What is Range Rover’s Autobiography trim?
October 14, 2015 by carwow staff
The Range Rover has been one of the ultimate expressions of luxury motoring ever since the first model was released back in 1970. Now in its fourth generation, it competes with the finest executive saloons, offering a comfy ride, and smooth, refined power from a selection of V6 and V8 petrol and diesel engines.
Both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are available in several different trim levels, one of which is Autobiography. So what does it offer, and where does it fit into each respective range?
Put either the Range Rover or the Range Rover Sport in our car configurator to see how much carwow could help you save.
There are three distinct trim levels for the Range Rover – Vogue, Vogue SE and Autobiography. The Sport is available in HSE, Autobiography or ultra-sporty SVR variants. The Vogue is overflowing with advanced in-car tech, fine materials and a huge selection of exterior colours and alloy wheel designs.
The Autobiography, however, adds numerous standard features which are optional further down the range. Those looking for a more accommodating rear seat experience can opt for the Autobiography Long Wheelbase (LWB) for an additional £7,400. For an extra £9,050 on top of the cost of the Vogue SE, the Autobiography gains:
Semi-aniline leather upholstery – while many car interiors feature leather coated with a pigment to colour its surface, aniline leather uses soluble dyes that soak into the hide. This lends the surface a softer, more natural finish, and reveals the natural grain of the leather more prominently.
Winged headrests – These soft, pillow-like headrests are electrically adjustable, and can wrap around the back of your head for the ultimate in squishy splendour.
Four zone climate control – allows each passenger to individually adjust the temperature settings. In lesser models a three-zone system is fitted, forcing the rear seat passengers to agree on one temperature.
Illuminated tread plates – upon opening the doors, occupants are treated to aluminium-trimmed door sills, with glowing “Autobiography” script.
Surround camera system – a series of cameras allow the central screen to display a bird’s-eye view of the car to the driver – ideal for parking or navigating through tight spaces.
On-board WiFi – allowing users to surf the web while on the move.
Remote pack heat with timed climate – the car can be pre-heated or chilled, based on a timer system. It can be set to perform the process weekly, or as a single event up to 16 days in advance.
Rear seat entertainment – Includes two 10.2-inch screens mounted to the back of the front seats, two pairs of headphones, a remote control and additional 12V and USB ports. This is fitted as standard to the LWB, and is optional for the regular Autobiography.
Still not plush enough?
Beyond the standard Autobiography is the SVAutobiography. Often defined by its two-tone paint finish, it adds further luxurious features and customisation options, and is positioned to take on ultra-high end SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga . It’s priced from approximately £150,000.

The Land Rover Buying Guide: Every Model, Explained
Rugged and synonymous with prestige, Land Rovers fit in on the trails and on Rodeo Drive.
By Tyler Duffy
Welcome to Brand Breakdown , a series of comprehensive yet easy-to-digest guides to your favorite companies, with insights and information you won’t find on the average About page.
A History of Land Rover
Land Rover is a British automaker that produces luxury four-wheel-drive vehicles. The brand technically began in 1948 when the Rover Company launched the Land Rover Series of off-road vehicles. British Leyland took the brand upmarket with the Range Rover in 1970 and branched off Land Rover into a distinct brand from now-defunct Rover in 1978. Land Rover was later owned by BMW and Ford. Current owner Tata Motors bought Land Rover from Ford in 2008, merging it with Jaguar to form Jaguar Land Rover .
Land Rover has gone full-on luxury these days, but the brand maintains its reputation for off-road capability. Land Rover does not give its vehicles “Trail Rated” badges like Jeep ; it’s presumed — since they carry the name Land Rover — that they are able to do that (yes, even the Evoque). The flipside is Land Rover’s not especially stellar reputation for reliability.
In 2021, Jaguar Land Rover embarked on a new product strategy called “Reimagine .” The Land Rover lineup will shift dramatically toward electrification. Land Rover plans to launch its first EV in 2024 and six within the next five years. By 2030, Land Rover expects every model to have an EV option and EVs to make up 60 percent of Land Rover sales.
Wait, Isn’t Land Rover a “House of Brands” Now?
Sort of. Jaguar Land Rover recently rebranded itself as “JLR,” and as part of that change, the company announced a new “House of Brands” strategy that will see it become four brands (Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, Jaguar) instead of the traditional pairing of Jaguar and Land Rover.
What does this mean for Land Rover? Not a lot, really.
Buyers won’t notice anything different. Range Rover, Defender and Discovery vehicles will still carry Land Rover badging, and you will still visit a Land Rover dealer to buy them. Effectively, what this does is diminish Jaguar — set to become a more low-volume, high-end EV brand — within the portfolio in favor of the more popular Land Rover wing.
Land Rover Terms You Should Know
HSE: Stands for “High Specification Equipment.” This is a higher-than-standard trim level offered on most Land Rover models. SVO and SVR: SVO stands for “Special Vehicles Operations,” the brand’s high-performance wing. The highest-performance vehicles under the SVO wing replace the O with an R, which stands for “racing.” SVO and SVR trims aren’t available across the board, but vehicles that sport the trim level are, in scientific terms, “fun as hell.” Autobiography : This is a Range Rover trim offered on the Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport and the Evoque. This trim is fancy. It will have luxury finishes, an array of standard features and come at a significantly higher price point. Dynamic: This is a term affixed to Range Rover trims. These cars are more aggressive and dynamic than non-dynamic trims. That can mean styling. It can also mean a more powerful engine. Range Rover: Land Rover has equity in “Range Rover” as a luxury brand. Thus, four of the seven vehicles are “Range Rovers.” These cars tend to be referred to as just “Range Rovers” because “Land Rover Range Rover X” is a mouthful. Sport : Smaller version. The Range Rover Sport is smaller than the Range Rover. The Discovery Sport is smaller than the Discovery.
The Land Rover Buying Guide
Range rover.
The Range Rover is Land Rover’s flagship, full-size luxury SUV. The first model was one of the most influential cars ever built . The current fifth-generation model is all-new for 2022 . And with the new House of Brands strategy you can, officially, just call it a Range Rover and avoid the Land Rover Range Rover mouthful.
The Range Rover comes in standard wheelbase (SWB) or long wheelbase (LWB) versions with the option for a third row of seats. Currently, you can order a Range Rover with either inline-six or V8 powertrains. A six-cylinder PHEV version entered the lineup for the 2023 model year. Four-wheel steering is now standard across the lineup. The price tag now starts above $100,000.

- Land Rover Discovery Sport S
- Land Rover Discovery Sport Dynamic SE
Base MSRP: $48,900
Land Rover Defender
The Land Rover Defender is Land Rover’s original overland vehicle, the British equivalent of the Jeep Wrangler . Before 1983, it was just known as the “Land Rover.” Land Rover produced a brief run of “NAS” Defenders sold in North America from 1993 to 1997. JLR discontinued the body-on-frame Defender’s continuous production run in 2016. Land Rover revived the Defender nameplate in 2020 with a new unibody SUV. It won the World Car Design of the Year award for 2021 .
The Defender now comes in three body styles: a two-door Defender 90, a four-door Defender 110 and a three-row Defender 130 . The numerical designations no longer track precisely with the Defender wheelbase. It comes with inline-four, inline-six or now a supercharged V8 powertrain .
D90 Models:
- Defender 90
- Defender X-Dynamic
- Defender V8
- Defender V8 Carpathian Edition

Range Rover HSE vs Autobiography: which model is better?
- May 1, 2023
- March 22, 2024
Two of the most popular trims are the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography, so let’s take a closer look at the differences.
The Range Rover HSE is a step up from the base model with a 3.0-liter V6 engine with many features making the upgrade worthwhile. The Range Rover Autobiography is the top of the line model with a 5.0-liter V8 engine with every feature imagined included.
However, all these bells and whistles come at a steep price, so it’s important to consider whether the extra features are worth the additional cost.
Let’s take a look further at the comparison of the Range Rover HSE vs Autobiography.
Range Rover HSE vs Autobiography: what’s the difference?
If you’re in the market for a luxury SUV, you might be considering the Range Rover HSE or Autobiography.
Here are key points we’ll cover:
- The Autobiography is the more expensive option, but it offers more premium features and a more powerful engine.
- The HSE is more affordable but still offers a comfortable and luxurious ride.
- Both models have similar fuel efficiency ratings, but the Autobiography has a slightly larger fuel tank.
- The Autobiography offers more advanced safety features, such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
- The HSE is a great option for those who want a luxury SUV without breaking the bank, while the Autobiography is perfect for those who want the ultimate luxury experience.
Both models offer impressive features and capabilities but have some key differences that may influence your decision.
Performance
When it comes to performance, the HSE and Autobiography both offer powerful engines and smooth handling.
However, the Autobiography comes with a supercharged V8 engine that delivers even more horsepower and torque than the HSE.
The Autobiography may be the better choice if you’re looking for the ultimate driving experience.
One of the biggest differences between the HSE and Autobiography is the interior.
While both models offer luxurious amenities like leather seats and wood trim, the Autobiography takes things to the next level with additional features like:
- Executive Class Rear Seats
- Refrigerated Compartment
- Meridian Signature Sound System
The Autobiography is the clear winner if you’re looking for the ultimate in comfort and convenience.
Of course, all of these features come at a price.
The Autobiography is significantly more expensive than the HSE, with a starting price that’s about $40,000 higher.
The HSE might be the better choice if you’re on a budget.
Exterior design
When it comes to the exterior design of the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography, there are some notable differences.
Both models have a sleek and modern appearance, but the Autobiography stands out with its unique front and rear bumpers and it’s premium diamond-turned wheels.
One of the most significant differences between the HSE and Autobiography is the range of colors available.
While the HSE comes in a variety of colors, the Autobiography offers a more extensive range of exclusive colors, including Balmoral Blue and Flux Silver.
The Autobiography also offers a two-tone color scheme, which allows you to choose a contrasting roof color for a more personalized look.
In addition to the standard colors, both models offer a range of optional extras, including black exterior packages and gloss black wheels.
The Autobiography also offers a unique exterior styling package that includes a black contrast roof, black exterior accents, and 22-inch wheels.
Overall, the Range Rover Autobiography offers a more exclusive and personalized exterior design, with a wider range of colors and unique styling features.
However, the Range Rover HSE still offers a sleek and modern appearance, with a range of optional extras to help you customize your vehicle to your liking.
Interior design
When it comes to the interior design of the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography, you can expect nothing but luxury and elegance.
From the finest materials to the latest technology, every detail has been carefully crafted to provide you with the ultimate driving experience.
Both the HSE and Autobiography offer a variety of color options to choose from.
The HSE comes with standard colors such as Ebony, Almond, and Espresso, while the Autobiography offers a wider range of colors including Ivory, Cirrus, Eclipse, ECLP, Espres, PIM, VIN Tan, and Pimento.
The choice of colors available for both models allows you to personalize your vehicle to your taste.
Trim options
The Range Rover Autobiography takes the interior design to the next level by offering a choice of two premium trim options.
The first option is the Perforated Diamond-Cut Semi-Aniline Lthr Seat Trim, which comes with a unique diamond pattern and is available in a range of colors.
The second option is the Perforated Windsor Leather Seat Trim, which is available in Alm, Eclip, Ebny, Pimento, and Cir colors.
The HSE comes with the standard Windsor Leather Seat Trim.
The HSE and Autobiography have the latest technology features to enhance your driving experience.
The infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, allowing you to connect your smartphone and access your favorite apps.
The Meridian Sound System is also available as an option, providing a premium audio experience.
In conclusion, the interior design of the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography is a testament to the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into every vehicle.
Whether you choose the HSE or Autobiography, you can be sure that you will be driving in luxury and comfort.
Regarding performance, the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography are equipped with powerful petrol or diesel engines that deliver impressive performance on the road.
Let’s take a closer look at the engine performance of these two models.
Both the HSE and Autobiography come with a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine that delivers 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth and responsive shifting.
The Range Rover Autobiography offers an optional 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine that delivers an impressive 518 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is also paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of acceleration, the HSE can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.9 seconds, while the Autobiography can do it in just 5.1 seconds with the V8 engine.
The HSE has a top speed of 130 mph, while the Autobiography with the V8 engine can reach a top speed of 155 mph.
The HSE and Autobiography offer impressive handling and agility on the road, thanks to their advanced suspension systems and all-wheel drive capabilities.
The Autobiography, however, features an adaptive dynamics system that helps to further enhance its performance and handling.
Terrain response
When it comes to off-roading, Terrain Response is one of the most important features of any Range Rover.
It is a system that adjusts the vehicle’s settings to suit different types of terrain, such as mud, sand, or snow.
The HSE and Autobiography trims both come with Terrain Response as standard, but there are some differences in the details.
On the HSE, Terrain Response is a single-speed system that adjusts the vehicle’s settings for five different types of terrain: General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, Sand, and Rock Crawl.
The system uses sensors to detect the type of terrain you are driving on and adjusts the vehicle’s settings accordingly.
For example, in Sand mode, the system will adjust the throttle response, transmission, and traction control to help you maintain traction in loose sand.
On the Autobiography, Terrain Response is a two-speed system that adds an additional mode for more extreme off-roading.
In addition to the five modes on the HSE, the Autobiography also has a Low Range mode for crawling over rocks or steep inclines.
Low Range mode reduces the vehicle’s speed and increases its torque, making it easier to navigate difficult terrain.
Overall, both the HSE and Autobiography trims offer excellent off-road capabilities thanks to Terrain Response.
The Autobiography’s additional Low Range mode may give it a slight advantage in extreme off-roading situations, but for most drivers, the HSE’s single-speed system should be more than sufficient.
Brake calipers
When it comes to the brake calipers on the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography, there are some notable differences.
The HSE comes with Evoque size brake calipers, while the Autobiography comes with Brembo calipers.
Brembo is a well-known brand in the automotive industry and is often associated with high-performance vehicles.
The Brembo calipers are larger and more powerful than the Evoque size calipers found on the HSE.
This means that the Autobiography will have better braking performance than the HSE.
However, it’s important to note that the HSE is still equipped with quality brake calipers.
The Evoque size calipers are still more than capable of providing reliable and effective braking.
In addition to the differences in performance, there are also differences in appearance.
The Brembo calipers on the Autobiography have a distinctive red color, which can add a sporty and aggressive look to the vehicle.
The Evoque size calipers on the HSE are not as eye-catching, but still have a sleek and stylish appearance.
Overall, while the Autobiography’s Brembo calipers do offer better braking performance, the Evoque size calipers on the HSE are still a quality option.
The decision between the two ultimately comes down to personal preference and driving needs.
Here is a quick comparison of the brake calipers on the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography:
Parking assist
When it comes to parking, the Range Rover HSE and Autobiography models come with a range of advanced features to make the task easier and more efficient.
One of these features is Parking Assist, which can help you park your vehicle with greater precision and ease.
With Parking Assist, you can rely on your Range Rover to find an appropriate-sized parking spot and park itself fully.
The system relies on several sensors placed around the vehicle to detect the space and ensure that the SUV won’t get too close to other cars or obstacles.
Once you have switched on the Parking Assist feature, it uses sensors around your Range Rover to measure up potential parking spaces as you drive past.
Once it has detected a space that is 20% or more greater than your vehicle, it asks you to stop, let go of the steering wheel, and select reverse gear via the touchscreen.
The system will then take over and steer the vehicle into the parking space.
Parking Assist can be especially useful when parking in tight spaces or parallel parking, where it can be challenging to judge the distance between your vehicle and other cars or obstacles.
With Parking Assist, you can park your Range Rover with greater accuracy and confidence.
It is worth noting that Parking Assist is not a substitute for safe driving practices.
It is still important to remain alert and aware of your surroundings while parking your vehicle.
Parking Assist is simply a tool to help make the task of parking easier and more efficient.

Breathtaking modernity
The fifth-generation luxury SUV takes the Land Rover brand’s modernist design philosophy to the next level, with a contemporary interpretation of its trademark profile to create an incredible design statement. It continues to lead, bringing breathtaking modernity, aesthetic grace and sophistication to the latest flagship.
The New Range Rover is a vehicle with a peerless character, from the impeccable restraint of its exterior to the flawless tranquil sanctuary of its cabin. Informed by creative intellect and a desire for perfection, it doesn’t follow fashion or trend, but by a modernist design philosophy, combined with over 50 years of evolution, it is quite simply the most desirable Range Rover ever created.
Prof Gerry McGovern OBE
Chief creative officer, jaguar land rover.
The New Range Rover is defined by three lines that can trace their origins back through the generations; the falling roofline, strong waistline and rising sill line. These trademark features combine with a characteristically short front overhang and a distinctive new boat tail rear – complete with practical split tailgate – to create an elegant profile that conveys peerless presence of the Range Rover.
The unbroken waistline showcases the Land Rover brand’s attention to detail as the rounded edge of the door meets the glass in a simple, clean finish thanks to a specially engineered hidden waist finisher. The design-enabling technology combines with flush glazing, hidden-until-lit lighting and precise detailing to create the impression that the vehicle has been milled from solid.
The luxurious interior is underpinned by modern, intuitive and relevant technologies, designed to work harmoniously with the finest materials and wellbeing innovations to create a calm sanctuary for all occupants – turning every trip into an experience to savor.
The exterior color palette elevates the elegant proportions and clean surfaces of the New Range Rover while the interior options are more sustainable, responsible and progressive than ever. Customers have a wider choice of materials and finishes, including innovative textiles and tactile Ultrafabrics™ with a continuation of the Land Rover brand’s pioneering relationship with Kvadrat™ – Europe’s leading manufacturer of premium textiles.
HERO FILM: INTRODUCING THE NEW RANGE ROVER AND RANGE ROVER SV
Peerless refinement
The New Range Rover makes every journey an occasion to be remembered, combining advanced technology with modern luxury to deliver peerless refinement for every occupant, including those in the new optional third-row seats. By eliminating unwanted noises, vibrations and distractions – and reducing the cognitive load on the driver and passengers – occupants will arrive at their destination feeling refreshed.
Advanced speaker technology builds on the fundamental refinement provided by the MLA-Flex body architecture to deliver serene cabin calmness – ensuring passengers enjoy a first-class experience. It uses the 1,600W Meridian™ Signature Sound System (not available on SE; standard on Autobiography and First Edition models) to create one of the quietest vehicle interiors on the road, with additional 20W speakers in the four main headrests for the most immersive sound experience.
Included with the Meridian™ Signature Sound System, the third-generation Active Noise Cancellation system monitors wheel vibrations, tire noise and engine sounds transmitted into the cabin and generates a cancelling signal, which is played through the system’s 35 speakers. These include a pair of 60mm diameter speakers in the headrests for each of the four main cabin occupants, which create personal quiet zones similar to the effect when using high-end headphones.
The Range Rover was the first luxury SUV to feature Electronic Air Suspension in 1992. The New Range Rover continues this pioneering approach with Dynamic Response Pro and pre-emptive suspension that uses eHorizon Navigation data to read the road ahead and prime the suspension to provide appropriate responses.(7)
The intelligent technology also works in conjunction with the Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist to smooth out body movements resulting from sudden changes in speed.(7_ Fully independent suspension underpins the luxurious ride and features the Land Rover brand’s first ever five-link rear axle, which isolates the cabin from surface imperfections more effectively than ever using advanced air springs.
The New Range Rover is also the first Land Rover vehicle to feature optional Power Assisted Doors – available at 2023 model year – with integrated hazard detection and anti-pinch features, which enhance its Soft Door Close capability and ensure every trip begins and ends with effortless refinement and sophistication. All four passenger doors are power assisted – also controlled via the Pivi Pro(6) screen – for elegant entry and exit, including at angles of up to 10 degrees while off-road. Advanced hazard detection means the doors can automatically pause until the sweep of the door is cleared(7). The practical two-piece split tailgate that has been a Range Rover hallmark since 1970 is updated for 2022, with a series of new technologies providing greater versatility and convenience.
Inside, the new optional Versatile Loadspace Floor protects luggage and enhances convenience. Its clever floor panel can be raised forward, across the width of the load area around its mid-point, forming a partition to contain smaller items and keep them within easy reach when unloading. It can also pivot backwards along its leading edge to serve as a backrest when using the lower tailgate as outdoor seating. The new optional Tailgate Event Suite takes the Versatile Loadspace Floor backrest concept to new heights, combining additional lighting, audio features and tailored leather cushions to create the perfect vantage point for outdoor relaxation.
Five-seat models debut a new Auto-Folding Loadspace Cover. Combining the practicality of a rigid cover with the convenience of a retractable design, it elegantly retreats when the upper tailgate is opened to provide unrestricted access to the load area, without opening the lower tailgate.
Seamless technology
The New Range Rover maintains its rich bloodline of pioneering innovation with a suite of technologies designed to effortlessly enhance convenience, efficiency, refinement and safety. The latest Electrical Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0) on Land Rover vehicles, is the enabler-in-chief and includes Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA) updates for more than 70 electronic modules, meaning the New Range Rover will constantly evolve, improve and remain up to date as it matures.
The New Range Rover revolutionizes the in-car experience with seamlessly integrated Amazon Alexa(1). Using intuitive natural voice commands goes one step beyond touchscreen or button interfaces in helping reduce cognitive load, providing a sense of effortless modern luxury. In this way, Alexa capabilities allow customers to manage everything from favorite infotainment features and music track selection to navigation or phone contacts – all while keeping their hands on the wheel, and eyes on the road.8
Alexa(1) voice AI is embedded within the New Range Rover, so users experience seamless interactivity and next-level convenience. Alexa capabilities also allow customers to check the news, weather and for any scheduled meetings using simple voice commands.8 The system can even turn on your lights at home and connect to other Alexa-enabled devices.
Alexa(1) works in addition to Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Wireless Android Auto™ and can be initiated either by saying “Alexa” or pressing the Alexa button on the central touchscreen 4 . It does not need a phone or external device to operate – only details of a customer’s Amazon account and an internet connection – while wireless charging for Qi compatible smartphones keeps devices topped up.
SiriusXM with 360L(3) debuts on 2022 Range Rover, offering an extensive and personalized radio experience on the road. The advanced in-car technology guides users through the largest in-car catalogue of SiriusXM channels, shows and exclusive content for a ride that's unique to the driver. Users will enjoy a variety of ad-free music, plus sports, news and talk — and for the first time, experience SiriusXM’s on-demand content, ad-free personalized Pandora stations and curated recommendations for each vehicle.
The New Range Rover combines supreme on-road and all-terrain capability with electrified propulsion and new levels of connected capability. In the quest for comfort, we have been obsessed with human science and understanding brain activity to minimize cognitive impact and ensure these advanced technologies work in absolute harmony, creating a truly effortless driving experience. It’s an engineer’s duty to make people’s lives better, and that’s exactly what the New Range Rover will do for you.
Nick Rogers
Executive director, product engineering, jaguar land rover.
THE NEW RANGE ROVER SWB
The New Range Rover elevates the Land Rover brand’s award-winning Pivi Pro infotainment technology6 with its largest ever touchscreen. The 13.1-inch curved, floating screen embodies the architectural lightness of the interior with a minimalist frame design. It provides intuitive control of all the major vehicle functions, using the latest consumer technology to deliver a smartphone-inspired interface, allied to convenient hard switches for the climate control.
Pivi Pro(6) works in harmony with an elegant new semi-floating 13.7-inch Interactive Driver Display, which features new high-definition graphics based around a three-panel layout that intuitively reflects the design of the Pivi Pro homescreen. Customers can choose from a variety of configurations, including a conventional analogue layout, using the steering wheel controls.
For the first time in a Land Rover vehicle, the central display will provide haptic feedback when customers touch and press the screen. Allowing users to feel a positive confirmation without the need to glance at the screen, it reduces the need to look away from the road and makes Pivi Pro even more intuitive(6).
Rear passengers can enjoy a new optional Rear Seat Entertainment system, which provides adjustable 11.4-inch HD touchscreens mounted on the rear of the front seatbacks. They can be operated independently and support the connection of most devices with an HDMI port, while using Wi-Fi hotspot9 capability means rear-seat passengers can enjoy smart TV entertainment on the move. The available eight-inch Rear Seat Touchscreen Controller mounted in the center armrest of Executive Class Rear Seats provides quick and intuitive control for the perfect seating position, elevating the luxurious rear-seat experience.
New Maneuvering Lights help drivers complete low-speed maneuvers in dimly lit surroundings with complete confidence, by creating a blanket of light around the perimeter of the vehicle, working with the 3D Surround Camera system to provide maneuverability(7).
Serene capability and composure
The flagship of the Land Rover family represents the pinnacle of refined capability thanks to advanced hardware and software systems working in complete harmony, enabled by the new MLA-Flex body architecture. This unrivalled breadth of dynamic capability is governed by the brand’s Integrated Chassis Control – a single control system for a suite of advanced technologies that tailor the vehicle dynamics to suit every mile of every journey, to pre-emptively and reactively fine-tune the driving characteristics.
The New Range Rover combines advanced hardware with a pioneering toolkit of digital technologies and software, all enabled by our advanced electrical architecture – moving Range Rover from a mechanical world to a mechatronic ecosystem that delivers an intuitive drive. Our new Integrated Chassis Control system is a prime example of this philosophy and co-ordinates a suite of predictive and reactive technologies, that make this the most comfortable and agile Range Rover ever produced.
Rory O’Murchu
Vehicle line director, jaguar land rover.
Every New Range Rover features All-Wheel Steering for an effortless drive with heightened stability at speed and improved maneuverability at low speeds, ensuring it is equally at home on the open road and negotiating tight urban streets 7 .
The electrically operated rear axle provides up to seven degrees of steering angle and, at low speeds, turns out-of-phase of the front wheels, giving the New Range Rover a turning circle of 36 feet – the smallest of any Land Rover vehicle. At higher speeds the rear axle turns in phase with the front wheels for enhanced stability and comfort.
The New Range Rover is also the first Land Rover vehicle to feature Dynamic Response Pro. The powerful new active 48-volt electronic roll control system is faster-acting and more efficient than a hydraulic set-up, with a torque capacity of over 1,000 lb-ft fed into the rollover protection system to keep body movements under control7.
Fully independent air suspension isolates the cabin from surface imperfections more effectively than ever, for serene composure. It combines air springs volumes with twin-valve dampers – all managed by in-house-developed Adaptive Dynamics control software7.
The intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD) transmission is controlled by the Land Rover brand’s Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) system, which monitors grip levels and driver inputs 100 times a second to predictively distribute torque between the front and rear axles, and across the rear axle, for optimum traction on and off-road 7 .
Every Range Rover also features an Active Locking Rear Differential. This optimizes traction from the rear axle during cornering, on slippery surfaces and during off-road wheel articulation, delivering enhanced capability and driver confidence7.
All of this technology feeds into the Land Rover brand’s award-winning Terrain Response® 2 system, which harnesses the various chassis systems to automatically provide the perfect settings for the surroundings, from a choice of six driving modes, to minimize driver workload across various terrains. Alternatively, the driver can select the most appropriate setting manually or, use Configurable Terrain Response® to create a bespoke chassis set-up7.
Electrified efficiency
The New Range Rover maintains its compelling combination of effortless performance and peerless refinement with a comprehensive line-up of advanced six- and eight-cylinder powertrains. Spearheading the Land Rover brand’s Reimagine strategy, a pure-electric model will join the family in 2024, bringing full-time zero tailpipe emissions driving to the Range Rover for the first time.
Available at 2023 model year, the new extended-range plug-in hybrid (PHEV) combines the inherent refinement of the Land Rover brand’s inline six-cylinder Ingenium engine with a 38.2kWh lithium-ion battery – with usable capacity of 31.8kWh – and a 105kW electric motor integrated with the transmission. Together, the powertrain provides up to 62 miles10 of near-silent pure-electric driving.
The 434hp PHEV can reach up to 87mph5 without the use of the gasoline engine allowing customers to enjoy pure-electric driving for most journeys in town and country. The clever packaging of the battery, beneath the vehicle and within the wheelbase, ensures both luggage space and all-terrain capability are uncompromised.
The use of advanced eHorizon navigation data also allows the hybrid system to optimize energy usage across a journey, to provide a peaceful arrival at a destination on electric power, while also optimizing EV usage.
The six-cylinder Ingenium engine features the latest 48-volt mild hybrid technology. The system’s clever belt-integrated starter motor ensures more responsive and refined operation of the stop-start system and provides extra assistance to the engine when accelerating.
Exquisite personalization
The New Range Rover SV will provide an exquisite interpretation of Range Rover luxury and personalization, giving customers even more scope to create a truly individual vehicle with a choice of exclusive design themes, details and material choices from SV.
This hand-crafted model will be the first Land Rover vehicle to carry the new ceramic SV roundel and simplified naming strategy – known simply as SV. The SV roundel represents the distillation of Special Vehicle Operations design and engineering passion for modern luxury, performance and capability. The SV roundel will identify all new Land Rover vehicles launched by Special Vehicle Operations in the future.
Special Vehicle Operations exists to amplify the core characteristics of Land Rover vehicles, obsessing over every detail with a passion for quality. In the case of Range Rover, that means injecting even more luxury into every part of the car. With more choice than ever before, our customers will be able to create a new Range Rover SV that truly reflects their personality, their dreams, their desires. That is how we interpret modern luxury.
Michael van der Sande
Managing director, special vehicle operations.
Both Standard and Long Wheelbase body designs – including a five-seat LWB configuration for the first time – are available with specially curated SV Serenity and SV Intrepid design themes, which introduce two-tone front-to-rear contrasting colorways to Range Rover. Exclusive materials include lustrous plated metals, smooth ceramics, intricate mosaic marquetry and soft near-aniline leather, as well as sustainable non-leather Ultrafabrics™.
The sumptuous new SV Signature Suite option on LWB models epitomizes the heightened luxury and craftsmanship of Range Rover SV, providing a peerless travelling environment for its most discerning customers. Its uniquely cosseting seats feature 24-way adjustment with massage functionality, while an elegant electrically deployable Club Table rises theatrically from the fixed full-length center console on beautifully engineered supports to provide a convenient workspace when required.
The Range Rover SV will be available with the refined new 523hp twin turbocharged V8 powertrain.
New quality benchmark
The New Range Rover has been designed, developed and engineered in the UK and, during this process, Land Rover has filed no fewer than 125 patents covering everything from its pioneering chassis technologies to its PHEV battery. Land Rover engineers used motorsport-derived simulation technology to put the vehicle through its paces in the virtual world more comprehensively and intensively than ever, completing more than 140,000 hours of computational analysis prior to physical testing.
A fleet of prototypes then embarked on a punishing global test and development program, taking in extreme temperatures ranging from the 100 ° F + heat of the desert to the -20 ° F cold of the Arctic.
The New Range Rover will be produced exclusively at the Solihull Manufacturing Facility in the UK, using a state-of-the-art production line housed in the building used to produce early Series Land Rover vehicles. The historic building is the spiritual home of Land Rover and its reimagining as a new, ultra-modern center for Range Rover production showcases the way the company protects its heritage.
The New Range Rover is available to order now, priced from $104,0002 in the U.S. Find out more here: LandRoverUSA.com

puts sport back into sports utility vehicle
Acclaimed as the most dynamic model yet, the Range Rover Sport Autobiography adds even more power to its renowned luxury performance. An Ingenium 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged petrol PHEV hybrid boosts its exhilarating statistics: its 8-speed automatic transmission, 510HP, and 700Nm of torque accelerates the car from 0-60mph in 5.3-seconds and up to a maximum of 150 mph (242 km/h). Its power is effortless, gliding past others on motorways and powering along uphill climbs in Snowdonia with just a tap on the throttle. The Autobiography badge is truly a mark of distinction.
Several different driving modes allow the driver to tailor performance to conditions or mood, switching from eco or comfort on long highways to dynamic on country passes when needed. The key for the smooth performance, though, is the handling pack that combines All-Wheel Steering and Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring. Dynamic Air Suspension introduces switchable volume air springs – a Range Rover first – with twin-valve active dampers for ultimate agility, control and composure at all speeds and all environments.
luxury design, inside and out
Its dynamic luxury is not just felt in its performance. Like every model from Range Rover, all aspects have been carefully designed by Gerry McGovern and his creative team. A muscular stance and taut surfaces personifies the power and agility of the machine within, but beyond its instantly recognizeable profile and proportions – in Giola Green color on our drive – its modern details establish a more defined, athletic character. Sportiness is reflected in stealth-like front grille, digital LED lighting, and double-aperture lower bumper. The most notable feature is the sculpted, uninterrupted tailgate, accentuated with LED graphics. A shoulder line connects the two ends, so smooth in finish that even the door handles are hidden flush with the body.
The same dynamic luxury continues in the interior of the car. Sculpted seats are equipped with massage and heating features, both nice perks in windy, wet North Wales. The cockpit is widened by the full-width console, only disrupted in the center by a curved touchscreen that slopes towards the passengers. Sustainable, lightweight fabrics in Light Cloud and Ebony options line the console and doors, creating a two-tone contrast with the natural black veneer dashboard and screens.

Moving towards the back seats, the cabin opens up with a near-full-length skylight, flooding the interior with natural light and giving all passengers a deep connection to the outdoors. The powerful Meridian Sound System pushes the signature sound around the cabin, said to be the most powerful system ever fitted to a Range Rover Sport. 29 speakers, a subwoofer and 1,430W of amplifier power creates a curated cocoon of entertainment for passengers that is only disrupted by the exhaust in the dynamic driving mode. Further rearwards, the loadspace in the boot hits the utility criteria at the plentiful 647-liter number.
Proved in North Wales, the Range Rover Sport Autobiography joyously and luxuriously rebalances sportiness and utility. From its spacious loadspace to its refined exterior design and interior comforts, the SUV never forgets its exhilarating driving experience first of all.

Advanced entertainment, comfort, and convenience features are provided on these models, with added exclusivity in the form of some styling options and added flourishes. Below are some awesome facts about the Range Rover SV Autobiography and some of its greatest features.
10 Driver Assistance
Range Rovers have always been one of the top choices in the luxury SUV category, and part of its popularity is due to the technology and driver assistance features . The Range Rover SV Autobiography is no different, due to it being the top of the line model.
There are a range of driver assistance features available on the SV Autobiography, including the Drive Pack with Blind Spot Monitor, Driver Condition Monitor, Adaptive Speed Limiter and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Pro Pack offers even more with Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control and High-Speed Emergency Braking. The Park Pack also features a 360-degree Rear Traffic Monitor and Parking Aid, as well as Clear Exit Monitor alerts.
9 Exterior Features
The exterior features on the Autobiography are nothing short of exquisite. The Autobiography is the best in class, and with that comes some extra tweaks and flourishes, just to let others know you only shop for the best.
For an especially distinct look, nine exclusive color options are available on this model, as well as some exclusive badges. The hood and tailgate even have their own black detailing with a copper finish to further elevate this cars premium status.
8 Luxury Interior
The interior is perhaps where the Range Rover Autobiography editions shines the most. After all, luxury cars are about feeling and class , and nothing says cheap like poor quality materials and bad build quality. Luckily, this is far from what the Range Rover's interior is like.
The interior is awash with vintage leather, available in multiple colors, including tan. Carbon fiber flourishes are also dotted throughout the cabin and even some copper weave too. The Autobiography Ultimate Edition even has some special badging in the form of a Bespoke Commissioning Plaque on center console.
7 Included Tech And Infotainment
Both driver and passenger will be excited to know that the Autobiography includes a wide range of technology, ranging from driver convenience all the way to comfort and entertainment.
The front seats can be both heated and cooled, as well as providing a so called “hot-stone” massage function. If you opt for the long wheelbase variant, you get your own rear console, tables, and, astonishingly, even your own fridge, which is perhaps the most luxurious thing anyone could ever ask for.
6 Engine Options
Now, we could sit and talk about the Autobiography's luxurious aspects all day, however, it is still a car and that, of course, means there's an engine under the hood. In this instance, the Autobiography was given the best of the best.
In total, there are a whole six engine options available, which is fairly staggering, and these include more modest 300 - 350 hp diesel engines both at 3.0-liters, 400 hp gasoline engines in either a 2.0-liter or 3.0-liter configuration, and finally, two 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engines with either 525 or a monumental 565 hp.
5 Autobiography History
Many may not be aware that the Range Rover Autobiography isn't just a one off, and has actually been around for a number of years now, 26 in fact. The Autobiography was first announced at the London motor show in 1993 and cars went on sale the following year.
The mission statement of the Autobiography is to provide unparalleled Land Rover design and exceptional luxury with the best models available from the legendary manufacturer. The models have also often been massively customizable in the past, providing for a truly bespoke vehicle providing you have the cash.

4 The Performance
The entry-level 3.0-liter diesel engine will provide decent performance if you aren't willing to opt for the V8, providing a ride that's both smooth and comfortable. However, it should be said that no matter which engine you choose, they are all going to be great, especially the hybrid options which are slightly more expensive.
The V8 on the other hand will provide the best performance with great speed and acceleration, especially for a vehicle of this size and weight. There is more than enough power, meaning that if you want to drive the Autobiography fast, you absolutely can.
3 Driving Modes
Further adding to the versatility of the Range Rover are the available driving modes . These are each tailored to a specific driving experience or to provide some added functionality.
The Speed Lowering mode uses the electronic air suspension to reduce drag and therefore fuel consumption by lowering the vehicle by just over half an inch from normal ride height when the car is travelling above 65mph. Comfort mode unsurprisingly provides added comfort by calibrating the suspension settings. Dynamic mode has a firmer suspension setting for a more dynamic driving style. And finally, the EV mode allows your car to be run on electric power only if you so wish.
2 Off-Road Ability
The Autobiography is a luxury SUV meant to be driven at cruising speeds to provide the passengers with ultimate comfort and luxury. However, if you so wish, the car can easily perform when the going gets tough. There are even included off-road features such as Hill Descent Control, Twin-Speed Transfer Box and Low Traction Launch.
The car's secondary function is that of a tough off-roader which may seem exactly the opposite of what the car is all about, but don't forget, this comes from the makers of the extremely capable off-roaders from Land Rover, and surprisingly, the Autobiography still shares some of the DNA from those vehicles. The versatility of this vehicle leaves competitors quite literally in the dust.

1 Efficiency
Of course, the efficiency of the Autobiography's huge V8 is less than satisfactory, to put it kindly. However, if you choose to opt for one of the hybrid variants, you may be pleasantly surprised at the level of fuel efficiency that can be achieved from the Range Rover.
The 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine is perhaps the best option for those who are looking for some added fuel efficiency whilst also providing more than adequate performance too.

What's New for 2024?
It's still early in the Range Rover's fifth generation, but already Land Rover has tweaked the powertrain lineup for 2024. The plug-in-hybrid P440e has been replaced with a more powerful P550e which makes 542 horsepower. P400 and P530 models see no changes to their horsepower ratings, but the top-spec SV model is now powered by a 606-hp V-8 engine that wears the P615 moniker. Elsewhere, Land Rover has introduced a new customization service called SV Bespoke which provides buyers more opportunities for personalization when building their dream Range Rover. To help draw attention to its SV Bespoke program, Land Rover revealed an ultra-exclusive Carmel Edition model during the 2023 Monterey Car Week event in California. The $371,475 special edition features Cream Ash Burr and white ceramic interior trim, pearl oyster accents, two-tone leather upholstery, specially-embroidered cushions, and unique 23-inch wheels with white inserts. The result is fairly spectacular; only seven will be built.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover starts at $108,875 and goes up to $371,475 depending on the trim and options.
We'd recommend opting for the mid-range Autobiography model, which adds several sought-after items that luxury buyers will appreciate. For example, the Autobiography comes standard with a 1600-watt Meridian stereo system featuring headrest-mounted speakers and active noise cancellation. The Range Rover will be offered in both short- and long-wheelbase body styles, and we suggest going for the latter since it creates room for a third row of seats and provides a more generous cargo area.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Range Rover is available with a quartet of powertrains, starting with a turbocharged inline-six with a 48-volt hybrid system dubbed P400 that develops 395 horsepower. During our initial test drive, it proved to be silky-smooth and provided adequate pep to tug the large Range Rover around. A 523-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine—Land Rover calls it P530—is even perkier and cranks up the Range Rover's towing capacity to 8200 pounds. At our test track, the P530 hustled the Range Rover to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds; the P400 did it in 5.5 seconds. A 542-hp plug-in hybrid option—called P550e—is also available but only on the short wheelbase Autobiography trim, and the range-topping SV comes with a 606-hp V-8 called P615. Our long-wheelbase P400 test vehicle managed to hit 60 mph in a fairly brisk 5.5 seconds while the short-wheelbase P530 we tested did it in just 4.3 seconds. The Range Rover's ride is suitably plush and, with its adjustable air suspension set to Comfort mode, it virtually floats down the road. Turning the dial to Dynamic mode firms things up some, but the big Rover still aims for a comfort-first mission.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The EPA hasn't released official range estimates for the plug-in hybrid P550e, but Land Rover says the system's 31.8-kWh battery pack should provide around 51 miles of electric-only driving range. The P550e is capable of DC fast charging or can be charged at a home-based charger.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The most fuel-efficient Range Rover will likely be the plug-in hybrid P550e, but the EPA hasn't estimated fuel economy numbers for that model yet. The entry-level P400 is rated for 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway while the V-8–powered P530 has earned 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway estimates. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy route both the P400 and the P530 delivered the same 23 mpg result. For more information about the Range Rover's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website .
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
As with past generations of the Range Rover, this new generation model offers a plush interior decked out with rich leathers and woods, but buyers who want a more sustainable cabin can now opt for a new leather-free option, which subs-in wool or other textiles. The interior can be arranged to seat four, five, or seven depending on configuration and wheelbase. The third row, even in long-wheelbase trims, may not fit tall adults as the headroom there is somewhat limited, but shorter riders and kids will find it nearly as comfortable as the second row. An optional motorized divider for the cargo area helps keep things from moving around too much during travel, and the Range Rover's split rear liftgate can be used as convenient and comfortable seating for outdoor events.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All models receive a new 13.1-inch curved infotainment display with Land Rover's latest Pivi Pro interface. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard and the system also receives Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. Other standard features include in-dash navigation, wireless smartphone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 13.7-inch digital gauge display. A rear-seat entertainment system with dual 11.4-inch displays is available, as is a Meridian stereo system with 35 speakers and noise-canceling technology embedded into the headrests.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Land Rover offers a host of modern driver-assistance features as standard on the Range Rover, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. For more information about the Range Rover's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Standard adaptive cruise control
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
The Range Rover's warranty coverage mostly matches up with the offerings of its luxury competitors, but it doesn't include complimentary scheduled maintenance. Competitors such as the BMW X7 and Black Label versions of the Lincoln Navigator both include extended periods of complimentary scheduled maintenance in the purchase price.
- Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- No complimentary scheduled maintenance

*Please remember that the safety belts in a vehicle constitute the primary protection system for driver and passengers in collisions. Airbags are not designed to deploy in all collisions. The airbag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is a supplement to the safety belts and is designed to work as a system with the safety belts. Although airbags provide additional protection, airbags without safety belts do not provide optimal protection in a crash. Always wear your safety belts. Children younger than 13 years old should always be properly restrained in a back seat, away from airbags. Never place an infant seat in the front seat.

2025 range rover sport to offer stylish matte stealth pack.
As a crucial member of the Range Rover family, the Range Rover Sport has undergone a remarkable transformation from its initial bulky aesthetics in 2006 to a contemporary and streamlined silhouette that whispers power through its muscular contours. The current generation, introduced in 2022, artfully marries Land Rover's legendary off-road capabilities with an unmatched level of sophistication and comfort, establishing a benchmark that few can aspire to. Now, to further underscore the Range Rover Sport's presence, the introduction of the sleek Stealth Pack for the upcoming 2025 models adds a layer of mystique. This new addition lends the vehicle a somewhat sinister allure, akin to a vigilante lurking in the shadows, powerful yet poised, ready to reveal its full might only when necessary.
Range Rover Sport Stealth Pack
Performance has always been a hallmark of the Range Rover Sport, often using the same engines found in the full-size Range Rover but popping them into the Sport, which weighs less and offers a more dynamic driving experience. The Stealth Pack is only available with the six-cylinder 48V mild-hybrid powertrain, which, in this P400 configuration, offers 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain really delivers from both an efficiency and performance standpoint. In the cabin, you can hardly hear the engine, yet on the outside, the 6-cylinder offers a nice growl.
Range Rover Sport
Styling and design are where the Range Rover Sport truly stands apart. Its silhouette is instantly recognizable, a perfect balance of muscularity and elegance. The interior feels like a modern northern California luxury home, with meticulous attention to detail. The latest model year introduces a reductionist console design centered around an expansive 11.4-inch InControl touchscreen, simplifying the cockpit while enhancing functionality and aesthetic appeal. Digital technologies and security features, including walk-away locking/unlock on approach, are updated over the air.

The introduction of the Range Rover Sport Stealth Pack for the 2025 model year marks further customization to an already very customizable SUV. Emphasizing its "dark side," this optional package offers a stealthy take on the Range Rover Sport's aesthetic. The Stealth Pack features a combination of dark and dramatic finishes, including a Carpathian Grey Satin exterior with contrasting gloss black accents. This inky palette is complemented by either Ebony or Light Cloud perforated Windsor Leather on the interior, with the option of Natural Black Veneers for an added touch of elegance. What sets the Stealth Pack apart is the introduction of the Satin Protective Film, a factory-fitted, solvent-free option that offers both a rich, contemporary satin finish and scratch protection. Exterior enhancements include 23-inch Gloss Black wheels with black brake calipers and a Narvik Black Gloss contrast roof, amplifying the vehicle's sporting, muscular stance.
Priced at $10,305, the Stealth Pack offers additional ways for clients to customize their Range Rover Sport vehicles without moving into higher trim levels. The Stealth Pack is only available on the Sport Dynamic SE level, which is just a step above the base SE model. With more people tightening their purse strings, this is Range Rover’s way of getting clients to still spend more without jumping up an entire trim level. We expect an autobiography model to come along, but for now, just the Sport SE and Sport Dynamic SE are available for 2025.
