So, without any delay, let’s start writing the speech.

Health is Wealth Speech in English for 1, 2 & 3 Minutes –

1. health is wealth speech for 1 minute –.

Hello everyone, my name is Sachin Kulkarni and today, I’m going to give a speech on health is wealth. Please forgive me if I make any mistakes.

Good health is one of the most valuable assets for human beings in life. If someone’s health is not good, he can neither live his life comfortably nor can enjoy the moments of life like others.

Health is something that can be cured with money, but can’t be bought. That means no matter how rich we are, we can’t buy good health.

Everyone wants good health but no one follows things that are responsible for good health. To be healthy, we should meditate, do physical work, eat healthy food, etc. But, people don’t pay attention to them.

We can live life without money but not without good health. So, we should pay special attention to our health because only good health can take us towards the peak.

If we really want to live a healthy life, we have to wake up early in the morning and do physical and mental exercises for a definite interval of time, as well as we have to consume hymns that keep our health good.

At last, I’ll request to everybody to maintain his health for the enjoyment of life.

2. Health is Wealth Speech for 2 Minutes –

First of all, my greetings to everyone who is listening to me here. My name is Subodh Bharti and I study in class 8th. Today, I got an opportunity to express my thoughts about health is wealth. So, if I made any mistake, please give me pardon.

As you all know that progress in any field is possible only when we have good health. In other words, success can’t be achieved without good health. Nevertheless, people don’t focus on their health.

We all are so busy shaping our future that we have forgotten to care about our health, whereas only good health can take us towards a good future. We don’t want to do any physical or mental work. As a result, we have become very lazy.

In the earlier decades, when there was no technology, we were not dependent on any machine or equipment, but increasing technology has made us dependent.

Today, we are completely dependent on machines. We don’t require much physical activity while doing any work, due to which we’re getting surrounded by various types of diseases. To become healthy, it’s essential to be mentally, intellectually, physically active and eat food that can strengthen us in every way.

In the true sense, our good health is the only wealth. if we are healthy, we can be happy and enjoy our life with no stress. If we are unwell, no matter how much money we have, it cannot give us happiness.

So, always try to stay fit so that you don’t have any stress or disease.

Also, see the speech on the importance of yoga .

3. Health is Wealth Speech for 3 Minutes –

Good morning to all the respected teachers and students, today, I’m going to give a speech on health is wealth, please forgive me if I make any mistakes unknowingly.

Health is wealth, in this proverb health is compared to wealth. No matter how much money we have, if we are physically unwell, no one is poorer than us.

It’s also believed that whether we are rich or poor, diseases don’t come after seeing our prosperity and poverty, but it’s absolutely true that they capture those who remain physically or mentally inactive.

In today’s era, we are chasing our work so fast that we don’t worry about our health.

There is no doubt that working is necessary for our livelihood, but we should also take care of our health. Only a healthy body motivates us to do work and if we are unhealthy, we cannot do anything efficiently.

Due to our body being unhealthy, neither we feel energetic nor are we motivated to do any work. That’s why it is always said that health is the first wealth.

To stay away from diseases, we should exercise regularly and do it on a daily basis. At the same time, we should take healthy food and be active in our work as much as possible because inactivity and laziness are such things that give a feast to diseases.

If possible, all parents should motivate their children to take yoga classes or regular exercise so that they can lead healthy and happy lives. Also, we have to make a habit of being happy by reducing anger. It has been known for centuries how beneficial laughter is for health.

A healthy and happy life will come only when we are physically and mentally fit otherwise we will spend our days in despair and passivity.

Now, I end my words and suggest you keep your body healthy.

Also, see the speech on child labour for 2 minutes .

Final words –

In the end, I hope that the article must have satisfied you and you have got here the best speeches on health is wealth.

Now, you can choose the best one which can attract more attention while delivering the speech. If you really liked this article, please share it with those who need it.

Health is Wealth Speech - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

Speech on health is wealth -.

Health is the highest wealth for a human being in their entire life. One can survive without having money but no one can survive without good health. Something that we cannot buy with money is health. But we can cure it and take care of it with the help of money when needed. It is a real treasure. Unless you stay healthy nothing you work for or you earn can be enjoyed.

Health is Wealth Speech - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

10 Lines Speech on Health is Wealth

An American philosopher named Ralph Waldo Emerson is the one who created "Health is Wealth".

Only a healthy person can live a happier and long life.

Nothing is more important to anyone than health in this world.

We should always try our best to keep ourselves healthy.

Success will always chase healthy people.

A peaceful mind and body can automatically earn both health and wealth.

We can save huge money on medical bills by making our mind and body physically fit and healthy by following a healthy lifestyle.

Good health helps us to achieve everything.

In general people who are healthy can work more when compared to people who are ailing from disease.

We ultimately lose interest in everything happening around us when our health is not good or fails to cooperate with us.

Short speech on Health is Wealth

Good health is one of the main elements of happiness that every person needs in their life. We can see many people around us who are living happily without having a lot of money and similarly someone who is having more money but is unhealthy will not be totally happy. However no one can buy good health with their wealth.

Healthy life

If someone wants a healthy life then they have to follow many rules and also sacrifice many things in their daily routines. There is a saying that without any sacrifices and hard work we cannot earn something. A healthy lifestyle is the highest blessing that should not be taken for granted by us. We ourselves are only responsible for our health. So make a healthy lifestyle a priority.

Always strive to keep a cheerful as well as a concentrated routine. It is very necessary to plan ahead of time in any case one must maintain a good bodily, mental and emotional state and no counselor or professional can assist you unless you deserve to live. The will to live the moment and make the most of it will bring out the ideal strength in you. You are the only one who cannot let yourself fall apart.

Long Speech on Health is Wealth

World health day.

On April 7, every year World Health Day is celebrated. It is an initiative taken by the WHO ( World Health Organization ) to raise awareness among people across the world. This day reminds people to take their health more seriously. The WHO organized local, regional and international events on this day. WHO helps in protecting health from the adverse effects of climate change, run campaigns to provide awareness among us.

Good Health

Good health doesn't only mean the absence of disease in the body but it is a complete mental, physical, spiritual as well as social well being of an individual.

It is always advisable to eat fresh food and fruits instead of junk or spicy food which are harmful to the body. Drinking sufficient amounts of water, intake of milk and seasonal food should be included in our food. Food in olden days was very naturally cultivated or grown but nowadays it is grown full of chemicals. This will harm our health.

Maintain a balanced diet daily. Using healthy oils, more veggies, intake of fruits and grains, and drinking sufficient amounts of water can be considered as a proper diet. Intake of food more than the body requires is also unhealthy .

Being physically active can improve your brain health, reduce the risk of disease, help to manage weight, strengthen bones and muscles and improve one's ability to do everyday activities. Most of the health issues which many one are facing today are due to the lack of physical work.

Health is wealth means that being healthy is more important than being wealthy. Wealth can be lost, but good health is priceless and cannot be bought with money. A person who is in good health is able to work efficiently and enjoy life to the fullest. On the other hand, a person who is constantly battling illness will find it difficult to lead a normal life, regardless of how much wealth they may have.

For example, consider a wealthy business person who falls ill and is unable to work for an extended period of time. Despite their wealth, they will not be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor and may even face financial difficulties due to the costs of medical treatment. In this situation, good health would have been a much more valuable asset than wealth.

Therefore, it is important to prioritise one's health and take steps to maintain it, such as exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, and getting enough sleep. By doing so, a person can enjoy both good health and wealth, and live a fulfilling life.

In conclusion, the phrase "health is wealth" emphasizes the importance of good health in our lives. It highlights the fact that even the most wealthy individuals can become impoverished by poor health, while good health allows us to enjoy all aspects of life, regardless of wealth. Taking care of one's health should be a top priority, and this means making lifestyle choices that promote physical and mental well-being.

Health is Wealth Speech for Students

Many of you have been made familiar with the phrase ‘Health Is Wealth’ in your school. Just like the phrase reads, the health of an individual plays an important role in our lives and is no less valuable than wealth. It is our sole responsibility to take proper care of our health and maintain a proper lifestyle to keep it healthy. By the term ‘Health’ , we not only define our physical health but also equally prioritize our mental health.

Thus, we have provided a long and short speech on health and fitness as a reference for the students. Speech on the importance of health is an important topic that must be introduced to all the students to help them be familiar with their mental as well as physical health. These speeches are provided for students of all categories along with a short 2 minute speech on health for the students of Class 1 and Class 2.

Long Speech on Health and Fitness in English

Given below is a long 500 words speech on health and fitness for the students of Class 7 to Class 12. This speech on the importance of health and fitness can be referred to by the students to prepare for their examination.

Greetings everyone! Today I have been provided with an opportunity to deliver a speech on fitness and how our health plays a major role in maintaining our mental as well as physical fitness. Since we are in a generation where everything around us is so technologically advanced and fast, we often get too dependent on machines and technology. Due to our fast-paced and busy schedule, we give less importance to physical fitness and mental health. As a result, all we have become is physically inactive and lazy. But with this are we all heading towards a healthy lifestyle? Sadly, the answer is no. Gone are the days where we used to walk to the nearest stores and take the stairs of our buildings. Also, we are more addicted to eating junk foods and ordering food from outside. Therefore, this has given rise to several diseases starting from cardiovascular diseases, obesity, depression and anxiety.

Although there have been several medical technologies and treatments that can get you out of it, all it takes to stop this thing is self-control and a healthy lifestyle. As the saying goes, ‘Health is Wealth’, an individual can only enjoy all the valuables of life if he/she/they is both physically and mentally healthy. The health of an individual plays a major role in his/her/their life and must be taken care of. In spite of our busy schedules, it is our responsibility to prioritize our health and involve ourselves in some kind of physical activity. Physical exercises need not be always strenuous, it can also be done in the form of walking, cycling, yoga and meditation that brings calmness to both mind and body.

But, is doing physical activity enough to stay healthy? Well, no. Most of the role to keep us healthy is played by the food we intake. It will be of no use if we intake junk and unhealthy food, rich in sugar and cholesterol levels and try to be healthy. Apart from exercising, it is equally important to drink plenty of water to keep ourselves hydrated. The level of fitness totally depends on the amount of activity our body can perform and the food we consume. Thus, inculcating a habit of eating healthy foods such as fruits, green vegetables and essential vitamins is really important.

I hope this health is wealth speech was really helpful in motivating you all to stay physically and mentally healthy. So, it’s high time that we really put our health over everything and take proper care of it. Lastly, I would like to thank all of you for being here today and listening to my speech.

Short Speech on Health and Hygiene

A short speech on health and hygiene is given below as a reference for the students of Class 3 to Class 6. This health y speech in English is given in a simple language to help them understand the topic better and prepare them for any speech competition or exam.

A very warm welcome to everyone present here. Today, I am going to deliver a speech on health and hygiene. These two are strongly associated with each other because it is very important to maintain a hygienic environment to stay healthy. This can be done by maintaining cleanliness and incorporating the habit of hygiene in our lives.

Living an unhygienic lifestyle can lead to several skin diseases and infections. The health of a person determines how much a person is physically fit and active. When it comes to taking care of health, several factors come into play which includes eating healthy food, doing regular exercises, having a proper sleep cycle and maintaining oral hygiene. We have been taught since our childhood to brush our teeth twice a day and avoid eating sugary foods to prevent bad breath and cavity. But many of us often forget to inculcate these healthy habits in our daily life. Our daily schedule has become so busy that we often end up ignoring our health, which in the long term, affects our body.

We can start leading a healthy life by taking small steps towards it such as switching from junk foods to fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of water and walking every day for at least an hour. This, as a result, will help us concentrate well on our work and lead a life full of fitness.

1 minute speech on health is wealth

"Health Is Wealth": A Conversation with the U.S. Surgeon General

Jerome Adams: Wonderful to be here—thank you so much.

Raphael Bostic, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Atlanta Fed (left) interviewes the U.S. Surgeon General, Jerome Adams.

Bostic: Well, I'm really pleased that you're here. We have a lot of things in common in terms of our interest in helping communities be more healthy and more productive, and I'm really excited to have a conversation with you on this.

Adams: One of the things I've long felt is that physical health and mental health are directly correlated with financial health, and I'm really excited to be working with the Federal Reserve to show how health equals wealth, and in turn how increasing health for all of society can turn into increasing wealth.

Bostic: We're going to talk a little more about that in a bit, but I wanted to just start with you—you're the surgeon general, and I think a lot of people know that there is a surgeon general, but I don't think they know a lot about what the surgeon general does or how this position came about. Maybe you could talk a little bit about that to give us some clarity on how you got to where you are.

Bostic: You know, Dr. Satcher is from here in Atlanta.

Adams: Absolutely—he's a good friend of mine. And he is a giant in public health, and Atlanta is lucky to have him.

Bostic: I had the good fortune to meet him a couple weeks ago, and he was absolutely delightful, so maybe I need to make this a quest to meet all of the surgeons general as they go forward. And the other thing that was very interesting—you're a uniformed service. Do you guys have your own hymn, just like the more widely known ones?

Adams: Exactly. We have a Public Health Service hymn that is very much related to our mission, and what we do to protect the health of the nation.

Adams: That would be fantastic.

Bostic: So I want to turn a bit now to your initiative that got us in touch with each other: the Community Health and Economic Prosperity initiative. Maybe could you say a little bit about what that is, how it originated, and what you're hoping to accomplish from this?

I often say to folks that, from a health point of view, we tend to talk about blood pressure or blood sugar or cholesterol levels—but those things don't resonate with CFOs. They don't resonate with individuals who are charged with balancing the business bottom line. We've got to help them understand that by focusing on housing, on food, on physical activity, on complete streets, on clean air laws, that you will see increased productivity at work, that you will see folks who show up on time and are able to be there more consistently, that you will see increased profitability, because unfortunately right now we know that health care is one-fifth of our GDP [gross domestic product], and it's causing companies to move jobs overseas where those expenses aren't quite as high. Workforce health care costs, and even consumers—if you're selling a product to U.S. citizens, and they're having to spend one out of every five dollars to pay for their health care costs, they're not going to be able to buy Christmas presents, to buy cars, to buy the products that generate and stimulate our economy.

Bostic: Or even invest. Money spent on health care is money that's not being saved and not being used for a host of other things that help us be productive. Now, I want to say: we came to this at the Sixth District, because the Sixth District is not doing very well from a health perspective if you look at metrics of health—the five big ones that people often talk about are childhood obesity, adult obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and physical inactivity. If you look at the states in the Sixth District, we're not doing very well at all. Mississippi is ranked number one for childhood obesity—and a higher ranking means you're doing worse—and they're in the top five for the other four metrics. Alabama and Louisiana are in the top ten for all five metrics. Georgia is in the top ten for childhood obesity and physical inactivity, and Tennessee is in the top ten for diabetes and hypertension. The only high performer in our district is Florida, and they still rank in the lower half in terms of health across all these metrics. So it is something that is really important for us and the Federal Reserve, who are concerned about aggregate economic performance. This is a drag on that, and a very significant waste. So ways that we can make progress—it's really important, and I'm really pleased that we've connected to start to try to work together on this.

Adams: And when you think about community building—for instance, the number one cost for most Fortune 500 companies is salary. The number two cost for most of those companies is health care. If I were to tell you, as the owner of a business, that your number two cost is going to be substantially higher in community A versus community B, where are you going to move to? And there's a very real example of this that's played out in the national spotlight recently, when you think about Amazon—Amazon put their second headquarters in Crystal City, Virginia. Well, if you look at Crystal City, Virginia, four of the top 20 healthiest cities in the United States, as ranked by US News [& World Report], are surrounding that Crystal City area. That is not a coincidence. We know that businesses look to move to places where there are healthier employees, and where millennials want to move to because they can live a healthier and more fulfilling life, so you have that talent base additionally. And we want everyone to benefit equitably from this increasing economy, so I think it's important, particularly here in the Sixth District, that folks focus on building community health—not just as a way to live longer lives, but as a way to generate economic development in their communities.

Bostic: So it is true that you'd couch it like that, and I actually didn't know that statistic about Crystal City, so that's very interesting. You talk a lot about the important role that businesses will play in any efforts around improving community health—that's actually a different take than you often hear from surgeons general, in terms of talking about health—like we talked about: finding better food and all that kind of stuff. Reaching out to businesses to try to get them to be a partner in this is quite interesting. What got you to think that that was a strategy that we need to be pursuing?

Adams: Well, Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. And number one, we've got to help folks understand that, yes, there's personal responsibility, and yes, we need individuals to become better informed so that they can make better decisions. But we also know that the decisions people make are 100 percent dependent on the decisions that they have, or that they feel they have, in front of them.

For instance, I live in a pretty decent neighborhood. My kids can go out and run around the neighborhood without fear of getting shot, without fear of getting run over by traffic coming by, and so we can make a choice to be physically active that other folks don't have the option of making. We can make a choice to eat fresh fruits and vegetables because the grocery store is closer than the fast food restaurant, and not everyone can say that. So we need to both help individuals become better educated so they can make better choices, but we need to put better choices in front of them.

And businesses need to understand that they have leverage—unique leverage—that they can bring to bear to help change the environment and create better options, better choices. Many businesses are focusing on employee health care and employee wellness, and that's very appropriate. That said, you can do everything right from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but if you go home to an unhealthy environment from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, you're going to undo much of the progress that you've made. So we need to focus not just on the work site, but on the community. We also know that 50 percent of the health care cost for employers is not for the actual employee, but it's for their spouse, for their children, for their family. So we have to worry about the environment that they're living, working, playing, and praying in, in addition to the employee.

Bostic: I heard you say a statistic some time ago that 80 percent of health is not about health care. It is about things other than health care that affect people's psyche and some of the things you were just talking about. From my background—I'm a geeky economist, so I apologize—we call those the "social determinants of health."

Adams: Yes.

Bostic: Things like housing and the safety of the streets, education, transportation—the things that cause stress in people's lives, and those stresses that lead to people making poor decisions. I say all the time, someone that's under stress is going to make bad decisions, whether you're rich, whether you're poor, or whether you're African American, Latino—it just doesn't matter. How has the health community come to embrace and face that reality: that so much of a person's health is not really about their health care, specifically?

Adams: Well, first of all I think it's important that folks understand that we spend so much of our focus, our time, our energy, our money, talking about health care. And yes, we want everyone to have health care when they need it. But we want to stop fishing people out of the stream after they've fallen in and they're drowning. We want to prevent them from falling in in the first place, and study after study shows that you get much more bang for your buck by investing in those social determinants of health that prevent people from falling in the stream, than you do on the back end. So I'll use diabetes, for instance. We can focus on making sure folks have the most up-to-date medications, that they are refilling their medications—and that's important. But wouldn't you much rather prevent diabetes on the front end by helping people be physically active and eating right, than to have to deal with their diabetes on the back end? If it were you, personally—wouldn't you rather not have diabetes in the first place, than to have access to top-notch medical care to treat your diabetes after you've already developed it?

All those things are critically, critically important. And again, employers can get involved with policies in their communities. They can show up when they're debating clean air laws, they can show up when there are debates about zoning, they can show up when there are discussions about whether or not we should build a park so that people can commingle together and can exercise. And they can also do some of these things on their own work site, where you can promote these social determinants of health by making the healthy choice the easier choice for individuals: the choices you're making in terms of vending machine policies, in terms of what you're carrying in your cafeteria, in terms of just looking around, walking around your work site, and asking yourself: Are your stairs accessible? I was here at the Federal Reserve and checked out your stairwell, and you all are doing some great things here where you've made the stairwells more attractive, more well-lit, and have artwork in there, so that folks can find them in the first place and would rather take them than take the elevator.

Bostic: That's a new thing that we put in probably six months ago to try to make the stairs more appealing. There are fun facts in there, it's painted, it's well lit, and the idea is really to try to help people use the stairs far more often, because those are hidden calories that you can burn that makes it much easier, without having a lot of extra time.

Adams: Have you read the book called Nudge?

Bostic: No, I have not read that.

Adams: It's a great book that talks about things that we can do, and it's not just about health. They talk about getting people to invest more money, and the fact that in many cases the default option for folks is what they go with, but our default options are not the healthiest financially, physically, or emotionally. And so, we don't want to create a nanny state—make no mistake about it, that's not what we're advocating for here. But what we're advocating for is nudging people in the right direction, giving them more options, and then making the options that we know will be better for them and for society the easy option instead of making it the harder option to pursue.

Bostic: And one thing on this that I think it's important to understand: there are some things we know work. There are things that we know are better for people's outcomes, and we're not going to make anybody do that, but we should make it known that those things work, and then we should try to make it as easy as possible to do those things. You talked about prevention as opposed to treatment. Preventing something rather than treating it is often cheaper often leads to higher quality of life. The story that I think about in my background is homelessness. We know that it is far cheaper to do the interventions before someone's homeless than after they're homeless. That has become much more widely known among policymakers, and so funds for homelessness prevention have become very highly protected. There are a whole bunch of other areas where that knowledge is not as clearly known, and I think that we have an opportunity to try to change an understanding and then lead to a different outcome.

Adams: And this is where you all can really lean into this, as folks who are experts in finance. We need to restructure the payment system, because you and I agree completely that prevention is cheaper. The problem is, for whom and in what system? And you asked about health care delivery. I'll give you, again, a very real example: hospitals don't get paid to keep a diabetic out of the hospital. Hospitals get paid every time that diabetic walks through the door and shows up. There's another saying—that every system is perfectly designed to get exactly the results that it gets. We need to restructure our financial incentives, our payment systems, so that people are paid to stay healthy and not paid to be unhealthy. The only person for whom right now it is clearly a cost to not prevent disease within the health care system is the federal and state governments, because ultimately they're the ones, along with employers, who have to pay the ultimate cost. But within the health care system most folks get paid to do the wrong thing and not to do the right thing.

Bostic: Well, people respond to incentives, and they know how they get paid. This is an issue that is pervasive and is one of the challenges, in fact, in dealing with the social determinants of health. In many programs, health dollars can't be spent on those social determinants, and it makes it much more difficult to make progress in those things.

Adams: And employers can look at their benefits structure for their employees, and make changes or ask questions. Another great example that everyone's talking about is the opioid epidemic. Have you looked at your benefits structure lately and asked yourself, "Are we paying to prescribe opioids versus paying to give folks alternatives for pain management to opioids?" We know that four out of five heroin users got started with a prescription opioid. We know the U.S. prescribes 90-plus percent of the world's opioids to less than 5 percent of the world's population, and a lot of that is funded by our insurers, by employers out there. So there are real things that folks could be doing right now to change the system and to change the incentives in the system.

Bostic: I was going to raise the opioid crisis, because again—this is something that is very present in the Sixth District. As you look across the Southeast, it's in a lot of places. I know this is something you've spoken a lot about and you've spent a lot of time on. How are we doing, and what are your prospects for making progress on this?

Adams: Well, it's definitely something I'm passionate about. It's pressing, but for me it's also personal: my own brother is in prison right now. He stole money to support his addiction and got a 10-year prison sentence. And I tell his story because it's the story of someone in every community across America. If this could happen to the brother of the surgeon general, it can—and it is happening—to all of us. I'm very concerned about where we are as a country right now. For the third year in a row, we've seen life expectancy not increase. Let me put it a different way: I represent the first generation of parents—I have a 14-, a 12-, and a 9-year-old—the first generation of parents in the last half a century who can't tell their kids that you're going to live a longer life than what your mom and your dad did.

Bostic: Well, I'm glad that you said that because in so many instances we think of it as somebody else's problem, and I'm not involved, I'm not engaged. And for many of the issues that we're talking about, it's everybody's problem. We all actually pay extra when things don't work, and we all can be adversely affected by it—it's a pretty significant thing. And I'll just tell you, for the Federal Reserve System: I'm the chair of the Committee for Human Resources now, and we are now looking at all of our benefits to see if we, in our structure, are promoting elevated use of opioids that may be not necessary. And so it's led us to question, in a lot of ways, how we should think about this.

Adams: You talked about human resources. Human capital is a big issue. We have six million unfilled jobs in this country right now—more unfilled jobs than there are people looking for work. I don't mean to be an alarmist, but we literally, in my opinion, have a workforce crisis, and companies are going to have to make tough decisions about whether we stay here and wait it out and hope that we can eventually hire people or whether we start moving some of these jobs overseas. We really risk having our economy stall if we don't pay attention to health—and in particular the opioid epidemic, which is causing so many people to check out of the workforce.

Bostic: You know, we have a new center—I guess it's not so new, it has been a year—on workforce development and economic opportunity [the Atlanta Fed's Center for Workforce and Economic Opportunity ] , precisely because we see the economy evolving in ways where we could have shortages in our workforce in a number of categories because our current workforce doesn't have the skills to fill those jobs of tomorrow. So we're trying to get employers to be more sensitive to this, speak out more about what they need, and we're also trying to talk to educators, community colleges, technical schools and the like to see what they're doing to create programs so that we can give people pathways into those new jobs. And folks who have already checked out because they're now addicted to opioids, and folks that are at risk of that—

Adams: They have a criminal record and have difficulty in finding employment for that reason...

Bostic: There are many categories where we need to think creatively about ways to get them to be fully engaged in our workforce, so that we can remain competitive at the global scale—because that's where we are right now.

Adams: And it's not just finances—it's our national security. Another shocking statistic, Raphael: seven out of ten of our 18- to 24-year-olds are currently ineligible for military service in this country because they can't pass the physical, can't meet the educational requirements, or have a criminal background record. Our economy is not achieving all that it could be because of our nation's poor health. But we are also literally a less safe nation than what we could be because of our nation's poor health. It isn't just health for health's sake that we need to worry about. If we're worrying about the future economic prospects and safety and security for our children and our grandchildren, we need to really start leaning into these social determinants, these community determinants, of health.

Bostic: I want to just make a little turn here, and I know we're running out of time. So you started off in biochemistry and psychology, right?

Bostic: So, hardcore science. You've got a master of public health degree from the University of California at Berkeley, you got your undergrad at Maryland, and then you got a medical degree from Indiana University.

Adams: You've been talking to my mother, haven't you?

Bostic: Absolutely. [laughter] I've got to do my research, right? So that's all service, in terms of delivering a service, from the medical. What got you to move into the public sector, and to take on more public roles?

Adams: Well, that's a great question. I love practicing medicine. There is no greater feeling than staying up all night with someone in the operating room and feeling like you've saved a life. And as surgeon general, I still practice about one day a month at Walter Reed [General Hospital]—because again, we need people there. Sometimes people are just going to fall in the stream, they're going to fall in the river, and they need to be fished out. And someone needs to be there, committed to fishing them out.

But that said, I've found that by getting involved in public service I can help a thousand people—ten thousand people—a million people—at once, versus the one-on-one care that I can provide in the operating room. And I'll give you a very real example of this: I worked at a Level I trauma center for the last ten years. We literally saved lives. People would come in with multiple gunshot wounds and car wrecks, and at the end of the evening you would say to yourself, "If I hadn't been there, that person might not be alive today." But in my ten-plus years, I've maybe really been critical in saving five hundred, a thousand people's lives. Well, earlier this year as surgeon general we put out an advisory letting folks know what naloxone is—it's an opioid overdose-reversal agent—and helping them understand that in all 50 states, third parties can carry naloxone and respond to someone who's having an overdose. Since that happened, naloxone prescribing's up 350 percent. So to put it in real numbers: I have saved, literally, exponentially more people in six months, with a public health intervention and with my advocacy, than what I saved in ten years of medical practice. And it's not to diminish or lift up one over the other, but it's to show that impact that we can have if we get involved, if we lean into policy change, if we all try to figure out how we can, in our own lives and our own unique ways, become public servants.

Bostic: But policy change is hard, right? And that can take a long time, and there's no guarantee of that. So you've now been in Washington for a little more than a year.

Bostic: And after being the health commissioner in Indiana—

Adams: For three years, yes.

Bostic: For three years. And Indiana had some issues, while you were the health director, in HIV and a number of other things, so you've been under the spotlight. Is it different? How has this role compared to some of the things you've done in the past?

Adams: My time in Indiana as a state official led me into the Washington, DC world with my eyes a little bit more wide open, but nobody is prepared for living in the bubble of Washington, DC—having every decision that you make, no matter how neutral you think you are, instantly classified into being either right or left, either Democrat or Republican. And what I've tried to do is just always stick to my mantra of doing the right thing, of not assuming that anyone can't contribute to the conversation. And I think that's one of the problems we have right now—we shut down people, we refuse to listen to them, to hear from them, and no one's got a monopoly on good ideas, and no one's got a monopoly on bad ideas, either. So we need to make sure we're talking to everyone and engaging them and building that trust.

And I saw it happen in Indiana. It took time, it took time. But over my three years there, we were able to bring people together to gain trust, and I'm seeing it happen here in Washington DC, largely with the unfortunate wind of the opioid epidemic in our sails. Now folks are realizing we can't stay in our corners and overcome this problem—we've got to come together.

Bostic: Well, health is certainly not a partisan issue, and you're not advocating for it in that way. It's really gratifying to see someone in your position reaching out and engaging a whole range of people in the service of trying to improve people's health. And that is something that I'm appreciative of, and the country will benefit greatly by. I've been talking with the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams. Jerome, it's been a pleasure to talk with you. Good luck, and I look forward to working with you a lot in the future.

Adams: Absolutely. Thank you, and remember—health is wealth.

When we say the word ‘health’, what do we mean by it? As per the WHO (World Health Organisation), health is referred to the state of full mental, social and physical well-being and not just the absence of mental or physical weakness or illness. When a person doesn’t have any physical ailments and isn’t mentally disturbed, then they can be said to be in their best health. People usually try to stay healthy but, due to the recent pandemic, it’s becoming difficult to maintain one’s health.

The spread of the corona virus over the past two years has made it difficult for everyone to maintain their health. Though this is the case, one should try to follow some simple ways that will help them keep their bodies and minds healthy. Let’s look at some ways that anyone can follow:

  • Try including some physical exercises/yoga in your routine. They not only prove to be beneficial for the body but also for the mind. For the past two years, offices, as well as schools and colleges, have been functioning online. As a result, many students and young people have developed backaches and posture problems. Adding at least half an hour of yoga/exercise to your daily routine will help you overcome these problems.
  • In today’s world, everybody is engrossed in their mobiles or laptops, and there’s very little time they spend without it. Sometimes, it is necessary to take a break from all these electronic and smart devices. This will help us maintain proper physical and mental health.
  • A good night’s sleep is an easy and effortless way to maintain your health. Your body works to repair all the cells and make sure that your body functions properly the next day in the time that you rest. A minimum of 8 hours of sleep is necessary for any adult being.
  • Try to avoid processed or fried foods and make sure that your plates include enough vegetables and fruits. A healthy platter does wonders for one’s health.
  • If you are feeling disturbed or upset about something, talk to your near and dear ones; you can also consult a specialist if you need. Just like physical health, mental health is also something that is to be considered important. When we fall ill, we have medicines; similarly, if someone is feeling mentally unwell, they should consult a specialist.

With the COVID19 pandemic going on for the past two years, one should take the following precautions to avoid getting affected by the virus. Here are some simple steps one can follow:

  • Always put on a mask whenever you step out of your houses. This is applicable to people of all ages.
  • Everyone should avoid going to crowded places as there is a high risk of getting affected.
  • If you feel you are affected by the virus, seclude yourself from the rest of your family members and keep in touch with your doctors so that everything is monitored and you stay out of danger.
  • Try to eat healthy food and fruits that’ll help you develop immunity.

Speech on Health is Wealth for Students

Health is wealth speech 1.

Good morning to my respected teachers and all my classmates. As we have gathered here to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I would like to give a speech on health as wealth as we all know the common saying that health is wealth, but I do not think that we follow this proverb in our daily life to get maintained. We all know well that good health leads to a good way; however, no one takes care of our health. If we are not living in discipline and following nature’s rules, we can never become healthy in life and never reach success.

We have been given two legs and two hands to walk and do work; however, if we are not properly using our organs, it is our fault that leads us to failure. Most people spend their whole day and night just sitting or lying in bed for most days of the week and months. They are just like fish without swimming and birds without flying. Can you imagine what will happen if fishes do not swim or birds do not fly? Most commonly, they easily would be the food of big animals, and slowly their species would get destroyed. In this way, people with more comfort in their lives cannot be so healthy.

Some decades ago, people were strong and healthy because they were used to walking for long-distance, and they had to perform every household chores own. In recent decades, the growth of technologies has been speedy manner has decreased man’s efforts in every walk of life. Earlier, the life of our grandparents was good, and their livelihood was very healthy because of hunting, farming, plowing, harvesting, planting, walking, running, etc. Nowadays, almost every person of any age group suffers from diseases (like high blood pressure, heart attack, gout, stress-related disease, etc.).

To keep ourselves healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and intellectually, we need to be active daily, including a well-maintained diet, exercises, positive thinking, and following good habits. We need to be disciplined in every walk of life.

Health is Wealth Speech 2

Good morning to the respected Principal, teachers, and all my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this great occasion, I would like to give a speech on health is wealth. It is a most common saying that we generally listen to our grandparents, parents, and teachers. But, I want to ask you how many of us have to think about and follow this remedy in our lives. We all know that what is ‘health is wealth,’ but has anyone of us thought of its real meaning. Nowadays, people have been so busy that they have no time for their health maintenance, doing exercises, talking to family members, friends, neighbors, etc., because of increasing competition and technologies.

We should never forget that there is nothing in our life without health. Health is more valuable for us than other things in life because it is the only successful tool. Unhealthy people can never get the real joy and peace of life. This famous proverb tells us that health is more valuable than money and other precious things worldwide. If we suffer from any disease, money can only help us get medicine and limited relief; however, it cannot obliterate diseases from the body. If we get relief from one disease, it will leave other diseases as a complication. It means a weak and unhealthy body calls many diseases one by one, which we never can be free of.

We need to keep ourselves healthy and happy to cope with all life’s problems easily. We can be healthy through proper and daily exercises, morning walks, a healthy diet, following good habits, a disciplined lifestyle, and positive thinking. A healthy body keeps the body, mind, and soul happy and peaceful. A healthy person becomes completely free from the illnesses in body and mind and thus enjoys stable health and happiness. Healthy people of any age group depend upon several factors like food, physical activity, pollution, sleeping habits, way of thinking, mental condition, water, air, sunlight, etc. With physical exercises, proper body care is also very necessary. Unhealthy people spend their whole lives suffering from diseases and complaining to others about their condition. Life is wonderful if it is lived in the right direction. Please do not waste it by being diseased; instead, live it happily. My motto for today’s speech on this topic is only to share my feelings with all of you for our wellness.

Health is Wealth Speech 3

Good morning to the respected teachers and all my dear friends. I want to speak over the common saying ‘health is wealth’ on this auspicious occasion. I know that every one of us is well recognized with this proverb; however, only a few people follow this strategy in their life. The real meaning of this proverb is that the one who has good health becomes the happiest person in the world, even from the rich people. Whether a person is rich or poor, he would be unhappy if he suffered any disease or disability. This proverb means a lot for all of us if we strictly understand and follow this remedy. Conditions never ask a person for richness or poorness; they affect the person if found weak and unhealthy.

Health is wealth proverb compares the value of health with wealth and indicates that health is more valuable than wealth. When a rich person gets diseased, he becomes more unhappy than a poor healthy person. Their life becomes useless instead of having lots of money. Money cannot buy happiness and healthy life; it can only give comfort and joy for a limited time; however, good health always goes together in every bad and good condition. Good health makes a person (healthy or poor) happy and cheerful forever. A healthy person lives a better life than a rich person. They feel no burden to them and live a stress-free life.

A healthy person can be healthy in every walk of life. However, an unhealthy person cannot bear a little problematic condition. Being healthy is not so costly; one needs to maintain a timely diet, a healthy lifestyle, and daily physical exercises. Some people save their money for future purposes but do not take care of their health; saving money is a good habit, but declining health is not good for the future. People should maintain their health together, saving money.

Health is Wealth Speech 4

Speech on Health and Fitness for Students and Children

Speech on health and fitness.

Hello everyone. I am here to present a speech on health and fitness. The very known two terms to us are the word ‘health’ and ‘fitness’. Many times we tell or use these words whenever we say phrases like ‘health is wealth’ and ‘fitness is the key’. What does the word health really mean? It implies the idea of ‘being well’. A healthy and fit person is the one when he/she can function well physically as well as mentally. Proper health and fitness do not depend on our own but also on our physical environment and the quality of food intake.

Health and fitness is the most important aspect of our life.  There is nothing more important than health for any human being.  When we are healthy and fit we are able to enjoy our life well. We can talk to our near and dear one, we can laugh, smile, travel, enjoy food, and sleep well.

But when our health and fitness is not up to the mark, we are unable to do anything properly and stay behind. We cannot enjoy eating, watching sports or movies.  Our mood always remains negative and we are unable to talk nicely with our near and dear or even sleep properly.

Our health and fitness are more valued than our wealth.  In fact, our elders were always been focused on the health and fitness part. They treasure it like wealth. To maintain good health and fitness at its best all the time, we need to take care of hygiene and sanitation around us.

We must eat a healthy and complete diet.  We must eat vegetables, milk, egg, etc. Everyone should make a diet chart and ensure that we take a sufficient amount of carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, and vitamins.  Apart from eating we must maintain cleanliness in our room, house and nearby surroundings.

Well, there are many factors that are responsible for the staggering health and fitness graph. But the major reason is the personal habit and living style of people. A human body requires 20 gm fat per day. The consumption of just a regular pizza adds 10 grams of fat to the human body; a whopper burger blesses you with 13 gm fat and 100 gm French fries promote 15 gm fat to your body.

All the junk foods are destroying people’s health and fitness these days. Due to the fast-paced life, people are concerned about filling their stomachs rather than considering what they are eating and its effect on their health and body.

Health and Fitness tips

As we know that health and fitness play an important role in our overall wellbeing so we should try for a good balance between mind, body, and soul. I have some suggested activities to maintain proper health and fitness. One can start playing games and sports. An active body can metabolize well and so keep us in good shape.

Yoga has got a lot of health and fitness benefits such as flexibility, burn calories, increase blood flow, boosts immunity. Proper food selection leads to eating healthy. The intake of vitamins found in vegetables and fruits, proteins found in whole grains and lean meat keeps us healthy. Eat foods that have less oil are good to control cholesterol levels.

Avoid smoking and drinking as they affect our sleep which is important for the body to remain healthy and in good shape. Exercising improves the general health of the body. One must take at least thirty minutes a day to do some exercises or walk.

As told by Dalai Lama “Happiness is the highest form of health”. Happiness will come only when we will be healthy and fit. But today we live in a world where we value things more than people, work more than family, food more than health and status more than life.

We rush after money and social status and we forget about our health. What’s the value of life if we don’t live healthy and fit. This absurd attitude has ruined our lives and it will continue to do so unless we open up our eyes and see the reality.

Speech on Health and Fitness

Speech on Health and Fitness (1000+ Words)

Respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends,

Keeping oneself healthy is crucial as it is said that “health is wealth.” Regular exercise helps in maintaining fitness and keeping one’s mind alert. Good health ensures an active and agile mind, just as a person’s mental state reflects their physical health, a weak and unhealthy body affects their mental well-being.

Several recent studies have revealed that the fast-paced and stressful lifestyle of today’s era is responsible for various health conditions, especially heart and neurological problems. Being fit and healthy can help people maintain a positive outlook towards life and work.

Life is meant to be lived joyfully and positively, despite the obstacles and challenges we face. To enjoy the good things in life and tackle its difficulties, one requires the energy and enthusiasm that only a healthy and fit body can provide.

The journey towards good health starts right from childhood. It depends on how a mother maintains her health and fitness, consumes a balanced diet, and ensures that the environment where they reside is hygienic. These are the two fundamental requirements for a healthy mother and baby. Unfortunately, many children still suffer from dreaded diseases like polio, diphtheria, and typhoid. Hence, prevention is key to maintaining children’s health.

Parents have a great love for their children and want them to grow up healthy, brilliant, and intelligent. It is the basic responsibility of parents to ensure the physical and mental well-being of their children. However, the health and fitness of children are equally important to others as they are the future of the country and the hope of everyone.

As the saying goes, “A child is the father of a man.” The growth and development of a child determine the quality of the adult they will become. A healthy child is likely to grow into a healthy and fit man who can be a valuable resource for the country, society, and humanity. It is not wrong for others to come forward and extend their services to help children maintain good health and fitness.

Various people such as educators, neighbors, friends, athletes , coaches, trainers, media, social workers, doctors, and gymnasts can play a significant role in inspiring children to adopt good health and fitness practices.

Schools also provide children with opportunities to develop their physical and mental standards. Good health has always been valuable, but it is even more critical in today’s competitive age where life has become exceptionally quick and stressful right from the beginning.

In today’s world, where educational standards are high and competition is tough, students are expected to study hard and sit in the classroom for extended periods. To ensure that students learn well and maintain good health and fitness, educational institutions need to give equal importance to physical exercises and leisure activities.

When we think of good schools and educational institutions, we often remember those with excellent facilities for sports and other activities that provide physical exercise and entertainment to the students. After extended periods of study and mental work, students require outdoor exercises to refresh their minds.

Every individual with good academic records and sound health is certain to achieve their goals in life, regardless of their chosen career. Good education and health and fitness enable a person to face challenges confidently, leading to progress and success.

A closer look reveals that individuals with good health and fitness perform better in their personal and professional lives. Physical and mental health are equally important for better performance and results. Therefore, everyone needs to prioritize good health to become a result-oriented individual.

Good health and fitness can compensate for a lack of talent in a person’s profession. Working hard on the farm to earn a living requires a lot of physical effort, but it also brings mental satisfaction and a good night’s sleep. In addition, a physically and mentally strong person can contribute more to society and receive recognition from others.

Many professions require good health and fitness as primary qualifications. The armed forces, paramilitary, police, and other forces require individuals who are physically fit and mentally alert. We have witnessed many heroic acts by individuals in these forces who have received awards for their bravery and valor under extreme conditions.

In addition, the private sector also values a well-built appearance along with professional skills. Health is of great importance everywhere, and it is an asset throughout one’s life. Positive thoughts from a healthy mind bring a sparkle to a person’s face, while negative thoughts and illness can lead to a cycle of reactions, which can have a detrimental impact on both the mind and body.

Improving healthcare and fitness is crucial because there is undeniable value in good health. However, many rural areas lack healthcare facilities and suffer from a shortage of doctors and medication. Consequently, people with multiple illnesses or injuries cannot receive adequate treatment. Even if they travel to larger cities, poor individuals may be unable to afford private hospital treatment for major diseases.

Despite the importance of medical facilities, increased awareness is necessary for maintaining good health and physical fitness. Individuals who are mindful of their health and fitness can join yoga camps or gyms, serving as a source of inspiration for others. By adopting healthy lifestyles, people can become disease-free and enjoy better health and well-being.

Furthermore, freeing oneself from unhealthy and negative thoughts like self-indulgence can foster the will to improve one’s body and mind, reducing illnesses with psychological origins. As a result, individuals can experience superior mental and physical health.

With this, I conclude my speech. Thank you all for your patience and cooperation.
