In the beginning, you might find that students are putting effort into schoolwork just to get the certificate but they will realize that their effort will help them succeed in school, and eventually the motivation will come from within with no award certificates and prizes. Even if a child continuously keeps studying just to receive recognition, it might be better than a child who isn’t motivated at all. The reason for studying might not be to succeed in school, but the outcome will be the same as a child who has studied because of some inner drive to succeed.

It is important to reward not only those who need a little help with their motivation but also those who are motivated and excelling. Often, teachers take those students for granted and pay more attention to those who lack motivation. Award certificate templates can help keep those students motivated as well.

All school certificates are free!

You can prepare and customize many kinds of printable certificates on this site. The award certificate templates above are more specific but if you cannot find one that is appropriate you might want to check out our generic templates which you might be able to adapt to your needs.

Why Recognize Homeschooled Kids’ Accomplishments?

It’s been a long year of homeschooling, and your kids have accomplished a lot! Recognizing their hard work with awards and certificates is a great way to show them how proud you are of their achievements.

Children are like sponges, quickly soaking up new information and skills. As they learn and grow, it’s important to provide positive reinforcement in the form of recognition and awards.

This helps to build their confidence and self-esteem, while also motivating them to continue learning.

It’s important to recognize a child’s accomplishments for several reasons.

Free Printable Homeschool Awards and Certificates 1

First, it provides positive reinforcement that encourages them to continue putting forth effort.

Second, it helps boost their self-confidence and makes them feel good about themselves.

Third, it conveys the message that you as a parent or guardian are paying attention and are proud of their efforts.

There are many ways to show recognition, from homeschool awards and certificates to simple verbal praise. Whatever form it takes, recognition is an important part of parenting and homeschooling.

It conveys love, boosts confidence, and encourages children to keep striving for excellence.

For homeschooled children, homeschool awards and certificates can be a great way to show progress and achievements. These can be given for academic milestones, such as completing a level or subject, or for personal accomplishments, such as mastering a new skill or behavior.

By taking the time to recognize a child’s accomplishments, we help to nurture their love of learning and set them up for success in the future.

Awards and certificates are a great way to show your homeschooled kids that you appreciate their efforts. They’ll feel proud to display their awards and you’ll be able to look back on their accomplishments with pride!

How to Support A Homeschooled Kid’s Accomplishments?

Aren’t kids just the best? Every day they amaze us with something new.

Whether it’s a new word they learned to spell or a painting they created, we treasure each and every achievement.

As the end of the school year approaches, homeschooled kids can start to feel a little left out. While their peers are gearing up for end-of-year celebrations and awards ceremonies, homeschooled kids often don’t have the same opportunities to be recognized for their accomplishments.

Free Printable Homeschool Awards and Certificates 2

However, there are plenty of ways to give homeschooled kids the recognition they deserve.

Many homeschooling organizations offer awards and certificates that homeschooled kids can earn. There are also many homeschooling groups that host end-of-year celebrations, where homeschooled kids can receive awards and enjoy some well-deserved recognition.

By taking advantage of these opportunities, homeschooled kids can feel celebrated and accomplished at the end of the school year.

And what better way to show your appreciation than with a certificate or award? This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to celebrate your homeschooled child’s accomplishments!

We’ve got free printable certificates for everything from perfect attendance to math bee champion. We’ve even got blank pages so you can create your own custom awards!

More Ideas For Recognizing Homeschooled Kids’ Efforts

Here are some ideas for recognizing homeschooled kids’ efforts:

  • Have a certificate or award ceremony at the end of each year, complete with speeches and/or a slideshow of pictures and accomplishments
  • Put together a portfolio or scrapbook of work completed throughout the year, with notes from parents, guardians, and/or mentors about what the child has done well
  • Have an informal “celebration” at the end of each school day, month, or semester, where family and friends can come over to see what the child has been working on and congratulate them on their efforts
  • Take the child on special outings or field trips as a reward for completing a certain amount of work or hitting academic milestones (this could be something as simple as going out for ice cream or as elaborate as taking a vacation)
  • Have a special celebratory ice cream party or pizza party to bring even more fun into the celebration of your child!

Creative Ways to Present Your Homeschool Certificates and Awards

Recognizing your homeschooled children’s achievements with awards and certificates can be made even more special by incorporating creative presentation ideas. Here are some suggestions to make the experience memorable:

  • Host a Small Ceremony: Set up a mini awards ceremony at home to celebrate your child’s accomplishments. Decorate a designated area with balloons, banners, and a podium. Gather family members and close friends to act as the audience.
  • Invite Friends and Family: Extend the celebration by inviting friends and family members to join in the recognition. Organize a small gathering where your child can showcase their accomplishments and receive the award in the presence of loved ones. This social element adds an extra touch of excitement and support to their achievements.
  • Create a Special Display Area: Designate a special area in your home to display the awards and certificates. This can be a wall, a shelf, or even a bulletin board. Decorate the space with your child’s photos, artwork, and the certificates they have received.
  • Surprise Delivery: Don’t think your child would want a big event? Add an element of surprise by delivering the award in an unexpected way. Consider leaving the certificate on your child’s desk or bed as a surprise gift. You could also plan a scavenger hunt with clues leading them to the award. The element of surprise enhances the excitement and joy of receiving recognition.
  • Virtual Celebration: If you have friends or family members who are unable to attend in person, consider hosting a virtual celebration. Arrange a video call or a virtual meeting where your child can showcase their achievements and receive applause from loved ones near and far.

Remember, the goal is to make the award presentation a memorable and meaningful experience for your kid. Tailor the presentation to their preferences and interests, and let them feel the pride and support from their loved ones.

UNC Charlotte receives free expression award

UNC Charlotte receives free expression award

UNC Charlotte has received joint national recognition for its work to promote free expression and for serving as role models for other research institutions, according to Heterodox Academy. It joins UNC-Chapel Hill in receiving the honor.

The two UNC System universities received the institutional excellence award given by the nonprofit organization, which is devoted to advancing open inquiry, viewpoint diversity and constructive disagreement in higher education. Led by the Free Expression and Constructive Dialogue Task Force , UNC Charlotte has launched a number of successful initiatives to become a leader in viewpoint diversity.

“This award is validation of the hard work put in by our group over the last two years,” said Matthew Metzgar, chair of the task force and clinical professor of economics. “We have members from across the University community contributing. It's truly been a campuswide effort to support free expression and constructive dialogue here at UNC Charlotte.”

In September 2022, the Charlotte Faculty Council established the task force, and in April 2023, the Faculty Council overwhelmingly passed a free speech resolution based on the Chicago principles, a model free speech policy statement that affirms commitment to free expression.

The task force created a Constructive Dialogue Faculty Learning Community to bring tools of constructive dialogue into the classroom, in addition to creating a resource website. The task force also established the Charlotte Conversationalists, a program that has trained undergraduate students in the art of constructive dialogue and is supporting them as they conduct student conversations in informal settings on campus.

Receiving the award supports the task force's work and expands awareness on campus and beyond, Metzgar said. “It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase the many programs and initiatives we have developed,” he said. “It helps to position us in the higher education space as a leader in this area. It also shows potential students that our campus is one where viewpoint diversity and rich dialogue are supported.”

Free expression is included in the guiding commitments in Charlotte’s Shaping What’s Next Strategic Plan , with a commitment to integrity and respect by ensuring the highest academic, professional and ethical standards and a collegial culture that embraces different perspectives, civil discourse, and free expression through which all University members are treated with respect, fairness and dignity.

The 2023 Open Inquiry awards were selected from nominations received from HxA members and supporters. UNC Charlotte and UNC-Chapel Hill are part of the Heterodox Academy’s Campus Community Network, which seeks to showcase and model the academy’s values, and improve institutional policies, practices and culture on campus.

In activities since receiving the award, the task force was a sponsor in April of the North Carolina Campus Discourse Leaders Conference , which brought together experts from colleges and universities across the state to share best practices regarding  free expression and dialogue.

Photo, left to right, Celebrating the award are task force Chair Matthew Metzgar, Mary Jo McGowan, Jesh Humphrey, Charlotte Board of Trustees member Brett Keeter, Scott Fitzgerald, Susan Harden, Theresa Mannah-Blankson and Dolly King.

Inside UNC Charlotte is produced and maintained by the Office of University Communications. Faculty and staff members can submit news or story/video ideas for consideration via the online form or email  [email protected] .

NBA mock draft 2024 roundup: Detroit Pistons will have homework to do if they win lottery

T he Detroit Pistons ' historic losing season is mercifully over, which means it's time to check out some NBA mock drafts. It's a bit complicated right now, as the Pistons will be hiring a president of basketball operations to take over the franchise. We don't know the person's assessment of the roster or preferences in the draft.

We do know the new lead executive will have the flexibility of a guaranteed top-five pick in the 2024 NBA draft, which launched a new two-day format on June 26-27 .

The Pistons, for the second season in a row, finished with the league's worst record, giving them a 14% chance to win the May 12 lottery in Chicago. The Washington Wizards also have a 14% chance, and Portland, Charlotte and San Antonio each have at least a 10% chance.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

This is deemed a weaker draft at the top, and much more wide open than usual, with no clear No. 1 prospect.

If the Pistons win the top pick for the second time in four seasons, here's a look at who they might take from numerous expert NBA mock drafts:

USA TODAY : Alex Sarr, PF/C, Perth (Australia)

Vitals: 7 feet 1, 216 pounds; turns 19 on Thursday.

Buzz: This draft lacks a superstar prospect according to the industry, but Sarr, from France, might have the highest ceiling due to his raw talent at his size, and movement skills.

Sarr spent this past season in Australia's top pro league, where he averaged 9.4 points on 52% shooting, 4.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, one turnover and 1.5 blocks over 17.3 minutes per game in 27 games. He shot 29% on 3s (1.8 attempts per game) and 71% on free throws (2.6 attempts per game) as an 18-year-old.

Jeff Zillgitt , USA TODAY Sports' NBA expert: "A strong defender and shot-blocker who plays with force on both ends; has good hands, uses his body well and though he doesn’t have the prettiest shot, he gets it to go in."

TRENDING: Ranking Pistons roster from most-to-least likely to return for 2024-25 season

ESPN : Zaccharie Risacher, SF, JL Bourg (France)

Vitals: 6-8, 200; turned 19 on April 8.

Buzz: Risacher is another French teenager playing professionally overseas; he's in the LNB Élite, France's top league. He looks like a prototypical 3-and-D prospect, with movement shooting, long strides in transition and good instincts as an off-ball defender. Averaging 10.9 points and shooting 42.7% on 3s across 43 games this season in EuroCup and league play.

Jonathan Givony, ESPN draft expert: "The Pistons are the NBA's worst 3-point shooting team while ranking among the league's worst defenses, meaning they could very well be attracted to the combination of perimeter shooting, defensive versatility and youth Risacher offers. He's having an extremely productive season competing at a very high level of competition for Bourg, guarding every position from 1 to 4 while making 39% of his 3-pointers through 60 games, despite being in a late-season slump."

Bleacher Report : Sarr

Jonathan Wasserman, B/R draft expert: "They're gonna cast a wide net here at No. 1 because there is no consensus guy. To me, I think they take Sarr because he kinda has the best mix of balance of a high floor, a high upside, a decent fit with everything they have. I think he can play some power forward because of the perimeter skill set that he has flashed in Australia. He's got a decent looking catch-and-shoot 3-ball, he actually shot a really impressive clip on pull-ups, so he's got some perimeter skills. ... But obviously the draw to Sarr is his defensive upside; can get in his stance around the perimeter, really slide with guards and wings, and then be a rim protector. ... You look at him and see this monster defensive upside, you see this potential offensive versatility as a guy who could play the 4 next to Jalen Duren."

NAMES TO WATCH: 5 candidates Pistons could consider for president of basketball operations

CBS Sports : Risacher

Kyle Boone, CBS college basketball/NBA expert: "Risacher has struggled of late after starting the season hot, in particular cooling after showing improvement as a shooter. But as we sit here now I'd still project him to be the first pick because of his long-term upside. Wings at 6-9 who can handle and shoot with ease the way he can don't slip far."

Sporting News : Sarr

Kyle Irving, S/N NBA expert: "Even though the Pistons already have a bruising young center in Jalen Duren, there isn't enough talent on the roster to be drafting for fit. Sarr would give Detroit a high-energy rim protector with more length. The 7-foot center is an athletic and powerful shot-blocking big with budding offensive skills who held his own playing professionally in Australia's NBL overseas."

Fox Sports : Sarr

Jason McIntyre, Fox co-host of "The Herd" and sports betting analyst: "Sarr is another athletic big man from France with perimeter skills. No, he's not Wemby. Sarr only played 17 minutes per game in the NBL as an 18-year-old, but he projects as a Jaren Jackson-type talent at both ends."

Tiffany Haddish brings new book to Delaware in free event. Here's how to attend

homework award free

Multi-talented performer Tiffany Haddish is stopping by Delaware this spring with her forthcoming book, "I Curse You With Joy."

The free event is at Wilmington Public Library on Wednesday, May 8. No registration is needed. Seating is first come, first served.

Haddish's book will be on sale the day of her appearance. The event will be moderated by Chandra Pitts, president and CEO of One Village Alliance in Wilmington.

Who is Tiffany Haddish?

Haddish is a comedian, actress, writer and rapper who grew up in South Central Los Angeles. Her breakout role was in the 2017 comedy "Girls Trip" with Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah.

Haddish has done handfuls of films over the years such as "Night School" (Kevin Hart), "Keanu" (Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key) and "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" (Chris Pratt)

She's also landed Netflix comedy specials, including her self-created series "Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready" featuring Godfrey, Erin Jackson and Tony Woods.

Her Netflix special "Black Mitzvah" won a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album in 2021.  Haddish became the second Black woman to win the Grammy for Best Comedy Album after Whoopi Goldberg won the award in 1986.

Common dated Tiffany Haddish

In January, Wilmington Library welcomed one of Haddish's old flames as a guest: fellow rapper and actor Common .

Haddish discussed their 2021 breakup with The Washington Post in a story that ran last July. “It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course,’" she explained. "And I was like, ‘OK. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. OK?’”

She said that her time with Common was “the healthiest, the funnest relationship I’ve ever had."

What is 'I Curse You With Joy' about?

" I Curse You With Joy " is released Tuesday, May 7. The book comes after Haddish's "The Last Black Unicorn," which debuted on the New York Times Best Sellers list in 2017 and told the story of her rise from nothing to reaching her dreams.

"I Curse You With Joy" is described as "Tiffany Haddish unfiltered," per the book’s synopsis on Amazon.

It features essays "bringing readers into Tiffany's inner circle where joy, honesty, humor, and heart are the order of the day."

Tiffany Haddish is coming to Wilmington Public Library (10 E. 10th St., Wilmington) at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 8. Admission is free. Visit facebook.com/WilmingtonLibraryDE , wilmington.lib.de.us or call (302) 571-7400.

2024 NFL Draft Rumors: ‘Jaguars Have Explored Moving Up’ and Done Homework on Top WRs

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Jaguars have done their homework on the top receivers in the class and have even considering a trade-up.

  • Author: John Shipley

It is officially draft week.

In just a few short days, the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft will kickoff and the futures of all 32 teams will change and take shape.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, could that future involve a blockbuster trade for a No. 1 wide receiver? Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer suggests it could.

"The Jaguars have explored moving up—and they’ve done a lot of work on the top receivers in the draft," Breer said.

"Losing Calvin Ridley, even with Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis paid, makes that spot a priority. Failing that, corner, if either Arnold or Mitchell are available here, shapes up as a possibility, too. Another would be a disruptive defensive tackle for new DC Ryan Nielsen’s scheme—maybe Murphy, if he slides a bit, or Illinois defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton (who’s coming off a foot fracture)."

The top wide receivers in the draft include the likes of Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr., Washington's Rome Odunze, and LSU's Malik Nabers. Nabers has been commonly linked to the Jaguars, with team sources indicating to Jaguar Report this offseason that the Jaguars are extremely high on the SEC standout.

“I think it’s a very good group of receivers, obviously. I think those three that everybody is talking about are really good football players," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said last week.

"I think there’s some guys in the next wave that are really good football players, too. I think there’s good players like that all the way through the draft in that position. There’s going to be some later round guys that make a mark for themselves at some point in their careers in this league as well. It’s a good group, there’s a lot of variations of guys, guys strictly in the slot, guys strictly out on the perimeter. There are some guys that can move around the formations a little bit more. It’s a good group of receivers.”

Baalke has traded up just three times in his career with the Jaguars. Only one such occurrence happened in the first round, with Baalke trading up to No. 27 to select linebacker Devin Lloyd during the 2022 NFL Draft.

“Well, if you talk to the analytics people, they’ll tell you never move up. Acquire as many darts as you can, keep moving back. You just got to look at the board and let the board speak," Baalke said.

"We spent 360-something days putting this thing together and to try to make something happen and force something to happen, sometimes backfires on you. You chase something and it doesn’t pan out, so you lose out there and then you lose out on the guy you would’ve picked and the two guys you would’ve picked with the other picks you gave up. If you’re going to move up, you better be right.”

Iowa's Caitlin Clark first 2-time winner of Sullivan Award

NEW YORK -- Caitlin Clark is still picking up trophies.

The Iowa basketball star, who was recently the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft , won the James E. Sullivan Award for the second straight year Tuesday night.

Clark is the first two-time winner in the award's 94-year history. It goes to the nation's most outstanding athlete at the college or Olympic level. Her high school coach, Kristin Meyer, accepted the award on her behalf at the New York Athletic Club. Clark gave her acceptance speech via Zoom.

Voting by the public, the AAU Sullivan Award committee, AAU board of directors, sports media and previous winners decided the winner.

The other finalists were Olympic wrestler David Taylor, Olympic speed skater Emery Lehman, gymnast Frederick Richard, Texas volleyball player Madisen Skinner and Paralympic swimmer Noah Jaffe.

The award also honors leadership, citizenship, character and sportsmanship on and off the playing field.

"The AAU Sullivan Award is an incredible honor," Clark said via Zoom. "I have been inspired by so many athletes that came before me and I hope I can be that same inspiration for the next generation to follow their dreams."

Clark has been the main driver for the dramatic uptick in women's basketball interest with her mix of deep 3-point shots, flashy thread-the-needle passes and overall court presence. A women's basketball-record 18.9 million viewers watched Iowa's loss to South Carolina in the NCAA title game, and a WNBA-record 2.45 million watched the draft .
