However, there are a few things I don't like. While the website is definitely very modern-looking, it's not super user-friendly. Along that same line, I would love to have sorting options within each genre list because it's way more fun to see which documentaries, for example, were added recently so I'm not scrolling over all the same movies I always see.

They also feature web and film school originals and list some titles by a common theme. Filmzie does a great job organizing its movies. This is the main reason I use it. That, and there are so many videos here that I have never even heard of, so it's the perfect place to find something brand new.

On the home page are handy categories I have yet to find on another free movie site. They often change, but some that I've seen include Fools in Love, UFO Phenomenon, Teen Dramas, Reality Romance, Undercover Agents, Environment, and Mexican Action.

While there are also typical genre lists you can browse through, none of them let you sort by popularity or filter by rating or year. This is by far my biggest issue with the service. Its content is available on a large number of different streaming services, but you can access most of it through the company’s YouTube channels or its dedicated iOS, Android, and streaming device apps.

Geographic content blocking on FilmRise is a real hit-and-miss. We’ve found that some TV shows and movies on its YouTube channel are blocked to non-US users, while others will play almost anywhere.

For example, FilmRise has full episodes of the US TV show 21 Jump Street , but you can’t watch those episodes through FilmRise’s YouTube channel if you’re a country outside the US, such as Canada, the UK, or Germany. Instead, you’ll get YouTube’s standard content blocking message: “Video unavailable. The uploader has not made this video available in your country” .

Grab a US IP address by connecting to a NordVPN server located in the US to bypass any content blocking you might find when using FilmRise. If you’re in the US and you see a geographic content blocking message from FilmRise, you will also need a VPN. However, you may need to do some trial and error by connecting to servers in different countries to determine where that content is available.

10. BBC iPlayer

BBC iPlayer is the UK’s largest free-to-watch streaming platform, carrying a regularly-updated library of TV shows, movies, and radio broadcasts. What’s more, it allows users to watch around a dozen channels live. These include the big ones, such as BBC One and BBC Two, as well as regional channels like S4C and Alba, which are some of the only places you can stream Welsh and Gaelic content online.

Also similar to HappyKids.tv, Kidoodle cannot be streamed using a web browser. There may be hope in the future that Tubi will bring its services overseas. For now, a VPN works well to bypass its existing content blocks.

Although it primarily operates as a service for buying and renting digital TV shows and movies, Vudu also carries many free titles that are supported by advertisements.

Conor recruits other misfits at his school to play with him and begins writing songs. As the band develops, so does his relationship with Raphina.

Sorry to Bother You has a solid premise: Cassius Green (Lakeith Stanfield) works as a telemarketer for a company called RegalView. But as the movie progresses, it turns out that RegalView is in bed with some very, very weird companies. From there, Green enters a world of drugs, genetic engineering and voluntary-ish indentured servitude, and even the best-laid plans to get the world back to normal might not go far enough. Sorry to Bother You used to be one of the best movies on Netflix , but it just left — so watch it for free while you can!

While the library is not as expansive as some, users can feel a sense of comfort streaming through a website they may already be subscribed to: Amazon.

What follows is a trial, more than a few shocking revelations, a poolside threesome, some corrupt cops and lawyers, and a death or two.

To say that Wild Things has some plot twists would be like if Meryl Streep said she’s just OK at acting. It’s a massive understatement, and part of the pleasure is seeing all of the narrative developments unfold in a skillful, deliberate manner. Another highlight is Bill Murray, who gives one of his best performances ever as Sam’s sketchy, neck brace-wearing lawyer. His droll delivery gives Wild Things a nice little kick, and elevates the movie into the guilty pleasure canon alongside Showgirls .

While 1990 doesn’t seem that too long ago for Gen Xers like myself, if you do the math, it might as well be the Stone Age. This was a time when if you wanted to talk to another person, you’d pick up a landline or talk to them in person since social media apps like TikTok and games like Fortnite didn’t exist. This was also a period when Johnny Depp was the reigning teen idol and John Waters had just cemented his title as cinema’s “Sultan of Sleaze” with Polyester and Hairspray .

They both teamed up for Cry-Baby , a loving, trashy ode to Elvis Presley musicals like Jailhouse Rock and 1950s teen exploitation pictures like High School Hellcats and Reform School Girl . Depp plays the titular sad-eyed rebel, a baby boy who falls in love with good girl Allison (Amy Locane). Torn apart by their square society and warring families, they sing songs, and commit crimes — all in the name of love. It’s a characteristically bizarre picture from Waters, but like Hairspray , it’s oddly sweet and charming at the same time. Be warned: You will be humming the title tune once you finish the movie.

One of the best animated movies ever made started out as an underappreciated disappointment. The Iron Giant was released in the dog days of summer in 1999, and while audiences mostly stayed away, critics then and now praised the film. The Incredibles director Brad Bird made his directorial debut with this Cold War-era story about a young boy named Hogarth Hughes (Eli Marienthal) and his giant metal robot from another world (a pre- Fast and the Furious  Vin Diesel).

Although the Iron Giant has a gentle personality and befriends lonely Hogarth, it’s soon revealed that he is really a weapon of destruction created by an alien race. The Iron Giant’s presence is soon detected by the government, and just like E.T. before him, he soon has to hide from untrusting adult humans while also protecting his adolescent friend.
