by Charles & Frances Hunter, as told by Roland Buck

"Don't be afraid. The Father has sent me to bring a message for you to bring to your church and the world." - Angel Gabriel

I am placing this amazing true story on the Internet for several reasons. First, I still have the same impression as Charles Hunter did about these messages from angels, that "the entire world needs to hear them." In addition to the Bible, it should be obvious that this book is also divinely inspired. Twenty three years after I first read about the angel Gabriel's 27 visitations with Pastor Buck, & visiting Roland Buck's church in 1980, I am still as convinced today as I was back in 1979. Since the Internet began in the 90s, it's time the message take on 'wings' on the WWW (world wide web), in the hopes that yet another person will be transformed by these incredible messages brought to us by special messengers straight from God's heart! Webmaster , Texas ( July 2002 )

Webmaster's Update, 2013: This online copy of AoA is the third printing that came out in the summer of 1979, written by Charles and Frances Hunter after many interviews of Pastor Buck, only months before his passing on Nov. 6, 1979 . Later editions by another publishing house contain only 15 chapters. This original edition has a chapter 16, entitled "In the Beginning" written by the Hunters, of yet more testimony to what God was doing. Charles and Frances Hunter spent nearly 40 years leading "healing explosions," where they prayed for the sick and taught Christians about the ministry of healing. Known as the Happy Hunters for their ready smiles and quick humor, the couple wrote more than 50 books about divine healing, including the best-seller, How to Heal the Sick. Frances Hunter went to be with the Lord in 2009 at the age of 93, followed the next year, 2010, by her husband Charles, who was 89.

Angels Designate Aaron Hicks For Assignment, Select Cole Tucker

MLB Trade Rumors

By Darragh McDonald | April 29, 2024 at 5:25pm CDT

The Angels announced a series of roster moves today, recalling right-hander Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake and selecting the contract of infielder Cole Tucker . In corresponding moves, they optioned right-hander Zac Kristofak to Salt Lake and designated outfielder Aaron Hicks for assignment.

Hicks, 34, was a pretty low risk pick-up for the Angels, at least from a financial perspective. His contract is still being paid by the Yankees, since they released him last year. The Angels added him to their roster but would only have to pay Hicks the prorated league minimum, with that amount subtracted from what the Yankees are paying.

There was a decent chance of them seeing a positive return on that investment, since Hicks seemed to bounce back with the Orioles last year. The O’s picked him up after the Yanks let him go, then Hicks went on to hit .275/.381/.425 in his time with Baltimore. That production translated to a wRC+ of 129 and Hicks also stole six bases in six tries.

But he’s looked far worse since donning an Angels uniform. Through 18 games this year, he’s produced an ugly line of .140/.222/.193 while striking out in 36.5% of his 63 plate appearances. His 9.5% walk rate is a bit above league average but below his career rate and even last year’s clip.

As Hicks has struggled, other outfielders have been in decent form. Both Mike Trout and Taylor Ward have been healthy and productive so far this season, while Jo Adell seems to finally be enjoying his long-awaited breakout.

Adell, 25, was selected 10th overall in 2017 and was a top 100 prospect on his way up the minor league ladder, but he struggled badly with strikeouts in his attempts to establish himself in the big leagues. He got sporadic playing time in the majors from 2020 to 2023 but was punched out in 35.4% of his plate appearances while hitting .214/.259/.366. This year, however, he’s hit .327/.382/.592 so far for a wRC+ of 174. Some regression is certainly forthcoming since he won’t be able to maintain a .382 batting average on balls in play, but he’s only striking out at a 23.6% clip so far this year.

The Angels are seemingly going to ride the hot hand and go with Adell next to Ward and Trout. Mickey Moniak is hitting a dismal .143/.200/.214 on the year but his .189 BABIP will surely come up over time. He’s striking out 30% of the time but that’s actually an improvement over last year’s 35% rate, when he rode a .389 BABIP to a line of .280/.307/.495. Since he’s younger than Hicks and comes with three additional years of cheap control, in addition to being out of options, he will hang onto the fourth outfielder job while Hicks is bumped off the roster.

By getting rid of Hicks, the Angels will add to their infield by selecting Tucker. Anthony Rendon and Michael Stefanic are on the injured list while Brandon Drury and Miguel Sanó have each missed a few games due to minor injuries in the past week. Nolan Schanuel , Zach Neto and Luis Rengifo have been the club’s three healthy infielders getting regular playing time, while Ehire Adrianza has picked up some playing time with Drury and Sanó banged up.

Coming into the season, the 27-year-old Tucker was in a similar position as Adell, a former first-round pick who hadn’t lived up to the hype. Selected 24th overall by the Pirates in 2014, Tucker has a batting line of just .216/.266/.318 in 479 major league plate appearances, scattered over the past five seasons.

He signed a minor league deal with the Mariners back in January but was granted his release back in March. He tells reporters today, including Sam Blum of The Athletic and Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com , that the Mariners offered him a coaching position after he was reassigned to minor league camp. But he wasn’t ready to quit playing yet and secured a minor league deal with the Angels.

He reported to the club’s Triple-A squad in Salt Lake and has been in great form of late. He’s made 42 plate appearances over 10 games, drawing eight walks and striking out nine times for rates of 19% and 21.4%, respectively. His .313/.439/.469 batting line translates to a wRC+ of 132, even in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

That’s a fairly small sample size relative to Tucker’s larger career struggles. In addition to his aforementioned major league work, he hit a tepid .243/.350/.363 in the minors over the 2021 to 2023 period. Regardless of his offensive abilities, Tucker can provide the Angels with some cover all over the diamond. He has played all four infield positions in his career and spent some time in the outfield as well. As mentioned, the club has various moving parts with the infield injuries, so Tucker can bounce around as needed.

He is out of options and will have to stick on the active roster or else be removed from the 40-man entirely if he gets squeezed from the club’s plans down the road. But if he manages to have a long-awaited breakout like Adell, he can be controlled for many seasons beyond this season since he has just over two years of major league service time.

The Angels will have a week to trade Hicks or pass him through waivers. He has more than enough service time to reject an outright assignment and elect free agency while retaining the remainder of his contract, which runs through 2025. Any club willing to give him a roster spot would be in the same spot as the Angels just were, only having to pay the prorated league minimum with the Yanks on the hook for the rest.

a few teams might have a little interest in him, but his career seems like it’s coming to an end soon.

' src=

I guess he only does good with the orioles or the twins…

' src=

He was pretty good for the Yankees from 2017-2020

' src=

Yankees and Orioles, and really mostly the Yankees. Wasn’t particularly good with the Twins. The Yankees pretty much stole him from Minnesota by trading John Ryan Murphy for Hicks. Wherefore art thou, JRM?

He put up 122, 127, 103 and 122 OPS+’s over four straight seasons, and one year was second in the AL in CF bWAR for the Yankees behind some guy named Trout. The gap between the two was huge. Point is he was productive for the Yankees when he played, but too injury prone.

Not sure what he has left, but some team(s) will give him a shot since he’ll only cost league minimum. Poor Hicks, though, what does he have? Oh, that’s right. He’s still being paid $10MM this year by the Yankees!

' src=

“Wherefore art thou, JRM?”

Just so’s ya know, JRM is a coach with the Phillies-affiliated Clearwater Threshers of the FSL. He’s still only 32, so…?

' src=

He was terrible with the Twins

' src=

Hicks should start learning basic Korean at this point. His former teammate Joey Gallo might be there to welcome him when he gets off that long overseas flight.

' src=

Its kind of a shame, because he was looking pretty solid during spring training, but I guess that’s why its spring training, and not real baseball.

' src=

Cole Tucker of -2.1 career WAR. Sad!

' src=

One of many failed first round picks of the Pirates.

' src=

Iirc, many had Tucker as more of a third round pick in 2014. Neal Huntington loved projectable and athletic players, even if it meant taking a high-risk guy.

His only upside is that he hasn’t had -that- much playing time, and maybe the seasoning he’s had in the minors makes him ready… oh wait, I’m trying to say this with a straight face.. I’m not even sure I buy this..

' src=

This whole article is kind of sad.

' src=

This organization is rudderless. Hicks should have been a 4th outfielder defensive replacement. His defense is elite. They started the season with him as a starter– mistake #1. Moniak should have been traded in the off season while his value was high and Adell should have been the starter to see if he could do it– mistake #2. Moniak hasn’t been allowed to play three games in a row– how is that reasonable or productive? Rotating three players through right field and now you release a guy who was also released last year? How is his lack of production a surprise?

' src=

You say this now? Talk about second guessing.

Excuse me? I said this all off season. I said trade Moniak– a lefthanded power hitting CF whom the Angels acknowledged had a lot of suitors. Adell was out of options, so he either played or had to be cut loose and that wasn’t going to happen. I advocated us needing THREE starters. I said trade Sandoval because he’s a head case and either trade Canning or make him the long man out of the pen. Both are in their 6th seasons and are what they are– not your idealized version based on potential. The entire rotation consists of 4s and 5s and that includes Detmers until he proves otherwise. Either break it down and rebuild properly or go get the players you need to compete. You’re the one that advocates for all our great players and has a problem with every free agent. Our players aren’t great. Sano was out of baseball for two years. We’ve had three right fielders, multiple guys at third, first, second. How many years in a row do we need to lose? We’re on pace for 58 wins after only 73 the last two years. They did the impossible and got nothing for Ohtani. And when you didn’t think the Anges could top that incompetence they did by explaining we don’t need a DH or a starting pitching add. We lost our ace and best hitter and they did not replace him in either spot.

You wanted to lock up the DH spot with JDM and give Adell away for nothing. And keep Hicks.

You really think that was smart?

' src=

I said trade Moniak– a lefthanded power hitting CF whom the Angels acknowledged had a lot of suitors. ============================== Moniak never had that type of market no matter what the Angels said, and probably not even remotely close. Think about this logically.

He was traded straight-up for 2 months of a semi-expensive Syndergaard. That’s the most one could expect, which is close to a -0- return.

But it’s actually worse than that. He just finished a season with a 113/9 K/W, and a 46/2 since August. With the usual disclaimer of “there’s always a chance”, he cannot hit, and no one was going to trade anything for him.

' src=

@halo11fan I do remember you advocating rengifo playing over signing urshela. Urshela is on the dl so I will give you that, but sounds like you figured out rengifo is a bum. They should’ve never signed hicks and kept Soto he’s fine off the bench. Definitely has more upside than tucker, and adrainza. Probably could’ve signed Lorenzen and released saurez a long time ago.

' src=

I agree with your observations. Too many problems up and down the lineup, and this team isn’t going to finish remotely close to making the playoffs this year or in the next 3 seasons. Seattle looks good right now and has a great core of young talent on their roster.

I think the strategy in playing Hicks was to see if he could play well enough that a playoff contender may want to pick him up. Jo Adell was a huge question mark, so it’s great to see that he seems to have finally figured things out.

At this point I would be looking to see what pieces could get flipped for a playoff contender. One move I wish they would have made during the offseason/spring training was to sign Trevor Bauer with the idea that he would be flipped before the deadline.

Just my two cents, but this team isn’t worth watching right now.

Talk about second guessing. ================== A lot of this was obvious. You have a team struggling to not finish 30th, and they are starting a 34 year old Hicks over a 25 year old former top-10 prospect? That’s just insane.

And I’m not sure how weak their farm is, but a 31 Sano at DH is not inspiring either.

Nothing is inspiring… except maybe their outfield….providing they play Adell

I bet you could trade Adell now for a RP.

' src=

I admit to not seeing him this year but his arm wasn’t the same after TJ surgery. I don’t think I would call his D elite.

' src=

A basic 40% K rate with average defensive outfielder, is why Moniak is not getting playing time. Now Moniak is a better defender than Adell. Adell is better in every other aspect. You are right, Moniak should of been traded for a controllable reliever

I doubt Moniak had any value. His K/W last year had to be one of the worst in history.

' src=

Why do you think Moniak, an out of options player with a 40%K rate can get you a controllable reliever? The best he could have gotten you is another fringe out of option player. I think keeping Moniak is the correct move, but only if you are going to play him. The Hicks signing never made sense to me.

There is no way you could have gotten anything for Moniak.

' src=

Elite defense? You haven’t watched him recently. Dude doesn’t pass the eye test, and that’s further confirmed with negative dWAR both last season and this one.

Someone actually looks at dWAR? Not your best defensive stat.

Whoever you are looking out, look at statcast.

' src=

Serious question- it’s a running joke that Hicks cares more about golf than baseball- what’s left on his Yankees extension is guaranteed, he seems like he’s broken down/burned out too much to be a productive major league player for baseball…. what about golf?

Does anybody know if Hicks is a good enough golfer to go even semi-pro, if not pro, and compete in high stakes tournaments with real prize money and sponsorships at stake?

Could he feasibly switch sports in that regard?

' src=

His wife plays pro golf, so I’d imagine the connections are there if he wants to pursue it.

' src=

Imagine being so bad that you get replaced by Cole Tucker.

well, the main reason is because Cole is an infielder and the Angels need an infielder.

' src=

Guess you missed Cole Hudgens first game as an Angel. He outplayed your favorite player ever Blaze Alexander.

' src=

They only activated Tucker to get Vanessa Hudgens at Angels’ games.

' src=

Smaller scale Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce move

' src=

Say hello to new White Sox CF Aaron Hicks.

*KIA Tigers

' src=

Angel fans have chosen to designated Arturo Moreno for assignment.

From the Rendon injury, young kids struggling, to Hicks being let go, anyone with more than 2 brain cells saw this coming. #selltheHalos

Young kids struggling? the Baby Angels are the ones keeping them somewhat competitive

I’m def rooting for the young Halos, but as of this writing, Schanuel is at .228 and Neto at .213. Yes there’s more than batting avg, esp Netos defense, but there’s a reason the minors leagues exist. They both need more experience.

And this isn’t even mentioning the young arm struggles on the mound.

These kids are rushed to MLB not because they’re ready, it’s because the organization is desperate.

Four outfielders is enough.

I was always optimistic that Adell had a chance to be good. Less optimistic with Moniak, however I strongly believed both players should be regulars for the first half of the year just to see what the Angels have.

With Hicks gone, maybe now that can become a reality.

About time!!!!”

' src=

I think the consensus among fans was this year is about playing the kids. Some thought Moniak would emerge, others Adell. But nobody wanted Hicks taking up playing time.

I’m really liking Adell right now. Moniak looks lost.

' src=

Moniak is insanely streaky. You don’t see too many players who go from world beater to below replacement level and back in a matter of weeks over the course of a season. Inconsistency is his calling card.

I don’t know anyone other than me thought Adell might emerge.

I don’t know anyone other than me who liked Adell’s chances more than Moniak’s.

Halo I posted on Twitter that my bold prediction for the Angels, was that Adell would be a 30 30 player this season. Moniak should only play to give someone the day off. Or as a late inning defensive replacement

' src=

I’m guilty! I’ve been saying trade Adell for a few years. My reasoning was that he wasn’t ready to help the team now so trade him for MLB ready pitching. He seems to have figure things out. Let’s see if he sustains it.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he went 30/30.

As far as Moniak, there are plenty of DH ABs available.

You could have traded him a few years ago, but once his value dropped, there was no point in trading him. The proverbial sell low situation.

Adell was playing great the month before he got injured last season. Many Angels fans know and expect him to be good behind the plate but lousy on defense. Nice plays against the Phillies though.

' src=

It’s always weird how a there are players that seem to bat very high like cleanup and then get released the next day

' src=

The proverbial rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic….

' src=

We will always have his Yankeeography

' src=

Now to release Rendon, Neto, Schanuel, Adele, Sano, Drury, Rengifo, Moniack, Thaiss, every starting pitcher and every relief pitcher on the roster, Ron Washington, every coach in the organization, Perry Menasian, and Arturo Moreno… Then, they might be able to put together a major league baseball team in a few years.

It’s entirely possible that Neto and Schanuel could benefit from some AAA ABs.

Schanuel yes,but what Neto provides defensively is fine.

Also Ward has a throwing arm like a wet noodle. He’s a DH.

What do expect from someone who thinks Pete Rose is innocent and someone with a preposterous handle.

Just ignore that guy. Don’t even reply to his posts

Made you reply, haha!

I put him on mute. He’s obviously a troll.

Not as laughable as Halo11Fan… Great handle. Was “I like the Angels” already taken? Noob

' src=

Losing your job to Cole Tucker is about as low as you can go.

' src=

Luckily for BAL he gave an eff for 4 months last year. Now he’s back to normal.

' src=

Hicks has no place on this team.

If we are playing the kids to see who might constitute a core for the future, he has no spot.

If we are playing to win, he has no spot.

' src=

Baltimore FO love affair with McKenna has got to stop. Heck, if you insist on not bringing up a young gun like Stowers as a 4th OF then at least jettison McKenna and bring back Hicks. Aaron was huge for the Birds in that role last year.

' src=

Nice to see the MFY’s payroll go back up a little 🙂

' src=

Kinda weird if they knew Trout was getting an injury checked out

' src=

Lost opportunity for GM pep talk:

Minasian: We got a problem, Aaron? Hicks: No, it’s okay. I know your routine. It’s patter, it’s for effect. But it’s for them, all right? That ain’t for me. Minasian : Oh, you’re special? Hicks : You’re paying me nine million bucks a year, man, so yeah, maybe I am, a little bit. Minasian: No, man, I ain’t paying nine. Yankees are paying your salary. That’s what the New York Yankees think of you. They’re paying you nine million dollars to play against them.

' src=

Billy Beane’s chat with David Justice.

' src=

LOLI just watched it for probably the 10th time the other night on Netflix.

“it’s incredibly hard” to take this seriously

' src=

“It’s Hudson Sir, he’s Hicks, how do I get out of this chicken chit outfit?” Aliens 1983

' src=

Thanks Cashman. One of your Greatest Hits.

' src=

Big shocker Hicks didn’t work out. When will Sano go? Low risk means low reward, not high. Year after year of rehab projects. I feel bad for Washington. Whitey Herzog and Billy Martin managed the mid 70s Rangers. And the Angels are that bad. I can’t believe I’m hearing about “breakout year” for Adell. For what getting picked off, misjudging catchable flyballs, boneheaded base running where he doesn’t see where the ball is at? Then extend him. And Moniak is who he is. There’s no more big upside. Same w Rengifo.

Sano has played a good third base and hits the ball hard. I think might be a good pair with Rendon and Schanuel.

He’s been decent but still only 1 HR and strikeouts a lot. .3 WAR. Whenever Minasian picks up these types of 1yr guys if they’re doing good for a while they usually have a big dropoff eventually.

Or get injured. And Sano already has a gimpy knee.

The Angels need someone who fills that utility 3rd/1st position. I prefer him to an Urshella type.

Lmao. Do you watch baseball at all?

' src=

Pretty bad when you get DFA’d for Cole Tucker

I could be wrong but I think his ERA is lower than Blake Snell’s this year.. I say since the Yankees are paying him anyway scoop him up send him to Tampa and see if he can learn to throw a decent cutter.

' src=

Moniak is the worst 1/1 draft pick

Not all that close to the worst.

' src=

“But he’s looked far worse since donning an Angels uniform.”

This would seem to an issue that only the greatest of recent players(Trout, Ohtani) can overcome. For the mere mortals that play MLB at a reasonable to replacement level, the threads of doom are just too powerful a force to be reckoned with…..

' src=

Brian Cashman, one World Series ring in 24 years. Paid $80 million for Hicks.

' src=

Javier Baez for…. Neto or O’Hoppe. This is a terrible team. Keeping Baez.

' src=

If it doesn’t work out Tucker still gets to go home to Vanessa Hudgens.

Unless she dumps him for being a nobody like Kim K did to that benchwarmer.

' src=

Why would any man do that to himself?

Sermon description.

In this message, Pastor John Lindell shares an encouraging sermon titled, "Angels on Assignment." Join us as we study God's Word and learn awe-inspiring truth about who angels are and how God uses them to impact our lives. Our prayer is that this message would remind you of the reality of the supernatural realm and God's desire to strengthen and encourage you!

Scripture Reference

Sermon notes.

Colossians 2:18-19 NIV Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

1st Angels worship God

Revelation 5:11 NLT Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders .

Revelation 4:6-11 NLT In the center and around the throne were four living beings , each covered with eyes, front and back. The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight. Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty— the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come." Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, "You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased."

Revelation 5:11-14 NLT Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders . And they sang in a mighty chorus: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing." And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: "Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever." And the four living beings said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb.

2nd Angels are warriors

Psalm 103:20-21 NLT Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will!

Revelation 12:7 NLT Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels.

Daniel 12:1 NLT "At that time Michael, the archangel who stands guard over your nation , will arise.

Daniel 10:13-14 MSG But I was waylaid by the angel-prince of the kingdom of Persia and was delayed for a good three weeks. But then Michael, one of the chief angel-princes, intervened to help me. I left him there with the prince of the kingdom of Persia.

Daniel 10:20 MSG "He said, 'Do you know why I've come here to you? I now have to go back to fight against the angel-prince of Persia , and when I get him out of the way, the angel-prince of Greece will arrive.

Judges 5:20 ESV From heaven the stars fought , from their courses they fought against Sisera.

3rd Angels protect us

Psalm 91:11-12a NLT For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands...

2 Kings 6:15-17 NLT When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. "Oh, sir, what will we do now?" the young man cried to Elisha. "Don't be afraid!" Elisha told him. "For there are more on our side than on theirs!" Then Elisha prayed, "O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!" The Lord opened the young man's eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

Matthew 18:10 NIV "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

4th Angels observe us

1 Peter 1:12 NIV It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Ephesians 3:10 NIV His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,

Daniel 10:11a NIV He said, "Daniel, you who are highly esteemed ...

Daniel 4:13 ESV “I saw in the visions of my head as I lay in bed, and behold, a watcher, a holy one, came down from heaven.

Daniel 4:17a ESV The sentence is by the decree of the watchers…

Daniel 4:23a ESV And because the king saw a watcher,

1 Corinthians 4:9 NLT Instead, I sometimes think God has put us apostles on display, like prisoners of war at the end of a victor's parade, condemned to die. We have become a spectacle to the entire world—to people and angels alike.

1 Corinthians 11:10a NLT For this reason, and because the angels are watching ...

5th Angels give us directions from God

Acts 5:19-21 NLT But an angel of the Lord came at night , opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, "Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!" So at daybreak the apostles entered the Temple, as they were told, and immediately began teaching...

Acts 8:26 NLT As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him , "Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza."

6th Angels deliver God’s people

Acts 12:5-9 NLT But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him. The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate. Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, "Quick! Get up!" And the chains fell off his wrists. Then the angel told him, "Get dressed and put on your sandals." And he did. "Now put on your coat and follow me," the angel ordered. So Peter left the cell, following the angel .

7th Angels take us to heaven when we die

Luke 16:22-23 NIV "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side . The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

Matthew 24:31 NIV And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Jude 9 NIV But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

8th Angels are agents of divine judgement

Acts 12:21-23 NIV On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man." Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down , and he was eaten by worms and died.

Matthew 13:49-50 NIV This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace , where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Revelation 16:8 ESV The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire.

9th Angels bring messages from God

Daniel 8:15-16 NLT As I, Daniel, was trying to understand the meaning of this vision, someone who looked like a man stood in front of me. And I heard a human voice calling out from the Ulai River, "Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of his vision."

Acts 27:23-25 NIV Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me and said , 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.' So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.

10th Angels strengthen us

Luke 22:43 NIV An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.

Daniel 10:17-18 NIV How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe." Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength.

11th Angels appear to us without us knowing it

Hebrews 13:2 NLT Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

Hebrews 2:14 NLT Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

ANAHEIM —  Monday marked a milestone of sorts in the Angels’ season.

For the first time this season, the Angels made a roster move that reflected performance, rather than being forced by an injury.

The Angels designated Aaron Hicks for assignment, replacing the veteran outfielder him with utility man Cole Tucker. Hicks was 8 for 57 (.140) and had not played much since Jo Adell took over as the everyday right fielder.

“We just thought we needed to start making some changes,” Manager Ron Washington said. “I love Aaron Hicks and appreciate what he did for the time he was here, but the only thing I can say about that is it was time to move on.”

Washington also suggested that the other players should understand that poor performances won’t be tolerated.

“We’re not trying to give a message to anyone that if you don’t do this, and if you don’t do that, you won’t be here,” Washington said. “But if they don’t do this, and they don’t do that, then they won’t be here.”

Tucker, 27, is back in the majors, after spending parts of the previous four years in the big leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies. He was with the Seattle Mariners in spring training, but he asked for his release when they said they didn’t have a spot for him.

Tucker said the Mariners first asked him if he’d be interested in coaching.

“A little premature, but really flattered by it,” Tucker said. “I feel like there’s more for me as a player.”

Tucker was at home for a couple of weeks waiting for a job, and then he signed a minor-league deal with the Angels. He began playing at Triple-A Salt Lake on April 16. He was hitting .313 with a .908 OPS with Salt Lake.

Tucker is a switch hitter who can play every position on the field besides catcher.

Washington said the Angels could use Tucker’s “versatility,” especially while they are playing without infielder Miguel Sanó.

Sanó is out with a sore left knee. He was able to take batting practice on Monday, but Washington said he’s not ready to “push him out there right now.” Sanó is available to pinch-hit, Washington said.

ANOTHER LINEUP SHUFFLE

When Zach Neto got hot last week, Washington moved him from the No. 9 spot to the No. 2 spot. Neto then went hitless in eight at-bats, so Washington put him back at the bottom of the lineup, instead moving Jo Adell up to No. 2.

Washington said Neto seemed to be “trying to do too much” after he was moved up, so Washington implored Adell not to do the same.

“I’m hoping that by moving him up to second, that he doesn’t change anything in the way he’s swinging the bat,” Washington said.

Adell was hitting .327 with a .974 OPS heading into Monday’s game.

“I’m searching for how I can put something together where we can score some runs,” Washington said. “It might backfire, but I gotta try something.”

The Angels optioned right-hander Zac Kristofak and recalled right-hander Davis Daniel to provide more coverage for the bullpen. Kristofak pitched two innings in his major league debut on Sunday. …

Right-hander Chase Silseth (elbow inflammation) played catch for the third time in the last four days. …

Right-hander Guillo Zuñiga (pectoral strain) has increased his long toss out to 105 feet. …

Right-hander Sam Bachman (shoulder surgery) resumed throwing after a brief shutdown because of back spasms. Bachman had been expected to begin a rehab assignment around the start of May, but that will obviously be delayed now. …

Infielder Michael Stefanic (quadriceps strain) has been running and taking ground balls in Arizona. There is no timetable for Stefanic’s return.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Aaron Hicks was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Angels on Monday after batting .140 in 18 games.

Hicks was 8 for 57 with the Angels and had only one hit in his last 19 at-bats.

“We just thought we needed to start making some changes,” manager Ron Washington said before Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies. “I love Aaron Hicks and I appreciate what he did during the time he was here, but it was time to move on.”

Hicks signed a one-year deal with the Angels in late January. He started only two of the last six games after Jo Adell took over as the starting right fielder.

The 34-year-old Hicks spent last season with the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles. He joined the Orioles last May after he was released by the Yankees, where he spent parts of eight seasons.

Hicks appeared to revive his career with Baltimore, batting .275 in 65 games for the AL East champions.

The Angels have lost five straight and are 3-9 at home.

“We’re not trying to give a message to anyone that if you don’t do this and if you don’t do that, you won’t be here. But if they don’t do this and they don’t do that, then they won’t,” said Washington, who is in his first season leading the Angels and celebrated his 72nd birthday on Monday.

Angels News: Mike Trout to Undergo Knee Surgery, Will Be Out Indefinitely

  • Author: Noah Camras

In this story:

Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout will be out indefinitely. The former three-time American League Most Valuable Player has suffered a knee injury, and will have to undergo surgery, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez and Jeff Passan.

NEWS: Mike Trout needs surgery on his knee, sources tell me and @JeffPassan . The extent is not known, but a source said it is not expected to be season-ending. Story shortly on ESPN. — Alden González (@Alden_Gonzalez) April 30, 2024

The injury is a torn meniscus, according to Angels general manager Perry Minasian. There is no timetable for a return at this stage.

This is an enormous blow to not only Trout but the Angels. Trout was finally looking healthy this season, and put together an incredible first month of the season.

However, his injury issues have caught up to him yet again, as the 32-year-old will undergo another major procedure.

Trout has appeared in 29 games for the Angels this season, and was slashing .220/.325/.541 with 10 home runs and 14 runs batted in. He was one of the few bright spots for the 11-18 Angels, but will now be sidelined for what will likely be a significant amount of time.

Trout hasn't played a full season since 2020, which was shortened due to the pandemic. In 2021, Trout played in just 36 games due to right calf strain. In 2022, Trout missed over 40 games due to a back issue. And in 2023, Trout played in just 82 games due to a left hamate fracture.

Now, it's another issue for Trout, and another one for the Angels, who just designated veteran outfielder Aaron Hicks for assignment on Monday.

In the meantime, expect Jo Adell to slide into an everyday outfielder role alongside Taylor Ward, with Mickey Moniak and the recently called-up Cole Tucker filling in, too.

Aaron Hicks’ post-Yankees resurgence derailed as Angels give up on struggling outfielder

Aaron Hicks returned to his Yankees form and that didn’t work for the Angels.

Hicks, 34, was designated for assignment by Los Angeles on Monday after batting .140 in 18 games. The outfielder was 8 for 57 with the Angels and had only one hit in his last 19 at-bats.

“We just thought we needed to start making some changes,” manager Ron Washington said before Monday night’s 6-5 win against the Philadelphia Phillies. “I love Aaron Hicks and I appreciate what he did during the time he was here, but it was time to move on.”

The Yankees released Hicks in May 2023 after playing in 28 games last season, hitting .188 with a .524 OPS.

The Yankees still owed Hicks $30 million but he was in his third straight season of sub-par play in The Bronx.

Hicks then signed with the rival Orioles and was a different player — hitting .275 with seven homers and 31 RBIs over 65 games as he helped Baltimore win the AL East.

But his struggles returned in 2024 after he signed a one-year deal with the Angels in late January.

He started only two of the last six games after Jo Adell took over as the starting right fielder.

The Angels, who broke a five-game losing streak on Monday night, called up Cole Tucker to take Hicks’ spot on the roster.

Tucker went for 1-for-3 in his Angels debut on Monday, driving in the tying run with a single in the seventh inning.

“We’re not trying to give a message to anyone that if you don’t do this and if you don’t do that, you won’t be here. But if they don’t do this and they don’t do that, then they won’t,” said Washington, who is in his first season leading the Angels and celebrated his 72nd birthday on Monday.

The Los Angeles Angels have designated Aaron Hicks for assignment.

Before Monday’s game, the Los Angeles Angels announced that they designated outfielder Aaron Hicks for assignment and optioned pitcher Zac Kristofak to Triple-A. Additionally, the team recalled pitcher Davis Daniel and selected the contract of infielder Cole Tucker .

#Angels Transactions: •Recalled RHP Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake •Selected the contract of INF Cole Tucker •Designated OF Aaron Hicks for assignment •Following last night’s game, RHP Zac Kristofak was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake — Angels PR (@LAAngelsPR) April 29, 2024

Los Angeles enters Monday eight games below .500, but the impact of new manager Ron Washington has been evident. Monday’s roster moves are no different, as the Halos moved on from one of their few free-agent signings after around just a month into the season.

Los Angeles Angels Designate Aaron Hicks For Assignment

The Angels signed Hicks to a one-year deal in late January as veteran outfield depth. Since most of his $9.5 million salary will be paid by the New York Yankees, the Angels owe Hick only a prorated portion of the $740K league minimum salary for his time spent on the roster.

While the Angels won’t pay Hicks a lot, it likely is too much for what he produced. In 63 plate appearances, the 34-year-old hit .140/.222/.193 with just one homer. Per OPS+, his offense was 80 percent worse than the league average.

Hicks has struggled for multiple years at this point but played well in 65 games with the Baltimore Orioles late last year. In a limited role, he produced an OPS of .806 (127 OPS+) and seemed to thrive away from the bright lights of New York. The Angels hoped that the trend would continue in his hometown, but Hicks looked lost at the plate.

With Mike Trout healthy again and Jo Adell breaking out with the bat , Washington is clearly setting a culture where production matters more than pedigree or contract.

Cole Tucker

The Halos signed Tucker, a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates, in mid-April to a minor league deal. Unfortunately, the former top prospect has struggled mightily in the majors between the Pirates and Colorado Rockies. He is a career .216 hitter (57 OPS+) with five homers and poor defensive metrics.

Cole Tucker said the Mariners offered him a coaching position after sending him down this spring. He declined that, wanting to keep playing. Said he got the call from the Angels a few weeks later. He said he’s DHing tonight. — Sam Blum (@SamBlum3) April 29, 2024

That said, he hit well in the minors this year and the Angels can afford to give him a shot. In 36 Triple-A at-bats, Cole hit .313 with a .908 OPS. Though he came up as a shortstop, Cole has some experience playing all over the infield and some in the outfield. He will likely play a utility role in Anaheim but will be DH during his Angels debut on Monday.

Davis Daniel and Zac Kristofak

Daniel pitched well in 12 1/3 innings across three games last year for the Angels. Though he has an ERA above six in five Triple-A starts this year, Daniel has shown good strikeout and the ability to walk. The 26-year-old will likely pitch out of the bullpen for the Angels and serve as pitching depth with minor league options.

The Angels are calling up Zac Kristofak today, per @ByRobertMurray . I hope all Angels fans take some time to read his story today — to truly understand what this big league call-up means. Congrats to Zac and those that have supported him. https://t.co/I0e8ItIlqR — Sam Blum (@SamBlum3) April 28, 2024

There are no moral victories in the cutthroat baseball industry, but Kristofak might be one of the better stories in the league. The Angels called him up on Sunday, and he made his debut by tossing two shutout innings against the Minnesota Twins. While the team demoted him one day later, the Angels will likely recall him at some point this season.

José Abreu demoted: Astros option former AL MVP to Florida Complex League following dreadful April

Abreu had to consent to the assignment due to his service time.

abreu-usatsi.png

The Houston Astros will option veteran first baseman José Abreu to their Florida Complex League team in West Palm Beach, general manager Dana Brown announced Tuesday. Abreu, by virtue of having more than five years of Major League Service, had the power to reject any optional assignment. Instead, he consented so that he could work on his timing in a low-stakes environment.

"We met with José on this, and we both agree that this move will be good for him and for the team in the long run," Brown said in a statement. "We are confident that a change of scenery and a new environment will help him get his rhythm and timing back. José is a team-first guy, and we applaud him for this. We know what this guy can do, and we're confident in his determination and work ethic."

While sending players from the big-league roster to the complex league is rare, it does happen on occasion when the player is clearly in need of an overhaul and/or some time away from the spotlight. Just last season, the Toronto Blue Jays sent right-hander Alek Manoah to the complex league in an attempted reset .

The Astros will not demote Abreu until tomorrow. As such, they'll play with a 25-man squad against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night. Houston did make a few other roster moves ahead of Tuesday's contest, placing utility infielder Grae Kessinger on the injured list because of right shoulder discomfort, designating reliever Joel Kuhnel for assignment, and promoting Joey Loperfido for his big-league debut. (Loperfido posted a 1.106 OPS in 25 games at Triple-A Sugar Land.)

Abreu, 37, is off to a miserable start to the season. In 22 games, he's batted .099/.156/.113 (-20 OPS+) with no home runs, three RBI, and 15 more strikeouts than walks. Per FanGraphs' wRC+ measure, a statistic that accounts for ballpark and other variables, Abreu had been the least productive hitter in all the majors this season, minimum 50 trips to the plate.

Between 1901 and 2023, only two players hit below .100 in April (minimum 75 plate appearances): Don Baylor in 1981 and Greg Vaughn in 2002.

Abreu, in the second of a three-year pact worth more than $58 million, is sporting would-be career-worst figures in several advanced metrics, including average and maximum exit velocity and strikeout and walk rates.

Astros first-year skipper Joe Espada had responded to Abreu's struggles by mixing in more Jon Singleton. Alas, Singleton himself had struggled to perform up to par for a first baseman, batting .238/.319/.286 (79 OPS+) with two extra-base hits in 16 games.

The Astros are off to a dreadful start, entering play on Tuesday with a 9-19 mark that puts them 6 1/2 games back in the American League West.
