Fip announces theme for world pharmacists day, record learning outcomes.

“Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” is the theme of World Pharmacists Day on September 25 this year, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has announced. The World Pharmacists Day campaign is led by FIP every year and provides an opportunity to promote the pharmacy profession. This year the campaign’s aims are to showcase pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world and to further strengthen solidarity among the profession. “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 3 sets out a number of health targets, including for non-communicable diseases ... and communicable diseases. We have seen improvements in many of these areas and our profession should be proud of and make known its contributions,” said FIP president Mr Dominique Jordan. However, he added that “the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered progress and it is imperative that we rally to build back better”. FIP is encouraging all sectors of the profession to use World Pharmacists Day and World Pharmacy Week (which will run from September 19-25) to share how their actions have resulted in better health, communicating the value of pharmacy. “The core duty of every pharmacist is to apply the full measure of their knowledge and abilities to support health and wellbeing. I invite all colleagues to take part in the campaign this year and show the world how our profession is united for health, regardless of and overcoming conflict, different politics and cultures, and economic disparity,” Mr Jordan said.

World Pharmacists Day 2022 : “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world”

Nabin Bista

“Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” is the theme of World Pharmacists Day on 25 September 2022.

This year’s theme aims to showcase pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world and to further strengthen solidarity among the profession.

We invite colleagues from all sectors of the pharmacy profession to take part in the campaign and show the world how we are united for health, regardless of and overcoming conflict, different politics and cultures, and economic disparity.

“The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 3 sets out a number of health targets, including for non-communicable diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and mental health) and communicable diseases (for example, HIV, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases). We have seen improvements in many of these areas and our profession should be proud of and make known its contributions. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered progress and it is imperative that we rally to build back better,” said FIP president Mr Dominique Jordan.

The World Pharmacists Day campaign is led by FIP every year and provides an opportunity to promote the pharmacy profession. The theme is chosen by the FIP Bureau. We kindly request that organisations and individuals use FIP’s official campaign materials or that FIP is acknowledged in any alternative World Pharmacists Day materials or events developed.

Pharmacy United In Action For A Healthier World

Press release.

pharmacy united in action for a healthier world essay writing

Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs. Gracia Wheatley-Smith said the day is being used to recognise pharmacists for their role in providing optimum pharmacy care to ensure the best possible health outcomes.

“We want to celebrate and acknowledge our hard working pharmacist who have been dedicated to the people of this Territory over the years.  Especially during the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria and more recently with the pandemic making sure people had accesses to life saving medications,” Mrs. Wheatley-Smith said.

The Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services is encouraging persons to build a relationship with their pharmacist and the take the time out to speak with them regarding their medication, usage and possible side effects.  She also recommends as much as possible for persons to fill their prescription in one location which enables that pharmacy to have their records and history and be able to better flag possible drug interactions.

“ Remember medicines are foreign entities that you take into your bodies, therefore anything can happen, they react with food, drink, other medications even the sunlight.  Love your pharmacist and build a relationship with your pharmacist,” Mrs. Wheatley-Smith concluded.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is committed to ensuring that all aspects of the environment with the potential to negatively impact the health of the population are managed efficiently to enable all persons in the BVI to attain and maintain optimal health and well-being.

World Pharmacists Day (WPD), led by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), provides an opportunity to promote the pharmacy profession. This year’s event, which takes place this year on 25 September, focuses on uniting the efforts of pharmacy for a healthier world. WPD presents an opportunity for WPC member organisations to join with all other sectors of the pharmacy profession, and take part in this influential campaign demonstrating the unity of the pharmacy profession for health.

Central to the mission of the WPC is the promotion of community pharmacy worldwide as an important and integral part of health systems. Our member organisations can be proud of what they have achieved together to expand the role of community pharmacy in the interest of patients’ health and wellbeing, including vaccination services, screening programmes and testing services. We continue to advocate for the achievement of full scope of practice in community pharmacy, and strongly believe in the positive impact of community pharmacy on health of citizens worldwide.

The WPC therefore invites its member organisations to support the campaign, and in doing so, to demonstrate to all stakeholders and citizens how we as community pharmacists are united for health.

“ World Pharmacists Day is an opportunity for all WPC member organisations to advocate for community pharmacy.  We encourage you and your members to get actively involved in the event, by using the official promotional material in your pharmacy premises and on social media ”, according to WPC President Douglas Hoey.  “Become a WPC Champion by clicking here to add your word of support to the campaign”.

Pharmacy’s role in a modern health continuum

Introduction.

Developing a health care system that puts people at the center of their own care and uses all available resources as effectively as possible has become a consistent goal of most governments. Achieving this goal requires different health professionals to work in collaboration with each other to meet the health needs of patients. In order for that to happen, governments must work with all key professional groups to use all available resources of the system most effectively and, importantly, pharmacists must be recognized as the professional that coordinates drug therapy management. In addition, governments must put in place policies and a regulatory and funding environment that facilitates team-based care and acknowledges and supports the professional competencies of all health professions. These basic points were made in a White Paper prepared for the Alberta Minister of Health. This article, derived from that paper, was prepared to help pharmacists and other pharmacy organizations understand the critical steps needed for individuals and the health system to fully experience and benefit from pharmacists’ skills and services.

Progress has been made

Much has already been achieved by pharmacy and governments working together to optimize system outcomes through improved coordination of drug therapies and the use of care plans to support patient outcomes. There have also been advances in regulation, education and training, testing of new models of care and participation in interprofessional initiatives and in electronic health systems. For example, in 2007, legislation was enacted in Alberta that provided pharmacists with a new scope of practice and entitled them to adapt prescriptions initiated by other prescribers and initiate drug therapy in an emergency. In addition, pharmacists who meet specific requirements can administer drugs by injection, order laboratory tests and can be granted additional independent prescribing privileges. Similar changes are taking place in other jurisdictions around the world. Technician regulation is another example that has fostered an optimization of the pharmacists’ role in direct patient care, as technicians assume greater responsibility for distribution activities.

Despite legislative changes, more is required for the system and patients to benefit fully. Pharmacy education continues to evolve to better prepare pharmacists for their roles and responsibilities in an increasingly complex health care environment with advanced patient health needs. Another important factor is the pharmacists themselves. Rosenthal et al. 1 reported in 2010 on the reluctance of pharmacists to take on additional responsibilities, concluding that pharmacist personality traits, including a lack of confidence, fear of new responsibilities, paralysis in the face of ambiguity, need for approval and risk aversion, are at least in part responsible. However, the significant increase in uptake of new responsibilities in Alberta over the past year indicates that a tipping point may have been reached. Overall, the ability of pharmacists to improve patient care and decrease costs has been tested and proven many times. 2 , 3 The future of pharmacy practice clearly lies in the value of the clinical decisions made by pharmacists with each patient encounter.

Pharmacists—The experts in drug therapy management

All people who take medications are at risk of actual or potential drug therapy problems. These problems are a significant source of morbidity and mortality when left undetected and unresolved and drive huge costs across the health system. As drug therapy experts, pharmacists provide drug therapy management services built around a partnership between the pharmacist, the patient (or his or her caregiver), physicians and other members of a patient’s health care team. The goals of these services are to identify and resolve actual or potential drug therapy problems for patients and to promote the safe and effective use of medications and enable patients to achieve positive, targeted therapy outcomes. The medication management framework includes the following:

Assessment: The pharmacist assesses each patient through observation, dialogue and consideration of clinical indicators. Treatment alternatives are assessed for appropriateness, effectiveness and safety (including interactions), to prevent and resolve medication-related problems.

Care plans: The pharmacist creates a plan in consultation with the patient and, when necessary, other members of the health care team. The care plan includes goals and actions to achieve the patient’s personal health goals through optimal drug therapy. Actions include patient and/or caregiver education about chronic disease, writing a prescription to continue care, initiating new treatment and disease prevention such as immunization and lifestyle modification programs. Care plans also include medication support systems such as compliance packaging and medication reminders.

Monitoring compliance and evaluating effectiveness: The pharmacist monitors the patient’s compliance with and response to drug therapy through regular follow-ups. These allow for progress evaluation and support and early detection of adverse effects, drug misuse or abuse.

Pharmacists must be part of person-centred care

Key barriers must be overcome to shift from a mind-set of “Getting the Right Drug to Each Patient” to “Getting the Drug Therapy Right for Each Patient” and to reap the benefits of fully integrating a pharmacist into a person’s health care team. These barriers include the following:

Governance models: It has been reported that 70% of hospital beds are occupied by people with chronic illnesses. 4 Pharmacists are repeatedly asked to cooperate in care delivery and are doing so on many fronts. But the inclusion of pharmacists in governance models for care delivery has been limited. Similarly, at a local level, community pharmacists need to be more involved in primary care teams.

Information management systems: Improved information management systems that support both drug therapy management and drug dispensing are needed. The lack of such systems impedes the coordination of care, informed decision making and workflow, contributing to less than optimal care and increased cost.

Funding: Funding entities and pharmacists must work together to develop an economic model for pharmacy that supports the behaviours and outcomes that the health system needs and wants. The right balance needs to be achieved as the focus shifts from drug dispensing-related incentives to payment for drug therapy management in various settings and models of care. An acceptable economic model must address the principles of patient-focused, team-based care and integrate pharmacists and other health professionals across a sustainable health system. Overall, funding should follow the patient, not the provider, so that financial and other incentives are to optimize care.

Pharmacists are uniquely positioned to coordinate system-wide drug management

Many patients interact with the health system at multiple points. Medication therapy may be started, altered or adjusted at any point along this continuum of care by multiple providers. But pharmacists are the health professionals with the best potential to effectively coordinate medication across the continuum. In particular, community-based pharmacists are accessible and uniquely positioned to support a continuum of primary care, the challenges of living with chronic disease, assisting people to remain in their homes as they age and assisting people living with mental illness or chronic diseases.

Pharmacists are some of the most easily accessible members of a person’s health care team. Better coordination of this accessibility can help ensure that patients get the treatments they need, when and where they need them. In addition, better coordination and monitoring improves care, reduces duplication of services, decreases emergency room visits and hospital admissions, helps prevent abuse/misuse of medications and reduces the risk of drug therapy problems. All of these outcomes will save the system money.

It is estimated that 12% of emergency department visits are due to drug-related adverse events. 5 In addition, the probability of admission to a hospital is significantly higher among patients who had a drug-related visit. 4 Pharmacists are the health care team member with the most complete drug therapy knowledge, and they are prepared to use that information and act as the key coordinator of drug therapies. This is particularly useful with complex patients who have multiple prescribers and more than one condition requiring treatment. It is also notable that pharmacists see a significant number of patients more often than other members of the health team. Changes in conditions can thus be detected sooner, including instances where patients would benefit from better adherence to their treatment plan. This can be particularly beneficial if quickly flagged and shared with the health care team.

Actions to accelerate system-wide drug therapy management

Some advances have been made to better enable pharmacists to contribute to patient care, but more is needed to optimize the potential of these changes. We recommend the following practical and achievable actions:

  • Governments recognize pharmacists as the health system’s drug management experts
  • Health systems support the role of pharmacists as coordinators of drug therapy management in all settings within and across care delivery models
  • Pharmacists are included in the governance and delivery of team-based, interdisciplinary models of care
  • Integrated information management systems are implemented that enable pharmacists to coordinate and manage drug therapies in cooperation with other health professionals
  • A balanced funding model be developed for pharmacy services, to support coordinated person-focused care by aligning clinical practices with desired patient and health system outcomes

Conclusions

In most countries, existing health care systems do not optimize the practices of all health professionals and cost an increasing amount without comparable increases in quality and accessibility. Numerous proposals have been made on how to address these shortcomings. We suggest that by taking actions to better integrate pharmacists into the health care system, government priorities of person-centred care, continuing care, mental health and chronic disease management will gain significant traction. Specifically, there will be improvements in access and quality through accelerating the development of innovative team-based models of care, enhancing the coordination of drug therapy management across the health system and recognizing and promoting opportunities to access the health system through community-based pharmacists. Sustainability will be improved by containing system-level costs as a result of better-coordinated drug therapy, leading to decreased redundancy and better patient outcomes. ■

World Pharmacists Day 2022: Pharmacists advise the right way a medicine must be used and stored

World Pharmacists Day is celebrated annually on September 25 to recognise the contribution of pharmacists to global health. A pharmacist is a healthcare professional who is responsible for storing, handling, and dispensing medicines. Like doctors, pharmacists also have a major role to play in the healthcare sector. To honour their work, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) marked September 25 as World Pharmacists Day.

World Pharmacists Day was first proposed by the International Pharmaceutical Federation, a global non-governmental body that represents pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy, and pharmaceutical education. The FIP council designated September 25 as World Pharmacists Day in 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Why Pharmacy Students Should Master Their Writing Skills

Pharmacy students are taught the importance of communication skills throughout their education.

Pharmacy students are taught the importance of communication skills throughout their education. When students are visualizing a career as a pharmacist, it’s easy to understand why communication matters: Whether pharmacists are counseling patients in a retail pharmacy, working with other health care providers in a hospital, or presenting a business plan in a corporate setting, it’s important that they effectively share messaging with others.

But there’s another form of communication that’s just as important for pharmacy students to master: writing. While writing may be less popular than math and science among those who often pursue pharmacy careers, it is an essential skill for success in any field of pharmacy. It is crucial that pharmacy schools focus on the development of writing skills when cultivating future pharmacists.

An Essential Practice

College students in any field of study often have assignment grievances along the lines of “I’m never going to need to know this in real life” or “I’ll never actually do this in my career.” Pharmacy students may share these sentiments about writing assignments. This is a huge misjudgment, and such thinking could be detrimental to professional success. According to The Pharmacy Student Survival Guide, Third Edition , “writing is the vehicle that drives pharmacy practice, regardless of practice type or setting.” 1 The book goes on to list 3 reasons why writing is essential in the practice of pharmacy.

First, writing is often the catalyst for action in health care. 1 Pharmacists are frequently identified and reimbursed for activities initiated by written documents; such activities include updating patient records, communicating with insurers, and answering drug information questions. Second, writing provides much stronger legal standing than verbal communication. 1 Quality written records can ensure long-term success for pharmacists, especially when it comes to compliance and liability issues. Third, writing is increasingly important as new technologies continue to emerge in health care. 1 With health care communication existing largely in electronic medical records and through digital platforms, it is essential that pharmacists write clearly and effectively.

Works by Pharmacists

What types of documents are pharmacists writing? In the article “Improving and Assessing Writing Skills and Practices of Pharmacy Students,” Suleiman I. Sharif and Rana Ibrahim suggest a variety of such documents. “Pharmacists have many duties that include writing, such as writing annual reports assessments, letters to editors in journals, letters of recommendations, articles to be published, or proposals for new clinical services,” they explain. 2

Additional examples include care plans, progress notes, treatment guidelines, pharmacy and therapeutics formulary reviews, drug information reviews, newsletters, patient education handouts, and pharmacy legislation reviews. When students consider such examples, they quickly realize that good writing skills are an essential job function for any pharmacist, in any area of practice.

Benefits Beyond Writing

Pharmacists who exhibit exemplary writing skills benefit in other ways. Developing writing skills improves critical thinking, another key skill for pharmacists in any role. The process of writing lets students evaluate information from a variety of sources to produce tangible evidence of their knowledge, as well as to refine ideas, prioritize information, understand opposing viewpoints, and explain complex topics. By honing their writing skills, pharmacy students develop a host of secondary skills required for their practice.

Additionally, professionals in any field are often evaluated through written contributions and publications, and pharmacy is no exception. Writing and publishing allow pharmacists to share their newly discovered insights and details on professional advancements with their peers.

Lastly, when pharmacists have strong writing skills, patients benefit. Many of the documents by pharmacists listed above are direct pieces of patient care. Consequently, good writing contributes directly to positive patient outcomes, the ultimate goal of any health care professional.

With these benefits in mind, it’s easy to understand why writing is so important for pharmacy students. Pharmacy schools aiming to prepare future pharmacists for practice should focus on developing not only verbal communication skills but written ones as well.

google news

World Pharmacists Day is celebrated every year on September 25 th worldwide under the aegis of International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). FIP is an international body representing over four million pharmacists, educators and pharmaceutical scientists from 123 countries around the world. It is a non-governmental organisation that was established on this very day in 1912 and has been having an official collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) since 1948.

This year’s theme for the day has been chosen by FIP to be “Pharmacy: united in action for a healthier world” that aims to showcase pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world and to further strengthen solidarity among the fellow professionals.

Regardless of conflicting ideologies, diverse politics, divergent cultures and economic disparities found among different nations pharmacists and other health workers need to stand united for the greater cause of healthcare.

While describing the main aim behind these celebrations, President of FIP, Dominique Jordan has stated that “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 3 sets out a number of health targets for non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and mental health and communicable diseases like HIV, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases.

We have seen improvements in many of these areas and our profession should be proud of and therefore make known its contributions. However, COVID-19 pandemic has hindered the progress and it is imperative that we rally to build back better”.

Main purpose of World Pharmacists Day, which was brought to life at the FIP Council 2009 in Istanbul, was to encourage activities that promote and advocate the role of a pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world.

Main objective of the World Pharmacist Day campaign is to raise awareness about the professional activities of a qualified pharmacist and to educate people on their significant role and crucial responsibilities in healthcare system and also to inculcate a sense of pride, solidarity and awareness among the pharmacy professionals at a global level.

Pharmacists represent the third largest healthcare professional group in the world and India too is home to more than ten lakh registered pharmacists. After bringing out Pharmaceutical Workforce Development Goals in 2016, FIP unveiled its “FIP Development Goals” on September 25 last year outlining measures needed to develop this profession in consonance with Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

This year FIP published a high-level committee report entitled, “Global Roadmap 2030: Sustainable advancement for pharmacy worldwide” that is meant for global transformation of pharmacy by 2030 by supporting United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the FIP Development Goals. This report was unveiled on September 22 during the 80 th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science in Seville, Spain.

Over the past few decades there has been a trend for pharmacy profession to move away from its original focus on medicine supply towards a more inclusive focus on patient care.

The role of a pharmacist has evolved from that of a compounder and supplier of pharmaceutical products towards that of a provider of services and information and ultimately that of a provider of patient care. Number of medication options have also multiplied manifold thus raising the complexity of therapies.

Pharmacists have a unique role to play in evaluating these options and utilize their knowledge and skills to prevent, detect, monitor and resolve any medicine related problems.

The concept of the seven-star pharmacist, introduced by WHO and adopted by FIP in the year 2000 in its policy statement on Good Pharmacy Practice, wants to see the pharmacist as a caregiver, communicator, decision-maker, teacher, life-long learner, leader and manager so that they can effectively decrease 5Ds i.e., Death, Disease, Disability, Discomfort and Dissatisfaction among patients. However, while seeking medical help, people think of a doctor or a nurse or a compounder, but seldom does a pharmacist come to mind. This needs to be changed by introducing professional Clinical Pharmacy services alongwith the novel concept of “Pharmaceutical Care”.

Pharmaceutical Care is a patient-centered, outcome-oriented pharmacy practice that requires the qualified pharmacist to work in concert with the patient and the patient’s other healthcare providers to promote health, to prevent disease and to make sure that the drug therapy regimens are safe and effective.

Professional Clinical Pharmacy services offered by trained personnel holding graduate and post-graduate degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences can help a great deal in identifying potential and actual drug-related problems; addressing needs and resolving actual drug related problems; preventing potential drug-related problems and optimising patient therapy outcomes.

It is a practice in which the pharmacy practitioner assures that all of a patient’s drug therapy is used appropriately for each medical condition; the most effective drug therapy available is used; the safest drug therapy possible is used, and the patient is able and willing to take the medication as intended.

Patients in our part of the globe have not been able to avail such professional pharmaceutical care services so far as a result of which there is large scale dissatisfaction and disillusionment among them since they largely remain uninformed about various lab investigations conducted upon them and about the necessity for various drug therapies prescribed.

Though with the addition of a multitude of drugs to the physician’s armamentarium over the past hundred years, treatment of many hitherto untreatable diseases has become possible, every progress has a price to pay as new drugs have led to a new group of diseases known as the iatrogenic diseases.

Ironically these can also be called as the ‘diseases of medical progress’. “Primum non nocere” – first of all be sure that you do no harm – has long been a fundamental principle of the practice of medicine, devised by Hippocrates, who is considered as the father of modern medicine, way back in 460 BC.

One of the greatest hazards in the use of modern medicines is their inherent toxicity and the dangers of drugs appear to be greater than ever before as a result of the immense growth in their availability and consumption worldwide. Whilst most consumers derive far more benefits than harm, a large proportion of patients experiences adverse drug reactions too from the use of medicines even at recommended doses and frequencies.

For some patients, such undesirable effects are sufficiently severe to require hospitalization whereas a few of them even die. In view of unwanted effects of drugs, an American physician, poet, and polymath Oliver Wendell Homes has said that “If the whole “ materia medica” (classical compendium of medicinally useful substances) would be sunk to the bottom of the sea, it would be all the better for mankind, and all the worse for the fishes”.

Ancient Indian healer known for his pioneering contributions to Ayurveda besides compilation of the medical treatise entitled ‘Charaka Samhita’ has also stated that “even a strong poison can become an excellent medicine if used properly. On the other hand, even the most useful drug can act like a poison if handled carelessly”.

Therefore, reducing the pill burden of patients and minimalizing their use of medicines is not just an option but a necessity since increasing pill burden particularly upon elderly patients is not only decreasing their adherence to their prescriptions but also telling adversely upon their trust and confidence in medicines.

This year’s World Pharmacist Day celebration is coinciding with National Pharmacovigilance Week celebration too from September 17 to 23. Let us pledge to do our bit to make medicines safer, maximize their benefits and minimise their risks.

On World Pharmacists Day we need to dwell extensively upon the emerging areas in which pharmacists can deliver their services as drug safety associates, drug analytics, patient counselling and community pharmacy service providers. We need to explore new possibilities in significant new areas and challenges evolving for the pharmacists as a result of the fast-changing global scenario.

We need to look for new opportunities for our budding pharmacists in key areas like Pharmacovigilance, Pharmaco-economics, Pharmaco-epidemiology, Personalised Medicine, Precision Medicine, Translational, Regenerative Medicine, Nanomedicine etc and we need to understand the role of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics in new drug development.

New competencies, capabilities and skills need to be acquired by the pharmacists in order to face the challenges of the contemporary world.

Trust forms the basis of any credible and lasting relationship and to earn trust we need to produce well qualified and trained pharmacists who are competent, capable, proficient, knowledgeable, skilled and confident while dispensing their duties.

This year’s theme of “Pharmacy: united in action for a healthier world” signifies the need for unity, integrity, coordination and collaboration among pharmacy professionals working as pharmacy practitioners in hospitals, drug regulators, drug analysts, industrial pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy educators, scientists and researchers for the improvement of healthcare around the world.

Good morning, everyone in attendance. Greetings! My name is XYZ. Today, I will give a speech in honour of World Pharmacists Day.

Every year on September 25, World Pharmacists Day is observed to honour pharmacists for their contributions to global health. The goal of the annual Pharmacists Day is to promote and advocate for the role of pharmacists in improving health in every corner of the world.

The International Pharmaceutical Federation council in Istanbul established World Pharmacists Day in 2009. This is the 11th year that the world has observed Pharmacists Day.

The theme of World Pharmacists Day in 2022 is “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world.” This year’s theme aims to highlight pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world while also strengthening professional solidarity.

September 25 was chosen as the date for World Pharmacists Day because the International Pharmaceutical Federation was founded on this day in 1912; thus, it was only natural that the Turkish members of the council proposed in 2009 that September 25 be observed as World Pharmacists Day.

Pharmacy is the practice that connects medicinal science and chemistry, and it plays a vital role in modern society. Pharmacists are in charge of medication and drug discovery, production, disposal, safe and effective use, and control. The world would not have safe medicines and drugs to rely on if pharmacists did not have a thorough understanding of drugs, their side effects, mobility, and toxicity.

World Pharmacists Day encourages the global community to recognise the value of pharmacists in society and to raise awareness through activities that promote and advocate for their role in improving global health.

You can modify the above-mentioned speech on World Pharmacist Day day for students to suit your needs and prepare your own short World Pharmacists Day speech.

Use the long speech on Pharmacists Day day in English provided below to help you write a World Pharmacists Day Speech.

Good morning, everyone in the room. Greetings, my name is XYZ from Standard. Today, I will give a speech in honour of World Pharmacists Day.

Every September 25th, pharmacists around the world observe World Pharmacist Day. This day is dedicated to the role of pharmacists in improving global health.

When you think of a pharmacist, you probably picture the person behind the counter who fills your prescription. These pharmacists work long hours, usually while standing. In addition to dispensing pills and providing medication advice, pharmacists also administer immunizations. Research pharmacists discover and test new medications.

Pharmacists are considered medicine experts regardless of their position. These experts have a lot of power in the medical field. It is their responsibility to ensure that medicine is both effective and safe. They must be familiar with each type of medication as well as the various forms it can take. Liquids, tablets, capsules, topical medications, drops, inhalers, and injections are all available. They must also understand how various medications interact with one another. It’s no surprise that becoming a pharmacist requires eight years of college!

Here are a few more fascinating facts about pharmacists:

  • Pharmacists invented Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, and Ginger Ale.
  • Benjamin Franklin and Hubert Humphrey were both famous pharmacists.
  • In 1928, Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, which changed the world.

Dr Joseph DiPiro, the author of the pharmacy textbook Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, is the most well-known pharmacist in the world.

Many people, including students, are perplexed as to why Pharmacist Day is observed on September 25. On September 25, 1912, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), a global federation of national associations of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, was founded. In 2009, the FIP Council in Istanbul, Turkey, proposed observing Pharmacist Day on September 25 because FIP was founded on this date. As a result, we observe World Pharmacist Day on September 25.

For World Pharmacy Day, the pharmaceutical industry hosts a variety of educational activities. Lectures, exhibitions, and activities demonstrating how pharmacies help adults and children are among them.

To commemorate World Pharmacist Day, thank your local pharmacist for all that they do. Use the hashtag #WorldPharmacistDay to share this day on social media.

Let us express our gratitude to the pharmacists who have made significant contributions to our lives.
