It all started with the FBI charging me with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, trafficking cocaine, gun charges, aiding and abetting...
October 12, 1993 (Sounds weird to say it was over 30 years ago doesn't it?)...
I was just getting ready to head to Tennessee State University to take my mid-term exam (yes, I was in my senior year at TSU)...
When my beeper went off 6 times with code "911"in class...
Which was weird because, my sister was the person beeping me 911 and she did not ever sell drugs.
So I just got up out of my seat and turned my exam into the teacher, I called my sister and she said the scariest thing I'd EVER heard in my life.
She said a police helicopter and numerous police where surrounding a burgundy car tag from Miami Florida with my driver in it.
Men wearing full SWAT gear , with mask on were pointing guns at the car...
Screaming at the driver to get out the car with your hands up in the air.
I was the lead target in the investigation called " Operation Coke Dreams " --they always come up with the best names, don't they?
It wasn't funny then, but now I laugh when you think that there was an FBI office somewhere in Nashville with one of those big investigation boards with all the photos and notes and strings...
And who's at the top, in the spot reserved for the big "kingpin" godfather?
So, what brought Operation Coke Dream into my college life that day...
...with cops  and helicopters chasing a car from Miami Florida (while I was in class taking my mid-term exam)?
It wasn't weed...or pills or anything like that...
It was cocaine. (Kilos of cocaine)
You see, I thought I was real smart at the time, I thought I could get other people to sell the drugs for me and I never get my hands dirty.
I did not know about the law "Conspiracy", I thought you had to get caught with drugs in order to go to prison.
I knew what I was doing was totally wrong.
Like they say... "Play stupid games, and win stupid prizes."
My life changed over night.
1993 my world came crashing down.
I went from being a young multi millionaire with the finest cars and women to losing everything...
The next few years were a living hell...
By the beginning of 1995 I was broke and trying to defend myself with a public defender...
My co-defendent (the driver who got caught with the load of cocaine, was out on bond and he got caught again with cocaine).
Eventually , I pled guilty to a lesser charge to avoid the government fully prosecuting my sister (who was 100% innocent in this whole thing)...
By March of 1995 I started serving my prison sentence at Lewisburg Correctional Facility in Pennsylvania...
But before I did that, I promised my mom that I would never hurt or disappoint her again.
See, I was brought up in the church, my mom worked from sun up to sun down, but we never had any money.
I thought that selling drugs was a way out of poverty, but I soon found out that it was a dead end that lead to death or prison.
So I gave it up for good.
I was a self surrender, meaning I voluntarily surrendered to the prison for my sentence. I flew from Nashville to Harrisburg Pennsylvania, slept on the airport floor, the next morning I caught a bus to Lewisburg Pennsylvania to begin my sentence.
The weird thing about federal prison, (white collar prison, like I was in at least), is that it's actually not that bad...
The real punishment is having to be away from your family. That part is torture...
But during my actual stay at Lewisburg Federal Prison...
I almost killed my mom who was a school teacher and my step dad who was the most prominent black pastor (Dr. Rev. Enoch Jones) in Nashville. They named a street after him.
Because of the embarrassment, disappointment, shame, hurt and STRESS I caused my parents...
My dad had a near deadly stroke that left him in diapers and fighting for his life.
My mom had a terrible nervous breakdown from me and my sister having to withdraw from our senior year at Tennessee State University and go to prison, while she took care of (Whitney) my sisters 3 year old daughter.
I cried every night in prison, with my face buried in my pillow.
All the while, I kept feeling worse and worse...Feeling like I did not want to live.
Of course, I blamed myself for all the pain I caused my family (it was really terrible)...
And the stress of being away from my mom.
So, I kept my faith in God, read my Bible and focused on staying busy to try to make the time go faster.
The best thing that helped my time and ease my mind in prison was CUTTING HAIR.
Before I knew it, my time was up, and I was released with a one way 28 hour Grey Hound bus ticket from Lewisburg to Nashville...
I had no money, no job, no drivers license, bad credit and no credit.
No matter what I tried, no company would hire me because of my felony record.
I kept filling out job applications, I even enrolled back in college to finish my last 42 hours.
No one would hire me and the FEDS were going to send me back to prison to finish my sentence, because I couldn't find a job...
Three days before they were gong to send me back to prison, I got a job cutting hair in a shop...
Working in the shop was not going to help achieve my desires and help take care of my family.
So, I started doing all the reading and research I could about opening a school.
In 1998 a friend told me about Mrs. Velma and here "School Blueprint Program" ...
Mrs. Velma Demonbreun had helped a few thousand people open schools all over the United States, become accredited and receive millions of dollars.

Accountants told me that I needed at least 6 months of savings in the bank for a "rainy day fund", I had a few dollars in my school bank account when I opened, "just enough to keep my account from closing".
I had a " GOD Day Fund ", God had my back, I just put my trust in him.
My school was cheaper to open and operate than my barbershop. I was the janitor, theory instructor, practical floor instructor, admissions rep, book keeper, director- heck I was Mr. EVERYTHING... Â
I had a small clinic floor, small classroom, small office, small restroom, small waiting area and I made a closet into my small breakroom.
Everyone in Nashville laughed at me and told me I was crazy for joining Mrs. Velma's School Blueprint Program...
The most amazing thing happened!
Not only did all of my clients follow me to the school and I started enrolling students that made cash down payments and monthly cash payments.
I started feeling influence and status ALL OVER.

MOSCOW â Who advertises their wares as the most expensive in the world? People who are selling to the Russians.
For Russia's oil barons, captains of industry and others for whom the origins of their wealth is less clear, 250 vendors of private islands, jets and yachts set up booths over the weekend at the second-annual Millionaire Fair in Moscow.
Michael Morren, a dapper Swiss executive in a pinstriped suit, sells high- end cellphones for the GoldVish brand of Geneva. For those more familiar with Nokia or Motorola, GoldVish cellphones sell for $18,000 to $150,000.
In Moscow, that is not good enough. Morren was selling a diamond-studded cellphone for $1.27 million.
Just in case the glitter of 120 carats of diamonds encasing the phone, made of white gold, did not draw customers, Morren hired a blonde model to hold a plaque declaring: "Certificate of the most expensive mobile phone."
"Somebody is wearing a nice watch and nice jewelry," Morren, the president GoldVish, said, referring to wealthy Russians who now wear plenty of diamonds and gold. "And then the phone rings. It doesn't match. It's a piece of plastic. We make it match."
