hypos and opportunities to check that you actually understand what he is saying. I never thought I would find myself laughing when learning about Civil Procedure, but Prof. Freer had fun while teaching us and added many jokes that made the material much more enjoyable. I even surprised my friends when I said that I actually  enjoy  Civ Pro. I never would have reached this point without Prof Freer, so thank you!”

Polly A. Berman

"The BARBRI first year outlines saved me this year! The materials are GOLD!! The BARBRI outlines are very efficient and great at breaking down complicated topics. I also used the practice essays and multiple-choice questions when studying for my exams. I finished the year in the top 13% of the class, making dean’s list. I also won an Excellence for the Future award for getting the highest grade in my Property Law class. I would highly recommend the BARBRI 1L Student Success Package."

Desiree Bagby

"As a 1L BARBRI was such a useful guide in order to understand the many complicated nuances that were involved with the core classes that year. I watched every single lecture by Professor Freer and to this day I will attest that he is the reason why I came to love Civil Procedure as my first year came to an end. The layout of the 1L mastery courses is so effective yet simple it makes understanding such overwhelming concepts feel like an attainable goal. I am so glad I found BARBRI and the mastery courses when I did."

UK Top Writers

Review: Study Aid Essays (Closed)

The writing quality isn't as good as it should be, company trust, customer service.

Study Aid Essays aren’t the service we would recommend if you’re looking for help with your essay. The writing quality isn’t as good as it should be, and the pricing is very high for most students’ budgets. You’ll be better off looking elsewhere for a more affordable, better-reviewed company in the UK .

Top Essay Services in UK

Studyaidessays.co.uk review.

❗️Update June 2023: Unfortunately, this service has closed.

studyaidessays.co.uk

Every student needs help with their essays every now and again. Can StudyAidEssays.co.uk help you when you’re too busy to write your essay yourself? We’ve investigated to see if they’re the right choice.

Right now, there are just under 50 writers working with StudyAidEssays, 14 of whom are from the UK. There are 17 writers with Masters degrees, and 7 with PhDs. We’re surprised to see such a small pool of writers at this service. With so little writers on staff, are you really going to get a writer who can handle your specific needs? Rating: 2/5

Before you order, you should check that the company you’re ordering from are trustworthy. Can you be sure they won’t sell on your information? When you take a look at the website here, you’ll see that they do mention that they keep your information 100% confidential. However, there’s no other information that shows you they’re safe. For example, you can’t see a physical address for the company, which is usually a good indicator. You’ll need to be careful if you order from a site like this. Rating: 3/5

No matter who you order from, you need to know that they can offer you high-quality writing. We’ve taken a look at what past customers are saying, as well as samples of their work, to see what they can offer. We saw that many of their writers struggle with including everything that’s needed in an essay. Sometimes a bibliography or contents page is missing, and sometimes it’s an important piece of research that should have been included. This could be because the writer doesn’t have the subject knowledge needed, or they’re rushed in putting out essays. Either way, it can cause problems for students later on. Rating: 3/5

studyaidessays.co.uk price

If you’ve ordered an essay before, you’ll know that prices can vary depending on what you need. As an example, let’s take a 2 page, 2:1 level essay that’s due in 10 days. With this service, this will cost £89.99 GBP. There’s no discount on this price for first-time customers. There are additional services you can buy, including:

  • References, £4.99 each
  • Slides, £36 each
  • Appendices, £36 per 250 words
  • Reflective log/diary, £72 per 250 words

Rating: 2/5

There’s a customer service team who can help you with your order, should you have any problems with it. They’re available 24/7, but some customers have said it can take a while to get a reply from them. This is an issue as you’re up against a deadline, and you don’t have a lot of time to wait. Rating: 2/5

Overall rating: 12/25

Admissions Essays and Financial Aid

Admissions essays are a key part of your college application. Essays can be challenging to write so here are some tips to help you.

Generally, admissions essays will need to be 650 words or less, depending on the school requirement. Remember to include: why the particular college you’re applying to is a good fit for you, the value you bring to a school, and why this particular college should invest in your education.

Admissions essays can go by different names. Here are some examples of other names:

  • Personal Statement
  • Personal Essay
  • Common App Essay
  • Coalition App Essay
  • University of California Personal Insight Questions (PIQs)

Colleges can require an admissions essay. These essays can also influence your financial aid package. Many colleges are generous with merit scholarships. A strong essay can boost your application so you secure a spot at a school and get financial aid.

In this guide, you will:

  • Learn the types of financial aid that colleges offer
  • Learn how the admissions  essay impacts merit scholarships
  • Start writing your essay

study aid essay reviews

Tip:  Your admissions essays do not impact your need-based financial aid.

Types of financial aid

Before we discuss how admissions essays affect financial aid, let’s review the types of financial aid. Your financial aid package may include two award sources: need-based assistance and merit scholarships .

  • You will complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for need-based aid. After your FAFSA form is processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that shows your Student Aid Index (SAI), formerly known as your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number. Colleges use the SAI to determine the need-based aid that you qualify for.
  • Check out DecidED’s FAFSA prep guide for more information on how to apply.
  • Not all colleges award merit scholarships. If they do, they may consider your GPA and test scores (if required or reported) when awarding merit scholarships. Many colleges also award merit scholarships for criteria such as high school activities, volunteer service, and demonstrated leadership. Colleges look for you to describe these qualities in your admissions essay.

Who decides financial aid?

On a typical college campus:

  • The  Office of Financial Aid  awards need-based aid using FAFSA and the CSS/Profile, a form used by 400 private colleges.
  • Merit scholarship awards mostly come from the  Admissions Office  after admissions counselors read and debrief your application. Admissions counselors decide on your candidacy and offer any merit scholarships you qualify for based on available dollars and how you compare to other students for the pool of funds.

When you understand the financial aid process from this perspective, you can see why the admissions essay has a lot of impact.

How to boost merit scholarships

A good college essay can also give you a boost if you apply to a college that is ACT/SAT test-optional. Many colleges rely on test scores. Without those scores, your essay is the factor colleges can use to bet on your promise to succeed.

What makes a good essay?

Successful essays read like a memoir or autobiographical sketch. You have had many lived experiences that you can write about. Choose one experience that is relevant to you and go deep. Here are some great admissions essays you can refer to for inspiration and some other good tips and examples .

Tip: The best essays are those that zoom into one, two, or a mosaic of snapshots in time. Find your unique snapshot and write about it.

Express your experiences. Other parts of your college application contain information about your grades, test scores, activities, and coursework.  Your essay is the place to write about something personal. As you write, keep digging so positive emotions, such as happiness and hope, are palpable in your essay.

Tip:  Before you begin writing about a particular experience, ask yourself:  “Why is this important to share?” Each time you answer, you move the reader from a  surface-level understanding of your experience to a deeper one. This helps make your essay stand out during admission and merit scholarship decisions.

Tell a clear story. Strong essays have a strong narrative and voice.

  • Story-like descriptions make your essay come alive. Show rather than tell directly. Consider yourself the main character in this story. Set up your essay with an attention grabbing beginning, middle, and end.
  • Strong essays are entertaining, both for you to write and for your audience to read. Don’t be afraid to explain your emotions, discoveries, and curiosities to show your complex layers and readiness for college-level learning.
Tip: Write a compelling story admissions counselors will want to read from start to finish. A memorable essay can help you win merit scholarship awards.

Show colleges why you’re a great fit. Your essay answers two important questions about you: who you are and why you’re a great fit for a school. Be yourself and focus on telling your story so colleges understand why you’re an ideal candidate for their program.  Unlike a Hollywood film, your story doesn’t have an end. Your script is still evolving, and where you spend the next four years will shape your story even more.
